Re: Destiny; Continuing Life Amongst the Light
Destiny and Re: zero fic
Chapter 1: Epilogue
[Deep in the Eliksni quarters of the Last City, Mithraxs, the Kell of House Light, awakens from his slumber, his mind exhausted by days of endless splicing through the Vex Simulation. Upon leaving his chamber, he is greeted by the aroma of fresh Ether through the air, watching both hatchlings and elders absorbing their daily supply of the stranger substance. Outside in the courtyard, he could see younglings playing together in the ruined homes of their district, many covered in dust and rubble from the occasional falling debris. Next to them in the courtyard, he could see an Eliksni, his daughter Eido, frolicking with the younglings, teaching them about stories of the Eliksni of old. Eido turns her head to look upon her father and waves in excitement, parting ways with the children to run up and meet with him.
"Welcome father." Eido bows in respect towards Mithrax
Mithrax observes the sky, the shining rays being a stark contrast to the dark skies of the Vex's Endless Night.
"I greet you in the Light, Eido. The Sun shines brilliantly. I feel it has been so long since we have seen such beauty."
Eido follows her father's gaze into the heavens.
"It truly is. Qurias veil poisoned its beauty, and you've cured it, father."
"Qurias Taken poison can no longer taint our vision. We now know the true weaver of this corruption." Mithrax lets out a low raspy sight through his respirator.
Eido knew well who he was referring to and understood her father's worries; however, she had another issue she wanted to discuss with him.
"How much longer do you believe the people of the tower will allow us to live under the Great Machine?"
Mithrax sighed, releasing a small amount of Ether gas from his respirator.
"As long as they need our help."
Both stood in silence, looking upon the giant sphere in the sky that they revered.
"Eido … what do you believe will happen to us?''
Eido pondered her father's question. She had seen the Guardians' ferocity firsthand on Europa, both with and without the influence of Stasis. She knew some would eradicate the Eliksni in the City if given the chance, but she knew that there were many like Ikora Rei - Guardians and citizens alike - who cared for House Light, and understood that they did not want to take the Traveler, that they only wanted to fight alongside those it had chosen.
Eido: "I…do not know, father." Eido replied in a somber tone.
"I see. Then we must put our faith in the Traveler...the Light will provide."
Eido: "The Light will provide." Eido repeated her father's words, looking upon their Great Machine once again.]
[ Many within the walls of the Last City awoke to find their sun illuminating the city once again. The city's citizens rejoiced, realizing that the Endless Night had finally been vanquished. Many took to the streets, celebrating with friends and family. This same enthusiasm was mirrored in the tower, with many Guardians celebrating amongst each other, relieved that their efforts had finally paid off. In the Towers' hangar, however, the ship mechanics had no time to celebrate, with having to repair all the ships and sparrows that the Guardians had brought in. A tall, oily blonde woman was working diligently amongst her fellow engineers, repairing large varieties of sparrows and ships that Guardians had, in her words, been mistreating.
"AMANDA!" A loud, shrill voice called out in the hangar. "THIS SPARROW IS HANGING BY A WIRE! YOU SURE IT'S WORTH SAVIN' IT?"
The blonde, having been aggravated by the number of ships needing to be repaired, replied in an annoyed tone.
"I DON'T CARE! FIND SOMETHIN' TO FIX IT, I'M NOT ABOUT TO LISTEN TO ANOTHER GUARDIAN GET PISSY WITH ME."
Noting her frustration, a young Eliksni vandal offered her help to the blonde engineer.
"Let Niik assist, Eliksni hands will make hard work quick."
Amanda looked over her shoulder at the vandal.
"Thanks, darlin'. Check over by one of the shelves near that dented spaceship."
Niik looked over at the damaged spaceship, signs of a great battle painting the hull of the large ship.
"Mhm... Perhaps Amanda can learn from Old-Eliksni, theirs were bigger-stronger ships."
The young vandal thought to herself, cautiously approaching the damaged ship. Not far from the commotion, a Titan, clad in white armor with purple cloth tying together loose pieces of armor, was seen feeding a large flock of pigeons. Not far, a duo of Guardians, a Warlock, and Hunter, began to approach the bird-watching Titan.
"Ahhh, Hector, Erin, my friends. Come, come, the birds have eaten their fill."
As the two Guardians approached, the large flock of pigeons took flight, casting their feathers into the wind.
