Chapter 20-The Duplex

Although sore and in pain, Liv wouldn't have missed the memorial service for her friend Davis for anything. Fitz was worried about her, not resting as well as she should and taking on more duties with Grant. She didn't want MiMi to have the load of caring for him. A week after the events at the courthouse, Liv was determined to be a voice for Davis.

Liv wasn't ever one to take any kind of medication and she wasn't going to start now. Even though her healing did not come easy, she was determined to give a eulogy at the service. It was the least she could do for Davis after he saved her life and Grant's on more than one occasion.

Quinn had arrived, heartbroken, to say the least. Her and Liv hugged each other for a long minute, both crying on each other's shoulders. "He loved protecting you Liv." Quinn whispered in Liv's ear, "and Grant was everything to him. He loved that little guy."

This caused Liv to cry even more, miss him even more, and feel guilty even more. The thought of the opportunity Davis had to kill Chip when he attacked Olivia still played fresh in her mind. "Don't blame yourself, Liv," as if Quinn knew exactly what she was thinking. "He would have still done it had he known the outcome."

Liv slowly walked up to the podium. The memorial service taking place on the beach outside the beach house in Santa Barbara. This was the place only a few weeks ago that Davis told Liv to stay, to build a life with Fitz and Grant in Santa Barbara.

He told her to make the lives he saved to have meaning. As Liv stepped in front of the microphone she looked painfully at Fitz. He was handsome as ever, wearing his suit, holding his son, who was sleeping peacefully in his arms.

His son, one he wouldn't be holding had it not been for Davis. Liv looked around. There were several chairs. They were filled with the staff from the ranch who had grown to love Davis in the month they had been there. MiMi was sitting next to Fitz, crying and wiping her tears away.

Quinn and Vivian were seated in the front row, also, with Huck in between the two of them. After this service, Quinn would accompany Davis's remains and he would be buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Quinn had declined Fitz's offer to work in California. Liv didn't blame her.

Liv took a deep breath, swallowed hard to keep away the tears, and began speaking.

"At a time in my life when it was difficult to trust anyone, Davis appeared and took that fear away. From the moment I met him, a week after my friend Abby was murdered, he had only my protection as his priority. It was a job he took seriously, and he never faulted."

Liv looked over at the smiling picture of Davis. She blinked a few times.

"Davis dedicated his life to protecting others, being a Green Beret in the Army and fighting overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan. When he retired from the Army, he worked as security detail for the Governor of New York before landing me as his responsibility."

She smiled now remembering when she was pregnant.

"When I was pregnant with Grant, Davis was the best caretaker. He made sure I was comfortable, never in need of anything I didn't have. He was so quick to protect me and the unborn baby."

Looking now at Grant, tilting her head, she continued.

"The Governor of California wouldn't be holding his son right now had it not been for Davis. An attempt was made on my life and when I was attacked, Davis was there in moments to fend off my attacker. My only regret was I didn't let him kill the attacker when he should have. If I did, Davis would still be alive today."

Liv grew silent for a long minute. She barely could get out the last words.

"I'm sorry Davis, so very sorry. I will remember our final talk right here on this beach and I will keep strong the advice you gave me." She took a long sob. "I love you and will miss you for the rest of my life. Thank you for…." And she broke down, not being able to finish.

Huck walked over to her and helped her off the podium. The memorial service concluded, and a gathering to celebrate Davis's life was taking place in the beach house. Everyone had entered the home and just the three of them, Fitz, Liv, and Grant, were left on the beach.

Together they looked at the setting sun, Grant awake now, and Fitz having him facing front to watch the waves. After a few moments, Fitz placed him in the carriage and held Liv close to him. Looking up at him now, their son watching their every move, Liv whispered softly, "I want to stay with you Fitz. I want us to stay with you."

He pulled her closer to him, gently, knowing she was still healing. He guided her chin to look at him and gave her the softest kiss on her lips. "We're going to make this work Liv, I promise you." Liv nodded against his chest.

She wanted to believe the words he said, but right at this moment it was hard. She was going to take a few weeks before getting back into practicing law. With Quinn headed back to New York, Liv had an idea to run by Fitz.

Perhaps she can practice law in California and if Vivian wanted, she could help Liv out. Perhaps Vivian would be an investigator or legal aide. She had time to think about it. In the coming weeks they would move Erin out here also, but Liv had so much to think about. That would come, today they had to finish making it about Davis and his life.

