Chapter 1
The curse.
6 months ago.
In the enchanted forest a chariot that is a dark purple with aqua green windows. In the chariot is a woman with aqua green hair, and eye color to match. She has got a powerful wand in her hand; as if ready to cast a spell. She is wearing a dark pink jacket with purple shirt underneath. She is wearing a black skirt with purple leggings, and black combat boots. She looks out the back of the chariot to see she is being pursued by four people on horseback.
One of them use to be her best friend when she was in Aurodon. Now that the two worlds have merge just like she has planned; she can enact the final curse to get revenge on Queen Mal, and her family.
On horseback Queen Mal along with Regina, her husband King Ben, and Emma Swan are in pursuit of her former friend now enemy Mad Maddy. They find that she is very difficult to catch up to. "Hopefully we can catch her before she has time to enact the curse." Mal thinks as they are almost upon her. They are almost upon her; when the chariot gets a burst of speed.
"No! We are too late now the curse is going to happen, and I'll loose my family, and my friends" Mal says trying to cry.
"Don't worry Mal I managed to call in some back up." Regina says as she lets out a whistle.
Mal looks behind her, and sees a huge wolf, and something that looks like a tyrannosaurus.
"Don't worry Lady Mal. Me, and Ruby have got this" Tyrant telepathically says to Mal as he, and Ruby begin to track to chariot.
Inside the chariot Mad Maddy thinks that she managed to get away from them, but startled when she feels a sudden jolt on the side of the chariot. She looks out the window, and sees Tyrant bashing the side of the chariot with his head. The next bash causes the chariot to flip, and makes the horses pulling the chariot run off. Ruby gets on top of the chariot, and using her wolf strength rips the door off. She then grabs Maddy with her mouth, and plops her in the mud beside the turned over chariot.
At that moment in a puff of teleportation smoke Regina, Mal, and Emma appear in front of Maddy.
"It's over Maddy; you have lost. Your curse will never come to be." Regina says glaring at Maddy.
"Silly Queen you think you can stop this curse; when you couldn't stop your own curse Regina, or should I say Evil Queen." Maddy replies.
Now.
In the town of Storybrooke a blonde twelve-year-old girl with purple tips is entering an apartment complex. As she is about to enter the apartment; she looks at the room number, and heads right inside. When she gets to the room number; she knocks on the door. Footsteps are heard, and woman in her early twenties with blonde hair, and is wearing a black dress answers the door. She looks at the girl questionably.
"May I help you?" the woman asks with a smile on her face.
"Is your name Maddie Bertha?" the girl asks.
"Yes, why are you asking?" Maddie replies.
"Well, you might find this hard to believe. But, I'm actually your daughter Maya Bertha Florian." Maya replies.
"I actually don't have a daughter, so bye." Maddie says as she is about to shove the door on Maya's face, but before she could Maya barges into the room.
"Look, you can't just barge into a stranger's house like this!" Maddie says trying not to get angry at the girl.
"I know this is a lot to take in, but you need to come back with me."Maya replies.
"Oh, I'm coming back with you; cause you need to be with your parents" Maddie says.
At that moment footsteps can be heard as someone is coming up the steps. Followed by a low booming voice.
"Maddie I'm home!" the voice says from down the stairs.
"Oh, crap it's my boyfriend Harold! You gotta hide!" Maddie says in a paniced voice as she tries to hide Maya.
But, before Maddie could get Maya to hide; Harold burst in the room, and is a little shocked by what he sees.
"My, my my. What have we got here Maddie?" Harold asks as he takes his top hat off to great Maya.
Harold looks like a gentleman, but with a look like he is also someone who is sinister. He has blue eyes, and a look that he can be quite a flirt.
"This is so messed up." Maya says looking at Harold.
"Whatever do you mean deary?" Harold asks.
"I know who you are, and you need to stay away from my mother." Maya replies.
"Your mother?! Maddie you definitely got some explaining to do!" Harold replies a little angry.
Back months ago.
After capturing Mad Maddie; both Queen Mal, and King Ben visit her in the dungeon.
"You really thought you could stop me, just cause you are now ruler of Aurodon?!" Mad Maddie replies.
"We just did stop you, and your curse will end" Mal says trying to snarl at Maddie.
"Oh, as I said before you think just cause your mentor Regina was able to stop some curses; you think this curse can be stopped?! Well, guess what traitor?! It can't, and won't be stopped, so say goodbye to your family Mal, cause it will be the last time you remember them." Maddie replies laughing as she is backing in the dungeon.
After that conversation Mal calls for a meeting of the council. The council comes, and they consist of member from Aurodon as well as Storybrooke. The council members are Mal, Ben, Regina, Emma Swan, Killian, Evie, Jay, Carlos, Tyrant, Ruby, Belle, and Rumple.
"We all know why each of us are here; we must find a way to stop Mad Maddie's curse before it is too late." Mal says addressing the council.
"I've studied curse, and there is a way to break it." Rumple says smiling.
How?" Mal asks looking a little desperate.
"Well, dearie this curse can be broken like the first one; remember Regina?" Rumple says looking at Regina.
