Hello, all! I'm back with an update for my Gargoyles series! So, these stories will deal with Goliath and Elisa telling everyone about their new relationship. For those who are new to my stories, they take place during my "Gargoyles: Night Souls" series, which starts after the cartoon season two finale, "Hunter's Moon". They also divert from the canon that the comics follow. I love the comics but I wanted to do my own thing.
This particular first part of the story takes place not too long after "More Than What We Are" and deals with Goliath and Angela. The other parts will take place in other intervals and I'll let you know where.
I hope all of you enjoy this!
Family Bonds – Part 1
The sun had fully set on Manhattan and the gargoyles roared awake from their stone sleep. After stretching out a bit, they all met in the castle courtyard.
"Man," Brooklyn looked around. "It's still feels weird waking up in the castle."
"Tell me about it," Broadway agreed.
"It's like some kind of dream," Lexington added. "I'm waiting until we have to wake up."
"Let's hope we don't."
"Goliath, how's Elisa been with everything?" Brooklyn asked.
"She's doing well," Goliath answered. "She's going back on her patrol tomorrow night."
"Tell her to watch out for those Quarrymen," Lexington warned.
"Yeah, that random video on the news was scary," Broadway added.
"It was just to take advantage of the humans' fears since they know we exist," Hudson declared. "We'll have to deal with these Quarrymen, sooner or later, I'm sure. But we can face them together."
"Agreed," Goliath nodded. "We had best begin our watch. Angela, I would like you and I to patrol together."
"Of course," Angela agreed.
An hour later, Goliath and Angela glided toward Coney Island. So far, the night had been quiet. Even with the news of the Quarrymen about, they hadn't caused any problems yet.
"No sign of any trouble," Angela said.
Goliath grunted in agreement.
"Perhaps we should head back to Manhattan."
"Actually… in a moment," Goliath replied. "I need to speak with you, alone, Angela."
"Alright," Angela nodded.
"There," Goliath pointed to an empty rooftop. They glided over and landed on the roof. "Sit down, please," Goliath motioned toward the raised ledge.
Angela sat down. "What is it, Father? Is… is everything alright?"
"I would like to think so. But I want to make sure first. And that would depend on you."
"How so?"
"It's about myself and Elisa."
Angela leaned her head to the side. "What about you and Elisa?"
"We've…" Goliath began as he paced before her, "decided to pursue a relationship with one another. We're in love with each other, Angela. And… we wish to see it through."
Angela stared at Goliath in shock. Then, she smiled as brightly as she could followed by jumping to her feet, throwing her arms around Goliath, and hugging him as tightly as she could. "Father! That's wonderful news!"
Goliath smiled and exhaled in relief as he hugged Angela back. "I'm relieved this made you happy."
Angela looked up at him. "You thought it wouldn't?"
"We, Elisa and I, were concerned at how you would react."
They broke the hug as Angela explained, "Father, you never had to be concerned about that. Elisa is a wonderful person. I adore her. And I care far more about your happiness than anything. And hers."
"Why?" he asked.
"Because of all you sacrifice for the Clan," she answered. "For your duty. You deserve something that makes you happy."
"My duty has always been to the Clan."
"And that's a duty you perform masterfully. But I mean… you should have more to look forward to than what books to read."
He shot her a droll look.
She just smiled in return.
"But you truly don't mind? At all?"
"Not in the slightest. I've wanted this for you and her, for a long time."
"You have?" Goliath asked.
"Actually," Angelia said, coyly, "all of us have."
"'All of us'?"
She held her smile.
"Oh, jalapeña…"
Angela's smile slowly fell away. She looked away for a moment then back at Goliath, "Does… it bother Elisa… I'm Demona's daughter?"
"Elisa loves you, Angela," Goliath reassured. "Demona's crimes are not a burden Elisa would ever place on you."
"I would understand if she did."
"Nonsense. Elisa holds you in high regard, with or without her love for me. You are her friend."
"As long as she knows she means so much to me, too," Angela said. "I love her as though she were family."
"She feels the same," Goliath replied.
Angela smiled in relief. "Father! This is such wonderful news!"
"I hope the rest of the Clan will be as happy as you are."
"Oh. I'm quite sure they will be!"
