Angel's Light
Chapter 20
AN: Hello all, welcome back. Firstly as always I want to thank everyone who reviewed, favorited and added the story to their alert list. This chapter is actually a bit late, I wanted it out last weekend but I'm glad it took longer as I debated with myself, added some things and removed others. Initially this chapter was going to reveal Luna as one of the faerie race but I wanted to keep her a Pureblood witch and scrapped that. Also as promised this will be the last chapter introducing new characters from other franchises for a while at least, that said I have been teasing them for a while so it really shouldn't be surprising for fans of these franchises and characters. Anyway that's all I have for now so here is the new chapter.
Start Now:
(October – A week after Harry's 1st trip to Asgard)
A tenseness had come over the streets of Olympus. The aura was one that exuded from the central palace and filled the streets to the point that the cities occupants who were usually out celebrating at this time of the year had ducked into their homes trying their best to not be noticed. Within the throne room of the central palace all of the major Olympians had gathered included the non-council members Hades and Hestia. Also present was a woman who many of the younger gods had not seen in millennia if ever, a woman who possessed a regality that many have tried and never succeeded in emulating. She has caramel brown skin with gold eyes and wore a black dress with red and gold floral designs that went to her ankles.
Her hair was a rich black hair that she wore long swept over her shoulders styled in ringlets and was tall at 5'10" with a curvy hourglass body. She was sitting in a golden throne with royal purple cushions which seemed rather plan amongst the eccentric collection the gods sat on though she also had a pair of lions lounging at her feet. This woman was Rhea, Mother of the Gods and one of the few Titans free to do as they liked. She however was not the only new face amongst them and in fact not even the center of attention.
The spotlight was on the two figures who stood in the center of the room one of whom was Atreus, the young man Artemis had met on Jotunheim. It was the figure who stood beside him however that claimed most of the rooms attention. This one appeared much older as while Atreus looked perhaps in his mid-twenties this man looked closer to his mid-sixties. Despite the age he appeared at his stood tall around 7 feet with a full beard that was full gray and hung to the center of his chest.
He was bald allowing all to see the red line of his tattoo that travelled from just beneath his left eye, back over his head and down his neck before disappearing beneath his armor. What could be seen of his skin was unnaturally pale while his eyes were golden hazel, this man was Kratos, God of War and Slayer of Gods. His eyes were currently locked with those of Zeus with neither gaze straying and it was from these two that the tenseness could be felt.
"Enough."
The word cut through the tension swift as a blade and brought attention to the speaker Hestia who despite her child-like form exuded an aura quite similar to that of Rhea's.
"We are here for a reason and not for you to try and intimidate someone with no fear of you." Said Hestia
"Well said sister." Said Demeter.
"Then for what purpose am I here?" questioned Kratos his words laced with power that defied his apparent age.
"Did Artemis not inform you?" questioned Hestia in return
"Artemis possesses a blind spot when it comes to the lies and manipulations of Zeus, as do all of his daughters." Said Kratos causing the huntress to narrow her eyes while Athena fought to hide a wince.
"Tell me Spartan, do you think I would have come if this was a ruse?" questioned Rhea causing him to pause while several other eyes narrowed.
"No, I do not." Said Kratos after nearly a minute
"Have you met him before mother?" questioned Hestia.
"I have. After Olympus fell I found him lying in a pool of blood on Mount Taygetos. I knew of his troubles with Olympus, all of them dating back to when his brother was first taken, and his mother was cursed. I felt for him and understood that in his eyes Zeus was no different from his father. I healed him as best as I could then gave him the means to leave Greece behind." Explained the Titaness causing several eyes to widen.
"So you wish for me to help you fight." Stated Kratos
"No. I want you to retake your throne and your mantle as God of War." said Zeus causing his eyes to widen before they narrowed.
"No." said Kratos surprising no one.
"We understand your desire to live as a mortal Spartan. Olympus has done you no favors in your time amongst us, truthfully we caused you nothing but harm and misery." Said Hestia.
"Yet you wish for me to bind myself in such shackles once more. Is that why I am unable to die?"
"You live because you are not meant to die." Came a new voice causing Kratos's eyes to narrow as did many others as the Fates made their entrance.
"Father, they feel like the Norns." Said Atreus.
"The Fates, their Greek counterparts." Said Kratos shortly
"What did you do?" questioned Rhea
"We knew of your coming Spartan, well before you even became a soldier. We could have stopped you at any time, but we did not. The Olympians needed to be humbled, we knew we would have to die for this to be accomplished but it was a price we were willing to pay." Said the sister on the left who all knew was Clotho
"Instead we waited until you came to face us and tied a curse into you, one not meant to activate until Olympus was destroyed and Hope set free. You would age but slowly and death would not be able to hold you all to ensure you would reach Midgard." Said the sister in the center, Lachesis.
