Subaru woke up in a cave, the last thing he remembered was riding on a dragon carriage with Rem. They were heading to the mansion before they were attacked by a group of strange people wearing all black. They must have taken him here, but why? He had no time to worry about that however because he needed to escape. He tried to move his hands but chains were wrapped around them, he looked around for a way to break free from the chains to no avail. Then he realized that the people who captured him were silently staring at them, and then suddenly someone jumped towards him.
?: Ah yes, I see tell me you wouldn't happen to be pride would you?
The originator of the voice was difficult to see due to how little light was in the cave, the man walked towards him, the man was close enough the Subaru could feel him breathing, he bit his finger before speaking again.
?: Are you not going to answer me? After a moment of silence, the man backed away from Subaru before speaking again. ?: Oh right, forgive me. I sometimes forget to introduce myself when I'm excited. The man bowed and then said
?I am the Sin ArchBishop of the witches' cult representing Sloth, Petelgeuse Romanee-Conti, Yes!
After another moment of silence before he spoke again.
Petelgeuse: Now then, what has brought him here?
As soon as Petelgeuse said that, a masked man wearing all black appeared next to him.
Random witch cultist: Dragon carriage, killed.
Petelgeuse grabbed his head and shook it around violently
Petelgeuse: How truly, truly, truly AWFUL! Your diligence in following my orders has brought a ground dragon diligence itself to the ground! My brain trembles, trembles, trembles! Nonetheless, clean the area and push forward we must carry out the ordeal, if he was with someone have they been eliminated?
Random cultist: Unknown.
Petelgeuse: Unknown!? You failed to kill the person with him, that makes you truly slothful.
He then grabbed the cultist and slammed him into the ground before lifting back up just to punch him before letting him go.
Petelgeuse: YOU FOOL! WITH THE ORDEAL BEFORE US YOU LET A PROBLEM REMAIN! SUCH IS SLOTH! ITS SLOTH, ITS SLOTH, ITS SLOTH! Bring the girl here if you fail to do so then just bring me her bloody head!
After saying this the witch cultist quickly left to fulfill the command.
Now with the cultist gone Petelgeuse turned to face Subaru.
Petelgeuse: Now then, tell me why you are so loved! Do you or do you not own a copy of the GOSPEL
Subaru only looked at Subaru then back at the floor, he then started sobbing moving his head up and down while crying.
Petelgeuse: How comical, how truly comical!
Petelgeuse reacts to Subaru's cry with a laugh before grabbing Subaru and slamming him into a wall, Subaru fell to the ground after Petelgeuse let him go
Petelguese: How does such a lowly person such as yourself get so much LOVE! IT'S SLOTHFUL, SLOTHFUL, SLOTHFUL!
Suddenly a loud thud could be heard coming from behind Petelgeuse, the sound was caused by a cultist being thrown towards the ground.
Rem: I've found your hideout WITCH CULTIST!
Cult members appeared in front of Petelgeuse blocking the blue-haired oni's Path, however, this didn't stop her, and she continued to walk towards Petelgeuse.
Petelgeuse: HOW FANTASTIC! A girl, a lone girl has come to save this boy! How utterly comical!
Rem: You're fools to commit your acts of terror on this domain without Master Roswaal's permission, I SHALL BRING THE DEATH PENALTY UPON YOU!
Petelgeuse: Forgive me if I am wrong but you really just came here to save the boy, that is truly LOVE!
He said while lifting Subaru by the hair and poking his nose.
Rem: DON'T TOUCH HIM!
Two of the witch cultist blocking her path charged at her only to get crushed by Morning star {It's the name of the weapon rem uses}
Another Cultist charged at her only to get impaled by her hand.
Petelgeuse: Why help such a pathetic boy!?
Rem: You know nothing about him! EL HUMA
Two more witch cultists got impaled this time with ice.
Subaru looks up to see Rem killing even more witch cultists, Rem notices him looking at her and smiles at him, Petelgeuse watches as the fight between the cultist and Rem continues to be one-sided.
Petelgeuse: My brain... Trembles
Rem was lifted into the air, and shortly after that her limbs were twisted the sound of bones breaking could be heard before she fell to the ground with a thud.
Petelgeuse: YOU KILLED HER, YOUR LACK OF DOING ANYTHING HAS KILLED HER!
Subaru: I'LL KILL YOU I'LL KILL YOU ILL KILL YOU I'LL KILL YOU ILL KILL YOU I'LL KILL YOU ILL KILL YOU I'LL KILL YOU
Petelgeuse: Oh you answered me I'm honored, nevertheless we must be leaving hopefully a gospel will be given to you once you're free yourself from those chains.
With that said Petelgeuse walked away all the while Subaru was chanting, "ILL KILL YOU, ILL KILL YOU, ILL KILL YOU, ILL KILL YOU!"
After what felt like an eternity of chanting Subaru stopped and started to look down to the ground in tears, before a long rem starting to slowly nudge her way towards him until she was lying on his lap.
