"You want to have a baby?" Greg asked. He looked and sounded utterly shocked, and turned a bit red.

Rose deflated a little.

"Do you not want to?"

Greg relaxed and took both of Rose's hands.

"I'd love to have a baby with you, Rose, but it is a pretty big step, a big responsibility."

"I know," Rose said. She could tell Greg was thinking about the time she had let Sour Cream climb up the Ferris wheel when she and Greg babysat him. Not that her and Greg's hypothetical baby would be put in that position, as Rose technically wouldn't be there anymore.

Greg hugged Rose, then moved back and gave Rose a puzzled and uncomfortable look.

"Rose, this is a little awkward, but...can Gems even have babies with humans?"

"Yes," Rose said with a firm nod. She decided not to tell him that while it would be possible for her to have a baby with Greg, she would cease to exist after that, at least not exist as Greg knew her. If Greg knew, he wouldn't want to have a baby with her.

"Okay," Greg said, but he still looked a little uncomfortable. "Uh...do you know how babies are made?"

"It's like fusion, isn't it?" Rose said.

"Something like that," Greg said.

He and Rose continued to hold hands and they walked along the beach, watching the sunset and talking quietly.
