'Doctor' = Thoughts/Telepathy

"Doctor" = Gallifreyan

Suddenly, Margaret lit up with electricity, causing her to drop me while screaming in pain. I caught some of the shock in my throat which did NOT feel pleasant.

REGENERATION.

I tried to speak and just coughed. Well that's annoying, but at least it isn't permanent. I mentally pressed the NO button and waved Rose, Harriet and Indra over and led them out of the room and down the hallway.

"Oh my God what was that!?" Rose shouted, running right behind me as I searched for a suitable room to hide in. I tried to speak but just coughed again, so I shook my head and shrugged, indicating I had no idea.

20 LIVES SAVED DUE TO YOUR INDIRECT ACTIONS

2000 EXP AWARDED (HALF EXP)

LEVEL UP X4

Looks like the Doctor managed to save most of them, I could also feel myself get back to full health due to the level ups, even my throat healed up. Annoying that it was only half EXP but it made sense, I only told the Doctor about the trap, he was the one that actually saved the lives and risked himself for it.

We sped past another Slitheen that was distracted by the elevator opening. I caught a brief glimpse of the Doctor, who grinned at me before closing the doors.

We ended up in a large room with a few hiding spots. Rose and Harriet hid behind the curtains while Indra stood behind a big cabinet. I was making sure everyone was hidden properly and didn't have time to hide myself, leaving me standing in the middle of the room by the time three large Slitheen came bursting through the door.

"Well well well, who do we have here?" The lead Slitheen said. It sounded like a croaking frog, but I could still hear the voice of Margaret underneath it.

I was slightly worried, I didn't know how long I would have to stall before the Doctor charges in. When in doubt, bluff like hell.

"My name is The Engineer, I am a Time Lord." I said firmly, which seemed to get some reaction.

The Slitheens stopped moving closer and stared straight at me, ignoring the humans in the room. I could tell I had immediately bumped up a few threat levels in their mind.

"A Time Lord, I thought your kind had all died out." The one on the left stated, getting nods from the other two.

"Evidently not if I'm still here." I said. I didn't know if they knew the Doctor was a Time Lord and I wasn't about to say so just in case it made them act quicker than normal.

"What is a Time Lord doing on this lump of rock?" Margaret demanded. There wasn't any fear, the Time Lords weren't known as fighters until the Time War, and even that was a legend, but there was wariness of the unknown.

"I am protecting this planet from those that wish to harm it. You lot have scared the entire planet with that spaceship crashing down, but I don't think scaring humans is what you were planning. You killed the Prime Minister, why?" I asked quickly. I already knew the answer, but the longer we talked the less time there was for anyone to get hurt.

+10 REP with Rose Tyler, Harriet Jones, and Indra Ganesh for your stated intent to protect their home planet.

Well that's nice, I think I'm finally friendly with Rose.

"Why should we tell you? There isn't anything you can do to stop us." Margaret stated.

I paled slightly, seeing them get closer with their claws raised. I was just about to start fighting, with what I don't know, when the Doctor came charging in. He was wielding a fire extinguisher and sprayed the Slitheen.

"Come on you lot, what you standing round chatting for?!" The Doctor said. I swear I could have kissed him if I was attracted to him.

We all ran to be behind the Doctor as the Slitheen staggered back.

"Who are you then?" The Doctor asked Harriet.

"Harriet Jones, MP for Flydale North." She said quickly.

"Nice to meet you." The Doctor nodded.

"Likewise." Harriet said back.

"Yeah if you don't mind, can we get away from the aliens wanting to slash us to bits?" I added sarcastically.

The Doctor grinned. "Excellent idea Tony, let's go."

He blasted the Slitheen with more foam from the fire extinguisher and led us out of the room.

"We need to get to the Cabinet Rooms!" The Doctor shouted back to us from where he was running ahead.

"The emergency protocols are in there, they have strategies for aliens!" Harriet shouted back.

"Harriet Jones I think I like you." The Doctor said happily.

"I think I like you too." Harriet smiled back. I was hopeful I could keep Harriet as Prime Minister so I wouldn't have to worry about The Master taking over.

We all rushed down the halls, the Slitheen right behind us. We managed to get to the Cabinet Rooms, which the Doctor unlocked with his sonic. Wonder if I can get the Doctor to make me one…

We went in and the Doctor rushed around the room looking for something, Harriet went straight for the protocols while Rose and Indra shut the doors. I knew what the Doctor was looking for and handed him the bottle of alcohol.

He went to the doors at the other end of the room and opened them, showing the Slitheen that were metres away. The Doctor quickly got the sonic back out and aimed it at the alcohol.

"One move and my device will triplicate the flammability of this alcohol. WOOMPH, we all go up, so back off!" The Doctor threatened.

The Slitheen froze, obviously taking the threat seriously. Rose, Harriet, Indra and I came to stand behind the Doctor.

The Doctor lowered the alcohol and smiled, although I could see his shoulders were still tense. He wasn't letting his guard down.

"Right then, question time." The Doctor said, still smiling. "Who exactly are the Slitheen?"

"They're aliens." Harriet said quickly, keeping the protocols clutched tightly against her chest.

The Doctor turned round and looked at her. "Yeah I got that, thanks." He said quickly.

"Who are you, if not human?" The lead Slitheen said. Seems they didn't know he was also a Time Lord.

This was a time where the Doctor wasn't as well known amongst most of the smaller races, he could easily pass underneath the notice of most people.

"Who's not human?" Harriet asked.

"He's not human." Rose whispered back to her.

"He's not?" Harriet asked, looking a bit shocked and almost fearful. She had just been attacked by massive green aliens so that could be forgiven. Poor Indra was far out of his element and was keeping quiet so he didn't draw attention.

