This is in honor of my cat Love that died last Wednesday. She died of a stroke. It broke my heart, she was my baby, the love of my kitty life. I pretty much reacted like Harry with her death. I was lifeless almost when I wasn't crying. So like most things, when I am feeling emotions I write. So I wrote, Harry mourning her. PS I don't own Harry Potter nor the characters.

Harry was devastated. Yes, he got out of the Dursley house alive and all the humans got alive No thanks to Snape, George lost his ear due to Snape's spell he created. Harry lost his companion. The one he would talk to all those long hours locked in his room. The one he could tell everything. He felt shame creeping up over him, everyone got out alive he shouldn't be shaking and filled with dread.
Looking over at Ron he saw him sleeping and the guilt became so much stronger, Ron almost lost a brother and all he could think about was his owl who he would never pet again. He would never see her yellow eyes again, they were so wise. He felt the need to go to the bathroom so he got up and walked towards the bathroom. He went and washed his hands.
Once he walked out of the bathroom and he was seeing Hedwig die in his mind. He felt the sobs coming up so he ran out of the Burrow to go cry alone. He couldn't bear the thought of anyone seeing or hearing him cry.
He ran out the back door and ran down to the edge of the property. In a minute he made it and sat down and started to sob. He was shaking and felt the pain rush through him. His sweet, loyal owl was dead. Cold and lifeless.
A few minutes later he heard noises behind him. Harry stopped crying and looked behind him. Mrs. Weasley was behind him and walked over to him and sat down. Harry tried not to cry but it didn't work. Mrs. Weasley just hugged him and he flinched. She still kept her arms around him and he just started sobbing harder.
After about twenty minutes Harry's sobs slowed down and then finally stopped. Finally Harry looked up at Mrs. Weasley
"Sorry, I shouldn't be sobbing about my owl when your children almost died."
Mrs. Weasley frowned and said "Harry, your owl died, your companion. I remember when my first pet died, his name was Dexter. When I found him dead, I lost it. I cried and I couldn't do anything. I stayed in my bed for days. I was devastated, I barely ate. You can get really close to certain pets. You can love them like humans, they are loved with your whole heart. Cry all you want. She was your pet. My children are fine and I hope they stay that way. Don't feel guilty."
Harry felt much better after Mrs. Weasley's words.
"Come Harry. I will make you some treacle tart and George's favorite food for tomorrow and since I doubt you can sleep you can have yours today and you can stay in the living room."
He smiled at that and they both got up and walked towards the Burrow.
"Mrs. Weasley, how did you know I was out here?"
"I have the doors charmed to know when people leave the house. And don't feel guilty. We all grieve. "
They walked in and Mrs. Weasley asked "Do you want tea?"
"Sure."
She got to the kitchen and started the kettle and started cooking quietly so as not to wake up the rest of the home. A few minutes later she brought his tea the way he liked and sat down with her tea. After about twenty minutes the good smells started floating in.
That also ushered in the rest of the family eventually. George and Fred were the first ones to come down. They looked at Harry and his red eyes and picked up that something was wrong. They said
"Wow, the food smells great! When is it going to be done, Mom?"
"It is going to be done in about twenty minutes. You guys can sit down."
Unbeknown to Harry, Fred and George asked their Mom what was wrong with Harry through notes. After that, they went to joke with Harry.
"Hello, have a late-night? Where is Ginny, you would think she would be here for some snogging."
Harry blushed as Ginny walked down the stairs and said
"I am here you nitwits."
She cast the Bat Boogey Hex on them and Mrs. Weasley yelled
"GINNY, TAKE THAT SPELL OFF YOUR BROTHERS! GEORGE AND FRED DON'T IMPLY YOUR SISTER IS LIKE SOME SCARLET WOMAN!"
All three of them said "Yes Mom"
Unfortunately, Mrs. Weasley's yelling woke up the entire household. They all trickled down to see what was going on. They all sat down and Ron and Hermione sat down near Harry and they both, when seeing the red eyes and tear stains gave him a huge group hug and cast silencing and notice me not spells around them.
Harry felt the tears coming and he sobbed harder than ever. Screaming for strength to get through this pain and agony. Ron and Hermione just hugged him harder.
Harry choked out "I remember her falling and the sound of her trying to get out of her cage. Then the sound of her death. I am sorry I shouldn't be crying."
Ron said "Harry, we don't care about you crying, I mean we care that you are sad but we aren't judging you. She was your owl."
Hermione also said "Honestly Harry! It is a perfectly normal thing to cry over your pet."
Both Harry and Ron rolled their eyes fondly at Hermione's tone.
"Is it my fault? Could I have saved her?"
Ron said "Harry, don't think like that. I know chess and I can't think of anything that could have saved her. They were death eaters, they have no problems killing people let alone animals."
"Thank you, Ron."
Hermione asked Harry "Are you ready to face people? The treacle tart is done."
Harry said "Yes."
The spells were taken down and the three of them walked over to the kitchen and got some treacle tart and sat down. After that, all of them walked up to Ron's room. Hermione enlarged Ron's bed and they all went in and tried to sleep. Of course, after brushing their teeth since Hermione was there.
Harry couldn't sleep much at all and therefore the rest of them had trouble sleeping. The next day they all got up and they had purple eye bags. Harry found a note from Ginny that said
"Dear Harry,
I am really sorry to hear about your loss. I hope I didn't overstep but I asked them to look for Hedwig and they found her. I made her a little coffin and you can bury her or I can. Either is no problem. Even though we are on a break for my safety, I still love you and I hope this war is over soon.
Love,
Ginny"
Harry cried at the note and he went to look for her. After a few minutes, he found her in the kitchen. He tapped her on her shoulder and hugged her while saying
"Thank you for what you did for her. Can you bury her?"
"Sure Harry."
He walked around in a haze for the rest of the day when he wasn't crying. Nothing made him happy. He did this the next day too, he did sleep well after the first day though. Finally, after the third day, he could smile at the thought of her. He visited her grave every day and talked to her. It broke his heart when he had to leave to hunt for Horcruxes
