One night at a college library, a young Asian woman with long black hair was in the library at a table. She was currently writing an essay and once she finished she let out a sigh of relief before saying,"Finally, I'm done with this stupid essay."

The young woman then packed up her things and stood up to leave the library. This young woman was of a skinny build but was also busty. She currently wore a black band t-shirt, gray sweatpants and black running shoes. She also had her hair tied back in a low ponytail and wore glasses as well as no make-up.

The young woman passed by the librarian and said,"Bye Mrs. Glenn."

"Goodbye Casey.",Mrs. Glenn said in a friendly manner as Casey left the library. Casey walked down the steps of the library seeing no one in the courtyard and she took out her phone to check the time. She looked at the clock and she said,"It's already nine?! I was doing that essay for six hours?!"

Casey groaned in frustration then sighed,"Ya know what, it's not worth getting upset over. I'll just go to my dorm, get a few hours of sleep then take a shower and everything in the morning."

Casey then began moving once more until she felt as though someone was watching her. She looked behind her to see Mrs Glenn standing at the top of the stairs and she waved while saying,"Don't worry Mrs Glenn, I know my way back to my dorm and have my phone on in case of emergencies."

Mrs Glenn stayed silent as a gray aura began to radiate from her body and take form above her as an inhuman shape. Casey gained a frightened expression and she backed away, falling down the last step. She looked towards Mrs Glenn as the woman moved towards her, the gray aura morphing more and more into a monster of some kind. Casey could do nothing but stare at Mrs Glenn as she approached then she was snapped out of it when she noticed a blue aura radiating from her own person. Casey looked up to see the aura forming into something and having yellow eyes. She gasped then became overwhelmingly drowsy, falling to her back and seeing the blue aura rush towards Mrs Glenn as her eyes closed.

Casey then awoke to find herself in her bed in her dorm room. She looked around, seeing her backpack on the ground near the bed as well as her glasses and pants on a nearby chair. She scratched her head then said,"Weird dream."

Casey then sat up and looked at her clock, then she quickly got out of bedgot out of bed saying,"Crap, I'm gonna be late for class!"

Many minutes later, Casey was running down a hallway, doing her best not to run into any other students, with her backpack slung across her shoulder and as she put her hair into a ponytail. She now wore a blue hoodie over a white tank top, blue sweatpants, and white slip-on shoes as well as her glasses and some make up. Casey stopped in front of a door and hurriedly entered it to find that no one was in the lecture hall save for a Caucasian man with curly brown hair in a black suit being at the desk. Casey walked towards the man saying,"Mr Collins, am I early to class?"

Mr Collins looked up at Casey and said,"No Ms Daniels, you are in fact late by an hour and twenty minutes. Class is over."

"What, but it's Friday and your class doesn't start till ten."

"Usually yes, but remember that I moved up the class to eight thirty today due to me having to go to the airport at twelve."

Casey closed her eyes and said with embarrassment,"Right, you told us that on Wednesday."

"That I did and you missed today's class which gets you a zero for the essay you were supposed to turn in.",Mr Collins said while he stood up and began packing his suitcase. Casey hurriedly took off her backpack and opened it while saying,"No no wait, I have my essay right here. It's done and everything."

"Yes I can, however the highest grade you can get is a C.",Mr Collins said while taking the essay. Casey became saddened and she sighed,"Okay, thanks Mr Collins."

"You're welcome Ms Daniels. Have a nice weekend.",Mr Collins said with a wise smile. Casey nodded then she left the room, zipping up her backpack and putting it on her back.

Moments later, Casey was walking across the campus with a saddened expression on her face. She sighed and put her hands onto the straps of her backpack. She walked for sometime then she stopped and backed up, turning her head to a nearby window. In this window, Casey saw the same blue aura radiating from her body as she did the night before. Her eyes widened and she said,"What the?"

It was then that someone accidentally bumped into her and they apologized. Casey looked at the person who bumped into her to see a tall Asian man with shaggy black hair that went just below his ears and an athletic build standing there. This man currently wore a red t-shirt, black shorts, and black combat boots. On his left wrist was a large device in the shape of a diamond strapped to it. The device had a red edge while the inner portion was black save for a circular indent which looked as if something could be put into it.