"Can I have a bit of hush?" The Doctor asked, focused on the Slitheen again.

"Sorry." Rose said.

"So, what's the plan?" The Doctor asked the lead Slitheen. I think he might have been the acting Prime Minister.

"But he's got a northern accent." Harriet interrupted again.

"Lots of planets have a North." Rose said, softly smiling. She was probably remembering her own arguments with the Doctor when they first met.

"Ladies, can you shut up for a bit while the Doctor talks?" I snapped. While it was slightly funny watching it on the show, here it was truly life and death for a whole planet and I wasn't in the mood for the constant back and forth.

Rose and Harriet looked apologetic while the Doctor nodded thankfully at me and then turned his attention back to the Slitheen.

"Come on!" He said, raising the alcohol as a threat. "You've got a spaceship hidden in the North Sea, you've murdered your way to the top for what, invasion?"

"Why would we invade this godforsaken rock?" The Slitheen asked.

"Well something brought the Slitheen race here, what was it?" The Doctor demanded.

There was a slight chuckle from the aliens.

"The Slitheen race? Slitheen is not our species, Slitheen is our surname." They explained.

"Jocrassa Fel Fotch Passimeer-Day Slitheen, at your service." The lead Slitheen said.

"Well at least they're polite." I muttered, getting a quick grin from the Doctor and Rose.

"So you're family?" The Doctor asked.

"A family business." Jocrassa nodded.

The Doctor quickly realised what that meant. "Then you're out to make a profit!" He said quickly. "How can you do that on a 'godforsaken rock'?"

Unfortunately they wouldn't answer as it seemed they had clued on to the Doctors false threat.

"Ah excuse me?" The slitheen on the left of Jocrassa said. "Your device will do what - 'triplicate the flammability'?"

"Is that what I said?" The Doctor asked. I facepalmed hard.

"You're making it up!" They accused him.

"Oh well, nice try. Harriet, have a drink, you're gonna need it." The Doctor said quickly, offering the bottle to Harriet.

"You pass it to the left first." Harriet said. Why that was her main concern I'll never know.

"Sorry." The Doctor said quietly, passing the bottle to Rose who quickly grabbed hold of it.

"Now we can end this hunt…With a slaughter!" Jocrassa shouted.

"Don't you think we should run?" Rose asked the Doctor quickly.

"Fascinating history, Downing Street. 2,000 years ago, this was marshland. 1730, it was occupied by a Mr Chicken, he was a nice man. 1796, this was the Cabinet Room. If the Cabinet's in session and in danger, these are the four safest walls in Britain. End of lesson." He explained, quickly pushing a hidden button on the wall next to the door.

The doors suddenly slammed shut with metal, the windows surrounding the room also getting shut with the same metal. We were completely blocked off from the outside world by sheets of steel.

"Installed in 1991. Three inches of steel lining every single wall. They'll never get in." The Doctor said proudly.

"...and how do we get out?" Rose asked. The Doctor looked at Rose still beaming away.

"...Ah." He said finally.

We all sat around the table watching the Doctor pace the room. We occasionally took sips from the alcohol, which accidentally gave me another perk.

Perk Acquired!

Poison Immunity (Alcohol)

Time Lords are highly resistant to most forms of alcohol. The only known exception is when ginger is added.

Always useful. I do remember this being the part where the Doctor put Indra's body to the side, and yet he is still alive. So why haven't I got EXP for it?

Help

Saving Lives

Lives only count as being saved when they have stopped being in danger. Your current example, Indra Ganesh, is still in danger from the Slitheen and therefore could still die.

Makes sense.

"Right what have we got, any terminals, anything?" The Doctor asked us.

"Nope, this whole place is antique." Rose said, rummaging around cabinets and cupboards. "When they killed the Prime Minister why didn't they just use him as a disguise?" She asked.

"Too slim, these Slitheen, they're big beasts and can only fit inside big humans." The Doctor replied as he went around scanning the windows.

"But the Slitheen are about 8 feet, how are they meant to fit inside us?" Rose asked.

"That's what that device around their neck is for, it shrinks them down a little bit, enough to squeeze inside large humans." I replied. Technology was my expertise so it would make sense that I knew a lot about it. "Of course, when they shrink down they compress, and have to get rid of it somehow. Hence why they constantly fart, it's a gas exchange to make sure they don't blow themselves up." I further explained.

"Wish I had a compression field, I could fit a size smaller." Rose muttered.

"Excuse me, people are dead! This is not the time for jokes." Harriet said reproachfully.

"Sorry, you get used to this sort of stuff when you're friends with him." Rose explained sheepishly, gesturing to the Doctor.

"Well that's a strange friendship." Harriet muttered to Indra. Indra nodded thoughtfully, still holding onto his drink.

"What have you been getting up to out there Doctor?" I asked with a grin. I couldn't wait until I got off this planet and into the Tardis.

The Doctor just grinned and winked at me.

"Harriet Jones I know that name from somewhere." The Doctor muttered under his breath. "You're not famous for anything are you?"

Harriet scoffed with a grin. "Hardly!"

"Rings a bell, Harriet Jones." The Doctor said. I could tell this was gonna bother him until he figured it out.

'Prime Minister maybe? Would make a lot of sense.' I said mentally to the Doctor. He jumped slightly, obviously not expecting the telepathic conversation, before grinning widely at me.

"Lifelong backbencher and a fat lot of good I am now." Harriet said shamefully. "The protocols are redundant, they list the people who could help and they're all dead downstairs."

"No they aren't, most of them managed to escape." The Doctor said, sending a proud look my way.

