Season One

Chapter One: The Reluctant Hero

Alderworth Hotel, King's Row, London

"Henry… Henry… Henry!"

I snapped my head and attention back to my ever cheerful girlfriend, Lena Oxton, who was sitting across from me playfully pouting. Even pouting, she looked stunning. When I met her at the Alderworth Hotel for dinner and saw her, I was unable to look away. She had short brown hair and brown eyes and wore an orange sleeveless dress.

We met three months ago at the Moriarty's Fine Bookshop where I worked. Lena had entered and browsed around for a few minutes before she started asking me questions a mile a minute. And before I knew it, I was dragged around the bookshop while my omnic boss, Moriarty, watched with amusement. Every few days after that, Lena had come by to talk to me about books, life, and other things. And a few weeks after that, we began dating. After a couple of dates, she took me to her apartment… Where I met her roommate, Emily Jones, and where I learned the definition of sharing…

I had only lived in London for half a year after moving from the States. I wanted to travel and pushed myself to save up and do so. I knew my parents and little sister were worried but really, I knew I needed to leave and find my own way. And working at the bookshop for Moriarty and meeting Lena had been the greatest things to happen to me so far.

Unfortunately, the only downside to my relationship with Lena was her job… I had no idea what that was. I knew she was, or had been, a test pilot for the Royal Air Force but I never learned any details of what exactly she did now. I understood the obvious reason being anything and everything was classified but sometimes I felt Lena, and even Emily, were keeping things from me…

But the true downside was the time apart where she had to return to base far away from London. I still hung out with Emily, while attempting to avoid her invitation for me to stay the night every now and then… even if Lena was okay with it… and continued to live my life. But I did miss her when she was gone. And now, she was back for the time being. But for a short while, which is why she was staying at a hotel and not her and Emily's apartment.

I left my thoughts and realized the floating omnic waiter was waiting for me. Quickly, I gave my order and turned back to where I was looking. Lena followed my line of sight and raised an eyebrow.

"You know, love, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you were looking at another woman. Not that I'm jealous. If you wanted to invite her to our table, you could have asked…" I blushed as I felt her leg rub against my own from under the table. I turned back to her to see her smirking at me.

"It's not like that!" I whispered loudly. "That woman… She's watching us…" Lena's smirked dropped and she turned again to look at the woman watching us from a few tables away in the corner of the hotel's restaurant. Her expression went from curiosity to surprise to shock.

"Oh," Lena said weakly.

"Do you know her?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah… She's a friend from work! Nothing to worry about, love!" Her smirk returned but I saw something else in her eyes. I couldn't figure out what though. But I decided to ease her worry. After all, she invited me here for dinner and spent a lot of time fixing herself up for me.

I knew exactly what to do.

"Hey!" I shouted. "Lena looked at me with wide eyes. Our omnic waiter returned and I nodded to the woman watching us. Her face was filled with bemused amusement. "Could you bring that lovely lady sitting over there alone over. She's a friend of my girlfriend here from work. We don't want her to eat alone."

"Yes, Sir." The emotionless omnic waiter replied.

"Thank you." I smiled.

The omnic waiter floated toward the woman. Her face went from bemused amusement to a bit incredulous. Finally, she stood and followed the omnic waiter to our table. I found an empty chair nearby and held the chair for her with a smile. All while Lena covered her face with her hands. I wasn't sure why but I hope she wasn't mad at me. I smiled sheepishly and took Lena's hand to kiss while the woman smirked.

She had pale pink skin, long dark blue hair in a ponytail, yellow eyes, and purple lipstick and wore a purple sleeveless dress that revealed a generous amount of cleavage. She also had a webbing tattoo with a word in another language on her right forearm. Finally, she spoke, admittedly, in the most sexy french accent I had ever heard…

"Thank you for inviting me over, monsieur. I always wanted to meet the mysterious man my… friend, Lena, wouldn't stop talking about at work… And such a gentleman too…" She said softly. Her eyes flickered to Lena and her smirk grew while Lena turned red from embarrassment.

I still had no idea why.

"Well, you're here now and we can eat together. Any friend of Lena is a friend of mine." I chuckled to save my girlfriend from whatever embarrassment she felt.

"I hope we can be… Mon Amour… But I don't even know your name…" She whispered seductively while resting her head in her left hand with her left elbow on the table. Her face was far too close to mine and Lena looked ready to kill her. Or me. Or both of us. But I felt myself blush while she laughed lightly.

Even her laugh was beautiful.

"O-oh, it's Henry Evans…" I laughed weakly. "And you are?"

That's when she leaned in further until her lips were close to my right ear. I noticed Lena tensed. And I noticed her reach under the table… Finally, the woman whispered seductively again.

"Amelia Lacroix… Widowmaker…"

My heart stopped.

And what happened next happened fast. Lena kicked my chair away with me in it and flipped the table drawing everyone's attention. Quickly, I stood and saw a blue light glow under the chest area of her dress.

And then it clicked.

My girlfriend, Lena Oxton, was Tracer from Overwatch.

And then the woman, who I now knew was the Widowmaker and was crouched down right in front me, extended her leg and kicked me straight in the face. I fell back into another table and the Widowmaker pulled out a white rifle from the back of her dress…

And she fired right at me.

But Lena, or Tracer, blinked towards me and blinked us away. People began to run away from the large room while we hid behind a table.

"Love! I know you're confused, and probably upset, but I can explain! I'm-"

"You're Tracer!" I shouted with panic.

A small device with spider legs landed in front of us and Lena blinked us away again. I looked back to where we were to see light green toxic smoke begin to fill the room. I looked back at Lena who smiled sheepishly at me.

"Cheers, love… the cavalry's here…" She chuckled weakly while I stared at her blankly. More bullets went toward us and we fell to the floor on our stomachs. Lena looked at the closed window in front of us. Then at me with a small smile and my eyes widened.

"Come on!"

"Please don't-!" But it was too late. Lena took my hand and blinked us away again. Out the window and onto the rooftops of London at night.

And my adventures with Overwatch began.

King's Row, London

"You're Tracer!"

"You flirted with the Widowmaker!"

"You're Tracer!"

"You flirted with the Widowmaker!"

On the rooftop of a building at night, I turned back to my angry girlfriend, Lena Oxton, with a bewildered expression. Or better known to the rest of the world as Tracer. An agent of the organization called Overwatch. I don't know how I hadn't put two and two together but looking back, it had been obvious like many other things. Especially the two small white guns she kept under her pillow.

"I was being polite! You know?! Because I thought she was a friend from work like you said!"

"She was the Widowmaker!"

"How was I supposed to know that?!"

"Her hair was blue!"

Okay, she had a good point but I wasn't going to admit defeat. I sighed and looked toward the hotel we left behind. The employees and guests had left and surrounded the front of the hotel and police had arrived. But no sign of the Widowmaker.

"We should go. If you want to go with me, that is…" Lena said softly.

I turned back to see her head lowered slightly and her eyes downcasted. Slowly, I walked to her and hugged her tightly before I kissed her forehead. After a few seconds, we broke apart with our arms holding each other still. I saw her smile return and mine did too. Even if it was small.

"Let's go. Uh… but I have one question… Why didn't you have your guns?" I asked. Lena blinked.

"Because we were on a date! Don't be daft!" Lena giggled while I stared at her blankly. And then she took my hand and blinked us away.

A/N: Rewrote Chapter One. Update every few days. Oh and this story won't be 100% accurate as canon is already a puzzle to me.
