Chapter 61 Start of Spring
Never in his life would he think that he would already be in a different kingdom. Jaune stayed within Vale all his life and assumed he would just remain in the kingdom as a Huntsmen. He was now dressed in his hero costume, staring out the window to see the kingdom of Mistral, where his first mission would be locating the Spring Maiden.
As he was staring out the aircraft window, Spider-Man could hear Nick Fury talking through an intercom piloted by one of his S.H.I.E.L.D operatives.
"Our current knowledge is that the Spring Maiden was last seen in Anima. She was supposed to be heading to Haven to learn combat training and be watched over by the Headmaster of Haven Academy, Leonardo Lionheart."
"Ironic that his last name is Lionheart, but seeing as this guy," Iron Man completed reading a file of the Headmaster of Haven. He was not impressed by the photo showing them his appearance. "Looks like he is about to faint if you try and fart in his general direction."
Passing the file to Wasp, the only woman of the Avengers read through the papers and then looked back up. "It says here that Lionheart is also an ally to Ozpin, so does that mean we have to not worry about him? We are trying to find the Spring Maiden and convince her to join our side for protection."
"That is indeed the main objective of the mission. We are to locate her and then try to escort the Spring Maiden to one of S.H.I.E.L.D's more secure areas for safety before Salem, and her pawns can find her. One of the said pawns is Leonardo Lionheart himself."
Spider-Man stopped his sightseeing and paid full attention to what Fury said. Iron Man was caught off guard at the news, and Wasp did a double take and re-read the file.
"What the heck? I didn't read that in the paperwork. You holding out on us, Fury?" Iron Man asked.
"You can't find it in the file because the spy I have planted into Haven just confirmed that Lionheart turned traitor." Spider-Man could have imagined it, yet Fury sounded mad rather than the professional and indifferent tone he tends to use when talking to them. "We don't know when it happened, but I can estimate that Lionheart had already defected to Salem's side by the time my spy joined the ranks of Haven academy."
"Guess it's only natural to side with a being who can't be killed." Iron Man said it was such nonchalance that it could have been funny, yet it only made the atmosphere more depressing. "The guy isn't getting any younger, and Ozpin isn't showing any signs of gaining ground in this war, so why not join the side of the winning team."
"That is a normal choice to pick. This is why we think the Spring Maiden's disappearance was not because Grimm attacked her. She decided to run away has been M.I.A for some years now, we believe the Maiden is still alive. What little information we do have of her is far few. Yet, we do have some eyewitness testimonies from some villages that match the Spring Maiden's powers meaning she is alive. The bad news is that those eyewitnesses were the results of bandit attacks, which means that bandits are using the Spring Maiden."
"Or maybe the Spring Maiden decided to turn heel and became the leader of the bandits?" Wasp and Spider-Man looked at Iron Man, whose helmet hid his face from his teammates. "What? I'm just throwing it out there. I mean, if there is a chance that she is indeed ransacking villages, then we have no choice but to bust her and her merry band, am I right?"
"We can't deny the scenario where we have a rouge Maiden deciding to use such power unchecked. Besides her using magic to harass people, we can't also allow her to roam free and make it easier for Salem to find her. Though, with how long this Maiden has been under everyone's radar, we can believe she has some experience with laying low. Regardless, if your team finds her and is confirmed that she is raiding villages, you have the green light to take her down."
"But that's only if she tries to attack, right?" Spider-Man was the one to ask or perhaps was the only one of the three to even think of asking. "There has to be a motive for why she decided to raid villages. I mean, she hasn't killed anyone, so that gives us some evidence that she's not intentionally harming people."
"But we can't also ignore her actions of stealing and destroying people's livelihood. Villages that don't live near the major kingdoms don't last long when Grimm shows up. So bandits stealing their resources only makes it easier for villages to generate negative emotions, causing Grimm to attack." Being the team leader of the Avengers, Iron Man had to think about all scenarios of what could happen when confronting the Spring Maiden. While it is true that the Maiden could be held captive by the bandits, it can't be ignored if she is the bandits' leader either. After witnessing Cinder harnessing the Fall Maiden, who has yet to control the power entirely. Cinder could still fight them to a standstill despite being severely injured. So Iron Man could only imagine what it would be like to face off against a Maiden who is proficient in tactics leading bandits and has experience handling the Spring Maiden powers.