"How did you manage that then? I don't think the Slitheen were that quick to give up their hunt?" Rose asked curiously.

"Tony here noticed there was an electric tag on my ID card, it was powerful enough to kill any human that was wearing one. I managed to convince most of them that the cards were dangerous and to put them on the floor." The Doctor explained. "Some of them…didn't listen." He said sadly.

A solemn silence followed.

"Doesn't the protocols have nuclear codes, couldn't we just… launch a nuclear bomb at them?" Rose asked after a moment, coming round to stand next to Harriet.

"You're a very violent young woman." Harriet said frankly.

"I'm serious, we could!" Rose said.

"Rose, you do realise that if we launched a nuclear missile it would hit us right, that's where the Slitheen are. Plus the missile would devastate the country and a fair bit of Europe." I pointed out. I had never liked Rose's suggestion of immediate violence but she was still young and I was hopeful that I could help stop what she became in The Stolen Earth.

"There's nothing like that in here anyway." Harriet said, giving me a nod while looking through the protocols. "Nuclear strikes do need a release code yes, but it's kept secret by the United Nations."

The Doctor quickly turned around hearing that. "Say that again." He asked firmly.

"What, about the codes?" Harriet asked, confused.

"Anything, all of it." The Doctor said.

"Well the British Isles can't gain access to atomic weapons without a special resolution from the United Nations." Harriet explained.

"Like that's ever stopped them." Rose scoffed.

"Exactly, given our past record, which I voted against, thank you very much. The codes have been taken out of the government and given to the UN. Is that important?" Harriet asked, turning back to the Doctor who was leaning on the table.

"Everything's important, Tony, can I have a word for a moment?" The Doctor asked me.

I nodded, confused. We both went to a corner of the room while Rose, Harriet and Indra looked curiously over.

"Don't suppose you have any knowledge about what's going on do you?" The Doctor whispered.

"I recognised the ship that crashed, thought it was a coincidence until I saw the Slitheen. It's a Raxacoricofallapatorian ship." I told him. Better the Doctor gets annoyed at me for not telling him than a potential for Jackie and Mickey to get killed.

"Raxacoricofallapatorians. Lovely." The Doctor muttered. He didn't seem annoyed actually…

"I thought you'd be annoyed with me for not telling you when I recognised it." I said cautiously.

"This is your first adventure with me and you're still recovering from the Arch. Just let me know if you know things quicker next time, yeah?" The Doctor said, getting a nod and thankful look from me.

We both walked back over as we heard Harriet say, "If only we knew what the Slitheen wanted. Listen to me, I'm saying Slitheen as if it's a normal word." She scoffed.

"What do they want though, maybe we could bargain with them?" Indra said.

The Doctor stood up and walked round the table, thinking out loud.

"Well it's only one family, so it can't be an invasion. They said it's a family business, they're out to make money, they want to use something on Earth. An asset of some kind."

"Like what, gold? Oil, water?" Harriet listed.

The Doctor grinned at her. "You're quite good at this."

Harriet grinned and looked away shyly. "Thank you."

Suddenly there was a beeping sound. Rose jumped slightly.

"Oops, sorry that was me." She said, pulling out her phone and looking through it.

"How did you get a signal, we're completely cut off?!" Indra said, looking confused and flustered.

"He zapped it." Rose said, pointing at the Doctor. "Super phone."

"Do you zap all the girls Doctor?" I said with a wink, getting a joking glare from him.

"Then we can phone for help! You must have contacts!" Harriet exclaimed.

"Being debriefed by the army and U.N.I.T. yeah, they won't be able to help in time." The Doctor muttered.

"Least they're still alive Doctor, you saved a fair few lives today." I said, not wanting the Doctor to mull over past mistakes.

He nodded gratefully at me while Rose looked at him.

"It's Mickey." She said, staring back down at her phone.

"Oh tell your stupid boyfriend we're busy trying to save the planet." The Doctor said scathingly.

Rose glared lightly. "Yea he's not so stupid after all." She said sharply, showing the Doctor a picture of a Slitheen in Jackie's flat.

I could faintly hear Mickey panicking on the other end of Rose's phone.

"No, no, no, no, no. Not just alien, but like, proper alien. All stinking, wet, and disgusting. And more to the point, it wanted to kill us!" I could hear Mickey shouting. This was only his second encounter with aliens, he wasn't yet the man who saved the universe with a yellow truck.

"I could've died!" I heard Jackie shout.

"Is she alright though? Don't put her on, just tell me." Rose said quickly. She had called Mickey after she showed us all the picture of the Slitheen being electrocuted and was now dealing with a panicked boyfriend.

Suddenly The Doctor appeared behind Rose and plucked the phone out of her hands.

"Rickey is that you? Shut up, don't talk, just go to your computer."

"It's Mickey, and why should I?" I heard Mickey say angrily.

"Mickey the idiot, I might just choke before I finish this sentence but," I could see the Doctor grimacing. "I need you."

I clap mockingly for him. "Well done Doctor, I am so proud(!)" I say, getting a mock glare from him and a giggle from Rose.

I could hear Mickey sitting down at his desk and clicking his mouse. Actually, how am I able to hear him so easily through a phone that isn't even on speaker?

Perk Discovered!

Enhanced Senses

Time Lords have superior senses when compared to humans. All of your senses are two times stronger than humans at their peak.

Well that's nice, but why wasn't that on my original perk screen?

Perks

Only the minimum amount of information was given to ensure you wouldn't die stupidly. You may discover more flaws and perks as they happen! These flaws and perks are still in effect, you just haven't discovered them to know their strengths and weaknesses.