"We knew that your presence would bring about Ragnarök early and thus allow the Nine Realms to be reset. After this was accomplished and enough time had passed the final part of the curse would become active. You would sleep and wake in this new world where no one had memory of the two of you or Atreus's children. You would finally be free to live in peace at least until you were ready to come home." Said the sister to the right, Atropos.
"And he will not be forced to act in such a capacity again correct." Said Rhea her tone calm though the protective mother was clearly speaking.
"No." said the Fates as one.
"Humph and why should I go along with this. I gain nothing from this." Said Kratos
"You gain everything from this Spartan. Though unknowing you were our Champion and thus you are due a substantial reward." Said Clotho
As she said this she snapped the fingers of her left hand and Kratos's figure emitted a golden glow before the ashes that covered his form detached from him revealing the light brown skin that had been hidden beneath it. Kratos looked down at his arms in disbelief even as the ashes fled from him and flew out of the window.
"How did you do that? Nothing we tried worked." Said Atreus in surprise
"The Ghost of Sparta is dead. You no longer have need of his rage." Said Clotho
"I don't understand." Said Kratos looking up at them clearly still in shock.
"You will, once you've sat your throne and reclaimed your full self." Said Lachesis.
"There is however the final bit of your reward." Said Atropos before she snapped her fingers
This time however the doors of the throne room opened, and all turned to face them as another figure entered the room. This one was a man who was lean and muscular, with a regal face, honey gold eyes, and black hair flowing down his shoulders. His skin is the color of teakwood, and a pair of huge dark wings the feathers of which glimmered in shades of blue, black, and purple. He said nothing merely folding his wings to drape over his shoulders revealing four more figures had been behind him. Kratos's breath caught and he staggered at the sight of them. Two of them were grown women, one a young woman and one was a child, a little girl who was holding the hand of one of the women.
"DADDY!" the call had him falling to his knees as he caught the brown-haired missile that raced to him and was soon hugging him with all of her might.
"This can't be." Said Kratos softly with pure awe as he held her before looking up at Thanatos.
"The fates informed me of their plan from the beginning. I kept their souls in stasis for this time to come."
"Are they back for good?" questioned Atreus eyes narrowed and stance showing he was now ready to fight.
"Indeed, they are and like you they will be immortal." Said Thanatos.
"Immortal how?" questioned Zeus speaking up for the first time in a while.
"You shall make them goddesses." Said Clotho causing several eyes to widen.
The two women ignored the exchange as one of them approached Atreus who immediately relaxed and engulfed her in a hug. This woman with her light skin tone and brown hair matching his own despite appearing rather small at 5'7" most quickly realized was the boy's mother, meaning this was the giantess Laufey and thus Kratos's second wife. The other woman many recognized quickly as Lysandra, Kratos's first wife who was currently holding Kratos tenderly while their daughter Calliope beamed up at them. Finally was the fourth figure who the gods quickly recognized as Pandora only they quickly realized that this was no automaton but a real flesh and blood version. Unknown to most everyone else both Kratos and Atreus had frozen their faces hidden as their minds were quickly assaulted with memories passed to them by Lysandra and Fey respectively.
When Kratos stood there was a light of understanding in his eyes that had previously been missing. The memories he received were Lysandra's own, she had known what was going to happen and hadn't even been in the temple that night. She and Calliope had been collected by Thanatos quite a bit earlier and replaced with doubles. They had literally spent the time pretty much asleep while he'd gone through all of his trials. He had never killed his family; the Fates apparently weren't truly that cruel to him but had needed him to believe he'd done so. It had motivated him to march towards his destiny and the ashes had helped to keep the rage burning.
"You do all of this just so I sit back on that throne?" questioned Kratos.
"No. This was always meant for you. However we now need you to sit to reclaim your power if you wish to be able to protect them from what is coming. All of you will need your full power." Said Atropos before the eyes of the Sisters flashed.
At this action those present were shocked as several of them felt their thrones actually move over in places as four new thrones were suddenly present. Some of them were easily recognized such as Hestia's which appeared beside Athena's and unlike many of the others in the room stood out due to the fact that it was perfectly normal it was pure white outlined in gold which included the legs with cushions that looked as soft as clouds. Another that was easily recognizable was the throne of Hades which appeared beside Hera, made of black onyx with a single skull perched atop it as a centerpiece though it had two rather long teeth protruding from it like the fangs of a sabretooth. Beneath the armrest were a pair of statues in the shape of hellhounds which looked incredibly lifelike and were thankfully rather small.
The third was the one they recognized as belonging to Kratos beside Hestia's with Hermes on his other side. It was made of bronze and draped with a curtain as deep red as a spartan cape. However it had also undergone a bit of a change as connected to the top was what they recognized as a claw from a dragon. At its left side was a round Spartan shield made of a metal none could readily identify while a spear was placed in a holder on the left side. Hephaestus consequently had been moved to the other side of the room as a spot had opened up between Demeter and Dionysus leaving only the new unknown throne between Demeter and Aphrodite.
