Here we get a little more back story, hope you enjoy it. And I forgot to mention I of course don't own these characters I can only wish...
Chapter 3
Arizona woke up with her head pounding, after a few seconds of trying to focus she saw it wasn't even 7 o'clock, she groaned, as she tried to move, but was pinned down by a naked Callie. Groaning again, she desperately needed to use the bathroom. "baby" she tried waking Callie up, but nothing "baby" she said again shaking her, but still nothing. "dammit" she said trying to move, finally after a few minutes of fighting she got free. "thank god" she jumped up, head pounding even more, she made her way to the bathroom. Then in search of some Tylenol, before climbing back into bed. Molding herself around Callie, she closed her eyes trying to get back to sleep. All the sudden her eyes popped open, remembering what was said last night. Looking at Callie, as bad as her head hurt, she smiled. Seeing Callie move, and her eyes pop open. They shared a smile "what time is it?"
"last I looked at the clock 7:30"
"ugh" she groaned stretching, as Arizona laid her head on her chest.
"how you feeling?" Callie asked running her fingers through Arizona's hair
"had a headache when I woke up, but it's going away now"
"you drink some water?"
"yes, I had some when I took the pills"
"good" Callie smiled closing her eyes. Opening them when she heard Arizona whisper "I love you" looking into Arizona's eyes she smiled and said "I love you too" Arizona moved enough so she could kiss her, wincing in pain. "are you ok?"
"yeah, my body just hurts"
"no doubt it does" Callie smiled remembering all the times they made love. Arizona ended up just laying on top of Callie still too weak to do any more. "you still want to go to my parent's place?"
"hmm, I've been thinking" Arizona picked her head up wanting to see the reaction on Callie's face "why don't we stay here" she stopped, Callie looked disappointed "if that's what"
"you didn't let me finish" Arizona smiled "and pack up my stuff"
"where you going?" she asked confused
"to live with you"
"seriously?" Callie smiled
"seriously" Arizona said "I want to soak in that tub"
"so, you're just moving in with me for the tub"
"mmhmm" Arizona nodded smiling as she leaned up to kiss her. Her head still pounding she laid it down on Callie's chest.
"still hurt"
"mmhmm" Callie reached up running her hand through her hair. "get some rest" she kissed the top of Arizona's head.

Later that day, after they were cleaned up and Arizona's hang over gone, they started packing up Arizona's belongings which were scattered throughout the hotel room. "how do I have so much stuff?"
"I'm not sure" Callie laughed "you have been here for a month"
"and this isn't even it, I still have stuff at home I need"
"home?" Callie asked confused
"yeah back home in Wisconsin" Arizona smiled "it's really not much, just stuff I couldn't bring with on the plane, you know like my car"
"what kind of car?" Callie asked sitting down on the bed
"it's a 2014 Ford Fusion"
"you know, we could get you a new car"
"I'm still making payments on him, so"
"alright, we'll make plans to get him then" she smiled
"maybe I can get Teddy to drive it out"
"no don't do that, I like the idea of visiting Wisconsin" Callie smiled.
"ok well, once I get settled, I'll see about taking some time off work, so we can do that" she said looking around the room, I think I got everything, you ready?"
"yes" Callie said reaching down grabbing a bag throwing it over her shoulder, then reached for another.

With everything finally loaded in Callie's car, they drove away from the hotel, where they had first met. "it's going to be weird not seeing you every morning" Callie said, they had made it a point every morning to have breakfast together before Arizona headed to work.
"you'll still see me every day"
"yeah but not at work" Callie smiled "but this will be better" she added with a wink. "now you'll get to see me naked every morning" Callie let out a laugh and said "ok that is better". Pulling up in front of Callie's house, Arizona took a deep breath, she couldn't believe this was where she was going to be living. Another thought crossed her mind, should she take a spare bedroom or share with Callie. Shaking a bit, not knowing what to do, she hadn't thought this through. Was she ready to be completely together? She did love her, but if she had her own room, she'd have some privacy. Not knowing what Callie wanted, she started biting her nails. "is something wrong?"
"ah" Arizona said looking out the window "no" she added quietly
"ok" Callie said climbing out of the car, she retrieved what bags she could, as Arizona followed. Once inside the house, she headed down the hall to one of the empty bedrooms. "I figured we'd put your stuff in here, as far as sleeping goes, you can do as you feel fit"
"ok" Arizona smiled shyly; she must have read her mind. She watched as Callie set the bags she was carrying on the bed.
