This is DaniMason. Besides the title Elegy for a Pig bothered me. It was clearly not canon at all. So I am currently rewatching the episode and writing a script for it and making my explanation for it. It is Malloy is going to tell his story high off of pain meds. I really tried to research this topic, I hope pain meds work like this sometimes! I am sure I didn't follow police protocol very well so please know, it is already a tab unrealistic. Please enjoy and review and hopefully the next chapter will be out soon.
PS I don't own Adam 12 or the character. Jack Webb does.

One day Reed and Malloy also known as Pete and Jim were on patrol. It was a lovely sunny spring day in Los Angeles. Jim looked at his partner and he said
"Hey, Pete. Are you ready for that documentary?"
"Yes. I am still writing it. I am going to wing it mostly. I mean it is something I remember vividly."
"Makes sense."
Malloy was going to be the voice-over for a documentary based on his own experiences. Then all the officers that could be played by the same person would be played by them. Malloy was doing it since he was the best patrol officer and one of the ones with the most experience.
Then the radio blared and said
"1 Adam 12, 1 Adam 12 a 10-32 is at 5600 Vineland Ave., North Hollywood. Backup from 1 Adam 13"
Jim picked up the handpiece "10-4"
Malloy then drove the patrol car in the direction of the store with their lights and sirens on. They were hoping it would be easier because liquor stores were robbed all the time, and the owner might be used to it therefore, the owner would get everyone out fine if anyone was there and not get in trouble.
In a few minutes, they made it there with the backup officers. Since it was Reed and Malloy's call they were in charge. So Reed and Malloy went in first, Reed at the back door and Malloy at the front door. Behind them, one of each of the backup officers would follow each one. Both cars called in
"1 Adam 12 10-23"
"1 Adam 13 10-23"
Malloy yelled as he opened the door" Drop your gun, police!"
The guy that was holding up the owner was about 20 years old, 5'11 brown and blue, caucasian and he looked wild. Like he was hopped up on the blow. He looked flushed and sweating but very confident. He looked at Malloy and his back up with a smirk and said
"No fuzz can stop me. I am going to have my money and alcohol and I am not going to be arrested."
"Put your gun down and put your hands above your head."
"No."
Just as Reed and his backup partner were approaching the guy a shot rang out. Malloy clutched his shoulder winching in pain.
Reed said "You are under arrest for shooting an officer and robbing the liquor store. Drop your gun and raise your hands above your head."
The guy dropped his gun and as Reed cuffed him and read him his rights, his backup officer went to call for an ambulance. Malloy's backup officer tried to slow the bleeding by applying pressure and it was working.
"10-52 at 5600 Vineland Ave., North Hollywood. An officer was shot."
Reed wasn't super worried due to the fact Malloy had already been shot in the shoulder while being one of the hostages in Dukes and he would have less blood loss since he would be treated right away. In a few minutes, the ambulance arrived at the scene.
The EMTs walked up to the scene and said "Okay, are there any medical allergies we should know about?"
"Nope."
Reed told Malloy "I will be in with you soon. I will explain the situation to Mac and then turn this guy in and come over to Central Receiving."
"See you soon, Partner."
Reed put the guy in the back of their patrol car and drove to the police station. He put the guy in the jail cell and went to Mac's office and knocked on the door.
Mac said, "Come in."
Reed walked in and said "Hey Mac, Malloy just got shot. Can I write his report and mine at Central Receiving?"
"Sure, just have him dictate it. And you get the rest of the day off just like Malloy."
"Thank you, Mac."
Once Reed got there he sat down in the waiting room and started his report.
Then Nurse Dixie McCall came up to Reed and said "Malloy is ready for visitors."
Jim walked with her to Malloy's room and said "Hey Pete, how are you doing?"
Pete said "Yes, it was a minor wound. I just am all hopped up on pain meds. Sadly I have to stay overnight for observation."
"That is annoying, well I brought the police reports. All you have to do is tell me what I need to write and I will write it."
After a long twenty minutes, it was finished and they could just chat. After a few minutes he was looking tired and,
Jim said "You should go to sleep. I will go drop the reports off and I can come back since out of the kindness of Mac's heart I got the day off. Our backup is taking care of the interviews and all that."
"Ok."
Reed went back to the station and dropped off all the paperwork. Then he used the phone and let Jean know what was going on. He went back to the hospital and visited until visiting hours were over then went home.
A few days later a problem appeared. They wouldn't let Malloy do it without him being hopped up on pain meds. So they had to let this disaster unfold. Reed and Mac weren't sure if they were looking forward to this or not.