"This isn't like Cinder; whoever this Spring Maiden has more time experimenting with her powers, so she could be a much more significant threat than even Cinder. This means we must think of a plan to at least knock her out long enough to get the energy siphon to take the Spring Maiden power." Even though Spider-Man was wearing a mask, Iron Man could feel that Jaune was still unhappy with his statement. "That will be the last resort; we can try to open negotiations when we meet her."
Even though the siphon was used to remove the Fall Maiden magic from Cinder was destroyed during the Vytal festival. It did not stop Iron Man from replicating it, though. It was currently in containment inside the storage of the aircraft. If Iron Man had to use it, his suit could signal the siphon to come to his location.
"That is if she is working with the bandits." Wasp read over a page regarding the bandits and shook her head. "These guys are smart and made sure to hit these villages hard and leave before help could show up. Despite not killing anyone, that doesn't mean they aren't merciful. Some of these reports say that they also kidnapped people for ransom. So we could speculate that the Maiden is only working with them because they are holding someone dear to her as leverage."
The aircraft shook as a sign that it was starting to lower altitude. Looking outside the window, the spider sees Anima's wildlife and a village a couple of miles away.
"Alright, this will be where we drop you off. This was the latest village that came into contact with the bandits. Contact us when you find them, but keep any damages to a minimum. We don't want to tip off the enemies that we found the Maiden, nor do we wish to make a scene as we are trying to limit our presence." The sounds of the jet touching down on the ground made the heroes start to get out of their seats. When the hatch begins to open for them to leave, Nick Fury makes one last remark before cutting off communications. "You three are the first group to start their mission. Best of luck, and we will see you at Haven Academy later."
The idea of the mission was to scout for the Spring Maiden, secure her, and then leave the kingdom. That is only part of the mission, for the other part was also to subdue and neutralize Adam Taurus, who was planning to stage a coup with the White Fang. How S.H.I.E.L.D learned this is due to having an inside spy that fed information to Nick Fury.
The spy has also leaked vital intel that Adam's plan was not just assassinating the leader of the White Fang, Sienna Kahn. Adam would then nominate himself as the leader of the terrorist group. This would make his influence even greater and cause negative repercussions to the Faunus community because it can cause a rift between humans and Faunus. To some, it might not seem logical as there will be people who can tell the White Fang has lost the interest of the Faunus as a whole. Still, thanks to Adam and his group of zealots taking part in attacking Vale have made Remnant think irrational. That is why it was decided to split the group into two smaller teams.
Black Panther, Ant-Man, and Nick's picked agent will handle saving Sieena Kahn from getting killed by Adam. While Iron Man, Wasp, and Spider-Man will handle taking care of the Maiden. The three heroes are currently two kilometers away from the village that was the last known area that encountered the bandits. Spider-Man and Iron Man would stand out like a sore thumb because one is a walking armory, and the other a hero wearing full spandex.
Needless to say, Wasp was the only pick to run recon, with her ability to shrink down to minuscule size, making it hard for people to spot her. Leaving Iron Man and Spider-Man to check the village's outer perimeter and report anything unnatural. Iron Man chose to go left, and Spider-Man picked right to cover more ground. So far, none have reported anything dangerous like Grimm or any Bandits close to the area.
"Got anything, Wasp." Iron Man asked through the built-in communicator in his helmet. Iron Man was hovering low enough that he was not above the tree line, and his visor showed nothing but animals running away from him. "So far, I got nothing picking up on my end."
"I visited their local store and hospital, and now I'm at the village bar—nothing out of the ordinary other than the occasional dispute about the weather. Wait, I got something." Wasp was silent as she paid attention to what was being spoken between the villagers before talking. "The town sheriff just entered and started to speak to the bartender. They are talking about someone coming to the village to collect their share. Bet you they are talking about the bandits that attacked their village."
"Extortion," Spider-Man has encountered a lot of that in Vale. It was an easy breeding ground for gangs to prey upon people who hoped to live better lives in the city. "Makes sense; why take everything when you can just take small portions every so often? It's when they can't keep up with the demand or decide to show defiance is when force is applied. Did they say anything about when they will send their errand boy?"
"Just something about being today, though they don't know when the guy will show up." Wasp observed the bar owner and the sheriff, but their conversation seemed to go to small talk. "I got nothing else from these guys. It's just regular talking about the next harvest or something. I'm going to head to the mayor and see if I can get anything else important. Keep an eye out for anyone entering the village because it could be a bandit coming to collect."
