Here's an extended omake from CH.17 of Legion! Viridian Prime.
One For All is not the only quirk to be passed down from successor to successor, but it was the one that was hidden. The Primes were all warriors, standing tall and upholding truth and justice, and in many cases, standing by One For All throughout the generations.
But there was a certain truth to being a Prime.
It was a death sentence.
Izuku Midoriya had no purpose, having had his dream rejected by his mother, his friend, and even his idol. There was no point in life for him.
"Take a swan dive off the roof and maybe you'll be born with one in the next life. Or better yet, become a Prime and die usefully."
Ironic.
But Izuku couldn't help but feel a certain amount of satisfaction. He was, quite simply, worthless. But now, as he stared at his sword, now that he had this power, at least he could dedicate his worthless life to serving the people until his death.
Because now, he had a purpose. And he would see it through to the end.
Because as long as One For All stayed alive, that meant that his duty was being completed.
His predecessor looked on with sorrow. He knew that the world had destroyed this poor boy, but hopefully with the new friendships he made, Izuku would be able to realize that his life was not something meant to be thrown away.
Only time and love would heal his broken soul.
Until then, he would guide the boy, and teach him what it meant to be a Prime.
"Arise, Viridian Prime."
Izuku stared at the blade in front of him as he sat alone in the office. Everybody had already seen him magically manifest it as he tried to save kacchan from the slime villain.
Everybody knew who the newest Prime was…
It was funny in a morbid sense., it seemed that kacch-Bakugo was right.
He really was useless.
But now? Now he has a purpose.
"Young Izuku?"
'I'm here, Optimus…' He said to his predecessor.
The police had taken him in for questioning, although they assured him that nothing would happen. Apparently it was a standard procedure for whenever a Prime discovered their abilities.
It looked like his story matched up.
Quirkless with no power whatsoever, but in a moment of great need it finally manifested for him.
Even All Might had eventually stopped by, but the man didn't have many words for him, especially after what he said on the rooftop.
"I'm sorry…" He said, unable to look him in the eye.
Izuku merely bowed his head.
"No…" He said as the officers finally let him go home with his mother.
"You're not…" He finished, closing the door behind him.
All Might could only close his eyes in shame.
Izuku's Dreams
"I am sorry, young one. I fought alongside Toshinori for many years, I...do not know why exactly he would say those words to you." Optimus said as he sat next to Izuku.
"It's not your fault, Optimus…it's like they say, never meet your heroes." Izuku said as he inspected his armor. It was primarily dark green with black and white highlights and markings. On his chest plate was a centered symbol that represented the Matrix that he currently held and judging by the extra additions on his back and limbs, he was a flier-type.
"But now…I'm glad. Because he made me realize the truth, that without strength you can't do anything…and…you can't depend on anybody. Only yourself…"
"Izuku…"
"How many Primes have died, Orion? How many of them were slaughtered by All For One while One For All grew in strength. You died yourself, defending someone who ended up being a hypocrite." Izuku bitterly muttered.
In the last few months, Izuku had been taken out of school and provided a special education, to protect him and train him for UA. During that time, he had shut himself off, speaking to nobody, not even his mother.
"And yet, I cannot find it in myself to blame him. Because now…I have been given a purpose in life. If I cannot be a hero of my own, then at least…I can ensure that whoever the next wielder of One For All is, they can grow to take All Might's place."
…
"Will you pledge yourself then, to the next wielder?"
…
It was the tradition of the Primes, when they found someone worthy, they would pledge themselves to their protection and growth, even unto their deaths.
Optimus had taken the pledge with All Might, which is what led to his own demise in the battle against All For One, taking most of the blast that had torn out his side, mitigating the damage and allowing him to put down All For One.
Although All Might had been weakened, he still had a long way to go.
"I do not know, all I know is that I will ensure that it lives on, after all, that is my purpose as a Prime, is it not?"
Months Later
Izuku stayed silent as he observed the proceedings, Bakugo growling beside him. Although he'd been offered the Recommendation Exam, he had refused, wanting to pass on his own merit.
He stayed silent however, taking comfort in Optimus' presence.
"Are you ready?"
'I am.'
As he left for his bus, Bakugo snidely saying something, Izuku ignored him as he ignored everyone else.
Bakugo could only look at him in rage and something akin to regret, but no words came from him.
Izuku stayed calm as he ran through the streets of his assigned area, robots being cut down by his sword and blown up by his blasters.
As the ground erupted around him, Izuku's eyes widened as he saw a girl in trouble, seeming to have been disoriented by debris that hit her head and unable to move.