"I'm going to go see what I have here for dinner" she walked over kissing Arizona's cheek "I'll see you in a bit"
"ok" Arizona smiled, feeling that feeling in the pit of her stomach, at knowing she'd never be far away from her. Shaking her head, she set to work unpacking. Realizing she needed more work clothes, she made a mental note to see if Callie wanted to go shopping. She laughed to herself remembering Joann and how she hated shopping but went anyway just to spend time with her. The memories of Joann caught her by surprise. A tear slipped out of her eye, running down her face. She hadn't thought about her since accepting the job. Wiping the tear away she sighed, smiling, she wouldn't want her to be sad. Digging through her work bag she pulled out a few pictures, that she kept forgetting to put on her desk. One was of her and Joann taken a few weeks before she passed away. They were sitting on some rocks with the lake in the background. Staring at it she felt the tears sting her eyes again. Until she heard a knock on the door "hey, I found some steaks in the freezer, what do you say I toss them on the grill?" Looking up at Callie, she couldn't hold back the tears any longer. "oh baby, what's wrong?" Callie asked walking into the room, putting an arm around her, seeing the picture in her hand.
"I'm sorry" Arizona said wiping the tears away "I was just" she held up the picture
"who is this?" Callie asked softly
"this is Joann, my first and only girlfriend"
"first and only?" Callie asked confused, she hadn't mentioned her before
"yes" Arizona nodded, looking Callie in the eye, sighing "she was killed in a car accident"
"oh" Callie said not knowing what else to say. She felt Arizona start to tremble, prompting her to wrap her arms around her pulling her into a tight hug. "I'm sorry" Arizona sobbed into her shoulder
"don't be"
"I know I haven't told you about her" she sobbed
"it's ok" Callie whispered rubbing her head, Arizona pulled back looking at Callie "I can tell you now" she said sniffling. Callie nodded, leading them to the bed to sit down, Arizona laid her head on her chest as she began "we met Freshman year in high school, started dating once we realized we were both gay. She was my first and only" she looked up in Callie's eyes "until you" Callie smiled "she was my best friend, we did everything together, which is why the only friend I have is Teddy. They all left when they found out we, I was gay. Being from a small town in Wisconsin people weren't that accepting of gays, especially back in the 90's" Callie nodded "my family was amazing, when we came out to them my mom said that she loved us both no matter what, my dad, smiled and asked me if I was still the girl he raised me to be, when my reply was yes, he smiled and said he already knew" Arizona paused to wipe some tears out of her eyes "everyone loved Joann, as much as I did. Junior year, when her parents found out, by then we had been together for over a year, they weren't as accepting as mine were. She ended up moving in with us" she paused again looking in Callie's eyes "I haven't ever told our story, it feels weird"
"well keep going" Callie whispered
"after graduation, we both got accepted to the University of Minnesota, in Duluth, I chose to go there because it was only an hour away from home, and we could visit every chance we got. Graduating in 2004, we headed back to our small town. I got a job in the town next to ours on the newspaper, she however couldn't find one, which was fine with me, I had no problem supporting us both, while she went in search of her perfect job. One night, after I had gotten home from a shit day" she took a deep breath, "I had forgotten to call, and it was raining hard, had been all day, by the time I got home it was already 9" she sniffled "we got into a fight, and she stormed out, I called after her to come back, but she was so pissed, I hadn't ever seen her like that before. She took off in her truck, skidding around the corner. I waited for hours for her to come back, until I got a call from my dad. At the time he was the sheriff" she stopped "she had stopped to help an old couple who ran out of gas, and a semi came down the road, losing control, slamming into her truck, which she was sitting in, talking to my dad on the phone. He said he pulled up just as it happened. She" she paused trying to hold back the sobs "she was killed on impact, the driver of the semi, and the old couple weren't injured, but I lost the love of my life, and all because I had forgotten to call and tell her I was running late" Callie held her tighter, kissing her forehead. "shh"
"like I said I'm sorry, I'm broken, in more ways than one. After she died, I slipped into a depression so deep, my family thought about having me committed. A year went by, I was starting to feel better, actually getting out of bed during day light hours" Arizona let out a small chuckle "I was online one day and found the ad for the job here. One of our dreams was to get away from the cold winters, she always wanted to move to Cali, so I applied, and well, here I am"
"are you sure you're ready for a relationship?"
"I believe" Arizona said reaching up touching Callie's cheek "I believe that Joann sent you to me. How else do you explain how quickly we fell for each other" Arizona smiled "I'm sorry I'm such a mess, steaks sound amazing by the way" she kissed her
"are you going to be ok?"