"Saint, it's good to see ya' in the metal again." The Hunter replied cheekily,
"Same to you. Oh how I wish I could be there, fighting alongside my fellow Guardians, but duty calls for me here in the Tower."
The Warlock looked at the Saint with a sort of pity in his eyes, "Duty of watching over the Fallen, right?"
At this comment, the Saint nodded, not in disappointment, but neutral agreement. Before the Saint could reply, the Hunter hit the Warlock over the head with her hand, causing him to stumble,
"Hector, how many times do we have to tell ya', these ain't no Devils, no Wolves, no Scourges, these fellas ain't the same Fallen.''
Hector-6 regains his balance, then proceeds to hit Erin on the forehead in return, causing her to lose balance as well.
"Apologies, it's a force of habit to call them Fallen. Still not used to them suddenly working alongside us."
Erin sighed in acknowledgment, understanding her friend's sentiment.
"Yeah, but things are different now." Erin shrugged, beginning to step away from Hector and Saint.
"I'll see you around, Hector. I got somethin' I need to finish." The Warlock nodded in agreement.
"See you around, Erin."
Saint sat there, confused, watching the two Guardians walk away. If only others shared their sentiment towards the Eliksni. Saint was left to his thoughts. Now that the Endless Night was vanquished, would the citizens continue to tolerate the Eliksni presence in the city?]
[Mithrax walked throughout the streets of the city, watching its citizens celebrate the unraveling of the Endless Night. His daughter's words weighed heavy on his mind. He had always trusted her judgment on the future of their House, but when she had no idea on what was to come, he felt a sense of unease. He turned a corner to approach the city square, hoping that there, he could find some clarity in his thoughts. As he walked away from the section of the road he could feel sharp eyes boring into the back of his skull. Mithrax turned swiftly, spotting a small group of teenagers leaning around the corner. As soon as they realized they'd been spotted, they hastily rushed around the corner, hiding away from Kell's strong gaze. Mithrax sighed, feeling some form of relief that his stalkers were only children. He used to tread carefully through the city during the veil of the Endless Night, feeling the eyes of all citizens on him, studying him, judging him. Remembering those days, he felt some relief knowing that those who were tailing him were nothing but adolescents. Letting his guard down, he sensed a pair of eyes on him again. However, this time, the gaze fixed on him was not sharp, but soft. He looked over his shoulder to see a young woman standing in the streets, hand in hand with her daughter as she approached the stoic Kell. She walked closer until she was at arm's length, standing in front of Mithrax. The discrepancy in size between the Humans and Eliksni was now more apparent to him than ever. Mithrax stood nearly four to five heads above the young woman and found himself having to hunch down to stay eye level with her.
Woman: "I greet you in the light." The young woman used the same phrase Mithrax had used to greet others.
"It is an honor to meet the Kell of House Light in person."
The young woman bowed her head in a show of respect, the young girl that was held by the older woman mirroring her actions and bowing as well. Mithrax released a low, raspy purr-like noise. He did not know how to respond to such a sign of respect. It was only recently that Guardians had begun to show their thanks to him and his Splicers, and only recently had he made friends with the Saint. Now that a civilian, not tied to any Guardian or person in power, was showing their gratitude towards him, he was unsure of what to do.
"Likewise, it was an honor to meet you." Mithrax turned, beginning to hastily walk away from the young mother.
"Wait!" the young woman called, reaching out to grab the Eliksnis cloak. "Thank you." She whispered, prompting Mithrax to turn around and face her once again.
"Your appreciation is misplaced. You should be thanking the Guardians, not me…"
"You're wrong. I know how hard you and your people have worked to help the Guardians."
Mithrax was perplexed by her response. "We are not the ones on the field. We are not the ones risking our lives."
Woman: "My husband works alongside your splicers, and he sees how straining it is on them. You and your people have done more than enough to earn your rights to live under the Traveler.''
Mithrax was taken aback by her words, only a select few had ever thanked him, and even fewer that were human.
"Thank you...your words are too kind."
"They're the truth, Kell of Light."
She bowed one last time at the Eliksni and gave her farewells, leaving Mithrax alone with his thoughts once again. He came to the city square to look for clarity on what may be coming in the future, and after speaking with the woman, he felt that he had finally found some answers.]
