"Phew." Noar hated this. No one cared about this job. Nora took shallow breaths as she cleaned the toilets.
"Don't forget the baths!"
"I know mom!" The baths were easier, she didn't have to do much. But the toilets, she had to clean the inside the toilets. When she saw a hand, she didn't flinch. "I don't have any paper on me today, I'm sorry." The hand slid back inside. "Maybe tomorrow."
After she finished cleaning the bathrooms, she goes back towards Link's room and just as she touches the door, she reluctantly pulls away. It was tempting. The diary was inside. Hopefully the guy stayed for a few more days, she wasn't finishing reading it yet. She did clean his room up earlier, part of her job was cleaning the guest rooms. Shame the diary was gone, Link must have took it with him.
Once she was satisfied with her work, she goes to clean herself up.
"There!" She just finished changing her clothes. "Now I'm ready to hit the town." Or she would if there was something to do. Kakariko was so far away, and Hyrule Lake was boring without tourists. She didn't feel like hanging out with her friends, without men, there was little to do. When she saw who walked back inside, she greeted him with a smile.
"Welcome back." Link was back from his excursion from the lake. Seeing his exhausted expression, he must have took that deep dive by the river. "Your room is ready, and you can join us for supper in an hour."
Once Link left, Noar tidied up the front desk for the shift change. She didn't mind working, she was bored these days, her mom won't let her leave the fortress, saying something about monsters. She nodded at the night clerk.
"Don't worry about the bathrooms, I took care of it." She saw the relieved face. Noar didn't blame her, the bathrooms were nasty. Usually the night staff did it, since the day staff were usually busy with guests, night staff were responsible for the bathrooms. "Everything is taken care of, have a good night."
Noar still had an hour left, it was her turn to do the books. Why did she bother? They hadn't had a customer in years. At least it was easy, Link was the only customer. Seeing him walk back out, Noar wondered why he was heading out again. Heroes. She waved as she goes to the back.
Once her shift ended, she went to take a walk, dinner wasn't till seven. She headed by the cliff, she wanted to see if anything was going on by the bridge. She was surprised to see a tent. Just when she was about to check it out, a small object caught her eye.
'Wonder if those carpenters dropped this?' Noar hoped it was valuable, she needed cash. 'A book?' Darn. When she opened it, she wanted to scream. The Diary! The guy probably dropped it when he came back from the lake. 'Must be my lucky day.'
Hopefully he didn't mind her borrowing the book for awhile, she was dying to know what happened next. Ignoring the tent, she crawled down the cliff to her secret spot underneath the bridge. Technically she wasn't breaking the rules, this was Gerardo territory. She opened the book.
Alyva said goodbye to her life in Hyrule Castle Town, she left after the snow melted. Saying goodbye to her friends, she sold what little she had and rented a horse to the long journey to Hyrule Lake. On the way there, she met a travel companion.
"You sure this is wise?" Burchard was saddened to see her go. "I'll talk to the Head Guard, that we need to change our sexist policies." Burchard knew she was strong, she proved to him that she was capable to fight. She kicked his ass in hand to hand compact several times.
"It's a tempting offer, but it's time for me to go. The world's a stage, and it's calling to me." She had a longing, that she needed to answer. She kissed her childhood friend on the cheek. "Thank you; for saving me back then." She still had nightmares about that night, but they were thankfully going away. "I'll be back someday."
"The theatre is looking for actors, it is not too late." Burchard blushed at the kiss, he was ashamed to admit he was catching feelings.
Alyva shook her head. She saw the poster, they were looking for actors for the newest play, a play about the First Royal Family. It was tempting, whoever played the Princess was guaranteed instant celebrity status, especially with the current Princess rumoured to take the actress chosen to play her ancestor on her royal tour across the country.
"If it was last year's play then I would." Alyva couldn't decide if she was saddened or grateful that play was cancelled. It was rumored that play was cursed, first the actors got sick, then the small fire, then that rat infestation before opening night. Genevieve quit, saying she wasn't subjecting herself to a curse. Her father then shelved the play, saying he was doing some much needed repairs first. "Oh well." At least Genevieve wasn't acting anymore, she had a new obsession, the Princess's cousin that was coming for a visit. "Take care of yourself."
Alyva didn't see Burchard's expression, he was staring at Alyva with regret. He was kicking himself for not telling her his true feelings. When she turned around, he waved goodbye.
'Take care Alyva.'
Alyva waved goodbye to Teacher, who was sweeping the steps of the training center. Seeing her wave, he waved back. Alyva wondered if he knew she was leaving. She heads to the weapons store, she needed to pick up a new shield as well as some arrows. She didn't need a quiver, she already made one, made with the finest leather she could find.
"That will be sixty rupees ma'am."
Sixty rupees? Must be her lucky day. A Hylian Shield retails for eighty, plus arrows weren't cheap. He must have read her mind, the owner chuckled.
"Burchard is a good friend of mine. Besides, you are a graduate of that school. Teacher, did he take his monthly bath? Amazing he is married. Guess his wife lost her sense of smell long ago." He wraps her purchases up. "Enjoy your day."
"Thank you. You too." Teacher was married? Guess there was someone for everyone. She heads to the stables, she was ready to hit the road.
