Cainwood City, Pokémon Center
It was late in the evening. Jackson had already placed his Pokémon in the center for their overnight checkup. He had a single bedroom available, and was currently in it, at the desk, with the desk light on. He had pulled out an empty journal, and started to write in it.
'What I am about to write, right now, really happened to me. In fact, it's the night that I came back to what actually happened to me. It might sound crazy, considering I had only been gone for a day since I got sucked up into that whirlpool with Leafeon. However, for a few months in another world… I was a Pokémon.'
Jackson paused as he thought about what to write next. There was a whole lot that happened during that time, and he wanted to fill in all the pages of what took place, and only this journal. Finally, he started to write, 'It all started when Leafeon and I fell into the water. I felt myself sink into the depth below, my body feeling heavy. But then, I felt it completely light, like I was floating like a feather. I heard a voice, but couldn't comprehend what it was saying. But then…'
? ? ?
The bright sunlight suddenly awoke Jackson. His eyes fluttered as he looked up. The sun was bright, the clouds were here and there, and the trees were rustling in the wind…wait, why were there trees? Wasn't he in the sea? And why did he feel somewhat different? Lighter, and more…fluffy?
"Jackson, where are you?!" Jackson heard the sound of Leafeon's voice from a good distance. He slowly rose up to his feet, which felt different as well, like they were thinner.
"Jackson, please answer me!" Leafeon shouted, racing through a bush and in front of Jackson himself. He was surprised to see how high she suddenly became.
"I'm right here, Leafeon." Jackson answered, drawing her attention.
For a moment, she blinked in a sort of blank way. Then, she went wide-eyed as she gasped, "J-Jackson?! Is that you?!"
"Of course it's me." Jackson answered, hurt by the fact his beloved partner didn't recognize him, "But boy, do I feel funny. Why does the world seem so much bigger?"
Leafeon was still in complete shock, finding what she was seeing hard to believe. Finally, she stated, "Jackson, please don't panic, but…" she wandered over to the nearby pond and stated, "Look at yourself here."
"Why? What's there to see?" Jackson asked, walking over to the water, and looking down at his reflection. However, what he saw was not his own face, but that of an orange bird, with a yellow beak and three yellow-tipped feathers. He tilted his head from side to side, making sure he was seeing what he thought he was seeing. Finally, when he came to the conclusion that this really was his reflection, he went into a panic.
"WHAAAAAT?! he exclaimed, leaping high into the air, "WHY AM I A BIRD?! WHAT'S GOING ON?!"
"Technically, you're a Torchic." Leafeon corrected him, still in amazement, "But seriously, what happened to you, Jackson? How in the world did you end up a Pokémon?!"
"That's what I wanna know!" Jackson retorted, looking down at his stubby wings and his chicken legs, "Man, this sucks! How in the heck did I end up like this?! I'm a freakin' Pokémon!"
Just then, there was a rustling of leaves, and both Jackson and Leafeon turned to see something was hiding in the shrubbery nearby. They couldn't tell who or what it was, but could make out a blue bald head. For a second, they didn't move, until Leafeon sighed and asked, "Whoever's there, come on out! We know you are there!"
There was a yelp, then a pause, and finally, the character came out. It was a blue-bodied turtle with an orange-ish brown and sandy-colored belly shell, the same size as Jackson was currently.
"A Squirtle?" Leafeon asked.
"Um, hi." The Squirtle greeted, "Sorry if I looked like I was hiding, but I couldn't help but hear the cries from over here, and came to investigate."
"Makes sense." Jackson answered.
"Oh, right! Maybe I should introduce myself!" The Water-type realized, "I'm Squirtle. And who are you two? I've never seen you before."
Leafeon and Jackson paused, looking at one another, before the former answered, "Well, I'm Leafeon. And this is my trainer, Jackson."
"What? Trainer?" Squirtle answered, looking between the pair, before addressing Leafeon, "Um… that makes no sense. You clearly are the stronger one of the pair, so how can HE be your trainer?"
"Hey, rude much?!" Jackson argued.
"S-Sorry!" Squirtle apologized frantically, "But… It just seems weird."
"Currently, yes." Leafeon agreed, "But there is a good reason behind this. You see, Jackson here use to be a human."
Squirtle looked puzzled at this, before asking, "A human? But he looks like a normal Torchic to me."
"I know. But it's the truth." Jackson replied, "I was crossing the sea with Leafeon to a city to get medical supplies for a sick Pokémon, when suddenly, we were caught in a storm and got sucked into a whirlpool. Then it was wham, bam, Torchic I am."
