Epilogue

"...I can't believe you would say such a thing in that party, Kuon."

Kuon stepped closer to his wife and brushed the little bangs out of her face. "You cannot expect me to sit and watch that imbecile put his hand on your shoulder and look at you like you were meat!"

"Do you have any idea what you've done mister?! What do you think will the headlines say tomorrow? Young Hizuri goes crazy and breaks another man's hand because he was calling his wife!"

"Hmm...not bad. No wait, they should write, 'Kuon Hizuri is out for blood, whoever approach his wife.' That'd put those men in their place."

"Ugh, Kuon!"

Kuon pulled her by her shoulders and dipped his head to capture her luscious lips that had been teasing him all night. He was surprised at himself for being so in control with his wife being in that red temptress of a dress, with her creamy shoulders bare and the heart neckline driving him crazy with desire.

Kyoko resisted him for a moment before giving in, gripping him tightly while her knees started to feel weak. Six months and she wasn't used to his kisses.

When they pulled away, she was in a trance, breathing heavily from the passionate kiss they shared.

"Please forgive me, Kyoko. I know what I did was wrong. But did you see how those men were watching?"

Kyoko stared into his eyes, that were looking at her tenderly, wondering for the billionth time how such a stoic man be so soft. "If I hadn't been the lucky man to marry you, my beautiful lawyer wife, they would have been flocking you. You have no idea just how hard it is to shoo them away!"

Kyoko giggled a little, her anger melting away. She kind of expected that he'd bribe her with kisses, but like always, she thought she'd resist better next time.

"Still...you crossed the line this time, Kuon."

"Oh, darling trust me I haven't. You have no idea just what I wanted to do to that little fly!"

Kyoko felt chills when she saw Kuon's evil smirk. She definitely didn't want to find out. And she was certainly not taking him with her again.

"That does it. I'm not taking you to those parties next time with me."

Kuon frowned when Kyoko gently stepped away from his embrace and started taking her jewellery out.

"But why? It's not like I severed his hand from his body, I just held his hand a little too tightly!"

"Of course you did. That's why it was swelling hard and fast."

"Kyoko...Honey...please—"

PING!

Both of them glanced at Kyoko's phone. Kyoko frowned, thinking who could be texting her so late in the night. Was there any pending work...?

Even if she did, they weren't insane enough to text her at midnight.

Getting up from her dressing table, she picked the phone thrown carelessly on the bed and opened the text that came from an unknown number.

I need to talk to you. Do you have time?

-C

"Why is he still sending you texts after he was detained?"

Kyoko sighed, deleting the message and smiling sadly at Kuon, "Just like you have someone you love, he does too. He tried everything he could to get her to look at him. But she not only spurned him, she also made sure he'd never get accepted by any other law firms in the USA or Japan."

"But that doesn't give him the right to text my wife so late in the night," Kuon pouted.

Kyoko pulled his cheeks as tightly as she could, giving him a sickly sweet smile, "Getting sulky, are we? He wouldn't have been able to go to any other country, if I hadn't intervened. Tina was really serious when she made sure that he was blacklisted."

Kuon opened his mouth again to protest, but Kyoko pulled him by his tie and stuffed it in his mouth. "I'm not hearing anymore of this, I'm tired, and in terrible need of sleep. Ku—"

Before another word, Kyoko fainted, in Kuon's arms as he rushed to her before she hit the floor.

"Doctor, when are the results coming back?"

The woman gave Kuon a tight smile, holding a writing pad as she noted the current state of the patient. It was 2 am, and she was trying her best to be in the calmest of moods, to handle this frantically dramatic husband.

"Just ten more minutes, Hizuri-san. I'm sure your wife will wake up any minute now, and she will need water. Make sure to give her salt water, if she is able to drink, and then ring the bell beside her bed. Her electrolyte levels are low, so it could be one of the reasons of her fainting."

Kuon didn't understand what she was talking about, but he made sure he engraved the instructions in his mind.

"Kuon...?"

Like a deer, he perked immediately and ran to Kyoko, taking her hand, shaking with so much fear that Kyoko would've laughed if not for the expression on his face.

"I'll be back with the reports. Please make sure to drink the water by your table."

He helped Kyoko and made her drink water as he continued to fuss over her.

"Kuon, I feel better now, please relax," she smiled. His shoulders relaxed a bit, but he was still tensed, as there were still creases on his forehead.

Thankfully, Kuu and Julie were on yet another vacation to the Egypt. Something about Pharoahs and museum. If they were here, Kuon would've definitely woken them up and made a big deal out of a small thing.

The doctor came back as Kyoko kept reassuring Kuon, who was looking at her reports quite seriously.

"Mrs. Hizuri...when was the last time you had your period?"

Kyoko frowned, trying to recall when was the...

Her eyes widened as she jerked her head at the doctor who was giving her a wide smile, "Congratulations, you're pregnant! I'll need to run a few more tests to find out just how many weeks you're along, so I hope you can bear with me for a few more minutes. I had this test taken just in case. Once again, congratulations happy parents."

Kyoko couldn't believe it, her heart was soaring, as she looked down at her stomach, imagining that a life was going to grow inside, bigger and bigger.

The life that was a result of their love. She looked at Kuon, who still in the middle of processing the information with a blank expression. Laughing, Kyoko took his hand and placed it on her stomach, "We're going to parents! Kuon, I'm so happy!"

Slowly, his eyes returned and met her wet eyes, registering where his hand was.

"...Congratulations happy parents"

He was going to be a father.