The mystery of who it belonged to however was answered in the next instant as a woman appeared in a flash of light that most of them rather quickly recognized as Hecate. Before any of them could speak however all of them suddenly knew that these thrones were bound to appear in the near future anyway and why. With the exception of Kratos's throne the Fates had merely moved the placement of the thrones up a bit.
"Well this does solve the balance issue we would have had." Said Hera
"And addresses Hestia and Hades not having seats amongst the council which should have never been the case." Said Rhea her tone firm and causing several of them to wince.
They were soon invited to take their thrones and though there was some hesitance on the part of Hades they did so quickly. Kratos ignored all of this however his eyes not on the council or even the throne but his family. Fey and Lysandra shared a look and nodded an action Atreus and Pandora repeated. Standing to his feet the Spartan warrior caught the attention of the entire room as he slowly approached the throne. Arriving in front of it he hesitated briefly before turning and seating himself, as he settled into place the rooms occupants watched as he seemed to de-age to the point that he appeared to be in his early 30's with his beard now full of dark hair and his body trimmed down considerably. At the same time his armor was replaced, and he was suddenly adorned in his armor as the God of War, with the sole difference being the ram heads that had been replaced by dragon heads.
Immediately all of the gods felt their power increase to levels they hadn't felt since the fall of Greece. While they were basking in their newly awakened power none of them realized that Kratos was not basking. Instead his mind was assaulted by memories not his own which slotted themselves in as if they had always been there just locked away. While he was dealing with this however the power of the Olympians washed over the world in all areas they held influence as statues, art, book entries and a host of other things appeared all depicting Kratos the third Greek God of War as if he had always been there.
(Present Day)
The group that accompanied Harry on his second trip to Asgard was massive compared to his first trip. This time alongside his aunts, their husbands had all come as had Wyatt and Chris, Sirius with Dr. Millard along with the rest of the Blacks being Andromeda, Ted, Tonks, Narcissa and even Draco, Remus, the Greengrass family as Daphne was his betrothed for House Black, Hermione his betrothed for House Potter and her parents as well as all of the Avengers including Bruce who'd finally showed up late on Boxing Day. Even Neville, Alice and Frank had been allowed to come seeing as his dad was Neville's godfather. The only ones not there from his closer friends were the Lovegood's who couldn't be reached, the Weasleys who unfortunately had no blood tie to him aside from a distant tie to House Black thanks to Arthur's mom and Zatanna who didn't have a blood tie at all.
As they travelled to the palace those who'd never seen Asgard were in awe while Harry and his aunts were also appreciating everything. Even Tony who was usually flippant with everything was taking it all in, as was his new fiancé Pepper. Tony had proposed on Christmas much to the surprise of everyone during the gift giving. Her ring had actually been in one of her gifts from him disguised as a bigger package.
"Harry this place is amazing!" exclaimed Hermione nearly vibrating in place as she looked over the city from the carriage.
"It really is! I only got to see a little bit of the city last time, but it definitely has Diagon Alley beat." Said Harry smiling
"What's it like?" questioned Daphne
"It was nice, I guess more medieval than Victorian though. Most of the dining halls were open air from what I saw and there were a lot of interesting shops. I didn't see anyone wearing robes though if it's not some kind of armor I saw mostly tunics and trousers from guys while the ladies were in dresses for the most part." Said Harry
They touched down not long later to be greeted by The Warriors Three and several of the Einherjar. They were told the rest of the Royal Family was in the throne room and Harry nearly groaned as he realized they were going to have to go through formal greetings which would take forever with this many people. The throne room was packed though only his grandmother and aunt stood beside the throne where his grandfather sat while Loki was nowhere to be seen. True to his suspicions the introductions did take some time though it was quicker than expected, the interesting bits at least for Harry were Sirius and Remus being introduced as his fathers Blood-Brothers and what that meant which was basically an oath sworn in blood where they pretty much adopted each other.
Tony was introduced as an Artificer of renown; Neville being introduced as his oathbound son which was the closest thing the various godly pantheons had to godparents apparently. He could tell the introduction of Hemione and Daphne as his betrotheds had knocked the wind from a few sails though he was pretty sure his grandmother was quite pleased. Finally when it was over Loki made his appearance the illusion of a guard fading away to reveal his regular form. While some of his companions were still reeling Loki gestured and Natasha stepped forward only to be announced as the final bride he'd told them of for Thor surprising Harry, his father and just about everyone else. The only ones who didn't seem surprised were Clint and Steve. Finally his grandfather spoke bringing silence to the hall.
"As is well known Asgard typically does not allow mortals within its halls. Today however is special, those that were introduced to us as Avengers are part of the team that Thor joined that fought off the invasion of Midgard a short time ago by the creatures known as Chitauri." Spoke Odin stunning many in the hall.