"My bad, I wasn't watching where I was going.",the man said with a friendly smirk.

"It's okay, I shouldn't be just standing in the middle of the walkway.",Casey said. Casey then looked the man up and down before asking,"Are you new here? I've never seen you around before."

"Oh, I don't go here or any college."The man said casually. He then stretched his hand out to Casey while smiling and saying,"Name's Paul B, nice to meet you."

"I'm Casey Daniels, I'm sorry did you say that your name is Paul B?",Casey said while hesitantly shaking Paul B's hand.

"Yep.",Paul B said, keeping his friendly smile.

"What's the B stand for?",Casey asked.

"Nothing, it's my favorite letter and just fits.",Paul B explained. Casey nodded hesitantly then she regained her composure before asking,"So if you don't go to this college, why are you here?"

"I'm here looking for a specter or at least someone who's turning into one.",Paul B said with some apprehension. Casey gained a completely dumbfounded expression which Paul B noticed.

"Yeah that's the same way people look at me whenever I tell them that, but I'm being serious. I need to find this person before they hurt people.",Paul B said with conviction. Casey blinked several times then she looked into the window to see a red aura coming off of Paul B and she gasped. Paul B looked into the window, saw Casey's aura and he said,"Whoa, you have a beautiful spirit on you. Fits you really."

Casey's eyes widened and she turned to Paul B asking,"You can see this stuff?"

Paul B nodded nonchalantly and Casey's eyes widened before said with disbelief,"Then was what I saw not a dream?"

"What did you see?",Paul B asked with concern.

"Uh, last night I was exiting the library when the librarian followed me out and had this thing made of gray aura come out of her. It startled me and I fell but then I passed out as this blue aura came out of me and went towards her. I thought it was a dream until you just said you can see this stuff coming off me.",Casey explained. Paul B nodded with understanding then he asked,"Could you take me to this librarian?"

"What?",Casey questioned.

"Can you take me to the librarian?",Paul B asked once more. Casey continued to have a questioning gaze then she and Paul B heard screaming coming from somewhere behind her and they looked in that direction to see Mrs Glenn approaching a student with the gray aura coming off of her body as her left eye glowed red. Mrs Gleen then had the aura cover her body before her skin turned to stone and what burst from it was a monster that was made of a mass of gray and black tendrils while also having one red eye visible.

Everyone around screamed in terror and ran away while Casey and Paul B just stared at the tendril monster.

"Ah crap, the specter's already matured.",Paul B said with some annoyance. Casey looked at Paul B and asked,"What's a specter and why did the librarian just turn into that thing?"

"Specters are people who've been taken over by their own corrupted spirits. Once they turn into this monstrous form, there's no saving them.",Paul B explained with slight sadness. Casey's eyes widened and she turned her attention back to the tendril specter as it neared the student. Casey then threw her backpack down and ran towards the tendril specter, with Paul B seeing her and saying,"Hey wait up!"

The tendril specter came closer to the cowering student and lifted an arm to strike but it was tackled in the side by Casey, making it stumble to the side. Casey grabbed her shoulder in pain but helped the student stand then said,"Run now!"

The student thanked Casey then ran away. Casey grabbed her shoulder then she heard a screech come from the tendril monster and she covered her ears. The tendril specter launched a tendril towards Casey, but her blue appeared and took shape before punching the tendril into the ground.

Casey's eyes widened and she looked at her aura, with it looking towards her. The aura then went back into Casey but a ring of blue aura circled her left wrist and a small ball of blue aura appeared in her right hand. The two aura shapes then changed into items with the one on her wrist being like Paul B's except it had blue on it instead of red. In Casey's right hand appeared a small coin which had a blue edge to it and a black center with a blue symbol in the middle that was in the shape of a wave.

Casey let out a surprised gasp while looking at the device on her wrist and the coin in her hand,"What are these?! How did I get them?"