[The mood across the Last City had changed, many rejoicing at the return of the sun. There were those, however, who continued to look at the future, with anticipation of a coming storm. Lakshmi-2 stood high on the City walls, watching adventurous citizens mingle with the Eliksni. She focused her attention on an Eliksni peddler, who had fashioned several small machines from scrap metal. A small gaggle of children stood across the way, clearly interested in the robots as they moved aimlessly, but too frightened to approach the Eliksni. Lakshmi knew that the peddler would sell one of the robots, but none of the scraps, and end the day discouraged. It's a bright new day, she thought.
"It's a bright new day," a deep voice called out.
Lakshmi turned to see the former Warlock, Osiris, striding along the wall toward her.
"What a strange choice of words, The Darkness is closer than ever."
And in darkness, it's hard to differentiate between friend and foe. She remembered this conversation from her time in "The Device". Many of the potential futures it showed her led to this moment. Osiris was growing predictable.
"It is, and in the darkness, it's hard to tell friend from foe."
Lakshmi smiled inwardly. They were still well within the standard deviation.
"I'm surprised to hear you say that, Osiris. You are normally blessed with such uncommon clarity."
"My perspective has changed since I lost the Light," he began slowly. "Time is suddenly finite. It makes everything seem more… changeable. And if my perception can change, perhaps my enemies can as well."
"The folly of mortality." Lakshmi gestured to the scene below. "Those people could never understand time as we do, Osiris. You've peered behind the veil. You've seen the Vex simulations stretching endlessly. You understand that history is changeable… but also inevitable."
"I used to be certain of that," he agreed. "But now I have to wonder if history is inevitable, why am I being constantly surprised?"
Lakshmi chuckled. She had heard his comment before, of course, but her premonition had not adequately conveyed his fatuousness.
"And what do you think, Osiris? Will this bright new day last?" She nodded toward the Eliksni settlement. "Are we meant to share the Light with the Fallen?"
As if you would know, she thought. You no longer deal in predictions.
"I've given up on predictions, Lakshmi. I put my fate in the hands of the Traveler now more than ever before." He gave her a sidelong glance.
"And what do you say? Is this a new dawn?"
Lakshmi recalled the vision she had so fervently sought within the Device. The realization of her righteous victory over the Fallen—historical and preordained all at once. Her life's work, crawling minute by minute from the future into the present.
"No, this is just a flash of lightning before the coming storm."
[Several hours had passed since Mithrax spoke with that woman. He'd never asked her name, he thought to himself. Her kind words still echoed in his mind. The exhausted Kell returned to the Eliksni wing of the city, and he watched as caretakers were tucking hatchlings into their beds, whispering stories to them of the monster they called "The Saint". Some began to whisper stories of hope, stories that would ease the hatchlings to sleep. He smiled to himself, realizing that his people were starting to lose their fear of Saint-14. He began to hike up the stairs towards his chambers and felt his body crying in pain after walking around the seemingly endless streets of the city. The exhausted Kell entered his room, slowly removing his heavy armor, ready to rest his aching body. With a long, purr-like grumble, he removed the last piece of armor, laying his body to rest on the various cushions forming his bed. As Mithrax fell into a deep sleep, his muscles slowly began to be liberated from the aching pain, and his mind was finally allowed a moment's rest. Then, suddenly, he felt his mind being pulled into a deep, empty void, a space he was all too familiar with; the Vex simulation. Unable to feel and unable to touch, Mithrax felt as if he was floating endlessly through space - all he could do was gaze upon his surroundings.Suddenly, he saw threads of Vex codebeginning to manifest, slowly coiling around strange objects, the likes of which he could not comprehend. As sudden as the threads of code had appeared, portals by the hundreds began to manifest, and he watched as countless Vex soldiers marched through them. Mithrax was both confused and shocked at the sudden manifestation of such portals. Quria had been defeated! There was no one left to command these Vex. As his mind began to race with theories, he could see fingers of Darkness begin to caress these strange objects. They were Taken corruption. He knew now that Savathun was making another move; was it to invade the Tower, the Dreaming City, Europa? Before he could question further, he was jolted awake by the sound of screaming. He recognized the source - it was human. Eliksni Mithrax rushed outside of his chamber as Eliksni all around began to awake from their slumber. Hatchlings began crying in fear due to all the chaos around them. Humans bearing weapons were pointing them at the Eliksni yelling demands at them.
"EVERYONE OUTSIDE NOW. COMPLY, OR WE WILL OPEN FIRE."
Mithrax was shocked at this. Ikora could not have sanctioned this, no. It took him a moment to realize, but he knew exactly who orchestrated this attack.
