Chapter 18: Why is Derek Here?

"Wake up sleepy head..." Derek whispered, as he rolled over in bed and pressed a light kiss on Meredith's head. It was the third night in a row that he came over after Meredith put Dawsyn to bed.

"Cold..."

"It's very warm..." He breathed, wrapping his arms around her.

"Shut up..." She murmured, as he nuzzled his lips in her neck.

"It's time to get up." He chuckled, nipping at her neck.

"No..." She groaned, turning in his arms.

"Mmmhmm..." Derek murmured.

"I'm sore."

"I think I know why."

"Shh..." She hissed. "Sleep."

"I have to go to work in an hour."

"Hmm..." Meredith hummed, as she drifted back to sleep.

"Get up..." Derek chuckled, running his hand along her thigh.

"No..."

"Mmm..." He murmured, kissing her neck and up to her jaw line.

"You're not playing fair..." She pouted, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"Fair is no fun." He whispered, capturing her lips.

"Hmm..."

"Let's stay here...all day..."

"Okay." She whispered. "Can we go back to sleep?"

"Definitely not sleeping."

"Why not?"

"Because...I like this better." Derek breathed in her ear, his fingers between her thighs.

"Oh..." She lightly moaned, feeling his skin on hers.

"Much better..."

"Better." Meredith nodded.

"What about...this..." He smiled, moving his fingers up higher, teasing her center.

"Oh..." She gasped against his lips.

"Hmm..."

"Derek..." She giggled slightly.

"Yeah?" He smiled, kissing her lightly as he slipped a finger into her.

"Fuck..." She purred against his lips, "Please..."

"What?"

"Just...keep please..."

"Okay." He whispered, kissing her deeply, sliding another finger into her.

"Oh!"

"Mer..."

"Derek..."

"Mmm..." He murmured, sucking on her neck as thrusted his fingers in and out of her.

"Oh...oh..."

"Cum for me..." He whispered, pushing harder.

"I...oh..."

"Mmm..."

"Derek..." Meredith's body trembled at his touch. her body beginning to glisten. "I...please..."

"What?" Derek whispered, his fingers moving faster in and out of her.

"Fuck..."

"Mer..."

"Oh Derek! Oh my...Oh!" She screamed, her body shaking as he forcefully slammed his fingers into her a few last times, sending her trembling.

"Shh..." Derek laughed, kissing her to keep her from screaming.

"Mmm..." She braced into his lips, as she still tried to scream, until he stopped. Her chest rising beneath him, as she wrapped a leg around his waist. "I...Derek."

"Hmm?"

"That was...I can't breathe."

"Good..." He smiled, kissing her again.

"I'm going to be wanting that...all day."

"I can come back tonight."

"You could..." She smiled against his lips.

"Do you want me to?" He laughed.

"No."

"No?"

"Yes." She laughed, moving on top of him.

"Yes...No? I'm confused."

"Come over..."

"Hmm...I'll be here..."

"Mommy! Mom where are you?" A young familiar voice sounded like it was coming from downstairs. "Mom!"

"Crap." Derek muttered.

"Shit." Meredith covered her mouth. "Crap...what time is it?"

"Mom!" Dawsyn's voice came from downstairs again.

"It's...almost eight." Derek groaned, looking at his watch.

"Damn it." Meredith rolled off of him, jumping off the bed. "I...crap. I have to be at work at nine and get her to school and I'm not even..."

"I can't go downstairs...I would but..."

"She's going to see you and ask questions and..."

"I can stay up here until you leave. Hide or something."

"I don't know...what if..." Meredith groaned, putting her bra on before reaching for a pair of panties. "We have to make up something...she'll see the car and ask about it."

"Fixing something...I was here fixing something." Derek said, pulling on his pants.

"Crap." Meredith mumbled, pulling her hair up and looking in the mirror. "I probably look and smell like sex.'

"She doesn't know what sex smells and looks like."

"Yes but the people I work with do."

"Mom!"

"Are you dressed?" Meredith asked quickly.

"Yes...I'm dressed." Derek replied, pulling his shirt over his head.

"Okay...let's go." Meredith quickly walked to her bedroom door. "Coming Daws!"

"I'm hungry!" Daws yelled.

"Okay okay..." She replied, looking back at Derek. "Ready?"

"I guess." Derek sighed.

"Okay..." Meredith turned around quickly, heading for the stairs. "Dawsyn are you all dressed for school?"

"Yes! I'm ready for breakfast!" Dawsyn yelled, her face dropping as she saw Derek coming down the stairs behind Meredith.

"Okay well...what about oatmeal?" She asked, coming into the kitchen, Derek following.

"Why is Derek here?" Dawsyn asked.

"I was um...The faucet" Derek said quickly.

"He was fixing a light bulb." Meredith said, at the same time Derek responded.

"I'm confused." Dawsyn sighed.

"Well that is because he was fixing the faucet and then the lightbulb." Meredith replied, looking at Derek nervously.

"Right." Derek agreed. "Faucet and light bulb."

"But they're not broken."