"How can I forget it was my son Henry who helped, and his mother Emma who broke it" Regina replies giving a knowing look to Rumple.
"What does that have to do with anything?" Mal asks trying to get them to focus.
"Well, see Mal when I initiated my first curse. I made it so that I was the only one who would remember what really happened, and Rumple made it so that he would remember what happened when he heard Emma's name the first time. We didn't know he did that, so that way he could enact his own agenda." Regina explains to Mal as she is giving a glare to Rumple.
"That is all in the past dearie. The point is we will be able to make Maya remember all of us. But, for this curse to be broken we actually need two people to remember. One who will remember, and watch over Maya while the person is pretending to not know; the other will remember when they hear Maya's name." Rumple explains.
"That sounds really complicated. So, we would need one person from each of the lands; both Aurodon, and the enchanted forest?" Carlos asks a little confused.
"That is correct." Rumples.
Mal sits back down in her seat, and tries to think of who would be a good fit for those two positions. "So, who would work for these two parts of the curse?" Mal says to herself thinking.
"I think I should do it." Evie says out of concern.
"No! I can't have you do that." both Regina, and Mal say.
"And, just why not?" Evie asks.
"Well, for one thing you are my best friend; I couldn't risk it." Mal replies.
"Another thing is Evie dear, you're pregnant. You, and Doug should be thinking more about the baby than anything else." Regina replies.
Evie upon hearing the response looks at her well rounded 6 month pregnant stomach, and rubs it. "I guess you're right" she agrees as she holds Doug's hand.
"Now I think I know someone who can be one part of the curse that will remember everything before the curse took place, and how we were once one land, and united." Regina says.
"Who do you have in mind mother?" Evie asks as she feels the little girl kicking.
"Myself." Regina answers.
"What?! I can't allow you to do that!" Mal exclaims upon hearing that.
"Mal calm down, come over here, and talk to me." Regina says as she is leading Mal away from the council table.
Once they are away from the council. Regina begins to ask Mal some questions.
"First of all, Mal what is wrong with me; as the guardian? I mean you saw how I did at raising Henry." Regina replies.
"Its not that. All this stress with the curse coming, and trying to plan everything. I'm not sure I can go through it. I mean forgetting all my friends Evie, Carlos, Jay, and Ben, and even you. I just can't bear it." Mal explains.
"Mal, you have got to relax. Look I'll look after Maya while she is trying to break the curse; after all you made me her godmother for a reason; not just cause I did a good job raising Evie was it."Regina replies smiling trying to reassure Mal.
"You're right, it was cause I trust you. I mean you, and my mom, and my sister Lily, and Haddie all helped me when my magic was trying to get out of control. You especially helped me to control my new found magic when we first came to the enchanted forest." Mal replies. "Okay you can be the guardian, but if anything happens to Maya while I'm gone; you'll be in very big trouble with not just me, but with the beast out there" she says eyes glowing green.
"Don't worry nothing will happen to her, and my part will be when I hear your new name I will remember the before times." Regina says.
6 months later.
Maddie, Harold, and Maya are heading into Storybrooke.
"So, Maya would you mind telling me where you live?" Maddie asks.
She points to the town hall, and right next to it is a white house that has some apple trees in it.
"I ran away from there; it is kind of an orphanage." Maya explains.
"Well we'll make sure you get back in there, and safe." Maddie replies as they pull into the driveway.
Waiting in the driveway is a lady who looks to be in her late thirties; with a black coat on, and black skirt. She looks at the convertible, and sees Maya in the back. Maddie, and Harold pull Maya out, and usher her towards the lady.
"Oh, thank heavens you found her. I was so worried about little Maya." the lady says.
"It was no problem; she was a very nice guest to us." Maddie says
"You can say that; she nearly made fall with that kick of hers" Harold says still rubbing his knee.
"What she kicked you? Maya how many times have I told you violence is never the answer?!" the lady says scolding Maya.
"Only about a million times." Maya says muttering under her breath.
"I'm so sorry this happened miss um" the lady says as she is asking for a name.
"Oh, I'm Maddie, Maddie Bertha." Maddie says shaking her hand.
"Oh, Maddie huh that is a wonderful name. My name is actually Regina, and I run this orphanage" Regina says after hearing that name with a bit of recognition in her face.
At that moment a thunderstorm begins to roll in. "Oh, dear it appears that a storm is rolling in. Why don't you, and Harold stay for the night? We have some extra rooms." Regina says offering them a room.
"That sound nice but." Harold replies.
"Actually I think that would be a better idea, and Harold I think my car will be dry by then." Maddie replies.
As they head inside; Regina pulls Maya aside.
"Maya is that her?" Regina asks with a knowing look.
"You mean my mom's cursed form? I think so, cause why else would you ask me that. Unless you remember too." Maya says.
"Yes, I do, but we mustn't mention anything to headmistress Alyson, or else there will be trouble. Now let's pinky swear we won't say anything." Regina says holding her pinky towards Maya.