"For this act of valor these individuals have been given my blessing to walk amongst us. Perhaps in time more than just Lady Natasha will come to live here for I sense quite a few amongst this group are already timeless. Now then let us prepare for tonight's festivities."
From there the group was split up as they were directed to where they would be staying. The Black, Granger, Greengrass and Longbottom families were along with the Avengers directed to the guest wing were they would be staying for the duration of their stay. Sirius and Remus by virtue of their Blood-Brother bond would be staying in the family wing as were the Halliwell family and Neville as Thor's outbound son. Tonks and Dr. Millard unlike the other guest were staying in the family wing as well with Remus and Sirius. Finally there were Daphne and Hermione who thanks to their betrothals with Harry would also be in the family wing and would in fact be sharing Harry's suite.
That however had gotten the attention of the Grangers who were swiftly invited to see the suite by his did who he knew would be in his Thor form for the duration of their stay. The Greengrass family were also invited to see it an invitation they accepted. Upon entering Harry found his suite was for the most part just as he left it with the exception that there were now three more doors in the room. Those doors opened to reveal bedchambers similar to his own. Harry didn't bother to look in the girls rooms instead he'd focused on Hedwig who he found on her roost and gave her some affection rubs. They'd found even in her owl form she still possessed some of her thunderbird powers such as the ability to teleport with lightning. This is why he hadn't been surprised to see her as he'd known she was coming when he first told her about the trip. Even with this ability he knew she still preferred to fly which he honestly didn't blame her for.
"So what's supposed to happen tonight?" questioned Mr. Granger getting Harry's attention.
"A feast. During Yuletide all are invited to feast in Odin's Hall every night of the celebration. In two days' time however there will be a ball, it is an annual event however this year we will also be announcing our new alliance with Olympus." Said Thor
"Wait like the Olympians they're real?" questioned Norah Granger in surprise.
"Yes. All of this worlds various gods are real for the most part. Some have faded over time, but they existed. Olympus however tends to move for while it was once in Greece it has sense then been in Rome and London and now is located in the United States. Olympus follows what they call the flame of the west and where it moves so to shall it and those gods who call it home."
Before more could be spoken about that there was a knock on the door which opened to reveal his grandmother followed by Aldis and two other young woman.
"Hello, everyone, we won't be long. I just want to do some introductions. Hermione, Daphne this is Inga and Frida, they will be your stylist and as such will help you put together your wardrobes. Harry, Aldis has already placed your outfit out for today. Now then let's get you all properly dressed, then I'll give you a bit of a tour. One day this will be your home after all."
Time seemed to pass quickly and in what seemed to be the blink of an eye it was time for the Yule Ball. The last few days had been a bit of a whirlwind, as there was so much to do but very little time. The tour had gone much as his last one had gone only they'd nearly had to drag Hermione from the library. The library in the citadel was massive which made a ton of sense considering all that those of Asgard had seen and learned in all the time they had been around. While others like Lord Greengrass, Daphne and Norah Granger had also appreciated the library no ones reaction had been like Hermione's and already there was speculation that she would become a Goddess of Wisdom in time.
The feast that night had been wonderful during which time he'd been introduced to many of the nobles and notable warriors. There had been many introductions especially because of the number of new people in his party but it had overall been a really good time with some really good food. Of course with Sirius in attendance the Asgardians had been introduced to both butterbeer and firewhiskey. While many enjoyed the butterbeer they found the firewhiskey lacked the kick that Asgardians needed for their alcoholic drinks. Sirius he noticed had taken it as a challenge and had a gotten a look in his eye that Harry knew meant he was plotting. Daphne, Lady Greengrass, Narcissa and Andromeda however had seemed to have fun allowing their Slytherin sides out amongst all of the nobles.
Hermione had somehow once again found herself in the midst of a conversation between Tony, Bruce and Jane that had drawn in other individuals who could keep up with them such as Mimir. Mr. Granger had found himself amongst a host of warriors sharing stories of his time in the military before he retired while his aunts also found themselves telling stories of their own previous battles. Then there had been the Avengers who'd been telling of their own battles not just against the Chitauri but their own separate adventures. There had however been one period where Clint and Natasha had encountered one of Asgard's newest warriors by the name of Albert 'Al' Simmons who had apparently once been part of an elite team they were on with S.H.I.E.L.D, unfortunately Harry didn't learn more than that as they had decided to save the serious talk for later.
The next day had been what Harry was privately calling ritual day. Jane, Natasha, Hermione and Daphne had all undergone the ritual that would make them into Asgardians. Prue hadn't undergone the ritual however unlike others she didn't need to, she had simply willed it and she suddenly passed as an Asgardian. Privately she explained as a kitsune she was of a higher-level existence so she possessed the ability to will herself to a lesser state. Because Daphne and Hermione were witches and thus already able to channel magic the ritual circle they used had been different than the one that Natasha and Jane used, though still not the same as the one he himself used those months earlier.