Annoying but understandable. I didn't want my handheld and know everything anyway, I'll just go through everything I know about the Time Lords when I get onboard the TARDIS.

"It says password." I heard Mickey say, dragging my attention back to what was happening. The Doctor had asked Mickey to get onto U.N.I.T.s website.

The Doctor put the phone into a speaker on the table so everyone could hear. "Say again?" He asked.

"It's asking for the password." Mickey repeated, his voice now loud and clear in the room.

"Buffalo, two fs, one l." The Doctor told him.

"So what's that website?" We heard Jackie ask. Poor Jackie, her daughter was gone for a whole year, and the day she comes back is the day aliens invade.

"All the secret information known to mankind, see they've known about aliens for years, they just kept us in the dark." Mickey said dramatically.

"Mickey, you were born in the dark." The Doctor said irritably.

"Oh leave him alone." Rose said sharply, glaring at the Doctor.

"Thank you." Mickey said smugly. "Password again."

"Just repeat it every time." The Doctor said.

"Most secret information known to mankind, and it's hidden behind a single repeating password?" I asked dubiously. It had never made sense.

"It's my password, I'm gonna have to tell the Brigadier when we finish here that it's been used and needs to be replaced." The Doctor explained. I nodded, it made sense that the Doctor had what was basically an admin command into U.N.I.T. considering he had helped them so much over the years. The Doctor started circling the table. "Big Ben, why did the Slitheen hit Big Ben?" He asked us.

We all came round to the side of the table he was on. "You said to gather the experts, to kill them." Harriet said, keeping a tight hold on her drink. I swear that bottle was full and now it's nearly empty…

"That lot would have gathered for a weather balloon. You don't need to crash-land in the middle of London." The Doctor scoffed.

"You would if you were going for spectacle." I piped up. "They were all hiding away but then suddenly their ship crashlands in the Thames? No, they wanted the world to be watching." I further explained.

"Hang on, is that Tony!?" I heard Jackie shout. I wince, I know she won't be very happy hearing I was an alien now.

"Hiya Jackie." I say weakly. I could see the Doctor fighting off a laugh and glared at him.

"What are you doing down there!?" Jackie shouts. When in doubt, rip the plaster off.

"I'm an alien, the same species as the Doctor. I just didn't know it at the time because of a device I was using that hid my species from everyone, even me." I quickly explained.

"You remember that pocket watch I was always fiddling with?" I ask her.

"Oh god yeah, you constantly had it in your hands, or your pocket. Right defensive over it as well." Jackie said.

"Well it turns out, I was IN the watch. My time lord self was in it anyway. I'm still the same person Jackie, I just remember my past and got an extra heart along the way." I joke lightly.

"You and me are having words about this later alright?" Jackie said firmly. I wish this wasn't happening with a live audience, I could practically hear the Doctor laughing in my head.

"Sure thing Jackie, saving the planet first, then an explanation." I say.

"Why would the Slitheen want the entire world on Red Alert, there's only like ten of them." Rose remarked.

"Oh, listen to her(!)" Jackie said rudely.

"Oi, at least I'm trying!" Rose said.

"Well done for trying and all Rose, there's loads of people that would curl up and wait for it to be solved, but you're standing here and trying to help the best you can." I say to her, What can I say, she's growing on me. When she was just a character on a screen and didn't seem to do much I wasn't a fan, now that it's real life I can see that she is actually a brave companion and just wants to help people. Good on you, Rose Tyler.

Rose blushed, but gave me a wide grin.

+10 REP for standing up for her and giving her confidence!

"Well I'VE got a question if you don't mind." Jackie jabbed in. "Since that man walked into our lives, I have been attacked In the streets. I have had creatures from the pits of hell in my own living room, and my daughter disappears off the face of the Earth."

When it sounds like that, I can understand Jackie's reluctance to trust the Doctor. It really did seem like the trouble follows the Doctor, when it's usually the opposite. He tries to save Earth from so much trouble and people only see the end result of death and destruction while he flies away.

"I told you what happened." Rose sighed.

"I'm talking to HIM." Jackie cuts her off. Cos I've seen this life of yours, Doctor. And maybe you get off on it, and maybe you think it's all clever and smart, but you tell me. Just answer me this. Is my daughter safe?"

"I'm fine." Rose said quickly. I turn to look at the Doctor and he's silent, no expression on his face. He just stares at the phone.

"Is she safe!? Will she always be safe, can you please promise me that." Jackie begged.

The Doctor stayed silent, but I decided to throw myself into the firing line for him.

"Jackie, the universe is a scary and deadly place. There are horrors out there not even thought of by humanity, and the chance for danger is so high as to be almost certain." I say. I can feel the disbelieving look coming from Rose, but I wasn't finished explaining.

"However, there is also so much beauty and life out there, so much to see and explore that you could live a thousand lifetimes and still not see even half of what's to offer. Rose wants to explore, to live her life to the fullest. She's got the Doctor and I to keep her safe, and I promise you Jackie Tyler, we will do our best to make sure she always returns home to you."

There was an uncomfortable, solemn silence following my passionate speech. I could see Rose's eyes glistening slightly and the Doctor nodded at me with, not pride, but respect.

Plus 5 REP with The Doctor for your views on the Universe!

Plus 10 REP with Jackie for your promise to protect her only child!

Plus 5 REP with Rose for your promise to protect her!

"We're in." Mickey said, breaking the moment.

The Doctor quickly burst into action. "Now then, on the left at the top, there's a tab, an icon. Little concentric circles, click on that." He said quickly.

"What is it?" Mickey asked. We could hear a signal being sent from somewhere.