Squirtle looked very confused as he asked, "Um… that's a very weird story. And you said your name is Jackson, right? That's also a weird name."
"Hey! It's normal for me!" Jackson argued.
Squirtle looked very panic-stricken as he stammered, "S-S-Sorry!"
Leafeon turned to Jackson, saying, "He seems the nervous type, so be easy with him."
"Sorry, but I am having a hard time dealing with the fact that I have stubby wings for hands, instead of my usual limbs!"
Leafeon chuckled nervously. It was rather weird for her to see her master in such a state of being, and knew he was just very confused at this point. So his frustration was just.
"Help! Someone help me!" shouted a cry in the forest. The trio suddenly looked towards the direction.
"Huh? I hear shouts from over there…" Squirtle noted.
Suddenly, from above the trees, a Butterfree appeared, flying down to their location as she cried out, "You! Can you please help me?!"
"What seems to be the problem?" Leafeon asked.
"It's horrible! My Caterpie fell into a cavern!" She cried, "My poor baby!"
"What?!" The trio asked in shock.
"A huge fissure opened in the ground, and my Caterpie fell in!" she explained, with tears in her eyes, "He's too young to crawl out by himself! When I went to get my baby, Pokémon suddenly attacked me!"
"Huh? You were attacked?" Squirtle attacked, "By another Pokémon?"
"Didn't you explain why? You were going there?" Leafeon asked.
"I tried. But they must've be enraged by the fissure and are out of control! That's what I think. I'm not strong enough fend off those wild Pokémon… What will become of my baby?" She started to flap around, wondering what to do.
Squirtle looked nervous, but Leafeon turned to Jackson, who thought for a second, before nodding and understanding what needed to be done. "We can't just stand here and do nothing!" Jackson told Leafeon, before racing off to the area Butterfree came from.
"Wait, what?!" Squirtle exclaimed.
"There he goes again." Leafeon sighed, "Come on, Squirtle. You should follow us!" With that, she pursued her transformed trainer.
"But you don't even know where you're…!" Squirtle exclaimed, but they vanished. He paused for a second, looking at the panicking Butterfree, before crying out, "Wait for me!", and pursued them.
Leafeon pursued Jackson and asked, "Hey! Do you even know how to fight like a Pokémon?!"
"No, not really." Jackson replied, running as fast as his little feet could dash, "But I have you here, so maybe you can help out!"
"Jackson, not only am I a different type than you, since you are now a Fire-type, but you are a completely different species of Pokémon." Leafeon noted, "I'm not sure how I can help."
"Well… then I'll just have to wing it!" Jackson argued.
Leafeon looked to Jackson's stubby wings, and asked, "Was that suppose to be a…"
"That was NOT intentionally a pun!" He interrupted her.
The pair finally noticed the said fissure in the ground from a distance, and they approached it together, looking down into the lower floor below. It was still grassy and rocky as it was above. "This must be the route down." Jackson noted.
Squirtle arrived on the scene as Jackson leapt into the fissure, with Leafeon jumping behind. "Wait, wait, wait!" Squirtle shouted, looking into the fissure, seeing them at the floor below, "You don't know where you are going!"
"Then come with us!" Leafeon told Squirtle, "We could use someone else to join in."
"Yeah. If you are a local around here, then you can help us out." Jackson told him.
Squirtle hesitated, but found the nerve, and leapt into the fissure after the pair, landing on the ground below.
The trio looked around as Squirtle noted, "I've heard about these kinds of places. This is a mystery dungeon."
"Mystery dungeon?" Jackson and Leafeon echoed.
"Yeah, they are those mysterious locations all around the world." Squirtle explained, "They constantly change every time someone enters into one. You could easily get lost in one, even if you went into it a hundred times!"
"So it's a constantly changing adventure?" Jackson asked, "That's actually exciting."
"Jackson, remember that we came here to save a Caterpie." Leafeon argued.
"Right. I know." Jackson replied.
"Ah!" Squirtle shouted, pointing ahead. They turned and saw several seed-looking Pokémon approach their position. Jackson recognized them as Sunkern.
"They're probably some of the Pokémon that live here." Leafeon assumed.
The Sunkern suddenly looked enraged, and leapt at the group, attacking them. The team dove out of the way, evading their attacks. "It's just like Butterfree said; they're attacking without reason!" Jackson noted, closest to Squirtle.
One Sunkern leapt at Leafeon, who whacked it away with her tail, noting, "They are weak, so I can easily deal with them without using moves."
Two of the Sunkern went to Jackson and Squirtle, the former unsure of what to do in this situation. He was still not figuring out how to fight like a Pokémon. "I've got this!" Squirtle shouted, before crying out, "Water Gun!", and he shot a gush of water from his mouth, hitting the Sunkern, but not doing much damage. "Oh, no! My Water-type moves have no affect on them!" He exclaimed.