"Understood."
"Roger, roger."
Spider-Man and Iron Man remained vigilant of anyone showing up to the village. Their patience was rewarded with the faint sound of a motorcycle getting louder. Heading to where the noise was coming from, the two teen heroes arrived just in time to see some spindly-looking fellow parking his bike in front of the main gate.
Compared to the usual bad guys Iron Man and Spider-Man fights, the bandit they looked at was not that impressive. He looked like a weasel, and his disheveled appearance made him look like a vagrant rather than a ruthless bandit. How he walked into the village like he owned it made Iron Man and Spider-Man's thoughts of him lower even more.
"Wasp, we spotted a guy entering the village. He has long, dirty blonde hair, is thin and is walking to the mayor's office." Iron Man received a quick response from Wasp before looking to Spider-Man. "Can't believe people are sacred of guys like him."
"Maybe the real threat didn't need to waste any more effort and decided to let the small fry handle the rest of the work." Spider-Man's continued to look at the target before his vision was obscured when he went past the village bar. "So, what are your thoughts on how we should approach this?"
"Hmm, I got some ideas." Iron Man raised a finger. "We can wait for him to come out of the village, and just as he is away from the place, we grab him and make him spill the info of where his base of operations is." The Iron Avenger then raised another finger. "Or, we can place a tracer on his ride and wait for him to leave the village so he can lead us to his place while at the same time keeping a safe distance between him and us."
"I think the second will be the right choice. We don't know if he might be lying to us or if he has friends somewhere and keeping an eye out in case things go wrong." Seeing as the man was arrogant enough to leave his only ride out in the open and in front of the main gate. Spider-Man shot a web tracer on the bike and could feel his spider-sense flaring up as a sign that the tracer was doing its work. "Wasp, I placed a tracer on the guy's ride. What is happening on your end?"
"Not good, Spider-Man." Wasp's voice sounded angry and, at the same time, sad. "These thugs are asking way too much from these people. The guy just entered, and the mayor handed him a lot of lien. The mayor tried to plead with the guy to lessen the payments so the village could have enough to keep it afloat."
"I'm guessing asking nicely didn't appeal to the man's heart?"
"Nope. And get this, the guy with the bad teeth implied that if the mayor tries to ask for help from any Hunstmen, then their 'witch' will put a curse on their homes."
"Witch?" Iron Man asked in curiosity.
"Makes sense that anyone who saw the Maiden's work would think it would be witchcraft." Wasp made a small gasp. "The guy left and is heading to his ride."
Spider-Man and Iron Man waited a bit and saw the same thug entering the village finally leave. As the dirty blonde crook left the area, Spider-Man and Iron Man didn't need to wait for Wasp as she grew to full size in front of them.
"You can't imagine the restraint I had just to punch the guy." Wasp unclenched her fists. "I had to sit back and listen to that man act like he owned the place. Please tell me we're not just going to sit here any longer?"
"No, Wasp, what we're about to do now is meet the bandit leader. Iron Man, can you bring up a map?" Asked Spider-Man, who Iron Man obliged by projecting a map of the area from his gauntlet. "The place my tracer is heading is pretty far, but it looks like meeting the Maiden is gonna happen sooner than expected."
Thanks to having the ability to talk to arachnids. Spider-Man was following the guidance of the forest spiders, telling him that the man they were following was just ten more miles away from their bandit camp. Of course, it was easier to have their help, as they could follow the signal from the spider tracer. Otherwise, it would have taken a bit longer for the spiders to tell him the exact location Spider-Man needed.
It seems that the guy with the lousy dentistry was actually alone when taking what little money the village they were harassing. What the three heroes were doing now was taking a step back and watching their lead reach his home base. As expected from a bandit's camp, its abode was nothing spectacular, as it had large wooden walls with the top of it being widdled to spikes with guards stationed on different sides of the camp. To keep their base hidden, the bandits erected some net mesh with leaves and tree branches to obscure visibility from a bird's eye view.
"This is the saddest bandit camp I have ever seen." Iron Man said out loud. "Don't get me wrong. I understand having the bear essentials if you need to grab them and leave. But they couldn't have a bit more security? I can count only eight in total, with only four doing their job while the other four are just drinking and gambling. They don't have snipers to warn of trouble, and would it kill them to use flood lights instead of torches? You expect them to use the lien they take from other people to spend some of it to upgrade their defenses. There must be something that can let them escape getting caught. Because there is no way, simple bandits like these can be such a threat."
