Sorry, sorry! I forgot that some people might not know what this is. *clears throat* Welcome to my mini series of AUs. This chapter is part of the 2012 series, it will make it's appearance every now and then for a...surprise at the end hehehehehehehe.
Kara planted her feet on the rooftop she just landed on while throwing her hands in the air for a stretch, popping her back in the process. Letting out a relieved sigh she turned to look at the view of the city a small smirk itching her lips; despite everything that has happened from the very beginning of her meeting the turtles to their latest, and possibly, last adventure with the Dimensional Turtles and Dragan two years ago the city stayed the same. Her brows lifted at that thought making her look down at her hands; yes, the city may not have changed but her friends were from Dragan and Leo leaving for Scotland for a family emergency, Raph and Mona having left for Salamandria due to a surprise pregnancy. April and Casey were focusing on school now that everything was at peace which left Donnie, Mikey, and her.
Mikey was having a hard time adjusting to his two oldest brothers not being around so he'd spend most of his time with the Mighty Mutanimals or Brilliance.
A good thing with all the spare time she and Donnie were finally able to spend more quality time together alone but even from time to time she would notice something was off; having a sort of distant look in his eyes as if he wasn't himself..as if a part of him was missing.
Taking her cap off to run her hand through her hair she began to pace around til she stopped in place when a thought came to her mind; was their friendship based only on their adventures? She bit her lip trying to remember when was the last time they just hung out as teenagers, as friends? Was there ever a time that a simple visit didn't turn into some huge event?
Was their relationship a lie?
Her breathing became uneven when the doubt circled her thoughts, gripping her cap in her hands tight to the point her knuckles were turning white.
"Kara!"
She was snapped out of her thoughts from being spun around, coming face to face with a worried Donnie. "Kara..you ok?" He looked her over, tension not only in her body language but eyes as well. Seeing her relax he loosened his grip, now rubbing her arms. It took her a second to calm down, letting out a sigh and leaning against him, "I don't know, Donnie.." She muffled into his shoulder.
Donnie and Kara were sitting on the roof of the Argosy, she sitting between his legs with him holding her as she tells him what she's been thinking about. He listened closely, squeezing her when he could feel her doubting herself, "You know that's not true. Yes, it may have started that way but I don't doubt that the friendship, or relationship, we have isn't real." He placed his hand under chin and gently turned her head to have her look at him.
Staring at him for a moment she closed her eyes, both of them touching foreheads, "Now that everyone is going their separate ways...I just don't want to be alone again."
"I promise you, Kara, I won't leave you alone."
She laid her head against his plastron, being in his arms easing her mind. She let out a soft sigh while looking down at their hands before she put her hand around his and lifted them up to the sky looking over the differences, "Seeing myself from that other dimension makes me wonder...are there other dimensions where we meet? Are we friends? Is it possible our friendship can last more than one lifetime?"
Donnie covered his hand with hers and brought her hand to his lips, giving her a smile, "I don't see why not."
Her cheeks flushed shyly while looking down but had the purest smile on her face. "Yeah, me neither."