'Come on, Jackson. Find the strength within, and use it!' Jackson told himself, digging deep into his gut, finding the literal fire within, and bringing it to his beak. He inhaled deeply, before shouting, "Ember!", and blasting small fireballs out of his mouth at the Sunkern, burning them and causing them to be knocked out.
"You did it, Jackson!" Leafeon cheered, already dealing with the remaining Sunkern. The group of enemies looked up, saw they were outgunned, and fled in terror.
"You managed to send them running!" Squirtle cheered.
"Thanks. I honestly was nervous." Jackson admitted, "I didn't think I could find the ability to use that move. But it seems I did it."
"You…really didn't think you could use that move?" Squirtle asked, "But it is so basic."
"I told you; I am a human!" Jackson argued, "I don't know how to fight like a Pokémon. I was just lucky I could do that."
"Hmm… That is still hard to believe." Squirtle noted.
"Guys, let's discuss this as we get further into the dungeon." Leafeon told the pair, who nodded in agreement, and joined together as they went further in.
As they ventured through the dungeon, Leafeon and Squirtle's best instructions Jackson was able to somehow dive deep into his natural Pokémon instincts, and understand his capabilities. He did so, and was able to discover the moves he was capable of using, not just Ember, but Quick Attack, Peck, and Low Kick. Meanwhile, Squirtle was able to utilize the moves Water Gun, Tackle, Bite, and Brick Break. Jackson was very disappointed he couldn't use any attacks involving his arms, but he relied on his footwork and beak to dole out some damage to the opponents.
"Glad this is only a weaker dungeon, or else I would having it tougher here." Jackson argued, seeing a Pidgey fly in, only to get retaliated with a Quick Attack, speeding in and knocking it back. The Pidgey responded with a Tackle, knocking Jackson away, but was saved by Squirtle's Water Gun that shot down the Pidgey, knocking it out.
"I'm rather impressed, Jackson." Leafeon noted, whacking a Wurmple with her tail into another Sunkern, knocking the both of them out, "You are adapting into your new body quite well."
"I'm not a fan of having no arms to work with, but I'll work with what I got!" Jackson argued, "Now let's keep moving. We gotta find that Caterpie. Keep up with us, Squirtle!"
"Okay!" He answered, running behind the pair as they continued into the dungeon.
After a few minutes, the pair finally made it to the bottom, and found the small little Caterpie, crying as it was calling out for her mother.
"Mommy, where are you?!" She cried.
"Don't worry, little one." Jackson assured guy, "We came to rescue you."
"Yeah. Your mom's waiting." Squirtle assured her, "Let's get you out."
"Okay." Caterpie replied.
"Hop onto my back. I'll get you to safety." Leafeon assured the child. Caterpie crawled on top of her, and they raced out back the way they came.
Moment's later, they found themselves back where they started, with Butterfree finally reunited with Caterpie. Jackson, Leafeon, and Squirtle were pleased at the sight of the family united.
"My baby's safe…" the mother Butterfree stated, "I'm sorry. I don't know how I could ever thank you properly.
"We were happy to help." Jackson assured her.
"It has been dangerous lately, with sudden quakes and fissures like that one." Squirtle noted, "It was great to find your little boy unharmed."
"Please, may I have your names at least?" Butterfree asked.
"I'm Squirtle."
"I'm Leafeon. It's a pleasure."
The two looked to Jackson, who answered, "I am Jackson. Jackson… the Torchic."
Squirtle looked confused, while Leafeon looked amused. He was basically trying to introduce himself like his friend, Sonic the Hedgehog. It worked well, as Caterpie's eyes glittered as he said, "Cool…" Squirtle and Leafeon sweat-dropped at his admiration, while Jackson looked pretty happy at this.
'Seems like he likes me.' Jackson told himself, 'Despite the weird situation I am in, right now, it is nice that I could make his day. And I even became a hero again. This might be a good experience for me to regain my footing as what I was once before.'
"Thank you, Jackson, Squirtle, and Leafeon!" Caterpie thanked them.
"I know it isn't really enough, but this is a token of our thanks." Butterfree told the team, approaching them and handing something over, "Please accept it." She gave Jackson a seed, a berry, and some coins that Jackson was able to grab with one of his wings.
"That's a tiny reviver seed, a Pecha Berry, and 500 Pokécoins." Squirtle noticed, "Wow, thank you!"
"Thank you so much." Butterfree told them, "Good-bye." With that, she and Caterpie took off back home.