"Nick's intel did say that they move from different areas from time to time. Yet, looking at how large this base is, I can't help but wonder how they can move so much." Wasp used her helmet's built-in system to zoom in, allowing her to get better clarity as she could see people training within the compound as the front gate opened for their lead to enter. "They seem somewhat organized, but I also agree with Iron Man. They don't look that threatening compared to the usual bad guys we fight. There are so many people; how can such a large group move and evade Hunstmen for so long?"
"Well, we're about to find out now. Since we know where the place is, how will we enter?" Iron Man looked between the two. "We could go the loud route and just hope to find the boss of these guys. Once we locate the boss, we just need to defeat them, and the rest of the group will either run away or surrender. Or we can just sneak in, find the Maiden, and then sneak out with none of the bandits knowing, and then we raise hell."
Spider-Man contacted the arachnids to assist in the layout of what was inside the compound and was given the information. Though the outer perimeter seemed useless, the inside was the opposite. Inside there were over 50 bandits who were all armed and were either training, fighting, or handling chores. Some tents showed where most of them slept, yet there were two that the spider could not find out what was inside.
"Wasp isn't wrong that they have a lot more people in the compound. But the thing that is a mystery is the two tents. So we have a 50/50 shot of one of them being where the Maiden is and the other being where their boss is."
"Can you tell me where those two tents are?" Asked Wasp, and after telling her where they were, Wasp shrunk down. "I'll head over and tell you what I find."
"Best of luck, Wasp," Spider-Man told her. "Make sure you let us know if you are in trouble."
Thanks to her small size, Wasp was able to bypass the guards and the wooden wall and started her search for the Maiden. So far, there was no trouble when she passed several tents with different purposes, such as storing food and repairing weapons. Reaching the final two tents, Wasp chose the one closest to her, and when she entered, the size-changing hero was greeted by the sight of a well-organized home. What was inside the tent showed it held more expensive than the common living spaces from the other tents. Wasp sees it had better bed sheets, a table with a fancy-looking tea set, a pleasant smell of lavender, and a large map with several marks that Wasp could only assume were places where the tribe used to live before staying here.
"Wasp, what do you see?" Iron Man asked her through the communicator.
"This place is the tent of their leader." Flying over to where the ma was, the insect superhero discovered notes that held a schedule of tasks. "I have some written documents here saying they will head out to another place in a week or so. The bandit leader is now deciding if they wish to go to Mantle to take over a dust mine or Vale, though the reason for going there is not written."
"If the leader is not here, then maybe the Maiden is in her tent? Check the last one, and if you see her, let us know."
"Got it." No longer finding anything noteworthy here, Wasp was about to leave when she stopped as the tent flap opened.
The person who entered was a young girl with reddish brown shoulder-length hair. She was wearing a red vest with dark brown panels on the top, and a dark brown buckled strap on the back over a torn white shirt.
She wore maroon-colored jeans with the right side rolled up to her thigh, revealing the dark red lining alongside a brown belt with a pouch attached to the right side. The girl also wore dark brown calf guards, one with a garter-styled strap under her rolled-up pant leg, followed by a pair of beige and dark brown lace-up boots folded over the sides showing over the white lining and a pair of red socks that partially covered her calf guards.
Stopping mid-flight, Wasp used her Pym particles to shrink even smaller in an attempt to sneak past the girl. When Wasp thinks she is leaving without getting caught, the young woman's eyes glow red, and Wasp can feel something stopping her from leaving the tent.
"Something doesn't feel right," Spider-Man felt a buzzing coming from the back of his skull. What made him feel more paranoid was that his spiders also felt something was off, so they fled from the bandit camp. "Wasp, can you hear me? Are you out of the tent? Are you in trouble?"
"..." Silence was all Spider-Man received. Now the worry was infecting Iron Man, so the iron Avenger used his helmet to scan for anything happening in the bandit camp.
"Uh-ho, Spider-Man, I'm seeing some movement inside the camp."
"You think Wasp was caught?"
"Doubt it. The woman can shrink small enough to be the size of a water bear. We just need to hunker down and keep still, and they won't find us."
Spider-Man would have believed Iron Man's words if it wasn't for his spider-sense telling him to duck, making him dodge a hatchet that would have split his skull open.