Casey then noticed the tendril specter charging at her and she yelped while bracing herself. Paul B, having now caught up with Casey, jumped over her and kicked the tendril specter in the head. He then landed in front of Casey, turned to her, saw the device on her wrist and said,"Oh cool, you got a spirit changer like mine. Which means that you can become a Phantomranger." with an excited smile.

"A what?",Casey questioned. Paul B turned back to the recovered tendril specter while saying,"I can explain later. Right now, we need to stop this specter before it hurts anyone."

Paul B then took out a coin that was like Casey's except the edge was red and the symbol in the middle that of a flame and was colored red.

"Just follow my lead.",Paul B said with a smirk. He then flipped his coin into the air before catching it and placing it into the indent on his Spirit Changer and saying,"Phantomise!"

"AGNI PHANTOMISE!",The spirit changer announced as a red aura came out of Paul B, formed into a dragon briefly then collided with his body. The aura then dissipated and Casey's eyes widened at what she saw.

Paul B now stood with a black bodysuit that had two red angular streaks on each thigh. Along with the body suit was a pair of red boots that had a silver hem that stopped just below his knees, red gloves which had a black stripe on the wrist and stopped just above the elbow, a silver belt around the waist that had a red buckle, and on his torso over his bodysuit was a red tabard that had pointed shoulder. On Paul B's head was a red helmet that had a black visor in the shape of what appeared to be a maw of teeth, a silver mouth plate and a top knot on the top back of the head with the knot itself looking like a flame.

"(Creepy techno music) REDPHANTOM READY!",the spirit changer said while Paul B's transformation happened.

Casey's jaw dropped at what she saw, unable to keep her eyes off of Paul B. Paul B

then looked at Casey and said,"Just do what I did and you'll transform. You don't need to do the coin flip though, that's just my thing."

Casey looked at her Spirit Changer and her coin then she put the coin into her Spirit Changer while saying,"Phantomise?"

"ELIZI PHANTOMISE!"Casey's spirit changer announced as a blue aura came out of her, formed into a mermaid then collided with her. The aura then dissipated and Casey looked herself over.

Casey now stood with a black bodysuit that had two blue angular streaks on each thigh. Along with the body suit was a pair of blue boots that had a silver hem that stopped just below her knees, blue gloves which had a black stripe on the wrist and stopped just above the elbow, a silver belt around the waist that had a blue buckle, and on her torso over her bodysuit was a blue tabard that had pointed shoulder pads and a blue skirt which stopped at half her thigh. On Casey's head was a blue helmet that had a black visor which was shaped like goggles and a silver mouthplate.

"(Creepy techno music) BLUEPHANTOM READY!"

Casey looked at herself and said with amazement,"Whoa."

Paul B nodded, then he turned to the tendril specter and he said,"Now we can properly introduce ourselves."

Paul B then pointed at himself with his thumb while saying with great confidence,"I'm the fiery spirit, RedPhantom."

RedPhantom then pointed at BluePhantom,"She's the calming spirit, BluePhantom."

"Calming spirit?"BluePhantom questioned.

"And we're the first two members of the Spirit Sentai Phantomranger!"RedPhantom said while walking over to BluePhantom and posing as if he was presenting something with his arms stretched out. BluePhantom looked at RedPhantom then said,"What's a sentai and why are you posing?"

RedPhantom looked at BluePhantom and stood up straight while saying,"It's to make an entrance or to just have some flair. It'll be cooler once we have a full team."

RedPhantom turned his attention back to the tendril specter,"Now let's put this specter to rest." before he charged towards the tendril specter with BluePhantom following him. The tendril specter let out a roar as it charged at the two Phantomrangers.

RedPhantom jumped over the tendril specter while BluePhantom narrowly dodged a swing from a tendril. RedPhantom landed on his feet and he blocked two punches from the tendril specter before he punched it in the chest. He then punched the tendril specter three times before roundhouse kicking it in the face, causing the specter to stumble back. RedPhantom looked at BluePhantom and he helped her up before asking,"Why aren't you trying to get some hits in?"