"I KNEW IT, HUMANS HAVE COME FOR ELIKSNI-HEADS, WE MUST MAKE HASTE TO READY-SKI…" A shrill voice called out, a young Eliknsi peddler called out in fear but before he was able to finish his sentence.
"GAH!"
A loud gunshot was heard, followed by a sound - a sound Mithrax was well accustomed to. The shattering of Eliksni skin. The Eliksni who was yelling at the others to run had been killed, the sound of Ether escaping through the new hole formed in his cranium silencing all in the area.
"Running would not be wise. Come to the middle, lest you meet the same fate as them."
A hoarse voice was heard in between the armed humans, and many Eliksni recognized that voice. It brought many strong emotions of … rage. Lakshmi-2 emerged from the crowd, pointing her weapon at Mithrax as she spoke.
"Come, Kell of Light, I will allow you to gaze on our Traveler once again."]
[In the tower, Ikora Rey was deep in study inside the Hiddens library. She wanted to learn more of the Hive's history, and thanks to Eris Morn's discoveries on the moon, she was able to look deeper into their past.
"Daunting history, isn't it?"
Ikora turned to see her old mentor, resting against a large shelf of books.
"Osiris, it's good to see you again."
Ikora spoke in a somber tone. Since Osiris had lost his ghost, Sagira, he had been ever so distant from everyone he held dear. From her, and aint.
"Likewise. How has your indulgence of the Hive tomes been treating you?"
"They're not indulgences, Osiris. The Witch Queen is closer than ever, and we need to know everything we can about her ways of trickery."
Osiris began to walk closer to Ikora, and she could feel a mysterious aura radiating from him.
"Perhaps. Though I feel that we have learned more from our observations; The Guardian has provided useful information on her methods of trickery."
"That is correct, but I feel that it is important that we look at the Hive's written accounts of Savathun, lest we miss something important."
Osiris scoffed at Ikora's suggestions.
"How can we know it is not another ploy of Savathun to fool us?"
"We don't…" Ikora responds to Osiris in defeat. Ikora closes the book and looks at her old mentor.
"Osiris… "
"What is it?", Ikora stands up and begins to approach him,
"Saint and I … We have something to ask you."
Ikora saw Osiris averting his gaze from her, and she felt him straying further and further away. He wasn't the same Osiris she once knew. Before any words could be exchanged, the radio station roared to life, and a familiar voice could be heard on the other side; a voice which made Ikora grit her teeth in anger. Across the city, citizens and Guardians anticipated another one of Lakshmi-2's passionate speeches. They were not ready for what Lakshmi-2 had to say this time.
"People of the Last City: We have endured many great tragedies thanks to our strengths and steadfast commitment to humanity. The Traveler chose us. It abandoned the Fallen because they are unfit, unworthy, of the light. They would take it from us if they could. The Vanguard have lost their way. They embrace the Darkness, welcome Eramis's followers into our midst with open arms. They force us to celebrate our lost heroes alongside those who murdered them. Yes, the Endless Night is over, but now Mithrax and his house will use this opportunity to do what the Fallen have always done. Covet. Cheat. Steal. Kill. I have seen the future with my own eyes, and it has not changed. Doom still builds over your horizon like a terrible storm. But there is hope. Right now, loyalists to the Future War Cult and New Monarchy, have rounded up the Fallen in our city."
Halfway through Lakshmis' tirade of Eliksni, Ikora rushed out of her library, failing to notice that Osiris had vanished from the scene. She rushed to the hangar and watched as other guardians began to board their own ships.
"With the aid of Osiris, I have learned to safely command the power of the Vex. I will use it to do what the Vanguard will not. I will tear open a rift; banish the Fallen to the depths of space from whence they came. We alone will save humanity! I have seen the darkest of futures, and with this act, I will …. No! NO! ARGHHHHH…"
Her broadcast was violently interrupted, as Lakshmi-2 had unknowingly opened a rift for the Vex to invade the Last City. In all her broadcasts, she blamed the Fallen for bringing the destruction she had foreseen. In the end, however, she was the catalyst for the death and destruction that she foresaw.]
[Deep into the far districts of the Last City, the sounds of anguished screams and gunfire could be heard reverberating from miles away. Mithrax rushed to the aid of as many Eliksni that he could. He and his warriors fought back against the Vex, but their rain of fire was too overwhelming for the small armed force of Eliksni. They did not have enough firepower at their disposal to fight back against the Vex alone.