Squirtle looked happily at his pair of companions, saying, "Thank you for helping! You're very tough. I was sure impressed."
"Thank Jackson." Leafeon replied, turning to him, "He was the one who wanted to help first."
"It's as I told Jasmine and Kris; I would feel guilty if I left it alone if I was already able to do something." Jackson told her, "If you have the capability to help someone, shouldn't you act on it?"
Squirtle seemed amazed at these words, and great words to live by. He then paused before he asked, "So… what are you going to do? Do you two have any plans?"
Jackson and Leafeon looked to one another, before shaking their heads. They had no answer to this. "Honestly, I want to know how we get here." Leafeon noted.
"And, more importantly, I would like to know how to return home." Jackson asked, "Hopefully I can be a human again, as well."
"Well…" Squirtle spoke up, getting their attention, "If you don't have a place to stay, you should come with me." He waved the pair to follow him. They paused, looking to each other, but saw no other option available, and followed him.
Moment's later, they arrived on a dirt path, and walked along it until they reached a crossroad, where they found an amazing place. It was an orange brick, dome-shaped home, muddy dirt around the place, torches on the walls and on the sides of the hut, stone steps leading to it, a flag right on the side, and a mailbox at the entrance.
"Wow!" Jackson and Leafeon gasped.
"Is this place really for us?" Jackson asked, looking to Squirtle.
"Yep." He replied simply.
"I can tell this fits you really well, Jackson." Leafeon noted, "I mean, it looks like it suits a Fire-type like you."
Jackson felt amazed at this. Was this his Pokémon instincts saying how happy he was? The feathers on his head wiggled at his excitement. It was like a home away from home to him. He couldn't help but love it.
Squirtle turned to Leafeon and Jackson, seeing the latter's expression of happiness, and asked, "Oh, Jackson. You're impressed, aren't you?"
"Hilt yeah!" Jackson answered, looking at him, "You sure it's okay? Do you own this place?"
"Of course. I was given this place very recently." Squirtle answered, "But I had no use for it. Still, I though this would make a good place for you to live, Jackson, Leafeon. I was sure you would like it."
Jackson turned to Leafeon, asking, "So, Leafeon, are you okay with this place as our temporary base of operation?"
"It will do, for now." Leafeon answered.
Squirtle pointed out the mailbox, letting them know it was here in case they got letters. "Many Pokémon are suffering from these natural disasters." He explained, "Just like the fissure Caterpie fell into. There have been all sorts of natural disasters recently."
"Natural disasters?" Leafeon echoed, looking to Jackson, who looked back, concerned about that, as well.
"I want to do good." Squirtle told the pair, "I want to help Pokémon like that. I want to help make the world a safer place for Pokémon. So, um…" He paused, before stepping towards the pair, saying, "Well, I saw how good you were when we rescued Caterpie. Would you like to form a rescue team with me? I think we could be the world's #1 rescue team, Jackson, Leafeon."
"Rescue team?" Jackson and Leafeon echoed, looking to each other. Based on what they guessed, they assumed a rescue team was a group who accomplish rescuing tasks in this world.
"Well, Jackson, it is up to you." Leafeon told Jackson.
"Hmm…" Jackson thought to himself, before answering, "Well, I don't know if there is anything else we can do. Plus, this will be fun if we became heroes in this world, understanding the life of a Pokémon. But at the same time, I need to find a way for the two of us to return home. So… I'd say we should do it! Let's form a rescue team."
"Okay. Done deal!" Squirtle cheered excitedly, "From now on, Jackson, we're partners in our rescue team! I'm so glad! The team's name is… I haven't decided on one. Listen, Jackson. You seem to be the leader, so what would be a good name for us?"
Jackson looked rather surprised at this. Oh, sure. No pressure. Just creating a team name for all of them! He thought for a second, thinking back to all the team names of his colleagues back in his home world. After a while, he came to a choice.
"Team Blade." Jackson replied, "No matter what task is brought before us, we'll cut our way through it like a sword."
"Blade, huh?" Leafeon noted, "Like my Leaf Blade?"
"Yep." Jackson replied.
"Blade!" Squirtle echoed, looking intrigued by the idea, "I like it! It's a good name! It's perfect! Oh, and one more thing! I wanted to wear this on the day I got started on a rescue team. I got two extras, so let's put them on!" He handed Jackson a green scarf, while Leafeon got a blue scarf, leaving a red scarf for Squirtle. Each of them had them tied around their necks.
"Looks great! You wear it well, Jackson, Leafeon!" Squirtle cheered. "Don't you feel focused? Like we're on the same team together? Rescue Team Blade! Let's do good, starting tomorrow!" The trio showed their signs of victory in response to this declaration, signaling the start of their team.