Rem: "Live"
After Rem spoke the chain preventing Subaru from moving broke, Subaru took advantage of this and grabbed her.
Subaru: Wait, Rem, don't die please rem no, please!
Subaru's cries fell on deaf ears as Rem's already faint breathing stopped.
Subaru: DAMN YOU PETELGEUSE!
Subaru stayed in the cave for what felt like days, all he did was cry.
Crying over and over, a constant stream of tears came from his eyes as if the only purpose in his life was to produce tears.
when he decided it was finally time to leave this god-forsaken cave a blizzard was raging outside
Subaru: Should I really go outside? I am very under-dress for snow, it's practical suicide to go out there this under-dress.
The truth of the matter was, that he wanted to fulfill Rem's final wish for him to live so he wasn't planning on doing anything that could lead to his death. Not only that he wanted to kill that Madman named Petelgeuse before he even could think about death. So staying in the cave was a choice.
But he can't stay in here forever, he needs to see if there are any survivors, anyone he doesn't care who, and maybe after he can bring them to Felix, he is the greatest healer in Lugnica surely he can heal Rem and any survivors he might find.
Subaru left the cave behind, and he slowly made his way towards the mansion, on his way there he passed the village, the once lively and happy village was full of corpses.
Subaru: Damn you Petelgeuse!
Just as Subaru reached the mansion he heard two voices, when he heard these voices he hid behind some bushes near the mansion, despite being unable to see and decently far away from the people talking he could make out what they were saying.
?: My daughter is asleep. Forever. I don't want to exist in a world without her. Therefore, per our contract, I will freeze this world solid.
The first voice Subaru heard sounded like that of a father after they lost their child.
?: I see, so that is why you're trying to destroy the world? Sorry, but I must stop you from doing further harm, if you must resent someone, please resend me.
The second voice Subaru heard was reassuring hearing it gave him a sense of calm and it eased his nerves a little bit.
?: I can never resent you, Reinhardt, you're a hero and that is all you'll ever be.
Subaru: Reinhardt?! He might be able to help!
Subaru left his hiding place but before he could reach Reinhardt a flash of light engulfed the area, did Reinhardt use his sword technique!?.
Reinhardt: I must hurry to the capital to tell everyone the problem has been fixed.
And with that Reinhardt left before Subaru could get his help, but there is no time to dwell on that he needs to find any survivors to bring them to the capital and have Felix help them, he then realized that the blizzard stop and the snow melted and grass quickly took its place, did Reinhardt stop the blizzard? Did the "Problem" Reinhardt was speaking of be caused by the person he killed? But, the only people he knew that could make snow were Puck or Emilia?! Subaru looked around the front yard of the mansion his eyes widened, there he saw the Pink-haired oni lying on the ground surrounding her we're a dozen or so Witch cultists, they're dead, and their bodies were split in two.
Subaru placed Rem on a bench that was nearby then he rushed towards Ram lifting her off the ground.
Subaru: Ram! Don't tell me they got you too! DAMN YOU PETELGEUSE!
He then place Ram next to Rem, the bench was just big enough to fit the both of them
Subaru: I need to see if there are any survivors, sorry you two I'll give you a proper burial after I do that, hopefully with someone else in hand.
He then rushed into the mansion checking every room for anyone to be alive, "Anyone somebody, PLEASE!" Subaru thought that while searching he so desperately wanted to hear Beatrice's voice or see Emilia's beautiful smile.
After hours of searching he decided to check the Cellar, he perished there in his last loop but if he was going to find Emilia she would have to be in there, when he reached the door the frost that surrounded the door last time was starting to melt away, there were a couple of witch cultist who must have tried to enter but was frozen instead, however-
Subaru: they're still alive!?
Although faint the witch cultists were still breathing and if they were given a couple of hours they could thaw out Subaru quickly kicked each of them they fell and he continued to kick them over and over until they stopped breathing.
Subaru: Why did you CULTIST SURVIVE! How is this world so cruel, why is it that evil people like you get to live, I SWEAR I'LL KILL YOU PETELGEUSE AND NOT JUST YOU I'LL KILL EVERY MEMBER OF THIS CULT, I'LL DO ANYTHING TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE OF YOU DIE!
he said this as tears started to form in his eyes, but he quickly wiped his eyes, he had to see if Emilia was still alive! He slowly approached the door the last time he tried to open it his fingers froze and he quickly died, lucky for him the door was just barely opened enough for him to get in without touching it. There he saw Emilia, he rushed towards her and held her body before looking up towards the ceiling and screaming.
Subaru: DAMN YOU PETELGEUSE! Subaru: Why was I not strong enough to save them!? All I did was watch as Rem was killed, am I an idiot No I am an idiot, no I am just a weak cry baby coward!
As Subaru started screaming he heard the sound of faint breathing, but it wasn't coming from him he looked around and saw him.