"You were saying?" Now giving up the element of surprise, Spider-Man moved from where he was hiding and started to fight back.
"There's always room for error." Iron Man did not use the same approach as Spider-Man, for his armor was strong enough to handle the bandit's weak caliber guns and melee weapons. Firing off condensed energy bolts that were strong enough to launch his attacker off their feet, Iron Man activated his boot thrusters to let him fly in the air, making it easier for him to fight.
Spider-Man chose to take down his opponents at close range so that they could not be able to use their guns. If they did, then they would likely hit their ally rather than the webhead, and the teen spider used that to take down the raiders easily. Some decided to use clubs and swords, yet none could even land a single scratch on the webhead as he was always a step ahead of them.
'Compared to fighting Sandman and Rhino,' Spider-Man didn't need to be warned via spider-sense that an attack was coming from behind. Spider-Man reacted by sweeping their feet and then kicking the thug in the head, knocking him out. 'These guys are jokes. Or maybe it's because Madam Web's training and martial arts are making me fight much better.'
Two bandits fought in unison to attack Spider-Man. Yet, the vigilante countered each of their strikes and hit vital areas of the body, making them fall to the ground and unmoving.
Super agility, strength, speed, and years of honed experience from Madam Web have given Spider-Man a technique that people like them can only use.
'This is the way of the spider!' Spreading his leg and bending forward, Spider-Man leaped forward and unleashed a burst of kicks and fists at anyone foolish enough to fight him. In mere seconds the spider hero has knocked down over a dozen enemies. 'This is what I need to fight on a higher level! I wonder if Iron Man is having an easier time?'
"Hey, Spider-Man, are you done?" Iron Man's distorted voice made the hero turn around, and he could see that the Iron hero had finished fighting his batch of enemies who were twice the size of Spider-Man. "I saw what you did while flying and taking care of the rest. Nice footwork; I could barely keep track of your movements."
'And suddenly, my fancy martial arts isn't as cool as I thought.'
"Um, yeah, I found a nice karate class at the locale mall, and I just had to enroll in their white belt course." Currently, everything seems to be in Spider-Man and Iron Man's favor. Iron Man was trying his best to contact Wasp with no other threat in sight. Yet, for some reason, she is not answering her communicator.
"Weird that the comm link is working, but I am not getting an answer from her. You think she is ignoring our calls?"
"Only one way to find out. Since the quiet route is gone, we might as well go right in." Spider-Man received a nod from Iron Man the two headed into the camp.
Most of the enemies were taken down, and the remaining who stayed in the camp were quickly dealt with, too, leaving the only two standing were just the two teen heroes. Still on guard, Iron Man and Spider-Man scanned the area to make sure there was no one left. Reaching the two most bizarre tents, they were going to enter the first tent where they lost Wasp when that very same heroine emerged out of the tent.
"Wasp!" The two said in unison.
"Glad you ok, but what is with the silence?" Iron Man was about to reach a hand to Wasp's shoulder, but she still stayed quiet.
"Look out!" Not having enough time to explain, Spider-Man trusted his spider-sense and pushed Iron Man away from Wasp, who was going to strike Iron Man with a point-blank stinger to the chest.
"GRRR!" Anger showed in Wasp's body, for she unraveled her wings, started to fly, and hailed energy bolts at the two who were dodging her attacks.
"What's wrong with her!?" Yelled Iron Man. He would react to such attacks by retaliating with his repulsor blasts. Only this isn't some mad scientist on a power trip; this was Wasp, his friend, and teammate, the very same friend who is showing no mercy. "She is acting like she doesn't know us!"
"It's not just her!" Spider-sense warned him of danger, and Spider-Man evaded a stinger blast aimed at his head. "Look at the tent where she came from!"
Looking back at what Spider-Man was mentioning, Iron Man can see a teen who looked a little bit older than him, with the most blaring danger being that this mystery girl had glowing red eyes.
"We got someone with a mind control semblance!" Now seeing a target to shoot at, Iron Man unleashed a bolt of condensed energy to knock out the girl. Only for the said girl to weave her hands together and generate a red haze-like aura that deflected Iron Man's attack. "Looks like it's going to be a two-on-two! I'll take fancy hands, and you handle Wasp."
"I don't think that's right."
"What are you talking about? You think you have a better handle on the mind controller?" Iron Man had the advantage of long-range, and if her semblance could be mind control, then it must be activated by close range. Otherwise, both he and Spider-Man would already be mindless puppets.