(Jackson writing) 'And that is how Squirtle convinced Leafeon and I into being a rescue team.'
'That night, once I learned how to sleep as a Torchic, Leafeon and I questioned why I got turned into a Pokémon in the first place. It didn't seem like those typical stories about being Isekaied and reincarnated. That would require a white truck or a random shanking… at least, according to what I have read in stories. The only things I could think of were that the specific whirlpool was a gateway to another world, or that there is something else going on in here.'
'We ended up joining with Squirtle as we started our first rescue team mission; saving Magnemite in the Thunderwave Cave, and we managed to get it done in flying colors. After that, I was starting to get these weird dreams, though I couldn't figure them out at the time. We were introduced to Pokémon Square, a small town that had all the necessary things around, from shops to banks to storage facilities, and more.'
'I was incredibly impressed at how things were in this town. The Pokémon, the businesses, and everything in between… They weren't that different from normal human beings in regards to how they lived, how they acted, all that. I really believe that I should treat my Pokémon the exact same way. Not that I don't disrespect who they are, but that I should treat them like they can accomplish jobs on their own.'
After a couple days, we finally had a big task on our hands; saving a Diglett from a nasty Skarmory in a place called Mt. Steel. We decided to go and take care of the request, and made our way to the top.'
Mt. Steel
Jackson, Leafeon, and Squirtle had several floors to go through, with a lot of enemies to deal with, but they were able to reach the top, where they saw Diglett on a lone platform far away from the heroes. "Hang on! We'll be right over!" Squirtle shouted.
"I'm… I'm scared." Diglett whimpered.
Just then, something flew up from the ravine between the heroes and Diglett, flying upwards before landing on the ground in front of the trio, screeching at them. The steely bird known as Skarmory.
"You! What do you think you're doing here?!" Skarmory demanded at the trio.
"We're here to rescue Diglett!" Squirtle answered.
"We're not here to cause any problems to you." Leafeon told him, "Just let us rescue our friend, and we'll be on our way."
"How dare you! It's their fault!" Skarmory accused, "I haven't slept in days because the earthquakes frighten me so! Every night we had them! Those earthquakes are caused by this brat's ilk running wild underground!"
"That can't be possible." Jackson argued.
"Well, it's true there have been many earthquakes lately, but…" Squirtle started, "…it would take more than Diglett's family running wild below to cause earthquakes."
"You be quiet!" Skarmory snapped at Squirtle, causing him to look scared, "We'll fight if you keep that up!"
"Skarmory is not listening to reason." Leafeon argued, "We'll have to fight him to make him see reason!"
"Right. Leafeon, be careful." Jackson noted, "This guy is a Flying/Steel-type, if word is right. None of your attacks will do much to him."
"Right. I'll be on the defensive, and you guys go offensive!" Leafeon told them, and she dashed in, using her Leaf Blade to draw his attention. Skarmory took the hit, which didn't do much, but took the bait, and pursued Leafeon.
"So, this is what you chosen?! Very well!" Skarmory, "Air Cutter!" He sent a storm of wind blades at Leafeon, who dodged about them as she ran, before getting hit by one.
"Water Gun!" Squirtle shouted, shooting a stream of water from his mouth.
"Ember!" Jackson roared, unleashing fireballs alongside Squirtle's attack. The two made contact with Skarmory, Jackson's attack being much stronger than Squirtle's due to super-effective damage.
"How dare you!" The bird roared, flying at them with talons glowing metallic, "If that's how you're gonna play, then here! Metal Claw!" Jackson leapt away from the attack, while Squirtle panicked and used Withdraw to hide in his shell, taking the attack, causing the shell to bounce away.
"Not done yet! Peck!" Skarmory began pecking profusely on Squirtle's shell, trying to break him out of it.
"Stop it!" Jackson shouted, "Quick Attack!" He unleashed lightning speeds on Skarmory, getting his attention.
"You wanna go? Let's go!" Skarmory shouted, unleashing a Leer at Jackson, who took it as his defenses were weakened.
"Jackson, heads up!" Leafeon shouted, leaping in and unleashing a Solarbeam on Skarmory, who took it hard, and was knocked backwards.
"His physical defenses are strong, but his defense against Special Attacks are weak." Leafeon noted.
Skarmory recovered, flew into the sky, and unleashed more Air Cutters down at the group. Squirtle pulled himself out of his shell as he, Jackson and Leafeon darted out of the way. Skarmory flew at Jackson, readying more Metal Claws to slash Jackson while his defenses were weakened. Jackson ran with Quick Attack, and evaded the attack coming at him, causing Skarmory to slam his claws on the ground. This ended up causing Skarmory to get his claws caught in the ground, making him stuck.