"Attention! Lakshmi has opened a Vex portal into the Last City. All Fireteams! Find and close that Incursion point!"
Ikoras voice could be heard through the intercoms of all those converging onto the Vex incursion point. Mithrax looked at the sky to see several ships landing near their position, Guardians rushing to their aid, their Light seething with rage towards the invading Vex.
"Mithrax, what's your status?" Mithrax could barely respond in between all the gunfire.
"We are overrun! Please, we cannot hold them off much longer!"
As Mithrax was dragging an Eliksni vandal to cover, he heard Saint's voice booming from his intercom.
"Do not worry, Mithrax, I am on my way."
"No! You must protect your people!"
"YOU ARE MY PEOPLE.''
Down the main street infested with Vex, Mithrax could see Saint-14 carving a path of destruction through the Vex army, leaving none standing. Mithrax watched and listened as Saint yelled at the top of his lungs to get the attention of a large group of Vex. He summoned forth his Sentinel Shield, a shield made entirely of Void energy. Saint hurled his shield at the group of Vex, carving through the machines as if they were made of tissue paper. Despite having become friends with Saint-14, Mithrax would never get used to the ferocity that Guardians displayed towards their enemies. Towards the center of the Eliksni district, dozens of Guardians were fighting back against the overwhelming fire of both Vex and the Taken force.
"ERIN! NOW!"
In the skies, a Hunter could be seen firing her bow, composed entirely of Void energy, its arrow finding its mark on a Taken Minotaur cranium, the resulting explosion sending tethers of Void to envelope those in its immediate surrounding. One arrow is all it took to eviscerate dozens of foes. The voice commanding the Hunter, the Warlock Hector-6, followed her example and leaped into the air, jutting his arm forward. He unleashed a large beam of Arc energy, completely disintegrating anything in its path.
"HECTOR, BEHIND YOU!"
Before the Warlock could react, a large hand grabbed his torso and yanked him out of the air. A large Taken Ogre had materialized behind him, catching Hector-6 in his moment of rest. Hector-6 tried to reach for his weapon, but the Taken Ogre's overwhelming strength made quick work of his Exo frame, turning what was once whole into nothing but bits and pieces. The Taken Ogre threw the Warlock's broken body through the walls of a ruined building, rubble covering his body. The Ogre turned around to continue his rampage against the Guardians, but its reaction was not fast enough to block the incoming ferocity from a Titan. The last thing the Taken Ogre saw before its life was whisked away once more was the brilliant light of a Titans' fist, seething with Arc energy. The Hunter, Erin, rushed to Hector-6s side, pulling the rubble off his corpse. His Ghost was hard at work bringing him back to life, and moments later, Hector breathed once more.
"Arghhh, damn it, my back still hurts like hell."
"That Ogre really banged you up. You should be more careful of your surroundings, you know." A small creature called out to him.
"Right, right. I used too much energy in that blast, apologies."
Erin sighed in relief at the exchange in front of her, but she knew this was no time for rest. Vex forces were still converging towards the pillar in the center of the district.
"Fellas, c'mon. We've almost busted through their defenses.''
The pair ran back to the center, finding the other Guardians already preparing to enter the Vex simulation. As they entered, their communication devices flared up and could hear Saint-14 on the other end with clear desperation in his voice.
"Are there any Guardians out there? We are in need of aid!"
No answer came to Saints pleas for help.
"We are alone. We must fight as if it is our last."
On that somber note, Mithrax prepares himself to fight his final battle. The Vex horde seemed endless, and he is unsure how he and his people will survive this attack.
"MITHRAX, STAY BEHIND ME!"
"Understood, I'll cover your flank. VANDALS! PROTECT THE UNARMED, LET NO VEX THROUGH!"
At his command, a band of armed Eliksni began taking roost on the roofs of buildings, firing down on the oncoming Vex. Eliksni and Vex were being killed in droves, the Vex not sparing any time to grieve towards their brethren. They felt no emotion, and they showed no mercy to any who stood in their path of ultimate understanding.]
[Dozens of Guardians were now deep inside the Vex code, weaving their way towards the Subjugated Mind, towards their victory.
"How much further until the Vex Mind?" Erin asks another Hunter, Dionysus.
"Should be coming up soon, even after so many trips through this place I can never tell the beginning from the end."
Erin understood his sentiment; the Vex simulations always made her head spin. she was thankful the Vex couldn't code away everyone from the city.
"You're telling me. This place gives me a headache - let's finish this quick."