Over in Avila Beach, the scene wasn't as peaceful as Davis's memorial service. Jax had just concluded the funeral repast for his son Chip. Jax had been drunk since the morning light, and Gerry had witnessed his full wrath for Fitz and Olivia Pope.

If Jax did know about Grant being their son, Gerry didn't see an ounce of knowledge come from Jax. Gerry thought in Jax's drunken state he may babble on about it, but he didn't. This made Gerry believe Jax would planning something in the coming weeks.

"And to the man who has known my boy since he was three days old, I want to thank you. Thank you for being here, despite your own son not even making an appearance. Senator Fitzgerald Grant, ladies and gentlemen. The good Senator has been by my side ever since Chip's mother died. His own son a successful politician now, spitting on the very people who got him there." Jax nodded at Gerry.

Gerry just side smiled him as Jax continued.

"Chip had his bad days, but he was my son. I loved him, and he helped the now Governor get to where he is. Gerry raised his son differently, not to forget his friends, but as you can see, the Governor isn't here today. Because of Governor Grant, my son isn't here today either."

Jax walked over to the casket holding Chip's body. He put his hand on it. In a whisper no one could hear, Jax bowed his head. "They'll pay, my boy. Fitz, Olivia Pope, and their little offspring will pay, I promise you, give me time."

Gerry was behind him, only hearing the "give me time" portion and grabbed his friend to help him up. Jax broke down, crying in Gerry's arms as the director began to lead people out back towards the beach house.

With things winding down now, just Jax and Gerry were talking on the balcony. "Do you have any plans Jax? You can't stay here drinking all day and night, Chip wouldn't want that."

"Dez and I are taking some time to organize. We're going to lay down our cards, check what we have in various states." Jax rubbed his eyes, the booze beginning to wear off. "Another election is coming up in a few months, have to get the cycle going again."

Gerry nodded, looking at the same ocean Fitz and Olivia were looking at in Santa Barbara. Gerry thought of his grandson. He hoped Fitz would find out that Jax knew, but he didn't dare contact him, not yet anyway.

"I have to head back to DC. The Senate is in session next week. We have a never ending series of bills coming our way."

"Led by your fearless son, I'm sure. He's really going bat shit crazy isn't he. Anyway, Dez and I will be taking the boat. Off to sea for two months getting things in order, having a few layovers in the Caribbean, and learning to live without Chip in my life." Jax stood up as did Gerry.

Jax gave Gerry a pat on the shoulder. He looked at his once best friend for a good moment. "I probably won't see you in the morning. Safe travels back to DC old guy. Whatever happens with Fitz, don't hold any grudges. It's not on you, ok." Jax walked away not being able to face Gerry.

It was hard to look the man in the eye knowing he had elaborate plans to make to kidnap his grandson and destroy his son, putting an end to political career. He had too much happiness to look Gerry in the eye any longer and that caused his cold heart just a tiny bit of guilt.

"Jax, don't do anything you're going to regret. I've told you; Fitz can be a few steps ahead. He's not as gullible as he tends to have people believe."

"Gerry, it's going to come down to destructing his remaining time as Governor and destroy any chance he has as president, or he comes to his senses, and I own the next president. Good night Gerry."

Gerry watched Jax walk away. He knew, with Chip gone, Jax would stop at nothing to reach his goal. Jax was like a car right now, running on empty. He had to stop, refuel, and go full speed ahead. At least Gerry had two months to find a way back into Fitz's life.

One month later

Fitz had gone full swing back to work in the state Capitol. Nearby in Folsom, Fitz owned a small, yet beautiful duplex home. Huck was free to set up all he needed on the side Fitz had for his service detail. Huck was very happy with his new arrangement, and having the detail there put him at ease for Liv and Grant's safety.

The other side, a spacious three-bedroom home would be where Liv and Grant would stay with Fitz while he toured the state and made all the major changes he needed to make.

MiMi wasn't going to join them, but Liv insisted. She could use a helping hand with Grant, and Vivian had agreed to come and eventually work with Liv. Liv wouldn't be ready for at least two months, and Vivian was going to finish out her time working in Oakland.

Having been at the duplex now for two weeks, Grant was growing comfortable in his new surroundings. Liv was still hesitant to take him out in public, especially with his maturing face, looking more and more like the Governor.