"It's not just these two," Despite having his spider sense telling him of danger, some spiders were still present that warned him that another threat was coming. Something that can unbalance the nature around them and is already too late to escape. "I think it's going to be a three-on-two!"
Before Iron Man could ask what Spider-Man was talking about, both Wasp and the girl controlling her stopped their attacks as a black miasma appeared from thin air. The miasma changed to an oval shape portal and from the black door emerged another enemy who was sporting a bone-white mask and a long sword.
'Long sword, white mask to hide identity, clothes that look more exotic than the goons we fought, and mysterious entry mid-fight. Yup, this is the boss villain.'
"So, we got one who can control minds, another who can create portals, and also one who can shrink." Iron Man made a roll call of the challenges that both heroes are about to face. "Is there anything I'm missing?"
"Yeah," After saying that, both had to crane their necks upward when Wasp chose to grow tall enough that her very being overshadowed the trees and the bandit camp. "Wasp doesn't just shrink."
"Huh, duly noted."
Hope you all enjoyed this story. I had to cut things short, and the reason is due to needing to leave for somewhere that involved my job.
I hoped the world-building I had was good enough and the story progression for our cast of heroes. We are now in the next volume, but I plan to speed it along since volumes 4 and 5 did not do much. So I plan to have the Avengers handle the main problems, such as finding the Spring Maiden and also stopping Adam.
I planned to reveal some characters that will be part of the Avengers, but instead, I just dropped slight hints of who they could be. Speaking about new characters, I'm sure most know who the 'Witch' is, but we all should know now that the Avnergs are now going to deal with the Branwen tribe.
Again, I know this seems short, but I hope you all will enjoy the 2 Omakes I added to this chapter.
If you have any questions, please PM me. Other than that, don't forget to leave a comment, fav, follow, and I hope you all have a Happy Halloween. Thank you!

[Avenger's tryouts: Weiss Schnee]
The middle child of the Schnee family stood up straight and made sure her appearance looked immaculate as she stared at a superhero who was hand-picked by the Avengers to score her chances of joining the group.
She made sure that she had just the right amount of makeup and also cleaned and pressed her clothes so that her appearance would stand out compared to the rest of the candidates. Though true that Weiss was a bit nervous that she might not be great compared to other people who were part of the tryouts. Weiss felt a little better knowing that those who had gone before her were her teammates with emotions ranging from sadness to anger and existential crisis. She would say that her chances of being picked are pretty high.
"Yeah," Deadpool closed the manila folder that held a thick stack of accomplishments of Weiss's time at Beacon and spoke with a bored tone. "I think your not really 'Avenger' material compared to the others."
Weiss did her best not to scream and simply smiled while pinching her thigh in frustration.
"I assure you-" Weiss had to take a moment to control her voice before speaking again in a more professional manner. "Mr-" The middle child of the Schnee family realized she did not know this person's name. "Mr..."
"Pool. Deadpool."
"Mr. Deadpool," Weiss went back to trying her best to change his mind about accepting her as part of the Avengers. "I can promise you that I am perfect for the role of an Avenger. I am versatile with dust, I am agile, an expert in close combat, and-"
"White."
"Huh, excuse?"
"Your extremely white." Out of nowhere, Deadpool pulled out a large poster with team RWBY plastered on it. "Do you see something wrong here, Weiss?"
"That I haven't filed a cease and desist order on whoever made this thing?" The ice queen glared at the poster, for it held a better figure of poster Weiss than the real Weiss.
"We are very, very, very desperate for diversity hires, and you are not it. Like seriously, you are the whitest, most boring, and most unneeded character. The Avengers can't accept you not just because of your skin color but also because of how basic you are."
"Basic!?" Weiss couldn't hold onto her temper and climbed over the table and was now snarling in front of Deadpool's mask. "How dare you! Do you know who I am? Better yet, I should talk to someone else who has better manners than you."
"Wow, going all Karen isn't going to help either. Listen, I don't have a pumpkin spice latte to calm you down. So how about you take a breath and take a seat?"
"Grr!" Trying to salvage whatever dignity she had, Weiss sat back down in her seat.
