Morgaine faced her students, while saying, "Since this is my first day, it's going to be harder to tell, if all of my students came to class. When I say your name, you better say you're here. Otherwise, I'll mark you as absent." She spent a few minutes going through the list. As the list was reaching the end, she said, "It appears Riddler didn't come to class."
A moment later, the Riddler burst into the classroom and said, "Riddle me this: Who's the least-early, but smartest classmate of all? The Riddler!" He did a goofy-sounding laugh.
Morgaine faced the Riddler, while looking angry. She folded her arms and said, "Mr. Nygma, you're late for class."
The Riddler grinned and replied, "Riddle me this: Who's so brilliant and eloquent, that he never has to come at the correct time? The prince of puzzlers, the comedian of crime, the jester of games and the Grinch of cheerfulness."
Batman raised an eyebrow and asked, "What are you talking about?"
The Riddler paused and said, "I'm not sure. I have a tendency, to ramble-on, when it comes to giving myself a proper introduction."
Morgaine sternly replied, "Instead of trying to come up with the right introduction, you should be trying to arrive at the right time."
The Riddler had a smug smile on his face. Since Morgaine was brand-new, Riddler was excited about getting to brag about himself, to another person. He tap-danced around the room, while saying, "You don't seem to know who I am and what I have accomplished. You've seen lots of students, who are smart, get good grades, and are respected by teachers. However, I'm so much more than that. I'm the smartest student, that there's ever been. No student is as clever or impressive as the Riddler." He did a silly laugh.
Morgaine grabbed the Riddler and said, "You claim to possess a lot of special abilities, but you're only good at wasting my time. Because of that, you're going to receive a punishment."
The Riddler looked panicked, while replying, "You shouldn't give me a detention. That would waste time, that I could spend on being the smartest and smuggest guy ever."
Morgaine responded, "You're not going to be getting a detention. I have a much more useful punishment." She used one of her hands, to blast Riddler out the window.
Batman ran to the window and asked, "Is the Riddler okay?"
Morgaine coldly said, "Whether or not he is, isn't something worthy of my concern."
Batman was about to run out of the classroom, while saying, "I need to check on him."
Morgaine replied, "Hold on there, Mr. Batman. Are you actually attempting to leave my classroom?"
Batman responded, "Yes, but I have an understandable reason. The Riddler could have been seriously hurt, by your overly harsh punishment. I need to make sure he's okay."
Morgaine replied, "You're not going to be doing that. Sit down and start paying attention to my class."
Batman responded, "I don't think so."
Morgaine grabbed Batman and said, "Then you're going to receive one of my punishments." She blasted Batman out the window.
Batman landed in the garden bushes, next to the Riddler. Batman looked at him and asked, "Are you okay?"
The Riddler had a goofy smile on his face, while saying, "Riddle me this: Who's always the best, even after getting blasted out the window? Did you see how I got punished in style? I'm the smartest of all students, so I earned the most painful of blasts."
Batman raised an eyebrow and asked, "You're glad you got blasted?"
The Riddler answered, "More or less."
After Morgaine le Fey's class was over, Batman went into the hallway and walked to Professor Hugo Strange. Batman sternly said, "We need to talk."
Hugo Strange stubbornly replied, "I don't think that's something we need to do. Besides, you should be getting to the Clock King's class. You know how obsessed he is, with making sure his students arrive on-time. He's a bit obsessive, but I do have a fascination in obsessive people, namely you."
Batman responded, "If you're so obsessed with me, I'm sure you want to talk with me. After all, you did give me a new professor. I'm sure you want to know how she's doing."
Hugo Strange was excited to hear that, so he said, "Very well then, Mr. Batman. Come into my office and we'll discuss the matter."
Batman walked into Hugo Strange's office and looked around the room. There were several pictures of him and several items of bat-related merchandise scattered across the classroom. He even saw some bat-bobbleheads and bat-themed snacks. Batman said, "You seem to have bats on the brain, even more than I do."