And everything went to a standstill, and as Izuku stared into her green eyes, she pleaded him for help.
Something just clicked.
He began to run as a whining sound appeared behind him. From his back wings spread forth and turbines popped out and activated, the added thrust making him speed towards the girl.
He picked her up just as the Zero Pointer slammed its hand on the ground where she was just as the exam ended.
"Are you alright?" Izuku asked as he looked at her more closely, she had a cut on her head that was slightly bleeding, but he also noticed that she had vines for hair and the most mesmerizing green eyes.
Even with the blood marring her face, it did nothing to destroy her beauty.
He blushed, thanking the Primes that his facemask had closed.
"Y-yes, thank you."
It was there that Izuku Midoriya met Ibara Shiozaki, where the beginning of his journey began.
As well as the beginning of his healing.
Another Scene
"He won't die if he dodges!"
As the explosion completely consumed the hallway, Bakugo grinned, confident that he finally took Deku down.
It just went to show that even as Prime, he was still useless.
As the smoke cleared however, Bakugo was surprised to see a shadow moving, raising his hand to launch another explosion he was unprepared for the extremely fast attack coming his way.
Izuku's hand snapped forward and slapped Bakugo's hand away, the explosion now worthless.
A metal fist then slammed itself into Bakugo's gut with crushing force, making him retch and practically making him float in the air. Grabbing him by the shirt he then tossed him to the other side of the hallway where he was barely able to regain his breath.
"Bakugo! Stand down, he's in Prime mode, I'm on my way!"
"Ain't no way am I letting Deku beat m-!" Bakugo brought up his other gauntlet but another fist cracked it, spreading nitroglycerin over the floor and pushed him back even further. Still, Bakugo tried to launch explosions but they were dodged as Izuku got close and wrenched his arm, cracking bone as he forced Bakugo's palm towards his own face and pulled the pin.
Fortunately, due to the lack of fuel, the explosion was much smaller than it could have been but it still heavily injured Bakugo's face as he stumbled back in both shock and fear.
'It's like he's actually trying to kill me!'
Still he tried to attack with his other hand only for it to be knocked away, the force actually breaking his wrist as he was flung around and found himself facing Deku again.
Only then did he notice that the eyes in his mask were red.
The engines on his back whined up and he bent slightly, allowing them to pop up and face him, the resulting blast sending him flying through a wall.
Bakugo groaned in pain as he rolled over just in time to see Deku come at him with his sword.
He flinched, his eyes closing instinctively as he felt something warm splattering on his face.
Feeling nothing, he opened his eyes and gasped in shock as the sword was only a few centimeters away, stopped by All Might's hand as blood ran down the blade.
All Might's blood.
"That's enough, Prime! Snap out of it!" All Might roared as he brought Izuku close and palmed him, the impact sending him flying through a wall and out to the street.
"Young Bakugo, the exercise is over. Recovery Girl is already on her way, I'll deal with Prime." He said as he dropped the sword and leapt out.
Katsuki could only stare at the sword, blood staining its pristine blade as something began to swell up inside of him.
"I lost…"
Izuku's body roughly hit the ground but he quickly rolled back up to his feet, practically snarling as All Might stood against him.
"Izuku, you're in Prime mode right now, it's an automatic survival mode but I believe that you can hear me. You're not in danger anymore. I am here." He said as Izuku huffed and paced around, the red slowly dying down.
All Might knew that he screwed up, immensely so…but perhaps he could try and help him and slowly he could correct what he'd destroyed.
Izuku fell to his knees and the mask receded.
"Toshinori?" A familiar, if slightly higher voice asked.
"O-orion?"
"Where are we, Toshinori?"
All Might gulped as he approached what seemed to be like his old friend.
"We're at UA, a combat class got out of hand, Prime Mode activated, your successor…is he?"
Orion shook his head, disoriented while in Izuku's body.
"He is safe, currently in the Matrix…this was not supposed to happen this early, but it seems that our schedule was accelerated."
All Might helped him stand but noticed that Orion could not look him in the eye.
"Orion?"
…
"You broke the boy, you know that, right?"
All Might grimly nodded.
"I do…I realize that he had other hardships, but I was his last hope…and I failed him…I won't do so again."
"See that you do not, old friend."
As they headed back, Orion asked him about what had happened to him since the fight.
"When you took the majority of that blow for me, I was still injured but it wasn't enough to put me down and I was able to strike down All For One, once and for all."
"That is good to hear, old friend."
When they made it back, Shiozaki was the first to approach them.
"Midoriya, are you alright?"
"My apologies, but Midoriya Izuku is currently in the Matrix, learning from the other Primes. My name is Optimus Prime, and I will be…controlling, for lack of a better word, Izuku's body until he is ready to return."