While the ritual had not had any obvious effects on Hermione and Daphne that had not been the case with Natasha and Jane. As Hermione and Daphne were still growing the magic would allow their bodies more time to make the changes as they aged, much like it had with Harry. This was not the case with Jane and Natasha who were adults and as such already fully grown. The two of them had grown several inches and were now just shy of 6 feet in height and had apparently gotten some major muscle definition amongst other changes. Steve had likened the after affects to what the super soldier serum had done for him, though he hadn't gotten magic with his upgrade like the girls had. Still Harry hadn't spent much time around the older women as his attention had been fixed on Hermione and Daphne for the most part.
The one time he'd been pulled away had been by Bruce who had thanked him for his Christmas gifts. The first had been a pair of purple dragonhide shorts that were charmed to grow as he did, which meant they wouldn't be ripped, cut or shot up. The second had been a set of books, focusing on potions. He'd given him a couple of calming droughts so he could see the benefits and had immediately gotten Bruce interested in the subject. Considering Bruce was a legitimate genius with multiple PhD's in fields like biology and chemistry he had figured Bruce would make a remarkable potions master. Between the gifts he'd given Tony and Bruce however it had caught his godfathers attention who had also pulled him aside. However once he explained his idea Padfoot was fully on board and had run off to speak with Moony and his father. He had however stopped him and asked him to include Frank and Lord Greengrass on the discussion getting a wicked smirk from his godfather before he rushed off.
Shaking the thoughts away he focused instead on the image presented by the mirror. The outfit that Aldis had picked out for him consisted of a white dress shirt beneath a sleeveless red jerkin with gold accents that was cut in such a way that the bottom length on the front and back hung to about his mid-thigh. He wore black trousers tucked into gold boots that came up to the midpoint of his shins. His hands were uncovered which was a win as Aldis had wanted him to wear gold gloves. Unfortunately he lost the battle on the cape which was gold and went down to the midpoint of his shins though somehow did not go over his shoulders. His hair had been washed and styled so that it was now in stylized curls rather that the mess he usually had. He had been surprised until the stylist revealed he'd learned all about Potter hair while his father had been mortal and as such already knew how to treat it and get results.
"Looking good nephew." Said Loki breaking him from his inspection.
"I still think it's a bit much."
As he said this he turned to face his uncle only to see Loki was dressed much the same as he was only in green and gold with black boots. He wore fingerless gloves that went nearly to his elbow and while he wasn't wearing a cape he was wearing a golden headpiece that had a faceguard which covered most of his jaw with a pair of short horns on his forehead that went out and ended pointed upwards rather than the long sweeping horns he'd seen in some of the pictures released after the Battle of New York.
"Nonsense nephew." Said Loki physically turning him so that he was once more looking into the mirror.
"What you see before you is the image of Hadrian Thorson, Prince of Asgard. As Harry Potter you are used to presenting yourself in a more casual way. This is however your debut as Hadrian as it were and while they are the same person this is who people need to see tonight." Said Loki
"Now then I take it young miss Hermione and Daphne are elsewhere at the moment." Said Loki
"Yeah. They came and got them hours ago from their rooms, but I have no idea where they are." Said Harry as he followed his uncle out of his bedchambers, through the common room and out into the halls.
A few minutes later and they were entering his father's room where just about every male that had come to Asgard with them were gathered. The only ones not present were Wyatt and Chris who due to their rather young ages were excused from the event. All of them were dressed similarly though only his father stood out as he wore both his signature red cape and a large, winged helmet that was made of gold. He knew that the helmet and headpieces they wore acted as crowns for them as Asgardians typically didn't were those, plus what they did wear could also be taken into battle. He knew his grandfather had one that had both wings and horns while his aunt Angela's had wings even larger than his dads had.
There was soon a knock on the door and as a group they were soon travelling down the halls once more. Soon they came to the entrance of the Ballroom were tonight's even would be held were the women were already gathered. All of them were dressed in fancy dresses in a multitude of colors with their hair in various styles. The entire group were not together long however as soon they were entering the room leaving just a small group which consisted of his aunt and her escort Al, his uncle Loki, his dad with Prue, Natasha, Jane and Sif and Harry with Daphne and Hermione. Daphne looked like a younger version of Cinderella with her hair done up only she was wearing a gold dress while Hermione was wearing a red one and her hair was worn down and was showing an abundance of curls instead of the curly, frizzy hair she was known for. While he knew Hermione didn't really put much stock in appearance he made sure to compliment both of them and forced himself to look away from their chests at the noticeable swell caused by the ritual.