Him, Kuon Hizuri.

"OH MY GOD!"

Kyoko laughed, wiping the stray tear from her eye. Grabbing her face, Kuon gave her a searing kiss, "I feel like the happiest and luckiest man alive, Kyoko. I can't believe we're going to be parents."

For the next few minutes, they excitedly discussed about the gender, the possible names and everything else that surrounded the happy moment for them.

It was an eventful night, and Kyoko was dead asleep by the time they finished and came back. It was around six in the morning. Both of them called in sick, spending the rest seven hours sleeping only to be woken up rudely by the bell.

"Is Jiro-san on leave...?" Kyoko asked groggily. She got up, intending to go and open the door.

But Kuon pulled her back, "He is not. Now back here, it's too cold."

It was only two more minutes of peace before their bedroom door was banged violently, and they were awoken rather startlingly.

Kuon opened the door to his overly excited parents, who were holding a paper in their hand.

"Is this true? Kyoko?"

However, Kyoko had no energy to answer, and they were met with their son's glare, that answered their questions.

"How long are you planning to stay angry at him?"

"As long as I can," Kyoko answered, reading the latest scoop about the entertainment section.

She smiled a little, as she read Sho getting married to his manager, Aki Shoko. The only woman who could've ever put up with his behaviour and put him in his place quite brutally.

"I can't imagine why you're so pissed at him, I mean, just look at how romantic he is, he made them publish it in the newspaper!" Chiori said as she sipped her juice.

"Exactly! And that's why I'm mad at him."

"What Chi is trying to say is, he was so happy, he just felt like he needed to announce it to the world that he was going to be a father."

"Really? You too? I thought you were the rational one, Kanae."

"Right. Kyoko, you have to understand that your husband is extravagant. I can understand why he'd go to such lengths for you, I mean I've seen him firsthand, just what type he is."

"And what type he might be?" Kyoko asked, snapping the newspaper shut.

Kanae sighed, setting her spoon down. Her diet ice cream wasn't enjoyable anymore, she needed full sugar, extra creamy ice cream ASAP.

"He is a passionate man, you know that Kyoko. And if I'm not wrong, possessive. Like you said, he would have definitely gone for the head if you hadn't intervened. I'm surprised there's no murder up until now considering just how much he gets affected everytime a guy comes to talk to you."

Chiori put her palm on Kyoko's hand, "He is trying really hard for you, to control himself from going all barbaric on this guys, Kyoko. Can't you just be a little more understanding about it?"

Kyoko sighed, "But he needs to learn to let it go."

"How would you feel if the women all around approached Kuon and put their arms on his chest?"

Kyoko crushed the cup in her hand.

"Exactly. That's how he feels too."

Kyoko realised what her friends had been saying, and felt a little more guilty of avoiding Kuon. It had only been a day, but she missed him terribly. His constant messages, calls (which she ignored) and flowers of different colours and species.

Like clockwork, her phone rang again, for sixth time since the last hour, but this time she had a smile and she picked it up.

"Hello."

"Kyoko, I love you, please don't ignore me."

Her heart melted, and she was in tears.

"C—can you pick me up after work?"

"Of course, my love. I'll be waiting for you."

Kyoko didn't know that she'd feel so much better after making up with him. It felt like such a small thing now that her anger melted away.

Maybe it was because she loved Kuon so much that she couldn't careless of the little extravagance he indulged in sometimes.

Kyoko smiled at the little pranks her husband surprised her with. Today it was pre-ordered by she loved so much in a basket dragged by a car. It was in a tiny tow truck, with a cute music to go with it.

She hadn't been the best wife to him, but he was patient, and she couldn't have loved him more and more each day than before.

Grabbing the basket, she read the note on it.

Still in a dilemma whether I should look at the flowers or you. Maybe if you gave me that kiss you hadn't given me in the morning...

She glanced up, and found her husband walking towards her with a smirk on his face.

"So, how do you like it?"

"I don't know...you didn't get my pickles in this basket," she said, examining the contents.

There was a look of alarm on his face as he straightened up. She laughed at him, "It's alright, I'm over that stage. Although later I'll be craving for ice cream again."

"Anything for you, my love."

He tried to steal a kiss, but she playfully moved away. "The baby is watching, Kuon."

Kuon looked down at her bulging stomach and gently put a hand on it. "Hey baby Eric. Be a good boy and close your eyes. Your daddy needs his happy dose from your mother."

He stole a kiss from a laughing Kyoko, who couldn't believe her silly husband.

For the next hour, they listened for movements in her stomach, speculating and joking about how their son would be a player.

It was autumn, and soon it would be winter, and also the end of the year. Just a few more weeks, and they'd be welcoming a new member of their family.

Kyoko couldn't have asked for a better man to love her, she'd never imagined that there would have been a man like him in this world who loved her like she was the center of his Universe.

But she was glad. Through all those fights, confrontations, little moments, they grew closer.

It wasn't love at first sight, but it was the kind of love that grew overtime, like gravity that pulled them in and made them understand each other better and fall as time went by.

Everlasting forever.

THE END

Author's Note:

And like always, I suck at writing endings. Heh.

But I hope it was as satisfactory as I desperate wish it would be, because it took me alot of time to think about it.

I felt like, I've been writing the Epilogue for a long loooooooooong time, like every chapter felt like it was tying some loose ends.

I just wanted to write about Kuon and Kyoko falling for each other and being extremely mature about whatever they face.

I know they've been quite OCC, forgive me? *Puppy dog eyes*