"Skarmory's vulnerable! Everyone, together!" Jackson shouted, unleashing Ember. Squirtle unleashed Water Gun, while Leafeon charged up and fired off another Solarbeam. The three attacks came together, and not only jogged Skarmory loose from his stuck state, but also sent him flying in pain.
"Grr… I can't keep up!" Skarmory grimaced, flapping in the air, seeing the group's strength, "I'll flee for now!" With that, he took off into the air, vanishing from sight.
"Well done, team!" Jackson cheered.
"Skarmory was difficult, but nothing we couldn't handle." Leafeon replied.
"I'm glad it worked out!" Squirtle finished, racing over to the edge to see Diglett still stuck, "Hey there! We chased Skarmory off! It's okay now. Come down over here."
Diglett was very petrified as he replied, "I can't… I'm too scared to move."
"Okay, no problem." Squirtle assured him, "We'll come to you. Just wait."
"Um, about that…" Leafeon intervened, looking over the cliff side, "I already checked, and we have no way to get across ourselves. It's too wide for us to get across, and too deep, as well." Squirtle and Jackson looked over the cliff, and she was right. They couldn't even see the ground below.
Just then, they heard the sound of electricity, and looked up to see a pair of Magnemite floating in from above, coming down towards them. "Hey! You're those Magnemite we saved recently!"
"We got word of this. We can rescue Diglett from the sky. BZBZBZZ!" One of the Magnemite sparked.
"Hold on to us tight. BZBZBZZ!" The other Magnemite told Diglett, and they went to the rescue of the little guy.
"Don't be scared. We won't make the mistake of zapping you. BZBZBZZ!" The first Magnemite stated.
"Considering Diglett is a Ground-type, that won't be a problem." Leafeon argued.
(Jackson writing) 'Thanks to the Magnemite, we managed to save Diglett. Not only that, but we even managed to gain one of the Magnemite as an ally… well, not initially. But first, I need to at least note that night, I had another dream. I was getting a better vision of the Pokémon that was trying to speak to me in my dream during that time, but her voice was still difficult to hear. Apparently, I was even speaking in my sleep, as Leafeon even questioned what was going on with me. However, I had no answer… not yet.'
'When I spoke to Squirtle about it, he did ask whether I wanted to become human again. Honestly, I did. I explained what I was doing before I became a Pokémon, and he was rather amazed at what I was doing. Between fighting Gym Battles, spending time with my Pokémon team, better improving myself in so many ways, and of course the whole getting meds for Ampharos, I know I had a lot to look forward to. But first, I need to know why I came here in the first place.'
'Squirtle introduced us to the Camp Corner, owned by a Wigglytuff. Thanks to her, we were able to gain camps for team members we recruit. That included the Magnemite we got to recruit. Now we had the quartet of Fire, Water, Grass, and Electric. The four of us were gonna make some big waves in this new world.'
'However, we ended up seeing the competition as to even greater and stronger rescue teams, such as a Shiftry and his team of Nuzleaf, who only cared about getting paid greatly for his work. Then there was the greatest team known, team A.C.T, composed of Alakazam, Charizard, and Tyranitar. They were the ones we had to reach the level of; Gold. Alakazam also seemed to notice something was different about me compared to other Pokémon.'
'However, not all teams had good hearts. There was one group known as Team Meanies, who only use the rescue team as a facade in order for their true goal; world domination. They were rather frontward with their goal towards us. Probably because they underestimated our strength. But the big challenge came when we were tasked by the Caterpie we saved before to save his friend, Metapod, in a large forest…'
Sinister Woods
Jackson, Leafeon, Squirtle, and Magnemite had just reached an open area within the woods, looking about the place. "Wow, we've come really far within the forest." Squirtle noted, "I wonder if Metapod is around here?"
Leafeon paused and sensed her surroundings. Since she was adapted with the nature of the woods, she was able to sense her surroundings a lot better than others. "I believe I have found him." She told the group, "He is right-."
"Hold it, you!" Shouted a sneering voice. The four spun around and saw three characters that raced around the team, before coming to a halt in the path in front of them. It was the members of Team Meanie, Ekans, Medicham, and their leader, Gengar.
"Keke! You know who's going to get to Metapod first? We are!" Gengar told the group, "So, for you to go ahead… Well, we can't let that happen."
Squirtle looked shocked as Jackson sighed and glared at him. He was reminded of a smart idiot back in his home world who would say similar things. "Listen, Gengar. We took this job by Caterpie, fair and square. You are just being a pain, right now, with how you butt into business!"