Maya puts her pinky finger in her godmothers, and the two swear not to tell headmistress Alyson. After the two make the promise that is when the door opens; revealing a lady that wears a lot of pink with some aqua green hair. The lady is so badly soaked from the storm; that her pink umbrella is nearly torn. As she enters she glares at Maddie, and Regina.
"Regina?! What are these two people doing in my orphanage?!" the lady asks angrily.
"Well madam Mayor Alyson, and headmistress. You see they need shelter from the storm, so I thought that maybe they could stay here" Regina tries to explain.
"Regina, out all the incompetent people at this town. You should know the rules at this orphanage. Unless they are here to adopt; then they'll have to find the nearest hotel." Alyson says glaring angrily at Regina.
"Oh, but they are here to adopt" Regina says.
"We are?" Maddie says in confusion.
"Yes they are here to adopt Maya, and they can do a trial for a few days." Regina says giving a trusting look to Maya as she pushes Maya towards Maddie.
"Well, I'll allow it; they just have to fill out a form, and I'll" Alyson begins to talk.
"But, we can't possibly just." Harold begins to say right when Maddie elbows him in the gut.
"I'm sure we'd be glad to take her for a few days." Maddie says.
"Good, then Maya why don't you go pack up your things, and I'll be up there to help you." Regina says as she follows Maya up to her room.
In the past
After her conversation with Regina; Mal returns to the council.
"So, we now have someone from the enchanted forest who can remember my daughter. Now all we need is someone from Aurodon to remember" Mal explains
At that moment the door to the council chamber opens up, and reveals Uma. Seeing Uma again Mal, Emma, Regina, Jay, and Carlos get ready to fight her, but Uma holds her hand up as if to surrender.
"Relax I'm not here to fight you. I want to be the one to remember your daughter Mal." Uma explains.
Seeing that she comes in peace; they lower their weapons, and shut down their magic.
"Why would you want that? You nearly tried to destroy Aurodon" Mal asks her eyes glowing.
"Mal, you know I'm not that person anymore. Ever since you made me ambassador of the Isle; I've changed. You made me a better person. Let me do this as a way to make up for all that I did; a way to redeem myself for what I've done when I was evil" Uma replies.
"I think we should listen to her." Evie says.
"What?!" both Mal, and Regina reply.
"You can't be serious?! After what I heard how she tried to work with Hades, and tried to destroy King Ben?!" Regina asks.
"Also, Evie, you forgot that she kidnapped Ben, and tried to get him to fall for her. Luckily true love's kiss broke that spell. Just like you said it would" Mal explains.
"I know she did those things, but do you remember how she saved Aurodon last time. How you two remember being friends? Then using both you're dragon powers, and her necklace to stop Audrey from turning all of Aurodon to stone." Evie explains trying to get out of her chair. "I also remember the promise you made to her; to break down the barrier; which you did"
"Evie, you are right; Uma deserves a second chance"
"What?! Mal think about what you are doing. I mean sure she use to be your friend, but she stabbed you in the back. She doesn't deserve a second chance" Emma says.
Mal stares at Emma with her glowing green eyes. "Really Emma out of all the people to say that; you should know better. Remember my older sister Lily; you gave her a second chance. Now look at her she is now a member of this council. I say Uma deserves a second chance at both being a friend, and for one to remember."
Now.
As Maya is packing about ready to start her new life with her mom; Regina is waiting for Maya to be ready. She is also holding something in her hands; some sort of book. As Maya is about ready to head for the car; Regina stops her, and pulls her aside.
"Maya, my wonderful goddaughter. Before you leave; your mother wanted me to give you this. She said that even though she won't remember you; that with this book she will be with you always." Regina says handing Maya the book.
The book is a bright blue with gold writing on it; it reads on the cover My Once Upon A Time. Maya opens the book, and sees something written on the inside of the cover in her mother's handwriting. To remember me; when I can't remember you, and to help me find my way back to you. Maya nearly has tears welling up in her eyes as she reads what her mother wrote her.
"Hey c'mon we can find a hotel in town, and Harold are you sure you're going to be okay staying here for a few days?" Maddie asks as he gets in the passenger seat.
"Pretty sure, I mean this all seems a little weird. You wanting to adopt a child" Harold says still a little confused.
As the car leaves the orphanage, and starts to head for the cabin hotel in the woods. Regina waves bye to her goddaughter. As they are driving through the woods; Maya begins to read the book. Curious about her parents; especially her mom that she just met, but feels like she knew all her life. Suddenly something hairy crosses, the street; causing Maddie to swerve and accidently hit the thing. Maddie screams as the car lurches over to the side, and comes to a stop on the side of the road.
Concerned for what she may have hit; Maddie gets out of the car. She rushes over to where the animal was, but in its place is a man with a bit of beard on his face, and dressed in yellow, and Blue.
"What the heck is going on here?" Maddie thinks to herself as she sees the man.
Man this was so much fun to work on, and wow can you believe what all has happened. I mean Regina being Maya's godmother. Also who do you think the guy is that Maddie hit? Now before I go a big thank you to my friend Emma who has helped so much with this story, and I hope to make more.