"You calm now? Good, because I have yet to tip into you yet." Flipping open her file, Deadpool stopped at a particular page. "I know RT gave us a filler arc about some Grimm that enters dreams like some Freddy Kruger rip-off, but it was just not that interesting enough for me to actually like you. If I'm being honest, your plight is kind of basic. Did you get a bad family? Who hasn't? You sing as a hobby in order to cope with your trauma? Big whoop, 13-year-old girls who watched Barbie screech their lungs out as a hobby. I mean, seriously, I think your only weakness is that no matter how many sympathy scenes you get, you are still generic. It's like your one kryptonite."
"Kryptonite?" Weiss raised an eyebrow, for she did not understand the joke.
"Right, Marvel fanfic universe." With the last joke failing, Deadpool decided to pull out the last joke before ending this Omake. "I am trying to say that if we need some useless, rich, white, and with parent issues, we would have tried and asked Eminem. At least he would amp us up with some music during a fight rather than feeling sad when hearing your depressing songs about mirrors and some other s*!t."
"You can't just-"
"Comin' out the nozzle on a fire hose, flyer then swatters."
"Cinderella Man~!, Cinderella Man~!" Deadpool rapped out of nowhere, causing Weiss to be stunned at the bizarreness she saw.
"Listen to-"
"Spin a rhyme to freeze the clock, take the hands of time, and cuff 'em."
Cinderella Man~!, Cinderella Man~!"
"RRRRAAAAHHH!" Deciding to have enough of this foolishness, Weiss stomped out of the meeting room while Deadpool played her out with more of his bad singing.
"If I had a time machine~!"
Cinderella Man~!, Cinderella Man~!"
Slamming the door on her way out, Deadpool stopped singing and said.
"This song will be stuck in my head, but it was worth it."
[Omake: Holloween special: RWBYxMarvel Zombieverse]
'How long has it been since I had a family reunion?'
Whitley Schnee, also known as Iron Man, asked himself that question as he weaved past Zombie Winter's ice attacks with the intent of impaling the Golden Avenger. Showing no signs of hitting the mark, Zombie Weiss used her semblance to summon a small flock of nevermore to blind Iron Man, making it harder for him to dodge.
'Even when they're zombies, they still help each other.' Whitley wasn't falling for this trick again, so he unleashed over a dozen rockets launched out of his shoulders. The explosives made contact with the bird summons, and the result was a large cloud of smoke obscuring both opponents.
Flying in on the spot, Iron Man waited for the cloud to settle.
"RAWR!" From the smoke bursts Zombie Weiss who summoned a small nevermore to use its wings to fly. Latching onto Iron Man, Weiss bit into his shoulder, yet thanks to the thick armor plating, it did zero effect on him. "Let me eat your skin!"
"Always thinking like you have the right to everything," Iron Man used his arc reactor on his chest to unleash a point-blank repulsor blast knocking Weiss off him. "Like always, your attitude blows up in your face!"
The sound coming from Iron Man made it easy for Winter to find him through the smoke. Once she saw the meal, the eldest sibling ordered the summoned manticore she was riding on to slam Iron Man out of the sky. The initial attack was missed thanks to Iron Man's suit being more maneuverable than a manticore's wild charge, but Iron Man was not fast enough to dodge a Seer Grimm attack.
'She must have used the first attack to let me drop my guard!'
Using its tentacles to ensnare Iron Man, Winter dives downward, making Iron Man get dragged behind her. Just low enough to be close to the dirt, Winter ordered the jellyfish Grimm to release its hold. When it did, Iron Man used the opportunity to fire two repulsor blasts from his gauntlets that struck Winter, which made her fall off the manticore.
Iron Man did not have time to stop his momentum and so began to tumble to and fro before crashing into a large rock. Sediment flew in every direction, and Iron Man's impact was so strong that it made him dig himself into a hole that was ten feet deep. Opening his eyes, his HUD showed that the inner lining of his suit was not breached, but getting heavy impact attacks would cause his armor to fracture.
Climbing out of the pit, Iron Man was going to fly into the air so he could attack from a long distance. When attempting to fly, Iron Man's HUG displayed warning signs that a high-energy spike was being created near the area.
'Guess the sibling roughhousing already ended.' Iron Man sees Winter walk out of the woods with Weiss, who is on the eldest's back. The Zombie Winter's eyes blazed with blue-colored fire, and the aura of cold wind started to freeze everything around her. Not wanting to let Winter have all the food to herself, Weiss used her semblance to summon her arma giga, which is now a dark parody of its former glory.