"Oh, yeah?" Gengar asked, staring down Jackson with a glare. The human Torchic didn't bother looking away, and glared straight back.
"Didn't we tell you? Our aim is world domination~." Medicham sung.
"We'll take whatever reward we can get from Caterpie." Ekans hissed, "And Caterpie will join us, too… That brings us closer to our goal."
"Caterpie would be a horrible addition to the image of your team." Leafeon noted, "He'd be better off with us, anyway, but he is too young."
"We can straighten him out so that he would be a PERFECT fit." Gengar told them, as the trio backed off and readied themselves, "Keke! And for that, you lot are in the way! So sorry to say, but your party's over right here and now! Say good-bye, kiddies!"
"Not if we have any say in the matter!" Jackson shouted, and the four Pokémon leapt in, facing the trio.
"I'll poison you with Poison Sting!" Ekans shouted, shooting needles from his mouth at the group.
"BZBZBZZ! Not on my watch!" Magnemite answered, coming in and blocking the attack with its Steel-type body. "Now my turn! Magnet Bomb!" It created multiple light blue orbs from its magnets, firing them at Ekans, who panicked as he took all the attacks in pain.
"Zen Headbutt!" Medicham shouted, coming in with a glowing head towards Leafeon, who leapt up to evade the attack.
"Too slow! Quick Attack!" Leafeon shouted, diving back down at high speeds, hitting Medicham before she could react, causing a dust explosion.
"Keke! Try my Shadow Punch!" Gengar shouted, coating his fist in ghostly energy, and swinging it at Squirtle, who took it and was sent flying.
"Aerial Ace!" Jackson called out, dashing in, encased in a stream of energy, striking Gengar a couple times with it.
"You're really annoying! Hypnosis!" Gengar called out, unleashing hypnotic waves that stopped Jackson, causing him to falter and almost fall over.
"Em…ber…" Jackson moaned, and as his beak touched the ground, he exuded flames out, hitting himself in the face with them. However, that didn't work as well as he had hoped, and he was asleep.
"Oh, no! Jackson!" Squirtle cried out, as Gengar cackled, before unleashing one Shadow Punch after another on Jackson. "Leave him alone! Water Gun!" Squirtle fired off a jet of water from his mouth, hitting Gengar, and causing him to back off.
He growled as he turned to face Squirtle. "You wanna go? Let's go! Night Shade!" He shot dark energy from his eyes, causing Squirtle to flee from terror as he drew his attention from Jackson.
"Think, think!" Leafeon grimaced, seeing Jackson's situation, while evading a Confusion attack from Medicham, "I know Jackson created ways around sleep. He tried waking himself with an attack, but fire is not the same as ice. The other option was…" She pondered for a second, before coming up with an idea. She whacked Medicham with her tail stopping her for a moment as she shouted, "Jackson! There's a beautiful girl about to cuddle you! She has a horrible attitude!"
It sounded ridiculous when she phrased it like that, but what else could she say that could hit Jackson's panic button? Fortunately, it did the trick, as Jackson suddenly opened his eyes, and leapt in fear, shouting, "AH! GET AWAY! GET AWAY!" He stopped, looking about, realizing he was still the Torchic in the same situation. He spun to Leafeon as he angrily shouted, "Of all the things you try to wake me up with, THAT'S your choice?!"
"I know your respect for women, so I only assumed…" Leafeon sheepishly admitted.
"Say something like 'I spy an amazing weapon someone has' or something! Don't point out THAT part of me!" Jackson shouted, before seeing Squirtle struggling. He was unable to use Water Gun, due to Gengar's ability momentarily preventing him from using it. "Whatever. Thanks, Leafeon. Finish things off quickly!" Jackson took off and unleashed an Ember to burn Gengar, forcing him from Squirtle.
"I am really confused." Ekans muttered, wondering how Leafeon woke Jackson up, while using Wrap on Magnemite.
"I… will question later. BZBZBZZ!" Magnemite answered, "But you get off! Signal Beam!" He shot a beam from his eyes, shooting Ekans off of him.
"Leaf Blade!" Leafeon shouted, slamming Medicham hard with her glowing tail, and sending her rocketing into a tree, where she collapsed under.
"Thundershock!" Magnemite called out, unleashing an electrical blast at Ekans, shocking him hard and sending him flying right into Medicham.
"Those stupid idiots!" Gengar scoffed, looking at his two fallen partners, "How can they be beaten by such rookie-level Pokémon?!"