"The Slitheen have got a spaceship hidden in the North Sea that's transmitting that signal. Now hush, let me work out what it's saying." The Doctor explained.

"He'll have to answer for himself one day. But, at least Tony promised." Jackie whispered, unknowing that we could still hear her.

"It's some sort of message." The Doctor whispered. It was a constant loop of something.

"What's it say?" Rose asked.

"Don't know, it's on a loop, keeps repeating." The Doctor replies.

"What, like an advert?" I say without thinking. The Doctor quickly turned to me with a bright grin. Before he could say anything though, a harsh buzzing cut through the room.

"Hush!" He shouted.

"That's not me! Jackie, go check who it is." Mickey said.

"It's 3 in the morning though." Jackie whined.

"Well go tell them that then!" Mickey said sharply.

"It's beaming out into space, it must be an advert like you said, well done Tony." The Doctor said proudly. I just shrug.

"It makes sense, Adverts constantly play on a loop on the TV." I say.

Rose gives me a quick grin and holds her hand out for a high five. I quickly give her one, smiling widely. It felt nice, being one of the Tardis Crew.

Suddenly, we heard Jackie panicking.

"They've found us." Mickey said. I could hear he wanted to panic but he kept calm so that he didn't disrupt the signal.

"Mickey I need to know exactly what that signal says and who it's beaming to." The Doctor says. I can tell he doesn't want Jackie and Mickey hurt but he needs to focus on saving the most lives. He's too focused on the greater good.

Fortunately, Rose was still focused on saving her mum and her boyfriend. "Never mind the signal, get out! Mum, Mickey, just get out!" She shouted.

"We can't, it's by the front door." Mickey said quietly. The signal was fading now that they were moving away from it.

We could just barely hear a Slitheen screeching. "Oh my God, it's unmasking, it's gonna kill us." We heard Mickey say. He sounded so scared it was honestly heart wrenching.

"There's got to be some way of stopping them! You're supposed to be the expert, think of something!" Harriet shouted.

"I'm trying!" The Doctor shouted back, pacing around the table.

"I'll take it on Jackie, you just run. Don't look back, just run." Mickey said bravely. Good man.

"That's my mother." Rose said sadly, looking between the Doctor and I.

"Right! If we're gonna find their weaknesses we need to find out what planet they're from. Tony, what ship did you say that was, the one that crashed into the river?" The Doctor shouted, looking hopefully at me.

"It was a Raxacoricofallapatorian ship, I'm 99% positive." I said quickly. I could hear the crashing and screeching from the Slitheen and it was terrifying to think that a woman I honestly thought of as a friend was in danger of being killed by it.

"RAXACORICOFALLAPATORIUS!" The Doctor shouted. "That's fantastic! Mickey, Jackie, get in the kitchen." He said quickly.

We could hear them rushing into the kitchen as the flat door broke down.

"They're made up of living calcium that's weakened by the compression field, acetic acid! Vinegar!" The Doctor shouted down the phone.

"Just like Hannibal!" Indra shouted. We all turned to look at him, and he blushed and kept his eyes down.

"Just like Hannibal!" The Doctor said, grinning like an idiot. "Mickey, have you got any vinegar?"

"How should I know!?" Mickey shouted.

"It's your bloody kitchen!" The Doctor shouted back.

"Cupboard by the sink, middle shelf!" Rose said quickly.

"Well done Mickey, your girlfriend knows your own flat better than you do and she hasn't even seen it in a year." I say with a grin.

"Oh give it here, what do you need?" Jackie said.

"Anything with vinegar!" The Doctor said quickly.

"Oooh, gherkins, pickled onions, ooh pickled eggs!" We heard Jackie list. We all turned to stare at Rose who blushed.

"You kiss this man?" The Doctor and I said at the same time. Rose just glared at us.

We heard the door break down and a screeching roar. There was a fart, then a sudden explosion. We all sighed with relief and dropped into seats.

"...Hannibal?" Rose questioned.

"Hannibal crossed the Alps by dissolving boulders with vinegar." Indra explained.

"History buff?" I asked him. He nodded shyly.

"Just got my masters in it." He explained. Good for him.

"Oh, well there you go then." Rose said, picking up her drink and toasted us all, which we all toasted back. The poor Doctor spat it back when he realised he didn't like the taste.

Question Help section, why did I not get EXP from saving Jackie and Mickey from being killed by a Slitheen?

Help

Saving Lives

You only gain EXP when lives are in True Danger. Your current examples, Mickey Smith and Jackie Tyler, were saved in the original timeline without your input, therefore they were not in True Danger like those already saved.

Oh. I guess that makes sense, if they were saved in the original timeline then they will be saved here, just a bit quicker thanks to me hopefully.

We had just finished our drinks when Mickey suddenly cut in.

"Listen to this." He said, pressing the phone against a TV screen.

"Our inspectors have searched the sky above our heads, and they have found massive weapons of destruction, capable of being deployed within forty five seconds." We heard the lead Slitheen, Joseph Green say.

"What?" The Doctor said, glaring at the phone.

"Our technicians can baffle the alien probes, but not for long. We are facing extinction, unless we strike first! The United Kingdom stands directly beneath the belly of the mother ship. I beg of the United Nations, pass an emergency resolution. Give us the access codes. A nuclear strike at the heart of the beast is our only chance of survival. Because from this moment on, it is my solemn duty to inform you, planet Earth is at war." Joseph finished solemnly. I knew he was an alien and even I was half believing him. He was an amazing actor.

The Doctor shot up and paced. "He's making it up! There's no weapons up there, no threat. He just invented it!" He said angrily.

"Do you think they'll believe him?" Harriet asked quickly.

"They did last time." Rose said cynically.