Grant had just fallen asleep on the blanket having tummy time with Liv exhausting him. The television was on, and Liv was on the floor by Grant, leaning up against the couch. She was watching a political channel, hearing what they were saying about Fitz.

"This Governor is either insane or a gosh darn genius, but what he's doing to California is something we have never seen. Governor Grant just announced wildfire insurance discounts to the residents in places at risk. This comes fresh off his tour of badly burned areas in San Jose a month ago."

The reporter continued, and she had Liv's interest.

"Continuing with his commitment to honor his mother's legacy as a schoolteacher, Governor Grant is transforming public schools and making it about the students. Before and after school free meals, along with free lunch will provided for over 5 million public school student in our state. When asked for comment, Governor Grant simply stated, "no child should ever go hungry because of their financial status." The Governor further went on to say he hopes it becomes a federal program, with free meals being provided for public schools throughout the nation. "Our Senators need to be more proactive in taking a stance on this crucial issue." This could be a dig at his own father, Senator Fitzgerald Grant who is in DC now working on bills to enhance California."

Looking directly at the camera now, the reporter got more personal.

"With the care Governor Grant has for so many, so many Californians are cheering him to become a husband and a father. Take a look."

The screen went to random people on the streets of Sacramento.

"Yeah, he was engaged, but if you're not in love, too many politicians marry just to marry. I'm glad he didn't go through with it, but yeah, he'd make an amazing father." Joel from Carmichael said.

"I mean he has the looks, the money, and now the power, I'm sure there is someone out there for him. He is doing great things for the families of this state, he should have his own. Being in the White House one day, he will want a powerful first lady by his side." Elizabeth from Fair Oaks said as she held her three-year-old son.

"Well, Governor Grant, there you have it. You are living your promise as a Man of the People. In other news, Jax Putney has made a major donation to Grant's nemesis and his biggest criticizer, San Francisco Council President Joyce Waters. Putney, a well known beneficiary to numerous California Republicans, is still grieving the loss of his son who was killed trying to escape from a extradition hearing back to New York. It is being reported Putney donated 5 million dollars to Water's campaign to run for California Senate. This will get interesting. Putney was not available for comment as he is traveling on rest time out of the country."

Liv looked down at her sleeping son. She rubbed the now growing curls on the back of his head. He rested peacefully not hearing anything the news had to say about his father. With her hand on his back, Liv took a deep breath, could they ever come forward?

She began opening some pieces of mail that came that afternoon. One peaked her interest. "Governor Grant, you are cordially invited to the 15th annual Santa Barbara Mayor's Ball on the 30th day of April. Please RSVP single or plus one."

On a rooftop across the street a service worker was installing cable into the house. He had been there for a few minutes and had just enough time on the roof to zoom a camera lens into the room where Liv was watching television with Grant.

He was able to snap some good pictures of Olivia with her hand on Grant's back and when she kissed him. Satisfied with the amount and the quality of the pictures, he continued to "work" on installing the cable. His camera was safely tucked in his toolbox, disguised as a measuring tape dispenser.

If he was stopped by the Governor's secret service, it would be easy enough to hide. He needed some of Fitz as a family with Liv, though, his boss made that clear. He had to be creative.

Huck was watching him with caution and curiosity. It did look legit; Huck ran the plates on the van and it did belong to the cable provider. Huck walked slowly out of the duplex. He was ready to approach the worker, although Huck hadn't seen him take the photos.

Huck waited at the bottom by the van. He looked around the van, didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Just in case, he checked under the van, not noticing anything of concern there either. He called over to Terrence, one of Fitz's details. Huck didn't want to chance this being a worker for Jax and him being seen.

He told Terrence to question the guy when he came down, Huck would then go up to the roof to make sure nothing was out of the ordinary. Had Huck completed his trip to the rooftop, perhaps he would have found the small lens facing into the Governor's living room. Instead, Huck's phone rang.

"Liv, I'm kind of in the middle of something, you alright?"

Liv stared at the invitation. "Huck I could really use your advice about something. Can you come over, please? I'd come there, but Grant is sleeping."

Huck saw Terrence patting down the cable guy and search his toolbox. He gave the all clear nod, and Huck looked up at the staircase to the rooftop. "Yeah, sure, I'll be right there." Deciding against going up after seeing Terrence give the all clear, Huck went over to Liv.