"yes" Arizona smiled looking in Callie's eyes "I will be"
Callie smiled, "I have the steaks thawing, I'm going to head down and get the grill going" she pressed a kiss on Arizona's lips. "you coming?"
"right behind you" Arizona smiled, setting the picture on the table next to the bed, following Callie downstairs.

Arizona looked around the house, she would be living in. Realizing she hadn't even shown her yet where the other bathrooms are Callie laughed at herself. "feel free to look around, I know I haven't shown you anything besides the two bedrooms" Arizona smiled as she made her way into the living room, she heard Callie call out from the kitchen "the door on the right is the downstairs bathroom" Arizona looked up seeing a door, realizing then that she needed to use it, she opened the door to the bathroom the smell of lavender engulfed her nose. Smiling, she knew from that point on that smell would remind her of Callie.
Standing in the doorway to the kitchen she was watching Callie, as she worked on dinner, she quietly started singing, that same Jamie Davis song that Joann used to sing all the time. The memories came rushing back. Making Arizona smile, she had always loved that song. Callie jumped when she turned her head, seeing Arizona, who laughed "sorry I didn't mean to scare you"
"it's ok" she smiled
"you have an amazing voice" Arizona said moving from the doorway
"thanks, not too many people have heard it, and to be honest, if I would have known you were standing there, I wouldn't have been singing"
"oh? Why's that?"
"I don't know, I'm just uncomfortable singing in front of people"
"ah ok" Arizona smiled "Joann was the same way"
"she sang?" Callie asked as she finished preparing the steaks to go on the grill
"yes" Arizona smiled "ironically that song was the one she used to sing to me"
"that is ironic" Callie smiled, she wanted to know more about her, but didn't know how to ask. "she, umm, she was very pretty"
"yes, she was" Arizona smiled moving closer "you want to know more about her?"
"I would love to hear all about her, but only if you're willing to" Callie said nervously
"I would love to tell you" she smiled "but let's get dinner going first"
"ok" Callie nodded, picking up the steaks and heading towards the patio door, nodding for Arizona to follow.

They spent the rest of the evening talking and relaxing. Arizona shared a little more about Joann, and their life together. Relaxing in the hot tub Arizona looked at Callie realizing she had told her all about her past, but there was little she knew about Callie's. "so, what about you?"
"what about me?"
"I want to know about your past"
"what do you want to know?"
"everything, anything, whatever you want to share"
"well" Callie took a deep breath "you know I'm from here, and who my parents are" Arizona nodded, hoping she'd go into more details on her life growing up in LA. "when I was 12 I went to my aunt and uncles in Michigan" she stopped to laugh "my cousin, who is the same age as me, and I were at the lake, there was this boy she thought was cute, I on the other hand wasn't interested in that. She was trying to show off, jumping off a dock or something, she ended up belly flopping, the splash causing the boy to get soaked"
"that's funny, I remember one-time Teddy and I were at the lake and she was showing off, and ended up tripping over some driftwood and smacking her head on a rock"
"oh no" Callie laughed
"ended up in the ER she got 5 stitches in her forehead, she still has the scar" Arizona laughed
"there was this one time my brother and I were at the beach playing catch with a football. Some hot girls, way older than me of course, were checking him out, he was too busy staring at them, and the ball came and hit him right in the nose, no stitches or anything but we ended up heading home because he couldn't get the bleeding to stop" she laughed, then stopped, holding back the tears.
"what is it?" Arizona said reaching out for her
"I haven't talked about him in a very long time" she looked up at Arizona who could see the unshed tears in her eyes. Arizona looked at her confused. "he, um," she cleared her throat "he was a firefighter in New York, we were told he was one of the first to the world trade center after the first plane hit"
"oh no" Arizona felt chills go through her body. She remembered that day, she was running late for class, when she passed by a tv that had the repeated image of the first tower being struck. She didn't have time to stop and find out what was going on until she got to class, and everyone was talking about it. She knew a couple people from high school that had went to New York for college, she had heard later that they were miles away. Shaking the thought away, she moved closer to Callie wrapping her arms around her, as she started to sob "must be a day for mental breakdowns" she whispered kissing the top of Callie's head.
"must be" she sniffled "Marc was my best friend, much like Teddy is yours" Arizona nodded "growing up we did everything together" she laughed "he knew I was gay before I did, we were at the beach, just hanging out, some hot girls had walked by us, he leaned over asking which one I wanted" she laughed "I was about 16 then so he was 18" she said doing the math in her head. "he ran up to them and brought them back. Turns out the one I liked was bi, and well" she shrugged "feels weird talking about this, my mom and dad don't talk about him at all. I think it's too painful"
"I understand" Arizona said, thinking about Joann. Callie looked up in Arizona's eyes, her eyes red from the tears, giving her a half smile "why don't we get out and get cleaned up, there's somewhere I'd like to take you"
"this late?" Arizona looked around it was already dark out.