"That's why the Slitheen went for spectacle. They want the whole world panicking, because you lot, you get scared, you lash out." The Doctor explained.

"They release the defence codes…" Rose followed his train of thought.

"And the Slitheen go nuclear." The Doctor finished with a dark look on his face.

"But why!?" Harriet exclaimed. We had all followed the Doctor to the door from before where he pressed the button allowing the metal sheets to rise up. The Slitheen were standing there waiting.

"You get the codes, release the missiles, but not into space because there's nothing there. You attack every other country on Earth. They retaliate, fight back. World War Three. Whole planet gets nuked." The Doctor explained. His eyes were dark and there wasn't even a hint of a grin. The Oncoming Storm had been unleashed.

While he had been talking Margaret had come to the front, back in her skin suit. She was wearing a harsh grin.

"And we can sit safely in our spaceship waiting in the Thames. Not crashed, just parked. Only two minutes away." She bragged.

"But you'll destroy the planet, this beautiful place. What for?" Harriet asked plaintively.

"Profit. That's what the signal is beaming into space. An advert, Tony got it right first time." The Doctor said. I came up to stand right next to him, patting his arm as a silent show of support.

"The sale of the century. We reduce the Earth to molten slag, then sell it piece by piece. Radioactive chunks, capable of powering every cut-price star liner and budget cargo ship. There's a recession out there, Doctor. People are buying cheap. This rock becomes raw fuel." Margaret said cruelly.

"At the cost of five billion lives." The Doctor said.

Margaret shrugged, it was obvious she couldn't care less. "Bargain."

"I give you a choice. Leave this planet or I'll stop you." The Doctor said darkly. I almost wanted them to take the offer, so that the Doctor didn't have to feel the guilt that would come from killing them.

Margaret laughed with disbelief. "What, you? Trapped in your box?" She asked.

The Doctor didn't even blink. "Yes. Me."

He pressed the button again, closing the shutters while staring dead into the eyes of Margaret. She was still chuckling, but stopped when he didn't do a thing apart from stare.

It was morning. The humans had slept fitfully while the Doctor and I stayed awake and discussed what to do about the Slitheen. We both agreed to stay away from serious topics like the Time War and Gallifrey until the whole crisis was over and we were on the Tardis.

"Alright Doctor, I'm not saying I trust you but there must be something you can do." Jackie said. Mickey had rang up half an hour ago and let us know that the United Nations were debating whether or not to release the access codes.

"If we could ferment the port, we could make acetic acid." Harriet said, going over idea after idea.

"There wouldn't be enough for every alien, and fermenting takes too long. The access codes would have been given long before it's fermented." Indra said hopelessly.

"Mickey, have you had any luck?" Rose asked her boyfriend. She had been putting on a brave face but it was obvious she was still scared.

"There's loads of emergency numbers but they're all on voicemail!" Mickey replied.

"Oh, voicemail dooms us all!" Harriet exclaimed dramatically.

"If we could just get out of here-" Rose started to say before being cut off.

"There's a way out." The Doctor declared. He was leaning against the wall, face looking like it was cut from stone.

"What?" Rose asked in disbelief.

"There's always been a way out." The Doctor repeated.

"Then why don't we use it?" Rose asked.

"It's not exactly the safest way." I pointed out. It really wasn't, it was a miracle that no-one had died when it happened on the show.

"What exactly about this situation screams safety(?)" Rose said sarcastically. I blushed slightly.

"I can't guarantee that you'll all live through this." The Doctor said, cutting through the slight amusement that had built up.

"Don't you dare. Whatever it is, don't you dare!" Jackie's voice rang through the room.

"That's the thing though. If I don't dare, everybody dies." The Doctor retorted. Its moments like these where the facade of the Doctor drops, and an old, tired soldier takes his place.

There was silence for a moment before someone spoke up. "Do it." Rose said, eyes bright with tears but firm in her decision.

The Doctor was shocked for a second. "You don't even know what it is and you'll just let me make that decision?" He asked finally.

Rose just shrugged. "Yeah." She said simply.

"Please, Doctor please. She's my daughter, she's just a kid!" Jackie said tearfully. The poor woman was out of her depth.

"Do you think I don't know that?" The Doctor snapped. "Because this is my life, Jackie. It's not fun, it's not smart, it's just standing up and making a decision because nobody else will."

"Then what're you waiting for?" Rose said. There were tears in her eyes but she spoke firmly, not betraying a single shake of fear.

The Doctor looked at us sadly. "I could save the world but lose you two."

"If you are wanting my permission as well Doctor, you have it. I'd sacrifice all of my lives if it meant the planet was saved." I said quickly. I surprised myself by how much I meant it. My months living among the people of the Powell Estate had given me a fondness for the people living there, there weren't any great acts of good or evil, they were just ordinary people living day to day but they deserved their peace.

Plus 15 REP with the Doctor for your intent to sacrifice yourself for a greater cause!

A short silence followed my declaration before an authoritative voice broke it.

"Except it's not your decision, Doctor. It's mine." Harriet said firmly. She stood, straight backed and proud, like an officer of war.

"And who the hell are you?" Jackie asked loudly.

"Harriet Jones, MP for Flydale North." Harriet recited. "The only elected representative in this room, chosen by the people for the people. And on behalf of the people, I command you. Do it." She ordered the Doctor. I wasn't sure if it was to take the burden off the Doctor in some small way, or if she wanted it on record that it was her who gave the order to end the alien threat.

Either way, the Doctor smiled and moved back to the phone sitting in the speaker.

"So how do we get out?" Rose asked.

"We don't. We stay here." The Doctor said quickly while he rifled through the emergency protocols. "Right Mickey, time to commit treason!" The Doctor said with a massive grin.