The small camera was taped with black electrical tape to blend in up against the wall of the rooftop. The lens had a zoom into the window of the living room. The guy who set it up could only hope the blinds would not be closed fully. Right now they were closed partially and the camera angle was perfect, other than that, he would be back in two days to collect the camera and give it to the person who hired him.

"It's in two weeks." Liv said nervously. Huck was bouncing Grant on his lap looking at the invitation. "Maybe this could be it, but should I tell him first or be bold and just mail it and have it done with?"

"He thinks you don't want anyone to know about you. Fitz thinks you don't want anyone to know about this big guy." Huck looked at Grant. "He's almost four months Liv, it's time, no?"

"So, you think I should check the plus one and mail it, then tell him when he comes home?"

"I think you have to stop hiding at some point. Show him you're on board as much as he is. He's willing to give up…"

"I don't want him to, I don't want him to give up anything."

"Liv for this guy, and for a life with you, I'm sorry, but Fitz will. You know how much he loves you, how much he loves being a father, how much he loves him." Huck picked Grant up above his head. He brought him down to his nose and back up again. Grant gave a little smile, and Huck cradled him.

Liv checked the plus one box on the invitation. She put in the envelope. She looked at Grant, in Huck's arms. "Here goes nothing my hungry caterpillar." Liv sealed the envelope and just stared at it. She pulled out her datebook from her nigh stand.

Marking the date of the Mayor's ball, she took a deep breath. She took Grant from Huck to get him ready for bed. Huck took the envelope from her. "I'll get this in the mail." They heard the car door and Fitz entered.

"Just tell him I'm changing Grant and I'll be down. Huck, put it in the mail."

Huck nodded. "I got you, and this is the right thing to do." He gave Grant a kiss on the his head, and smiled at Liv. "Davis would be proud." He smiled as he left.

Liv walked downstairs. Fitz was on the couch looking through his phone. "Hi Daddy." Liv walked over with a still awake Grant.

Fitz stood up immediately, taking Grant from Liv's arms, and giving her kiss on her temple. "Hi." How was my boy today, and his beautiful mommy?"

"We're good. Everything was good. MiMi took him for a while so I could shower and he had some tummy time. He's just about to roll over, Fitz, you should put him down." She watched as he kissed his son.

"Is that true, are you about to roll over? Or, does mommy just want me to hug her and put you down, hmm, what do you think?"

"Ah" Grant looked at Fitz with the sound, and smiled.

Fitz's eyes went wide. "Liv."

"And that too, huh, sounds. Wow, he didn't do that for me all day."

"Ah." He said again. Liv laughed. "Sharing the love, are we Grant?"

Fitz put Grant down on his belly. Fitz went down on his belly also. He was face to face with his son, as his son held his head up looking directly at his father. Fitz rolled to his back. "Come on, follow me."

Fitz rolled back around to his belly, looking directly in his son's eyes, blue to blue, the camera across the way was taking in all the still shots.

After a few minutes, Fitz kissed his son on his forehead and picked him up. "You already talked to me today, roll around for us tomorrow, ok, you're close."

After his feeding, MiMi came down to put Grant to bed. She said good night also and Fitz and Liv were lying on the couch. Fitz was sitting up as Liv was long ways, lying on his chest. Fitz's arm was wrapped tight around Liv.

"How are you doing Liv?"

She picked up his hand, brought it to her lips and put a kiss on it before interlocking it with hers. She took a deep breath. "I did a thing today."

"A thing?"

"Yeah, a thing. I hope you aren't mad." Liv wouldn't look at him. She kept her head resting on his chest.

"Ok."

"I opened an invitation to the mayor's ball in Santa Barbara."

"Evan's mayor's ball, yeah, he raises money for his campaign. When is it?"

"It's two weeks away on the 30th. I checked the plus one box and said you were going." She sat up now and faced him.

"You checked the plus one box?" He smiled.

She nodded, a happy nod. "Yeah, can I be your date to the Mayor's Ball?" Her shoulders went up, "please."

"Livvie! This is fabulous. Are you sure about it?"

"No, not at all. I know Jax is out there planning something, and I can't care about it. Chip is dead, Abby is dead, and Davis is dead. I'm alive, and I have to live." Remembering the words Davis told her.

"I get to dance with my Livvie at the Mayor's Ball." Fitz put his hands on either side of her face and pulled her in for a kiss. A kiss that Liv made a little deeper and pulled him closer.

A kiss, that was being photographed clearly from the hidden camera across the street. The camera that caught the movement of Fitz lifting Liv and wrapping her legs around his waist as he took her upstairs to their bedroom.