"it's not that late, remember it's February" Callie laughed, climbing out of the hot tub, turning and reaching for Arizona's hand.
"burr" Arizona said shivering
"sorry, here" she handed her a robe "we might have to run to the house, it can get a bit chilly being in that hot water"
"ok" Arizona said through her clattering teeth
Xxxxxxx
"what's this place?" Arizona asked as they pulled in a parking lot
"a place where Marc and I used to come" Callie smiled "come on" she opened the door and got out. Arizona sighed and followed her lead. Callie reached for her hand, as they walked the path to the beach. Reaching into her pocket, pulling out the flashlight she had brought with. "it's better in the daylight"
"I bet" Arizona said looking around, but she couldn't see anything outside of the beam from the flashlight. The breeze off the water made Arizona thankful she had on her sweatshirt, shoving her hands in her pockets as she started to shiver.
"come on" Callie said reaching for her hand, as they came to some rocks, Callie carefully helped Arizona over them. As they came to a clearing, the moonlight reflecting over the water, was nothing but amazing, almost taking Arizona's breath away. "wow" Arizona gasped stopping in her tracks
"I knew you'd love it"
"I'd love it more if it wasn't the middle of February" Arizona joked
"yeah sorry about that" Callie sighed "but with the talk about Marc today, I felt I needed to come"
"it's ok" Arizona smiled wrapping her arms around Callie. Arizona thought it was weird that Callie was taller than her, Joann was shorter than her, so she always had to bend down to hug or kiss her. "it's been a weird day" Arizona whispered
"but yet one of the best"
"yeah" Arizona felt a smile creep across her face, her heart skipping a beat. Feeling Callie pull away, she heard her say "come on, you're freezing let's get you home"
Xxxxxxxxxx
"good morning" April sang, with a smile once Arizona stepped into the office.
"someone is happy this morning"
"yeah, it was a good weekend" she winked
"well I expect to hear all about it" Arizona smiled nodding to her office
"I'll be in, in a bit, I have some things I need to go over with you" April smiled, watching Arizona head into her office. Sighing Arizona set her bag on her desk, digging out what she'd need for the day. She had a feeling it was going to be a long day. Looking up when she heard April clear her throat, she smiled. As April made her way to the chair she always sat in. Arizona reached for her notebook, looking up, "ok go" she smiled, as April started to ramble about the meetings and such she had for the week. "alright I'll get on that one right away" Arizona said reaching over for a manuscript she had received on Friday. "anything else?"
"nope" April smiled closing the folder she had in her lap looking at Arizona "now on to my weekend"
"this should be good" Arizona smiled giving her, her undivided attention
"I had so much fun Friday, we need to do it again, soon"
"we did too" Arizona smiled, Friday had seemed like forever ago. "and yes, we will"
"Jenn woke up on Saturday with a massive hang over, luckily she didn't throw up, but the day was a complete waste, she didn't start feeling better until like 9" Arizona remembered how she had felt when she woke up that morning. Thinking Jenn had felt worse, she had had more to drink than Arizona. "we ended up staying up all night, playing games, and talking" April smiled "you and Callie seem to be getting along good"
"I'd say so" Arizona smiled, wondering if she should tell her the declaration that was made, and how they were now 'roommates'
"is there something you're not telling me?"
"um" Arizona fidgeted in her chair "well"
"oh this is gonna be good" April smiled leaning on the desk
"well" Arizona smiled "after work we went back to the hotel, and well um" she stopped feeling her face turn red, she wasn't one to talk about her sex life
"what happened" April asked "something fun I hope"
"well um, we finally did it"
"about damn time" she smiled "how was it"
"honestly" Arizona asked, April nodded "like nothing I've ever done before" she smiled "she um" she cleared her throat "we also" she slumped her shoulders "she loves me"
"I could tell that from the moment she walked into the room, the way she looked at you Zo, it was how Jenn looks at me"
"do you two live together?"
"no" April sighed sitting back in the chair "not yet anyway, I keep asking but she keeps saying it's too soon"
"how long have you two been together?"
"um" April paused mentally doing the math in her head "about 6 months maybe more, I'm not entirely sure"
"and she says it's too soon?"
"yeah" April frowned "but I was ready within a month"
"so you don't think, that moving in with someone after only a month of dating is a bad thing?"