His grandparents soon appeared with Aldis someone accompanying them carrying a covered tray in their hands. Upon reaching them his grandmother removed the cloth covering on the tray revealing the headpiece that Harry had chosen as his own. Like his dad and aunt he'd chosen wings only they were not large and didn't flare outwards, instead they were sleek and tucked in similar to the wing design on Caps helmet only instead of two points it had four. It was solid gold like the other ceremonial pieces and like Loki's and Angela's was more like a crown as it wasn't a full helmet design. Frigga placed it on his head where it settled easily, and she pronounced him as ready.
Soon they were being called to enter and his uncle was the first to be called to enter. His aunt was next announced by her true name of Aldrif Odinsdottir causing her to grimace while his dad snickered and her date was announced as Albert Simmons, so at least he now knew his actual name. Then Harry was called or rather Prince Hadrian Thorson was called with both Daphne and Hermione announced as his Ladies causing them to blush lightly as they made their way inside. With Daphne on his left arm and Hermione on his right he was honestly not sure who was more nervous between Hermione and himself. Daphne of course had been trained for this sort of thing and had the poise of the heiress of a Most Ancient and Most Noble House. Taking a breath Harry gave both girls a smile and as one they entered the room and began taking the steps down to the main floor.
When they settled by his aunt, his father was already making his way down with his ladies. The line was quite long by the time his grandparents entered and his grandfather began his speech to open the festivities. The speech was thankfully short during which point he announced the now formal alliance between Asgard and Olympus. It was at this point he got his first look at Zeus himself who was very tall, and more than a little imposing with a very muscular build shoulder-length black hair and a gray-and-black neatly trimmed beard. He has brilliant electric-blue eyes with his face a mask of seriousness. He was dressed more modernly in a dark blue three-piece suit and not in the old fashion chiton style that he'd been expecting.
At his side was his wife Hera who Harry thought was a very beautiful woman with silver hair braided over one shoulder with large soft brown eyes. She wore a dress that shimmered with colors like peacock feathers and like most of the women he'd met that had been touched with divinity she was tall yet graceful. He'd been warned about Hera who was not a fan of demigods, his grandmother however had told him she may react differently to him as his parents were actually married unlike most demigods who were the result of various gods sleeping around. He was surprised however when he and the girls were called to join them on the dais and at a look from his father did so.
"Now then part of our alliance negotiations was the agreement of a betrothal between our two realms, in this case a son of the House of Odin and a daughter of the House of Zeus. As such my grandson Hadrian will represent the House of Odin in this union." Said Odin causing a bit of mummering from the crowd.
Harry noticed none of that however instead he noticed the look in Zeus's eyes, one he'd seen many times both from Snape and Vernon of pure condescension. While at one time such a look would have given way to fear Harry was no longer that person instead he stared back unflinchingly as his eyes began to glow with the power that was there for him to call on should he fill the need. The elder wasn't intimidated but he smirked and what looked like approval shined through for but a moment before his face returned to a neutral mask. Looking quickly to Hera he saw a brief flicker of something, but it was gone before he could identify it as Zeus began to speak.
"I have many daughters and granddaughters from which to choose from. However the one closest to you in age is no longer an option. As such I have chosen one who I feel is the most suited. Come."
At the final word there was a bit of movement from the crowd behind him before a young woman began to make her way forward. She looked around fifteen and had long deep black hair a light blue eyes. She wore a blue dress that matched well with her eyes and exposed the fact that she was very well endowed. She was also pretty tall and Harry guessed that she would be equal to Alicia who he knew was one of the tallest girls in her year which would put her at around 5'7". That gave her a good three inches on him which thankfully wasn't much in his mind.
"My daughter, Princess Diana of Themyscira." Said Zeus causing several eyes to widen around the room.
Harry did his best not to react upon the realization that his newest betrothed was one of the mythical Amazons of Paradise Island. As such he was able to catch the quick look of distaste Hera had before it was hidden, and he realized rather quickly that the girl was a demigod and as such the result of one of Zeus's numerous and famous dalliances with mortals.
"As agreed upon Princess Diana will be fostered in Asgard. She will henceforth become a ward of the House of Odin and under the protection of the Lady Sif."
This announcement from his grandfather was met with much approval. Sif was the perfect choice, not only was she one of Asgard's greatest warriors and the Goddess of War, but she was also announced as the betrothed of his father Thor and as such would one day be Queen. They were soon dismissed, and the ball was officially opened with Harry sharing the first dance with Diana, then Daphne and Hermione before they were all seated to get to know each other. Very quickly Leo made his way over and Diana was surprised to see him though greeted him warmly. She was soon introduced to Piper, Phoebe and Paige along with their husbands though was impressed that Phoebe had married a cupid.