Earlier in the day

"You wanted to see me, Governor?" Linda Marshall took the seat across from Fitz's desk.

"Thank you for stepping up in times I needed you to, Linda, I knew I made the right decision in choosing you for Lt. Governor."

"As I've said Sir, it's an honor. The changes you're making are amazing, I'm so proud to be part of this administration."

Fitz gave a thankful nod. "I know what the news outlets are saying, Linda, about my personal life, about my father, and about Putney. I think you should be aware of some things. Can I trust you?"

"I would hope you can." Linda assured him.

Fitz's hand came down his face. He took a deep breath looking at the picture below him on the desk. There were two pictures. The one on top of Grant, the one under, taken by Fitz outside the duplex before him and Liv walked in.

Liv scolded him for holding Grant and taking a picture at the same time afraid he would drop him, but she was smiling, regardless in the picture. It was the first family picture and Fitz wanted to put them both up on his desk. In time he told himself.

Now, he lifted the picture of Grant. "You know." He began, not looking up from the picture. "If I do run for President, which I'm not sure I want to at all, I will ask you to be my VP."

"Sir, I'm a mixed race woman. My mother is black, my father is white, I don't know if America is ready for that, but I do appreciate the thought."

"America is ready, it's about time they get ready." He held up the picture of Grant and showed it to Linda.

Linda took the picture in her hands. She looked at Fitz and back down at the photo. Her mouth went open in shock as she looked back up at Fitz. She turned her head slightly, "Is this you as a baby?" She squinted.

"No."

"This is your baby?" Linda said the words slowly, but knowingly.

"Are you familiar with the name Olivia Pope?" He asked.

Linda nodded. "She helped on the Ballard case, I heard good things about her from Leonard Stykes, she's one hell of a lawyer from what I hear.' She stopped. Looking at the picture again, she could tell the baby was of mixed race, darker skin than Fitz although the spitting image of Fitz.

"I'm in love with Olivia, Linda. It happened back when I first asked you to be my running mate. I didn't know I fathered her child. She had to hide her pregnancy, have the baby in secrecy. She was being hunted by Putney and lied to by my father."

Linda's head went back in disbelief. "Wow."

"She came forward with the baby, his name is Grant, not his last name, he has his mother's last name. She did that to protect me. She came forward a month after he was born." Fitz picked up the other picture.

Linda took that one and looked at it. She smiled, a soft smile. They looked like the perfect family. "Sir, your family is beautiful."

"In the coming months there will be problems. Jax Putney is on a vengeance since Charles was killed. He is after Olivia still because Olivia took a bat to Charles's kneecaps after he beat her best friend. He eventually killed her best friend, and Liv vowed to see Charles locked up. Jax never did forget that."

"Jax has been making donations, but he's been off the grid since his son's death."

"I know. He's also coming after me, thinking it's my fault Charles was even in Los Angeles. I guess what I'm trying to say is it's going to be a bumpy ride the next year, and it could result in some bad things for me, for this administration."

"Sir, whatever you need from me, don't hesitate to ask. I'm on board with it. Do you plan on telling the citizens about your family?"

"I don't know when, but eventually yes, but I also know Jax will stop at nothing to destroy me. My father knows about Grant, knew about him before I did, but he never told me. Instead, he tried to have Olivia scared back to New York and the Putney's almost succeeded. Olivia and Grant have been through enough."

"I understand, Governor. Your secret is safe with me. Whatever you need, consider me your ally."

Fitz stood up. "I appreciate it Linda, I truly do."

Linda stood up also. "My pleasure. Will I see you at the Mayor's Ball in Santa Barbara?"

"I don't know if the invite was sent to my duplex or ranch. I haven't received it yet, but yes, I'll be there and I'm hoping Olivia comes with me, that's where I can introduce her to the state."

"Good luck with that."

Now

Fitz was looking down at Liv, her topless chest below him. Her eyes were closed as he went down to her stomach and kissed her continuing down. He gently pulled her silk shorts off breathing deeply into her wet sweetness.

He loved teasing her, watching her grow weak and when her hands ran through his curls, he knew he had her right where he wanted. He slowly began circling her clit with his tongue as he heard her precious moan from above.

Not stopping his motion, he used his tongue at her entrance as he went in and slowly took it out, bringing it up passed her fold and to the top of her clit. Her hands now closed around his hair, gently pulling it.