Hugo Strange asked, "What can I say? I've dealt with many eccentric people, but none of them have captivated my interest more than you. You are one of a kind and that's why I was intending on finding every secret you have." He looked a bit annoyed, while saying, "In addition to being my most fascinating student, you're also the most secretive. That makes my search, of your past life and personal secrets, extremely hard." A sneaky-looking smile came upon his face, while saying, "However, it also makes things more interesting and exciting for me. One of these days, I'm going to find out who you really are and I think that'll be the most epic moment of my life."
Batman asked, "You think, that finding out a random's students real name, will be the crowning-achievement of your life?"
Hugo said, "Don't sell yourself short, Mr. Batman. You aren't any random student. You coming to Arkham Asylum is destiny, wouldn't you say?"
Batman answered, "Yes, it was destiny."
Hugo had a genuine smile on his face. He felt like he and Batman were on the same page, for the first time. He said, "It seems like you finally understand things. You were destined to come to Arkham Asylum, so I could learn and examine every detail of your life."
Batman shook his head and replied, "You're wrong about that. I was destined to come here, but for a different reason."
Hugo started getting annoyed, while asking, "Oh really? What is that reason?"
Batman answered, "So I could find-out what your master plan is and get you fired."
Hugo pretended to be offended, while saying, "That's an extremely rude sentiment and it is not appreciated. I'm your principal, which makes me your leader. Because of that, you have to obey me and have respect for me."
Batman couldn't believe what a big ego Hugo had. Hugo seemed to think he was the boss of every single student, which was a feeling Batman didn't share. Batman said, "I didn't come here for more of your self-obsessed nonsense. I have something bigger in store."
Hugo proudly replied, "Nobody has bigger plans than Hugo Strange."
Batman punched Hugo's desk and responded, "Skip the ego-trip, you jerk. I need to talk about Morgaine le Fey."
Hugo replied, "Ms. Le Fey seems like quite a good teacher. I specifically hired her, for her extremely-useful resources and because of Professor Crane's recommendation."
Batman noted the fact, that Crane had asked Hugo to hire Morgaine, before saying, "Ms. Le Fey isn't a good teacher and she needs to be fired."
Hugo pretended to be ashamed of Batman, while saying, "I can hardly believe you'd say such a thing. Professor Morgaine le Fey is a brand-new teacher. She just got hired today and instead of giving her a chance to grow and improve herself, you want her to be hired. You've had a lot of moments in the past, where you've acted cold and uncaring, and this is one of the most despicable of them all. I can hardly believe the words, that come out of your mouth."
Batman whispered, "I feel the same way, about the things that you say."
Hugo tried to look like he cared, while saying, "Despite how cruel and judgmental you're being, I'm willing to hear you out. What did Professor Morgain le Fey do, that would get her fired?"
Batman answered, "She blasted the Riddler, who landed outside. She did the same thing to me. Teachers using violence on students is something that's never allowed. This is an extreme punishment, that even the harshest of teachers would disapprove of. If you have any self-respect, you'd do the right thing and have her fired."
Hugo calmly said, "Hold on there, Mr. Batman. Like I've said before, Professor Le Fey is a brand-new teacher and because of that, she deserves to be judged open-mildly." He opened his office door and said, "Come with me and let's go check on her."
Batman replied, "She's probably done plenty of damage, during that time."
Hugo responded, "I doubt that. I'm sure she's doing very responsible and good-natured things."
Batman and Hugo entered Professor Morgaine le Fey's classroom. They looked around and saw that she had blasted several students. Hugo Strange calmly said, "Ms. Ley Fey, what are you up to?"
Morgaine replied, "You should be ashamed of yourself, Principal Strange. These students don't seem to be under any kind of direction, and I assure you, that they have no sense of responsibility. These are some of the most immature and out of control students, that I've ever dealt with."
Hugo responded, "That might be the case, but the students, at Arkham Asylum, are expected to be that way. They're eccentric and can act like troublemakers, but that's what makes them so fascinating."