Veqan, the Titan who had eviscerated the Taken Ogre, was stumbling across the paths weaved by the Guardians.
"Hey, thanks for taking out that big guy for me. That bastard tore me a new one."
"I didn't do it for you. Those things deserve to be annihilated; you should know that by now."
"Right . . . Thanks, anyway."
The exchange shared between the two Guardians was filled with emotions of disdain and guilt. Not long after, the Guardians finally reached the portal to the Subjugated Mind.
"Alright. Let's end this thing."
An enthusiastic Titan leaped through the portal to face their opponent, and the others followed suit, finding a large room filled with Vex soldiers who immediately opened fire. The Guardians unleashed their Light upon the Vex army, the violent nature of their attack leaving few Vex standing in their wake of destruction; only the strongest of Vex could survive the initial barrage of attacks, though they too fell swiftly to the Guardians endless barrage of Light.
"The Subjugated Mind - quick, we need to stop the Vex portals!"
A Guardian calls out to focus their attack onto the Vex Mind, which was in the process of opening more portals to the Last City.
"We have to kill it quickly."
"On it!"
A Guardian readied their rocket launcher, but before they could fire, the Subjugated Mind teleported them to another part of the simulation.
"Shit, we have to go back, now!"
The Guardians began to fight through the new defenses the Subjugated Mind laid out for them. Pushing through, they forced their way back into the Minds domain, ready to defeat it once and for all.
"FOCUS FIRE!"
Hector-6 shot a large rocket, embedding it into the stomach of the Vex Mind, stunning it for only a few moments - but a few seconds were all that Guardians needed to finish off their enemies. In those few moments, the Subjugated Mind was obliterated, reduced to nothing more than scrap, and the resulting death led to a loud celebration and unanimous sighs of relief.
"YEAH! WOOHOO, WE DID IT!"
"Indeed we did. Good job, everyone."
"It's not over yet. The Vex in the city are still rampaging, we must go back now!"
At Vaqans realization, everyone scrambled to leave the simulation to return to the city. As the portals to the city began to collapse, Erin caught a glimpse of what was shown on the other side. She could make out the familiar landscape of the city, but she saw a few portals which lead to places she didn't recognize. Erin approached the portals, peering through. She saw large dunes of sand, spanning for miles upon miles, and in the distance, she could make out a large structure, a blindingly white tower that pierced the heavens. The Hunter was shocked at this, as she hadn't ever seen, let alone know, that a structure like that existed.
"WOW! That looks beautiful, where is that tower? Earth? Mars?"
Erin pondered on where it could be, not realizing that Hector-6 was calling out to her.
"Hey, Erin, c'mon. It's time to leave, they still need our help out there."
"I'll be right there, gimme a second."
Erin knew she had to back and help the Eliksni fight off the remaining Vex, and reluctantly, she begins to walk away from the portal when suddenly -
"AH, SHIT!"
A Vex Minotaur, one which survived the initial attack from the Guardians, sprung a surprise attack on the Hunter.
"ERIN!" Hector-6 turned around to see his friend being attacked by a Minotaur.
"Shit, I'M COMING ERIN!"
Erin was caught off guard. She didn't anticipate a surprise attack after the Mind was destroyed, and she didn't have enough time to pull out her weapon to attack. The Minotaur pushed its immense weight onto the Hunter, inching her closer and closer to being completely submerged through the portal.
"DAMNIT HECTOR, SHOOT IT!"
Hector-6 pulled out his hand cannon and fired multiple rounds into the Minotaur, but unfortunately, its frame was already leaning over Erin. With its life sapped away, there was nothing left to hold it upright and the full brunt of its weight fell forward and Erin couldn't stop its overwhelming push against her anymore.
"ERIN!"
Hector-6 reached out to grab his friend, but he wasn't fast enough, the portal dematerialized in front of him, leaving behind the legs of the Minotaur. Hector fell to his knees, his friend was now lost on the other side of the portal, her fate being unknown to him.]
"Hey, welcome back. This is the "updated" version of the first chapter. I went back and changed some things that I didn't really like, such as punctuation, dialogue, etc. This was just a quick update for this chapter specifically, nothing too crazy though if needs be I will go back and fix/edit other chapters down the line if people seem to be dissatisfied or if I'm dissatisfied with my own work. Thank you again for reading, I will see you in Chapter 3."
Though by the time I post this edit Chapter 3 will most likely be out.