"nope not at all, the way I see it is if you know it's right, then who gives a fuck what everyone else thinks. Hell, if that was the case I wouldn't be here, and I wouldn't be with Jenn"
Arizona gave her a quizzical look "what do you mean you wouldn't be here?"
"I met someone online a few years back, when I was still living in Michigan" she paused "I ended up moving out here to be with her, well it turned out she was a psycho bitch, and went crazy on me. Luckily, I already had landed this job, well not this job, I only got this because of you, but I got a job here, and already had an apartment, small as it was" she went on "needless to say, after I finally brought myself to leave her, I almost had a mental breakdown myself, my sister had to come out and save me, trying hard to talk me into moving back home, but I love it here." She smiled "anyway, it was about a year later, I was in the coffee shop down the street one day, and there Jenn was working behind the counter"
"she works there?"
"not anymore" April smiled "now she's working, shit I forgot" she laughed "what kind of girlfriend am I?"
"the one who's been working too hard" Arizona smiled, looking at the clock on the wall "shit, I have that meeting with Izzy in 10 minutes" she quickly packed up what she needed
"wow I took that long telling my story"
"apparently"
"and I'm not done yet" April smiled "I'll finish over lunch?" she looked at her
"sure" Arizona smiled "now I have to go" she said almost running out the door.
Xxxxxx
Arizona was packing her stuff to leave, when April stuck her head in. "you need a ride?"
"I'd love one" she smiled "just give me a few to get this packed up" April nodded and headed back to her desk.
Xxxxxxxx
"the hotel right?" April asked as the doors to the elevator closed
"oh" Arizona laughed "no, I'm not there anymore" how did she forget to tell her she moved in with Callie.
"when did that happen?"
"Saturday" Arizona smiled
"ok, so where am I taking you?"
"um" Arizona cleared her throat "Callie's"
"you're living with Callie?" April exclaimed "how is this the first I'm hearing about it?"
"I forgot?" Arizona shrugged
"you forgot, we spent how long talking today, but yet you forgot to mention you moved in with your girlfriend"
"well I was about to, but I had to meet Izzy"
"oh right" April laughed pushing her "I hope this doesn't sound a corny, but you've become my best friend"
Arizona smiled, "you've become mine too" the elevator doors opened, and they stepped out, nodding to the security guard behind the desk as they walked.
"I'm over this way" April said nodding her head to the right, Arizona turned to follow but was stopped when she saw Callie standing outside her car, dressed in her work suit, name tag still attached. She smiled "I thought you would like a ride home"
"I was going to take her, but she's all yours" April smiled looking Callie up and down, she turned toward Arizona pulling her into a hug. "you're one lucky girl, she's fucking hot"
"I know, I'll see you tomorrow" Arizona smiled pulling away, she turned towards the car, as Callie opened the door she climbed in. Callie turned towards April "thank you for taking care of my girl"
"anytime" April smiled as she walked away.
xxxxxxxxxxxx
"she's funny" Callie said sliding behind the wheel.
"yeah she is, you know she just told me I'm her best friend. That makes me feel sad that she's been here for like 3 years and I'm her best friend, we've only known each other for what? A few months?"
"you're the best kind of best friend, I have to say you're mine"
"you're just saying that because you love me"
"maybe" Callie said leaning over giving her a kiss "how was your day?"
"good but busy, I had a meeting with one of the senior editors today"
"oh how'd that go?" Callie asked pulling out into traffic
"good, I really love the people I work with and for"
"that's good"
"how was your day?" Arizona asked reaching over for her hand "thanks for picking me up, I really need to get my car"
"my day was the same as it usually is. And I wanted to talk to you about that. How's next week sound"
"for?"
"going to get your car?"
"I'll have to see if I can get the time off, I haven't been there that long I don't know if I can"
"ok" Callie smiled
"I'll call Miranda" Arizona said pulling out her phone
"just wait until we get home"
"ok" Arizona smiled looking at her "have I ever told you how beautiful you are?"
"hmmm" Callie smiled "I don't think so"
"well" Arizona smiled "you are" Callie brought her hand up to her mouth kissing the back of it.
So what did you think? In my other version of this I have Callie's brother as Marc, which is how my brother spells his name so I left it. I guess it would work for Mark to be her brother/best-friend? lol. And as far as Joann goes, I couldn't think of anyone else so I used a name often used as Arizona's ex. Let me know what you think and I'll keep going with the changes and posting... Keep in mind if you find a name that is out of place, just replace it in your head with the correct person, sometimes I don't catch it all.