Her stomach arched up as he continued to take her juices, loving the taste of her. Another moan and an erotic whisper "Fitz." His hand rested on her stomach as he felt her stomach arch up, not stopping until he took all of her in.

He crawled with his hands back above her as she looked at him, caressing his face. "Taste yourself, Livvie." He planted his lips on hers, as their tongues greeted one another, and she was lost in this man.

He reached over, grabbed a condom packet and rolled it on. Kissing her neck now, her hands gliding up and down his back, Fitz entered her softly. Ever since she was stabbed he's been gentle with her, and he was hesitant to stop that.

Slowly, with his chest above, watching her, he entered her, and began thrusting, just taking her all in. He stared at her, wanting her in so many ways. Finally, he gave a big thrust, heard her grunt, and opened her eyes. They just watched one another during their love making.

Fitz pushed now, a bit harder, harder than he's been in a while, and he closed his eyes, feeling her close in around him. She pulled his head down, back to her lips, and she moaned through her second climax, wrapping her legs around his back, the right leg not as tight as the left with her injury.

He held her right thigh and continued to thrust until he felt his body stiffen. After his climax, he rested his head in the crook of her neck. "I've missed you, Livvie."

He put gentle kisses down from her neck to her breast, passed her stomach, and down to her thigh, then he traced the kisses back up on the other side, landing back on her neck. He felt the chills on her body.

"I love when you do that to me Fitz." She said weakly. "I love you, Governor."

Laying now as one in the bed, Liv was wrapped up in his arms, sound asleep. Fitz heard the news report today, the same one Liv was watching earlier in the day. Hearing about his personal life reported, he had every intention of asking her to go to the Mayor's Ball and was pleasantly surprised with her announcement about what she did.

The only thing Fitz wondered about as he held the woman he loves, hearing the breathing of his son through the monitor, was when Jax was planning to come forward with the knowledge of Grant. Fitz needed to be on high alert, and he needed Liv to feel secure and safe enough to let the state know she would soon be their Governor's partner.

While Fitz and Olivia were wrapped in each other's arms, Gerry grew alarmed from his apartment in DC. He had no contact with Jax, but he was alerted that Jax had reached out to several sources looking for pictures of baby Grant.

Jax put a reward out for anyone who could get pictures to him of the Governor with a lady friend and a baby that may be in the Governor's life. Gerry was very concerned on the plans Jax had for Fitz and Olivia. He was most concerned about Grant.

With Jax losing his son, and the knowledge of Fitz having a son, Gerry couldn't fathom Jax killing a baby. He may try to kidnap his grandson, take him away, and raise him as his own. Gerry closed his eyes, rubbing them hard. He picked up his phone, this call couldn't wait any longer.

From a beautiful luxurious suite in the heart of Saint Lucia, Jax sat with Dez at a big round table. In the middle of the table was the face of the Governor of California. Dez nodded in agreement with his boss.

"This is enemy number one." Jax put a red X on Fitz's face. He pulled out a picture of Olivia. "Enemy number two and the true killer of my son. She killed my son; I want her son." Jax put another red X on Olivia's face. He looked sternly at Dez. He wasn't sharing the information that he was Fitz's son.

"I'm working on it Boss, I am working on it, I promise you." Jax wanted a picture of Grant desperately.

"Good to know, in the meantime, keep distributing the donor money. The election coming up in November is one we will have to own. Did you have Waters respond to the Mayor's Ball in Santa Barbara?"

"I didn't think we would be back in time for it."

"Well, we will, have her respond yes, with a plus one. And make sure you have something decent to wear."

Although he was dreaming, he heard the phone buzzing. He didn't want to wake up from his dream, but he couldn't let the call go unanswered. "Yeah." He answered in a whisper.

"Did you get anything?"

"I have a few pictures in my possession of the woman with the baby, the camera is taking stills until t…"

"Until now, go get the camera and deliver what you have."

"But it may not have…."

"Get what you have and complete the drop off, you hear me? The money will be there after I see the pictures." There was silence.

"Now?"

"Yeah now."

"But the secret service."

"Now." The phone clicked.

The cable guy, known as Bounce to his friends grunted as he got out of bed. The recipient was too rich, too powerful for him to disobey an order. Hoping he wouldn't get caught, he wearily got in his van and made his way to the rooftop across the street from the sleeping Governor.