"Don't insult your own teammates!" Jackson roared, leaping up, "Ember!" he unleashed a blast of ember from his beak, showering down on Gengar and causing him to flinch. "Go, Squirtle!" He called out.
The Tiny Turtle Pokémon used this opportunity to his advantage, and leapt forward shouting, "Bite!" He chomped on Gengar's body, making him cry out in pain due to the type-weakness. Squirtle used Gengar's light weight to toss him to the tree, where he fell onto his comrades.
They slowly rose up, injured as they saw the four members of Team Blade gather together, glaring daggers at the trio.
"You'll…you'll pay for this!" Gengar barked, "Mark my words! You will not get away with this!" And with that, the trio ran off, leaving the four heroes satisfied with their victory.
"What pests." Jackson scoffed.
"Targets have fled the scene. BZBZBZZ!" Magnemite stated.
"No one should hold us back now." Squirtle told the group, "Let's find Metapod."
"Don't worry. He is on approach." Leafeon assured them, looking into the trees. Sure enough, the group turned, and saw the green cocoon Pokémon hop on over to them.
"Um, excuse me. Did you maybe come looking for me?" he asked.
"You're Metapod, right?" Jackson asked, "Caterpie was worried about you, so he asked us to take you back home."
"Yay!" Metapod cheered, "I was scared, so I kept my shell hardened… and waited and waited. Thank you!" The four rescue team members smiled in response to this, happy to hear he was okay.
(Jackson writing) 'Despite not getting physical reward, we were able to save Metapod and teach a thing or two to Team Meanies. However… I learned soon that there were even more dangerous parts of the world than just bad rescue teams. For there was a literal storm on the horizon.'
Jackson stopped writing as he saw something flashing off in the distance. He looked out his window. Far off in the sea, around the Whirl Islands, a storm was starting to brew, with lightning flashes. That lightening… brought up memories of the next, and far more challenging ordeal they had to deal with.

Opening
(Camera goes through a swirling rainbow mist, before reappearing flying along the open blue sky on an open plain. Leafeon appears, running along the open plains, followed by Squirtle, racing as fast as he can. Finally, Jackson the Torchic joins them, leading them in the center of the group. A Pelipper flies in from behind, before dropping a Rescue Team badge, with the logo 'Jackson in Johto: Mystery Dungeon arc')
Give a name to that nameless flower
(Jackson opens his eyes as he wakes up in the home base, with Leafeon waking up with him.)
So you can bear the coldness of being alone
(The pair walk out of the house to be greeted by Squirtle as he ushered them with him to the Pokémon Square.)
The more beautiful something is,
The easier it is to break
(In Pokémon Square, Jackson and Squirtle are talking to the Kecleon brothers on buying supplies, while Leafeon speaks with the town residents for information.)
So it's no longer fragile
(The trio stare at the bulletin board to see all the rescue requests, before Squirtle grabs one to start.)
Like adding a color to a clear body
(Showing off the groups of Caterpie and his family and friends, to the Magnemite, to Diglett and Dugtrio, to Absol.)
Beyond the pages I have read
You were smiling and welcoming me
(Showing off the teams introduced, such as Shiftry's team, Team A.C.T, and Team Meanies ending with Gengar's sinister grin, followed by Xatu spreading his wings out over the sunset peak.)
No matter when, no matter how often
Let's start a new world
We are the Storyteller
(Jackson leads the team through a rocky mystery dungeon, unleashing flames from his mouth, with Squirtle coming in and shooting a jet of water forward, ending with Leafeon finishing a Solarbeam at wild Pokémon, creating a dust cloud. The cloud vanishes, revealing the trio together, determined and pressing onward.)
Love, hope, envy and even the despair of today
(A group of weakened Pokémon in the dark saw the light come in, as Jackson and his team appeared, smiling as they come to rescue them.)
They will be fuel
Let them push you to be stronger
(The Rescue Team Badge shifts from Rookie level, to Normal, then Bronze, then Silver, and finally Gold, which shines brightly.)
Saving someone always comes at the cost of someone else's tears
That's so sad
(Inside the rainbow environment, Jackson is standing there, looking up at the floating Gardevoir, who smiles gently at him, while he looks back with a sad look.)
Ideal and fantasy
Will be mixed with a young instinct
(A dark scene with the images of Skarmory, followed by Zapdos, Moltres, Articuno, then Groudon, and finishing with Rayquaza flying underneath a falling meteor, all large before the trio of heroes.)
True me, reborn
Now
(The trio, fearless about the enemies before them, leapt in to fight them. The screen goes white, before the desk in Jackson's room in Cianwood Pokémon Center appears at daybreak, the light breeze gently flipping Jackson's journal of this adventure.)