Once, it was a white sentinel that held an air of knighthood and strength, but now that Weiss was just a Zombie whose only goal was to consume warm flesh from human beings, the arma giga turned into nothing but a skeletal being showing pieces of armor revealing bones and the helmet revealed its gaunt visage for all to see.
The first time he fought was when Winter was still human and tried to defend Weiss from Iron Man, only to be infected when Weiss bit her. After that, the second time they met was when both chose to spread their sickness to Atlas. Where Winter and Weiss's rampage to a high note when her latest victim was an old lady who held the powers of the Winter Maiden.
That fight led to Iron Man having no choice but to leave with pieces of himself being left behind in the process.
Taking a moment to look to the sky, Whitely can see that the ship is long gone. A small bit of relief that his choice of staying behind left them a chance to escape.
'And since they are far from the danger,' Whitley ignored the warnings of the suit being compromised and charged toward his older sisters. "I don't have to worry about returning!"
The battle between Whitely and his sisters was savage, for both sides fought with reckless abandon. Winter and Weiss were fighting with only a single mind of eating the flesh of the living. No matter if getting burned skin or broken bones from Iron Man's strikes left them limping. Both siblings do not feel any pain, only hunger.
Weiss was the opposite, as his body started slowing down after the constant output he was putting in his armor. He was no longer at his peak after losing his arm and leg, yet that did not stop him from fighting with all he had.
He ignored the pain coming from his leg after kicking his sisters.
Pushed through the feeling of something breaking when he used his arm to deflect a strike from the ossis giga.
But what Whitely ignored the most was the pain from his chest as the arc reactor outputted more to the fight rather than stopping the shrapnel from getting closer to his heart.
'Just a little more!' Vision was getting blurry, and breathing became harder and harder to do. Yet Iron Man could see that his attacks were weakening them, making Iron Man decide to go for one last frontal assault. Activating the built-in blade from his mechanical arm, Iron Man was going to impale them both in the chest when the ossis giga tried to stop him.
Swinging the sword down at the armored Schnee, Whitley had only a short time to change the angle of his body so that the blow would only strike his prosthetic.
As the arm was severed from the main body, Iron Man grabbed the arm before it could land on the dirt and plunged it deep into Weiss and Winter's bodies. Attempting to lift the blade upward to cut their head off, Whitley felt an intense agony coming from his stomach. Looking down at where the discomfort was coming from, Whitley's eyes widened as he saw a set of arms emerging from Winter's stomach.
Those arms weren't the only thing surprising as Winter's stomach started to reveal a familiar face.
"Hhrrag!" Willow Schnee's mauled face growled like a beast. "Hungry!"
'So that's what happened to you. I wondered where you were after Winter and Weiss were infecting Atlas.' Gritting his teeth that was tasting some copper, the now last living Schnee poured power into his boots, making him fly into the sky along with his sisters and mom. 'Damn! I got too careless, and now I have a hole in my stomach!'
Being high in the air, Iron Man held his family close so they could not escape. Trying to break free from his hold, Winter used her sword and dagger to stab at him. Weiss summoned a swarm of small nevermore in hopes of disorienting and distracting him by pecking at his eyes and the fresh wound in his stomach. And Willow, only just being a head and arms, made her attempts to break Iron Man's hold by plunging her hand into his midsection again.
'Can't let them go,' Whitley was starting to go lightheaded and losing the feeling in his body. 'Just a bit higher, far enough so I can end this!'
Going higher into the sky, where he reached Remneant's atmosphere, Whitley commanded his suit to self-destruct to destroy them for good. Whitley lifted the face plate and looked at his mom and sisters, no longer seeing the point of wearing a helmet when he, too, would be disintegrated.
"I'm sorry how things ended between us. I wish I had time to say how sorry I am. Still, it looks like, once again, I wasted my chance." In his head, Whitley imagined a life where his sisters and mother had a different life. A life where they were happier and did not live in a world like this. "Burn up. Rest in peace."
Back at the ship that housed Amber, Spider-Man, who was on the flight deck, was staring out at a porthole when he witnessed a bright flash coming from the sky. The flash dimmed, and Spider-Man sees a shining star before it blinked out of existence.
"What the heck was that?" The captain of the ship asked Spider-Man.
He didn't turn to look at the captain and just stared out the window, hoping that what he saw didn't happen and Spider-Man would see Iron Man flying back.
"A chance to live another day."