Morgaine sternly replied, "Well, I have no approval or respect, for a school that behaves in such a manner. These students are hopeless cases and that's probably because you don't know what you're doing." She took a few deep breaths and calmed down. She looked back at Batman and Hugo and said, "Please exit my classroom. You're interrupting my class, which is another thing I frown upon."
Batman looked back at Hugo and asked, "Are you starting to realize, that you hired a violent and crazy person, to be the new professor?"
Hugo put his hand on his chin and replied, "I admit she's more extreme than I was expecting, and she seems like someone, who's going to go against my orders. However, we deserve to give her some time, to sort out her problems and become an excellent professor."
Professor Crane walked up to them. He had a smug smile on his face, while saying, "I already think she's an excellent professor. I saw how much she's been scaring the students and it's something I love. She certainly knows how to give them the fright of the day and she manages to do it without any kind of fear-toxins. If I can find out, what kind of magic she uses, I could combine it with my materials and become scarier than ever." He did an evil laugh.
Hugo grinned and replied, "That sounds like a wonderful idea, Professor Crane. When it comes to benefitting this school, in the most positive of ways, you always deliver. I couldn't be prouder of you."
Batman angrily asked, "Are you kidding me?"
Hugo looked at Crane and said, "I'm afraid Batman's having an attitude problem. Since you're my most-trusted professor, I'm hoping you have an antidote for that."
Professor Crane evilly smiled and replied, "Indeed I do. I think a detention will put an end, to his extreme amount of sourness. Speaking of that, I had to give Poison Ivy the same punishment."
Poison Ivy walked by and angrily responded, "I didn't deserve one. You keep giving detentions, to students who didn't do anything wrong."
Hugo replied, "Sooner or later, you and Batman are going to realize, that you've done plenty of corrupt things. Besides, I think you'll enjoy being in detention, considering how close you two have become."
Poison Ivy blushed and angrily responded, "Don't talk about that!"
Hugo said, "You and Batman should talk about it. After all, young-love is a sentimental, if rather fluffy and meaningless thing." Poison Ivy felt both angry and embarrassed, while Batman facepalmed.
After school was over, Batman went into the hallway and walked up to Poison Ivy. Poison Ivy sighed and asked, "Are you ready to go to detention?"
Batman said, "I don't think so."
Poison Ivy said, "Believe me, I don't want to go to detention. In fact, I can't think of any student, who's get excited over getting a detention. However, as usual, Scarecrow gave us one, so we have no other choice."
Batman replied, "You can go ahead and go to detention."
Poison Ivy could tell that Batman was up to something, but she didn't know what it was. She tapped his shoulder and asked, "What are you planning on doing?"
Batman said, "I need to investigate Professor Morgaine Le Fey. I know she has some tricks up her sleeve. Blasting Riddler and me was bad enough. I fear what else she plans on doing."
Poison Ivy was concerned, so she said, "You shouldn't go there. Like you said, she blasted you and she could do much more to you. I don't want you to go there. You should go to detention, with me. I know it's not the most exciting offer, but I think it's for the best."
Batman replied, "I'm sorry, Rose, but I have to do this. Arkham Asylum is in a lot of danger. Even Hugo Strange probably doesn't have control over Le Fey. This is something that has to be done."
Poison Ivy kissed Batman's cheek and said, "Be careful."
Batman nodded and replied, "I will be."
Batman ran to Professor Morgaine Le Fey's office. He looked around and saw several students, who got blasted to the ground. Batman examined that. They were all alive, but they were seriously hurt. Batman was angry at Morgaine, for being such a cruel teacher. He glared at her and said, "Greetings, Morgaine Le Fey. Are you enjoying your first week at Arkham, which will also be known as your last?"
Morgaine hardly looked intimidated, while asking, "Last week? You have quite the guts, don't you? Well, you got the general idea. This will be the last week, but it's going to be your last week, not my own."