"Ready to go boy?" The horse neighs. Alyva smiles. She wondered where she was going, she had everything she needed. All she was missing was her sense of direction. Sun was about to set, she had to get moving. She taps her rented horse to trot, she figured she'll go where the winds take her.
The monsters she encountered didn't faze her, her bow and arrows quickly took them out. She rode south, not knowing what direction to take. Seeing a few goblins up ahead, she was planning on taking a alternative route, till she saw a small dark light flying away from them.
"Yippie kah yay!" Alyva sang. She sang to cure her boredom, plus to keep her horse moving. He didn't seem to mind, he was trotting happily as they travelled. "Yayyyyyy!"
"Neigh! Neigh!"
"Okay. Okay. I'll stop." Her throat was getting tired anyways. Moon was already out, Alyva knew she needed to get some rest, especially her horse, he was getting tired.
"Neigh. Snort."
"I know. I know." She could tell her horse was getting tired. "Let me find a safe place to park, then we'll leave early in the morning." She needed a safe place to camp out, monsters were everywhere. She was debating on where to camp for the night when she saw moblins. "Shh. Shh." She never encountered a moblin, but hearing the stories growing up, they were vicious creatures that didn't care who their enemy was. She was guiding her horse to sneak away when she saw a small dark light fluttering along the trees.
"Snort."
"Grunt."
"Hrrrhh."
The goblins nodded. They walk menacingly towards the trees.
The fairie let out a tiny scream. It was trying to avoid the moblins, to go home but when it sneezed, the moblins looked up. Flying away to run, it hoped it escaped, no way was it spending the rest of its life in a jar.
"Be quiet. If they don't see us, we can escape." She whispered to her horse. She silently turned it the other way around, she didn't want to spook the creature. She saw a light fluttering about, but she didn't want to stick around to find out what it was.
The frightened fairie was crying for help, it saw the moblins taking out weapons. Hearing a neigh, it nearly screamed a sigh of relief. It flies towards the woman, hoping that she'll protect it.
"Dammit! Whoa! Whoa!" Her horse was screaming in fear, it saw the moblins staring. Alyva screamed as she fell off, her horse running away in fear.
The moblins, seeing a Hylian nodded to one another. Forget hunting fairies, a Hylian was more valuable.
"Shit. Shit. Shit." No way can she take them all on. Even with her training, she never saw combat in her life. Good thing she had her shield. She threw it in front of her just as their arrows flew towards her.
Noar was biting her nails, she fought moblins herself. They came here on occasion trying to cross the desert lands. Good thing the guards were well trained. If the moblins managed to get through, the never ending storm would have got them if they crossed the gates. She turned the page, she had to know what was next.
It was a scary situation, not even the Sheikah encounter moblins that often. They are rarely seen outside of the Lost Woods, preferring to stay close to the trees.
"Dammit." She had to force her heartbeat down, Teacher always told her and Joan to keep calm. Her warned both that if they allowed fear to win, they already lost. She quickly takes deep breaths, she was so glad Teacher told her how to breathe. She took out her bow and armed her weapon. "You scared my horse! You know how much he cost to rent?!"
The fairie watched as the Hylian fought. She was calm, she managed to dodge the leader's attack by hitting him on the head with her shield. The second moblin, she managed to kick away, with the third getting a arrow getting shot right through his heart. Seeing how strong and well trained she was, the fairie waits till the moblins were dead before it approached her.
Alyva was breathing hard, she never thought three moblins before. She knew Burchard encountered a few, part of the guards training was going in the woods to fight monsters. No guard was hired if they didn't know how to fight. A moblin was a formidable enemy, it was the only one that fought with armor and weapons.
"Ahh!" Instinctively, she armed her bow. "Halt! Or I'll shoot!" She saw a small light coming towards her. When the light stopped, she was surprised to see a fairie.
"Wait! Don't shoot! I'm on your side!" The fairie throws up his hands. "I'm not your enemy!"
"A fairie?" Alyva didn't put down her bow, she was still wired from the fight. "Explain yourself." Alyva didn't know why a fairie was way out here, they preferred to stay close to water.
"I was just looking for a new home! I was minding my own business when those moblins came. I saw you fight! Please take me with you! I promise I won't be a bother." He flies slowly towards Alyva. "Please. I don't want to be alone." The moblins weren't the only ones to worry about, the peahats were as well. Unlike most monsters, they dined on fairies.
Alyva, seeing how young the fairie was puts down her bow.
"Fine. But any signs of trouble..."
"Thank you! Thank you. I'm Ting."
"Alyva." She yawned. "What time is it?" The moon was now high in the sky.
"Late." Ting flies towards the woods. "Come. It's dangerous to stay out here, my clan will allow you to stay for the night."
"Your clan?" She looks uneasily in the woods. "Isn't that the Lost Woods?" She heard the stories growing up, people who went in never came back out.
"Close. But us fairies live nearby. Hurry, I see more monsters coming."
Noar looked up hearing voices. The carpenters were walking out of the tent, the leader arguing with her mom.
"Crap." If her mom saw her out of the fortress, she was grounded for life. Shoving the diary in her bustier, she silently crawls out from under the bridge. She was about to sneak back up the cliff when her sandal slipped. She didn't have time to scream as she fell off the cliff.