Harry soon was pulled away by his father and they made the rounds. He was soon introduced to a number of people starting with Lady Hestia who he felt an instant liking for. Following that he was introduced to a number of the Olympians along with their children who had been invited at Odin's assistance apparently. Following Hestia he was introduced to Hermes who was apparently one of his father's friends with him were two of his sons Travis and Conner who were nearly two years apart age wise. Next was Apollo and his sons Lee, Michael, and Will none of whom looked anything alike save for their blond hair and blue eyes they seemed to have inherited from their father. Then was Ares who his father called a sparring partner who brought his daughter Clarisse.
The next person was Aphrodite who brought her daughter Silena both of whom Harry thought were very beautiful. The next was Athena and her daughter Annabeth, though the girl gave him pause and caused him to look at her a bit harder. She had the look of her mother only with blonde hair to go with her gray eyes whereas Athena had dark brown hair. It was not however this that gave him pause but her features which Annabeth quickly noticed.
"Is there something wrong?" questioned Annabeth eyes narrowed.
"You said your last name is Chase right?" questioned Harry
"Yes." Said the girl.
"You remind me of my cousin Magnus Chase, Frey's son." Said Harry causing her eyes to widen in shock.
"Magnus is here?" questioned the girl.
"Annabeth?" questioned Athena with a frowning.
"He's my cousin. I haven't seen him in years." Said Annabeth surprising both Thor and Athena.
"He's over that way with his mom and some of the others." Said Harry pointing them out.
"Thank you. I hope we can be friends." Said the girl before swiftly making her way over with her mother following her closely.
"That family must be special. It is not often that two gods take interest in the same family." Said Thor thoughtfully
Shaking those thoughts away he guided Harry over to another Olympian this one with short cut black hair who he introduced as Poseidon. With him along with his wife Amphitrite and his heir Triton, Poseidon introduced them to his demigod son Percy Jackson who looked like Poseidon in miniature. The two shook hands and unknowingly began a friendship that would see them through many ups and downs but would become one of legend in the fullness of time.
The Greek Gods were not the only ones in attendance nor all that he would meet as he was next directed to meet the Dwarf King Eitri, who Harry thought privately looked as if he stepped right out of Middle Earth. He met several of the Egyptian/African gods and goddesses including the Panther Goddess Bastet and the Sky God Horus both of home his father counted amongst his friends. His uncle Loki introduced him to the Anansi the Spider God as well the Monkey King Sun Wukong. He was also surprised to see a number of giants including who his father named as Helblindi one of the few remaining sons of Laufey. He met a number of others as well but eventually he was released and was allowed to return to the girls and Neville to enjoy the rest of the night.
A few weeks later and Harry was happy to be back in his routine of classes at Hogwarts. They had left Phoebe and Coop in Asgard for their honeymoon, at least after the New Year's Ball that the Queen had thrown. That one had seen Harry and his aunts introduced to the rest of the nobles that were known to the U.K. The surprise for Harry had been the presence of Justin Finch-Fletchley whose grandfather was apparently a Duke himself making Justin a Viscount. Aside from them a few of the nobles in attendance had children in Hogwarts who had accompanied Princes William and Harry which made things a bit easier.
There had also been the small wrinkle from when he introduced Diana who revealed she was not only the Princess of Themyscira an island many of them had no idea existed but also the daughter of Zeus. That had blown more than a few minds and his father had stepped up to explain that the veil that separates their worlds was weakening and had been since the Battle of New York. This meant that inevitably the world would learn that the Gods themselves were still around. He'd been asked why they'd hidden in the first place and informed the group at large that the Gods had wanted humans to develop on their own without their interference, much like how a parent steps back so their children could learn and grow. That had silenced any grumblings and left many more in thought.
His father also surprised them when he informed them that the marriage was for an alliance to counteract any other attacks like what happened in New York which pleased many that even gods hadn't been happy with that. One person had wondered what else was out there that they had written off and was kindly informed that the question to ask is what isn't out there as the world was much bigger than modern humans had any idea of. After that however they had stayed in Potter Manor for a few days before Diana returned to Asgard. Of course in that time he'd had plenty of visitors so the friends he had that hadn't met her could do so.
Returning to the magical world came with its issues and not just school. He was reminded quickly that he'd been attacked by Death Eaters when people had come to his compartment to check up on him. Though it hadn't seemed that big of a deal to him he was reminded that Death Eaters were some of the biggest bogymen in Magical Britain right under their leader. He hadn't come up to that realization himself but had been told this by Sirius prior to leaving to board the Express. As such he had dealt with the visits as best as he could though he was pleased that people were also interested in his betrothal with Hermione much as they had with Daphne.
Still with them being at Hogwarts things had blown over quickly enough and the focus was once more on classes. Professor Babbling had been very impressed with his Magic Shielding Rune, even the original version before the tweaks and the connected runes. She had informed him that if he'd been in his O.W.L year that alone would have assured him an O on his Runes exam. At the moment however he was standing outside for Defense Against the Dark Arts, a class shared with Slytherin when the door to the class was opened allowing them entrance. Remus was already inside, and he was unusually serious something easily noticed by the class.