"Oh…I see." Shiozaki said with a grimace.
Orion set a gentle hand on her shoulder.
"I am sure that he is grateful for your friendship and concern, when I can, I'll relay it to him in the Matrix."
"Very well, then."
USJ
Izuku fell to his knees, his sword planted deep through the monster's brain. The weight of his crushed armor and the beast dragged him down as he grew weaker and weaker, eventually he fell, trapped under it.
"I admit…I'm surprised you're still standing, but while Nomu was made to fight All Might, it's honestly not much of a surprise that you managed to defeat it." Shigaraki said as he approached Izuku.
"Sensei said that you Primes were strong, but so easy to kill. Look how true that is, you might have killed my Nomu, but at least I'll have the pleasure of killing a Prime before you become a boss-level enemy."
Izuku struggled to stand, but he found that he didn't have the strength, or rather the will to. He completed his purpose, he saved the others from something that surely would have killed them all. Compared to the Nomu, Shigaraki was a much smaller threat.
He closed his eyes, and accepted his death.
He'd fulfilled his purpose.
"GET AWAY FROM HIM!" Ibara screamed as she whipped Shigaraki with her thorny vines and even threw him away with one.
Izuku's eyes snapped open as he stared at the girl who was now tossing Nomu's body off of him and helped him up.
"Izuku!"
"W-why? Why did you save me?"
"What are you asking? Of course I would save you!"
"I'm a Prime…I'm meant to die."
"No, you're not just a Prime…you're my friend, and I want you to live!" Ibara said as she tore off his helmet and held him close.
"I want you to want to live."
Izuku's eyes widened in shock as something began to spark inside of him.
The will to survive.
The will to live.
The desire to become a hero.
For her.
He focused on Shigaraki who had gotten back to his feet and was charging at them, frothing with rage.
His arm transformed into a blaster and fired, the shot throwing him back.
"You're right, Ibara…I do want to live…I may be a Prime, but for once in my life, I refuse to let what I am control me!"
All Might burst into the USJ, and the villains were forced to retreat.
Izuku grabbed his sword and stared at it in contemplation before nodding as his decision was made.
Izuku turned to Ibara and called her.
"Shiozaki Ibara." He began as his armor began to glow and reform, the helmet returning to his head as he kneeled, his voice sounding like many instead of one.
"Izuku?"
"You have proven yourself a worthy hero, not only caring about the lives of your fellows, but even saving our successor, Midoriya Izuku, and resparking in him, not only the Will to Live, but his Dream as well."
Izuku's voice then returned alone as he continued as he planted the sword into the ground and bowed his head.
"If you will have me, then I pledge myself to you, as the latest Prime. As you have inspired me, I will support you in your journey to become a hero."
Ibara gulped and took a step back, she glanced at All Might who warily nodded his head in support.
"Very well, but I have one condition."
"Name it."
"That you do your best to live and come back to me."
…
"I accept."
Immediately a glow began to rise from Izuku's chest and a light connected him and Ibara who gasped as she felt energy surge through her.
Looking at her torn dress, she found light streaks of green appear and around her neck a necklace appeared with the same symbol of the Prime's that decorated Izuku's chest plate.
Those that were present were in awe at the spectacle in front of them, feeling privileged that they could see it.
Bakugo could only look away in regret…the slightest bit of jealousy staining him.
All Might also looked at the boy with regret, not because of his selection but because it seemed that he'd finally found the will to live, when in fact it was due to his actions that young Midoriya lost it in the first place.
Future scene - Nighteye's Agency
"No." Izuku said as he began to leave.
"I beg your pardon?"
"You will not receive it. I have stated my answer, and I said no."
"Perhaps you do not understand the severity of the situation. Mirio is set to be the next Symbol of Peace, he is to be the next wielder of One For All. As such it only makes proper sense that you break your pledge with the girl and pledge yourself to him." Nighteye said as he held the internship form.
"That is all you need to do, and your internship is guaranteed." Nighteye said as he held the form out.
Izuku stared at the form but merely shook his head.
"And I remain firm in my answer. Even if it costs me my internship with you. I refuse to break my bond with Ibara."
"Why would you make such a foolish decision? All For One's forces are still out there and you shackle yourself to some useless girl?" Nighteye demanded to know.
Izuku stilled but refused to give in to his anger.
"Make no mistake…I will fight against All For One and his allies…but I will not serve One For All."
So there you go, extended Omake, this might or might not become a full fledged story in the future, but if it does it'd be after I finish Legion and/or Darth Kyofu.