"What!" Mickey shouted. I couldn't really blame him there, the conversation did take a massive left turn.

"I need you to hack into the Navy if we want a shot at ending this without nuclear annihilation. Use the buffalo password. It overrides everything." The Doctor informed Mickey.

"What're you doing?" Jackie asked Mickey.

"Hacking into the Royal Navy." He said. He could not sound more worried if he tried. "Oh my God, we're in. Here it is. HMS Taurean, Trafalgar Class submarine, ten miles off the coast of Plymouth."

"Right, we need to select a missile." The Doctor said.

"We can't go nuclear. We don't have the defence codes." Indra said, playing with his glass.

"We don't need it. All we need's an ordinary missile." The Doctor explained.

Oh yeah, just an ordinary weapon of destruction instead of a mass weapon of destruction, no biggie(!) I said, getting a chuckle from Rose and the Doctor.

"What's the first category?" The Doctor asked.

"Sub Harpoon, UGM-A4A." Mickey said.

"That's the one. Select."

"I could stop you." We all heard Jackie whisper. Before anyone spoke up though, Mickey retorted.

"Do it, then."

"You ready for this?" The Doctor asked, giving a concerned look around the room to ask the question to us as well. We all nodded, Rose and I more firmly than the others but we were all ready.

Mickey seemed to take a big breath. "Yeah."

"Mickey the idiot, the world is in your hands." There was a small pause before the Doctor finally said. "Fire."

"Oh, my God." Jackie whimpered, letting us know the button had been pressed.

"How solid are these?" Harriet asked hopefully, patting the steel reinforced walls.

"Not solid enough. Built for short range attack, nothing this big." The Doctor informed her bluntly.

"Can't really blame the past builders for not thinking of protecting against a missile." I said, looking around to Rose as she started to move around.

"All right, now I'm making the decision. I'm not going to die. We're going to ride this one out." Rose said firmly, moving towards a cabinet. "It's like what they say about earthquakes. You can survive them by standing under a door frame. Now, this cupboard's small so it's strong. Come and help me. Come on." Having said her piece, Rose quickly got to work clearing the cupboard, everyone else apart from the Doctor joining her a moment later.

"It's on radar." Mickey said, causing us to move a little quicker with clearing out the cabinet. "Counter defence five five six."

"Stop them from intercepting it." The Doctor ordered.

"I'm doing it now." He said.

"Good boy." The Doctor said happily.

"Five five six neutralised." Mickey said a moment later.

The Doctor unplugged the phone from the speaker and quickly got over to us and the emptied cabinet. It was going to be a tight squeeze for five of us, considering it barely fit just Rose, Harriet and the Doctor in the original timeline, but it would actually be safer with us all in it, as it would hopefully stop us all bouncing around inside if we were packed too tightly to actually move.

We suddenly hear a fire alarm blare through the building. "Oh what now!" Indra said hopelessly.

"It's probably just the security realising there's a missile heading towards them, fire alarm is the quickest way to get everyone out of the building." I said quickly, helping Indra get in.

"Wouldn't that mean the Slitheen are going to escape as well?" Rose asked.

"I don't think they will, they will probably not know what to do. They'd have to get most of them back in their disguises if they haven't already, and they want the nuclear codes to launch the missiles. They have to stay in the room with the phone." I explained.

We hear a muffled gunshot, followed by fading screams. "What was that?!" Harriet asked.

"Probably the security team getting all the press away from the building before it explodes, a gunshot would be the quickest way." I explained further.

"You know a lot about what the humans are doing, don't you Engineer?" The Doctor asked with a quick smile. I nodded with another grin.

We finally all got tucked into the cupboard, packed so tightly it was like a tin of sardines.

"Here we go. Nice knowing you all. Hannibal!" Harriet shouted moments before the missile hit.

BOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM

We all rolled and bounced around in the cupboard, thankfully proving me right that us all being packed in like that would be safer as the most damage anyone got was Indra getting severely motion sick.

The Doctor pushed the steel door off once we finally stopped bouncing around and Harriet stepped out.

"Made in Britain!" Harriet said proudly, tapping the side of the cupboard. I can't blame her, that is some sturdy work.

One of the security team came running up to us while we were all getting out, the Doctor giving Indra a hand and some tablets to hopefully ease the motion sickness.

"Oh my God. Are you all alright?" The security officer asked us.

Harriet didn't waste any time. "Harriet Jones. MP, Flydale North. I want you to contact the UN immediately. Tell the ambassadors the crisis is over. They can step down. Go on, tell the news."

"Yes, ma'am." The officer said with a shocked look on his face.

"Someone's got a hell of a job sorting this lot out." Harriet said, looking around at the destroyed building. Mickey did some good aiming, it was only number 10 that got destroyed, the other buildings on either side were just damaged. "Oh, Lord. We haven't even got a Prime Minister."

"Maybe you should have a go." The Doctor said with a smile. "Take Indra here with you, he seems to know how to do all the secretary work for you."

Indra looked at Harriet and gave a nod and a smile, looking much better now the sickness was gone.

"Me? Huh. I'm only a back-bencher." Harriet scoffed, although I could see a small grin playing on her face at the thought of it.

"I'd vote for you.' Rose said happily.

"Now, don't be silly. Look, I'd better go and see if I can help. Hang on!" Harriet said that last bit to the officer down with all the press.

"Harriet!" I shouted, causing her to pause and look back at me, Indra also making his way over to her. "If you do get the job as Prime Minister, don't let this one experience with aliens cause you to view the rest as the same. There are bad aliens and peaceful aliens just like there are bad humans and peaceful humans. Promise me, you'll give them all a chance." I asked her.