"Well A)I am super confused by everything that's happening right now and B) I've never fought nor seen a tentacle monster before!"BluePhantom responded.

"Oh it's the first fight jitters. Don't worry, those go away once you get into the groove of it. C'mon I'll help you out.",RedPhantom said in an encouraging tone. He then grabbed BluePhantom by the wrist and ran into battle with BluePhantom letting out a yelp of surprise. The tendril specter launched two tendrils at RedPhantom and BluePhantom, with them dodging them, then RedPhantom grabbed BluePhantom's other wrist and slung her towards the tendril specter causing her to kick it in the face twice. RedPhantom then let go of BluePhantom and he punched the tendril specter in the chest before he pushed BluePhantom towards the specter, with her accidentally hitting it in the face with her head.

The tendril specter stumbled back. BluePhantom shook her head then she almost fell forward as RedPhantom used her to help him propel a drop kick into the tendril specter's chest while he said,"Excuse me."

The tendril specter tumbled back a few feet. RedPhantom jumped to his feet then he looked at BluePhantom and said in an encouraging and confident voice,"See, you're doing great."

"Would you quit slinging me around?!"BluePhantom yelled at RedPhantom, causing the man to back up. The two were then hit by several tendrils, causing them both to fly back many feet. Both Phantomrangers landed on their backs, then RedPhantom flipped to his feet and said,"Time for us to use our weapons." while holding his right hand out. A stream of red aura came of RedPhantom's hand and took form before changing into a red bow that had flame marking along it and a light blue bladed section along the outside of it.

"AGNIBOWBLADE!",the bow announced as RedPhantom brandished it. BluePhantom stood up and said,"How'd you do that?"

RedPhantom fired an arrow made of red energy at a tendril that was sent towards him then he looked at BluePhantom and said,"You just have to think of the weapon coming into your hand and it does. You don't get a choice in what it is though." casually before he charged at the tendril specter, beginning to fight it. BluePhantom sighed in frustration then she looked at her right hand and she held it out causing blue aura to come out of it and take form. The blue aura then changed into a light blue gun that had three barrels and looked like a crossbow somewhat.

"ELIZITRIGUN!",The gun announced as BluePhantom looked at it with wonder. BluePhantom then aimed her gun at the tendril specter and shot it with three blue energy bursts. RedPhantom looked at BluePhantom and he gave her thumbs up while saying,"Nice job Casey!" enthusiastically.

RedPhantom then slashed the tendril specter four times in the chest before he kicked it in the chest, sending it back a few feet. BluePhantom ran up so she now stood next to RedPhantom while he said,"Now it's time to finish this."

RedPhantom put his Spirit Changer to his bow causing the bow's blade to have red energy engulf it. BluePhantom followed what RedPhantom did and put her Spirit Changer to her gun, causing blue energy to gather in all three barrels.

"EXORCISE!",Both weapons announced as the two Phantomrangers readied themselves. BluePhantom then shot a large bullet of blue energy at the tendril specter while RedPhantom slashed a red energy slash at the specter.

"AGNI, ELIZI PURGE!", the Agnibowblade and Elizitrigun announced as both attacks hit the tendril specter, causing it to stumble back and explode. RedPhantom and BluePhantom then relaxed themselves before RedPhantom excitedly fistpumped while shouting,"Yeah! We did it! High five."

BluePhantom looked at RedPhantom's hand then at him before asking,"Are you going to explain anything of what just happened to me now?"

RedPhantom put his hand down then said,"Oh yeah, I probably should do that. Although, we can't do it here because my Ma always taught me that you never explain things on an empty stomach."

"Why would?"BluePhantom questioned.

"So, wanna go get some food? I passed by a deli that we can walk to on my way here.",RedPhantom said, ignoring BluePhantom's comment. BluePhantom stayed silent for a moment then sighed,"Might as well, not like I have anything better to do."

RedPhantom nodded then he took his coin out of his Spirit Changer and reverted to Paul B. BluePhantom took her coin out of her Spirit Changer and she reverted into Casey. The duo then began walking together with Paul B picking up Casey's backpack and handing it to her.