Batman replied, "I'm just planning on having you fired and arrested, when I say this is your last week. I'm assuming you have something crueler in mind, when you call this my last week."
Morgaine clapped. She had a strong dislike for Batman, but she did admire his intelligence. She said, "I didn't come to Arkham Asylum, so I could teach and inspire a bunch of millennials."
Batman replied, "I figured that was the case. So, what are your true intentions?"
Morgaine had a smug smile on her face, while saying, "You're the detective, so I was counting on you, to put the pieces together."
Batman thought about it and was struggling to come up with the answer. A bunch of guesses floated into his head. He thought it wouldn't be very professional to guess, but he was running out of options. He looked back at Morgaine and asked, "Do you hate crazy people? Is that way you're targeting Arkham Asylum?"
Morgaine said, "Not a bad guess, but you couldn't be more wrong."
Batman asked, "Do you want to just show-off your amazing powers and are willing to hurt innocent students, in order to accomplish that?"
Morgaine started using her magical powers to blast Batman, while saying, "Your guesses aren't as bright as they should have been. You are smart, maybe even clever, but a bunch of intelligence isn't enough to stop me. I have powers, which your brain could never compete with." She continued blasting Batman. Batman started running around the classroom, while trying to dodge Morgaine's attacks. However, she started running after him and continued blasting him.
Batman started feeling weak, while saying, "You don't have to do this. There's better things you can do with your powers, than hurt a bunch of students."
Morgaine had an amused look on her face, while asking, "Oh really? What, so-called, better benefits can I get from using my powers?"
Batman said, "You could use your powers, to fight those eviler than you."
Morgaine looked intrigued, while asking, "Are you asking me to fight other villains, in order to obtain more power and prove I'm the strongest fighter of them all? If that's the case, you might even smarter than I thought."
Batman shook his head and said, "No, that's not what I'm suggesting. You have amazing powers, which can be used for making amazingly positive impacts on other people. You could save people, defeat criminals, and become a hero."
Morgaine scoffed at the thought and asked, "A hero? You don't seem to understand me and what I'm about."
Batman replied, "You don't seem to understand yourself and your own goals."
Morgaine continued blasting Batman, while saying, "You don't seem to understand how close you are, to facing my ultimate wrath." She did an evil laugh, while blasting Batman to the ground. Batman laid on the ground, while trying to recover.
Hugo Strange opened Morgaine's classroom door and looked inside. He had come, to complain about the noise. However, he saw that Batman and several students were on the ground, which seemed like a more important matter. Hugo looked at Morgaine and said, "Professor Le Fey, what sort of business are you doing?"
Morgaine retained her confidence, while saying, "I'm showing my students proper punishments."
Hugo replied, "I'm a firm believer in punishing others, especially when the punishments are so fascinating, but you're pushing your limits and doing rather extreme things."
Morgaine responded, "Extreme things have to be done, in order for progress to be made."
Hugo put his hand on his chin, while pacing around Morgaine, and saying, "I must admit, that you aren't what I was expecting you to be. Professor Crane and I heard about you being a sorceress, which compelled me into hiring you. I wanted you to pose a threat to Batman, which you've done. However, you're supposed to be showing Batman who's boss."
Morgaine had an evil smile on her face, while replying, "That's what I'm doing. I'm the boss."
Hugo shook his head and responded, "You're incredibly wrong about that. Nobody is super enough, to defeat Hugo Strange."
Morgaine said, "You're incredibly confident, Principal Strange, but you're also a smug jerk, who doesn't understand how to control this school." She started blasting Hugo. Hugo didn't have as much strength and willpower as Batman, so he fell to the ground and passed out.
Although Batman had been knocked to the ground, he hadn't passed out. He used the time, where Hugo was mouthing-off to Morgaine, to regain his strength and energy. He started getting up.