"Yeah...they broke early this morning." Meredith said quickly. "And I asked Derek to fix them. Early this morning. How about oatmeal?"

"Okay." Dawsyn replied, still looking strangely between the two of them.

"Okay...good." Meredith opened a cabinet, quickly reaching for a bowl as Dawsyn handed her an oatmeal packet.

"Oatmeal is um...Oatmeal is good." Derek smiled.

"Yeah, it is." Dawsyn rolled her eyes, before looking at her Mom and then back to Derek. "Did you sleep at our house?"

"No. No I did not." Derek said quickly.

"Why would he stay the night?" Meredith blushed.

"His hair is a mess." Dawsyn shrugged. "And he looks like he just woke up."

"Because I just woke up when I came over here." Derek replied.

"You take a long time to wake up." Dawsyn replied.

"Yeah. I do."

"Mom...can I buy my lunch today?" Dawsyn asked.

"Well...no Dawsyn." Meredith replied, taking the bowl out of the microwave, walking it to the table.

"Why not?" Dawsyn groaned.

"We packed your lunch last night."

"I should probably go to work." Derek interrupted.

"Derek...please?" Dawsyn turned around in her seat. "Tell my Mom I can buy my lunch. They're making pizza!"

"I...Pizza is good."

"Dawsyn no...your lunch is packed and I don't even have any cash in my purse." Meredith replied, walking over to where Derek was.

"I have cash...I mean...It's only a few dollars right." Derek whispered.

"Only three dollars." Dawsyn replied.

"Derek...no..."

"It's fine." Derek said.

"Derek...she's fine." Meredith replied.

"Mom...he said it was okay." Dawsyn jumped.

"It is...It's really fine." Derek said, turning to Meredith.

"She packed her lunch already." Meredith whispered.

"I don't want that lunch!"

"Here...It's really okay." Derek said, taking out his wallet.

"And can I have fifty cents for a juice?"

"Dawsyn..." Meredith groaned.

"Sure." Derek chuckled.

"I'll pay you back when I go to the bank."

"It's not a big deal."

"I'll pay you back." Meredith repeated, leaving him in front of the refrigerator.

"Enjoy your pizza, Daws." Derek said, standing behind Daws's chair.

"Thanks." Dawsyn giggled. "I keep missing pizza day cause Mommy doesn't ever have cash on her."

"I...I have to run upstairs really quick." Meredith replied.

"Okay." Derek smiled. "We'll be here."

"Were you able to fix the faucet?" Dawsyn asked, as her mother left the room.

"Yes. It's...great." Derek replied, sitting down at the table.

"Oh okay."

"What's this?" Derek asked, flipping through some papers sitting on the table, and realizing they were the field trip forms for the camping trip Dawsyn told him about before.

"It's the permission slip for my old-fashioned camping trip."

"Are you going to go?"

"No." Dawsyn frowned, taking the last bite of her oatmeal.

"Why not?" Derek asked, reading the information on the permission slip.

"My mom doesn't have the money." Dawsyn sighed, taking the bowl over to the sink.

"That stinks." Derek replied, closing the form.

"I think she would have let me if she made more money."

"Maybe I can talk to her about it."

"She won't change her mind."

"You never know, kiddo."

"Won't change my mind about what?" Meredith came back into the room.

"Nothing." Dawsyn replied, washing her hands. "Mom we have to leave."

"I know." Meredith replied, handing the car keys to her daughter. "Go get in...I'll be there in a sec."

"Okay." Dawsyn sighed, grabbing her backpack from the floor. "Bye Derek!"

"Bye Daws." Derek said, watching as she left and heard the front door close.

"I'm sorry...that was rude of her to ask and...I'll pay you back."

"It's really not a big deal."

"Fine...I'm sorry."

"For what?"

"Nothing." She shook her head, smiling weakly.

"You should um...Dawsyn's waiting and I have to work." Derek sighed.

"Yeah me too."

"I'll see you tonight then."

"Yeah." She smiled, reaching for her purse.

"Have a good day." He whispered, walking over to her and taking her hand.

"You too." She replied, pressing her lips against his.

"Mmm..."

"Call you on my lunch break?"

"Looking forward to it."

"You can't send me that text you sent me yesterday." She giggled." Bad...that was dirty and...what if Dawsyn saw my phone?"

"She wouldn't have known what it meant." He laughed, kissing her again.

"Still..." She giggled, kissing him one last time before pulling her lips away. "Okay...I have to go..."

"No..." He groaned, pulling her back to him.

"Yeah..." She smiled.

"Fine." He laughed. "Call me..."

"I will..." She giggled, walking to the door.

"I'll be waiting!" He called, watching her leave. That was close. Extremely close. Luckily, they came up with a passable excuse for Dawsyn as to why Derek was there at their house at eight o'clock in the morning. Now, the thing on his mind was Dawsyn's field trip.

It broke his heart that she wouldn't get to go and experience this trip with her friends. It wasn't fair and Derek was going to make sure she went on the trip. He picked up the permission slip and folded it up, putting it in his pocket. Dawsyn was going to go on that trip, no matter what.