Harriet looked at me for a moment, before nodding firmly. "I can do that, Engineer. And thank you, Time Lord, for protecting the planet. If I become Prime Minister, then you and the Doctor will always be welcome in Britain." She said with a smile, before turning and making her way towards the press.

"How come Harriet knows you are a Time Lord?" The Doctor asked. I blushed slightly, recalling my rather dramatic declaration to keep the Slitheen from hunting the humans.

"Absolutely no reason whatsoever!" I deflected with a grin.

"I'll tell you about it later, Doctor." Rose stage whispered to him, getting a playful glare from me, causing us all to start laughing.

"We're safe! The Earth is safe!" We heard Harriet shout. "Sergeant!"

"I thought I knew the name. Harriet Jones, future Prime Minister. Elected for three successive terms. The architect of Britain's Golden Age." The Doctor explained proudly.

We stood there, listening to Harriet deliver a passionate statement that she had to have just thought up. "The crisis has passed! Ladies and gentlemen, I have something to say to you all here today! Mankind stands tall, proud and undefeated. God bless the human race." She said with a triumphant grin.

We all split up then, Rose going back to her mums so she can get some stuff together she said, the Doctor needed to do some dispersing, so I just went back to my flat.

Nice. I decided to start packing, I don't think I'll be coming back to this flat anytime soon.

I had just finished packing the last of my clothes and throwing them into my Inventory, when someone knocked at my door. Taking a single suitcase out so I didn't cause any confusion with my lack of luggage, I opened the door to see Rose standing there, bag on her back and a wide excited grin on her face.

"Hey! You ready to go, uh, do I call you Tony or Engineer?" Rose questioned.

I grinned myself, excited for the adventure. "The Engineer is my Title, like The Doctor is the Doctor's Title. I'd prefer Engineer but if it's easier for you then you can call me Tony." I explained.

"Tony it is. Come on then, the TARDIS awaits!" Rose said with another grin. I chuckled and followed after her.

Jackie followed after us, we had talked about me becoming an alien and she thankfully understood that I was still her friend Tony, I just was the Engineer as well. She'd even made a joke about me being her Engineer from all the things she'd broken that I had had to fix. Jackie said that she would tell people I was offered a job in Scotland, but that I would come down when I could. I thanked her, and gave her all the money I had, as a gift. It caused her to cry a little and gave me a back breaking hug.

We were just coming up to the TARDIS, Mickey and the Doctor talking, when Jackie spoke up again, trying to persuade Rose not to leave.

"I'll get a proper job. I'll work weekends. I'll pass my test, and if Jim comes round again, I'll say no. I really will." Jackie begged. She was obviously terrified of losing her daughter.

"I'm not leaving because of you. I'm travelling, that's all, and then I'll come back." Rose assured her.

"But it's not safe! Even Tony said that remember!" Jackie said.

"Mum, if you saw it out there you'd never stay home. Besides, Tony promised to protect me, remember?" Rose said, giving her mum a hug.

"Got enough stuff?" The Doctor asked sarcastically.

"Last time I stepped in there, it was spur of the moment. Now I'm signing up. You're stuck with me." Rose said with a cheeky grin. She quickly gave the Doctor her bag and went over to Mickey. "Come with us. There's plenty of room." She said. He looked scared, and quickly gave the Doctor a look.

"No chance. He's a liability, I'm not having him on board." The Doctor said quickly. Rose turned around to face the Doctor, Mickey giving him a thankful look behind her back.

"We'd be dead without him." Rose exclaimed. I had to agree, without Mickey we would never have been able to stop the Slitheen from nuking the entire planet.

"My decision is final." The Doctor declared. Rose turned to me for help, but I just shrugged. "Not my Time Capsule, he's the pilot so what the Doctor said goes." I say apologetically.

Rose turned back to Mickey with a sad look on her face. "Sorry."

Rose kissed Mickey before taking her bag back from the Doctor.

"Good luck, yeah?" Mickey said, getting a soft smile from Rose.

"You still can't promise me. What if she gets lost? What if something happens to you, Doctor, and she's left all alone standing on some moon a million light years away. How long do I have to wait then?" Jackie asked.

"Mum, you're forgetting. It's a time machine. I could go travelling around suns and planets and all the way out to the edge of the universe, and by the time I get back, yeah, ten seconds would have passed. Just ten seconds. So stop worrying. See you in ten seconds' time, yeah?" Rose assured her.

"Well, maybe not 10 seconds. Considering the Doctor apparently mixed up 12 hours and 12 months it would probably be easier to just ring your mum up after an adventure." I said, offering a solution.

Jackie looked over at Rose hopefully who just sighed and nodded with a smile.

The Doctor went into the TARDIS, Rose following soon after. I gave a handshake to Mickey and a hug to Jackie before following them in.

"Right, well I am exhausted from yesterday and today, so I'm gonna go have a kip. Please don't go running off on an adventure till I've woken up Doctor." Rose begged. She did look tired, her eyes were bloodshot and she was almost swaying on her feet.

The Doctor chuckled. "Fine, you go get your sleep, I promise I won't cause an adventure unless it's an emergency."

Rose sighed happily and walked off down the hall, tossing a goodnight to the Doctor and I.

The Doctor turned to me with a sad smile. "So, you wanna talk about the War then?" He asked.

"It's up to you Doctor, the War was hell for me and I wasn't even fighting." I said. It was true, I had apparently stayed as support, fixing up Time Capsules and making the occasional weapon.

"No I…I think I do need to tell you about it. You'll probably despise me but you deserve to know the truth." The Doctor said.