Morgaine saw that, so she started blasting Batman. She said, "It seems like you don't have what it takes, to discover my true goal. I'm going to make Arkham Asylum my own fortress. After I get rid of Hugo Strange, I'll be the one calling the shots. All of your eccentric and crazy, but powerful and useful students will be used, to help me run this school and make it my command-center. I believe that's what Darkseid would of wanted."
Batman asked, "Who's Darkseid?"
Morgaine said, "I was expecting someone, who posses such knowledge, to know who Darkseid is. However, you're starting to show your true colors. You may be smart, but you're nothing exceptional. You're an average man, nothing super."
Batman confidently replied, "You're wrong about that." Batman put a special chemical in his glove and punched Morgaine in the face.
Morgaine asked, "You think one punch can defeat me? You're no genius. In fact, you might be in-need of further teachings."
Batman replied, "You're the one in need on further teachings, because despite all the power you have, you weren't able to defeat me."
Morgaine had a confused look on her face, while asking, "What are you talking about? I'm about to destroy you."
Batman calmly replied, "No you're not. Before I punched you, I put a special chemical in my glove, which is a power-erasing formula. You're about to pass-out and when you wake up, you'll have no powers."
Morgaine started getting a little nervous, while saying, "There's no way that can be the case. I'm going to demolish you and take over Arkham Asylum. Everything's going to be under my control. I'm going to make Darkseid proud."
Batman replied, "I don't know who this Darkseid guy is, but I'm guessing that he wouldn't be proud of you." Morgaine angrily whined, while passing out.
Batman used a different formula on Hugo Strange and the students, which woke them up. Hugo Strange looked at Batman and asked, "What's going on?"
Batman said, "Morgaine went rouge, so I had to use a formula to stop her. She's lost her powers and is currently sleeping. While waking you guys up, I called the police. They'll pick her up."
Hugo looked fascinated in Batman, while asking, "You used a formula? What type of formula? I want to hear all of the details."
Batman put some formulas back into his utility-belt, while saying, "I'm sorry, but you know I don't share secrets."
Hugo sternly replied, "You better start sharing secrets, or I'll start using extreme measures and dangerous practices in order to find out who you really are."
Batman was ticked-off at Hugo Strange, for hiring Morgaine Le Fey and for constantly getting him and the rest of the school in trouble. He glared at Hugo and said, "Stay out of trouble."
Hugo replied, "I'm sorry, but trouble is the subject that fascinates me the most."
Batman responded, "Curiosity killed the cat and fascination in trouble will get the strange locked-up."
After Batman walked away, Hugo said to himself, "And the strange will unmask the bat."
Batman went into the hallway. Poison Ivy had already finished her detention, but she stayed behind, because she was worried about Batman. She ran up to him and hugged him. She had a concerned look on her face, while asking, "Are you okay?"
Batman calmly answered, "Don't worry. Morgaine went too far, so I had to remove her powers. She's not going to be a threat, anymore."
Poison Ivy was impressed by how many times Batman had saved the school. She said, "You're the most useful and heroic student, that Arkham Asylum has ever had."
Batman replied, "Thank you, Rose."
Poison Ivy asked, "Wanna get out of here and go get some cookies and milk?"
Batman answered, "I should probably stay here and make sure the police take Morgaine away."
Lieutenant James Gordon walked in and said, "I'll get Professor Le Fey." Gordon walked to Morgaine's classroom and put handcuffs on her. Gordon walked up to Batman and said, "I want to thank you. From what I've heard, you've been the school's guardian angel."
Batman replied, "I don't think that Commissioner Loeb and your fellow police officers would share that sentiment."
Gordon sighed and said, "That's probably true. However, I want you to know that you have my support and gratitude." He shook hands at Batman and smiled at him before walking away. Batman sensed good things about Gordon and thought he was someone he could trust.
Batman looked at Ivy and said, "Let's go get that ice cream." Batman and Poison Ivy held hands with each other, while walking out of Arkham Asylum. As Batman walked outside, he had the feeling that justice was on the rise.