"Today we are covering Wolves specifically Werewolves and Lycans, who can tell me the difference?" questioned Remus causing a number of hands to shoot upwards.
"Ms. Davis." Called the professor causing the hands to fall.
"Werewolves are creatures, they are people who are cursed to take on the form of a wolf during the full moon. Lycans are a race both human and a wolf at the same time." Said Tracy
"Partially correct, 3 points to Slytherin." Said Remus surprising several that she was only partially correct.
"Werewolves are indeed cursed individuals. They are humans usually witches and wizards who are cursed to become wolves monthly on the night of the full moon. As they are cursed they are unable to control their transformations and it does massive damage to their bodies. The damage is so extensive that most of those infected do not live into their sixties as their bodies have been known to give out on them. Furthermore once transformed they have no control over their actions and are little more than savage beasts who will attack anyone friend or foe alike. The curse itself has been lost to time so no one knows their exact origin."
As he spoke and the students took note Remus flicked his wand conjuring the image of a werewolf for all to see. It's body was large maybe eight feet covered in grey hair, but it was incredibly skinny with the bones of its ribcage clearly showing and appeared on all fours. It's arms were long, and paws were small though with long clawed fingers that were shaped almost like the blades of a scythe while its eyes were yellow. Another flick of the wand produced another image beside it though clearly different as it was bipedal, with brown fur though far less hairy and covered with muscles with cobalt blue eyes. Also unlike the previous image its arms and claws were not abnormally long, it's arms were seemingly normal length as were its fingers/claws.
"Lycans are not cursed, not magically anyway nor are they human. While some Lycans living today started out as human most did not, though their parents may have. The origin of Lycans is well known in certain circles and in fact is shared by vampires. Lycans are in truth the product of circumstance, in their blood they carry a genome which was mutated by a virus inherited by their ancestral grandfather as it were. The first Lycan was bitten by a rapid wolf and this genome was mutated further as a result causing him to transform. Unlike later generations he had no control of his actions much like a werewolf only he was locked into his wolf form unable to change back. The first-generation wolves were his victims people he bit while out of control who much like him had no control of their actions.
Lycans are a second generation born from the first for the most part. Lycans have the ability to control the change and retain control of their minds though it is something that initially took much time. Most Lycans these days have full control of themselves thanks to the Animagus transformation. While they can't assume another form this process has given them the ability to maintain control of their minds and actions much easier than it was previously. Unlike a werewolf a Lycan is not negatively affected by the transformation in fact they are superior in every way than werewolves they also retained enhanced abilities even in their human forms." Explained Remus only for a hand to shoot up.
"Do you have a question Ms. Brown?" questioned the professor.
"When you said that Lycans aren't human you meant that both of their parents were Lycans?"
"Partially. However it is more than that, genetically speaking while Lycans have a human base they are altered so that they are also more than human. There are advantages and disadvantages, but Lycans are indeed a different race much as Vampires, Dwarves, Elves and Goblins are." Explained the professor before calling out another raised hand this one from Pansy Parkinson
"Is that why Lycans are accepted and not shunned like werewolves?" questioned the girl.
"Partially. It also has to do with a deal that was struck between Lycan leadership and the wizards. Lycans will not bite anyone unless they have asked. There is only one exception to this rule, if a Lycan comes across someone that has been recently bitten by a werewolf they can bite that person. Instead of becoming a werewolf that person will become a Lycan. Lycans are also responsible for driving the werewolves out of the U.K. Mr. Black."
"Is it true werewolves used to target children?" questioned Draco causing Remus to sign
"Yes, that was a practice started by a rather notorious werewolf Fenrir Greyback. Unlike most of his kind Greyback is a monster who relishes in being a werewolf and has bitten many children both muggle and magical, some as young as four or five years old. Children are amongst the biggest exceptions to the Lycan no biting rule as many parents would rather their children become Lycans than werewolves. It was actually a Lycan coming across a young boy that had been recently bitten that brought Lycans to the U.K and started the werewolf purges that drove them out." Explained Remus
The rest of the lesson continued in that vein discussing werewolves, how to identify them, strengths weaknesses and most importantly how to combat them should they have to deal with a transformed werewolf. For Lycans it pretty much boiled down to don't make any threatening moves as they'll either ignore or protect kids depending on the situation. By the time the class was over and the students were filing out Remus could only hope he'd done enough and they maintained that knowledge, he had the feeling they'd need it.
AN: That's it, the chapters done. I really hope Diana and the Percy Jackson characters didn't catch too many people off guard as I thought I made those pretty much obvious earlier on in the story. The next chapter will have a bit of a time skip as I mentioned last chapter. Anyway thanks for reading and please review. Till next time, LATER.
