I do not own Harry Potter, only the OC

Hello guys, Badger here. I'm sorry it's been a while since I posted the first chapter of this story. Having multiple stories going on, makes it difficult to decide which one to update next. Also, I forgot about it. I read the first chapter a few times before writing this one, but I still might have gotten something mixed up or wrong, as that's just me.

Again, I'm sorry for the wait. I hope you enjoy and I will see you at the end.

Chapter 2

His First Hogwarts Experience

Sirius couldn't help but smile, as he watched a five year old Harry, laughing as he flew around on a small broom. As Harry was James Potters son, Sirius had placed cushioning and softening charms on the walls and floors, just in case. It was Harry's fifth birthday and Sirius might've gone a little bit overboard on the gifts this year. Looking around, Sirius took note off the clutter of wrapping paper and about one hundred gifts that were both Magical and Muggle laying all over the place. Okay maybe he did go a little bit overboard. He couldn't help it though. To Sirius, Harry was his son and if Sirius wanted to spoil the boy, he was going to. Whilst Harry flew around the room, Sirius sat down and picked up the latest edition of the Daily Prophet. He sighed at the headline: Hunt for Sirius Black continues!. As Sirius had feared, the public believed he was the one to betray the Potters. Even though they were no longer in Britain, the Ministry of Magic didn't stop the hunt for his head, often raising the amount of Galleons on the bounty. Over the past few years Dumbledore, and a few others who knew of Sirius' innocence, had been looking for Pettigrew but had come up with nothing. As Dumbledore said in one of his letters, 'He seemed to have dropped off the face of the earth'. Sirius believed the traitor was hiding somewhere in his Animagus form, biding his time.

"The fact that his Animagus is a rat, should've been a red flag from the start" Sirius muttered

"Siri" Harry's small voice spoke up "What wrong?"

Sirius smiled, reassuringly, as he looked to Harry, who was now standing on the ground in front of him, looking up at him with those green, innocent eyes.

"Nothing's wrong son" Sirius said, picking Harry up and placing the boy on his lap "I'm just frustrated that people are looking for me"

"Do they think you, bad man?" Harry asked, looking at the newspaper

"I'm afraid so" Sirius sighed "They haven't found the real bad man yet"

"I find bad man for Siri" Harry replied, wrapping his father figure into a tight hug

"I'm sure you will kiddo" Sirius said, returning the hug "I'm sure you will"

Sirius opened his eyes, blinking back tears. It was the day after Harry left for Hogwarts. He was hurt. Being accused of being a Death Eater isn't what hurt him. It wasn't people hunting for him. It wasn't people believing he was the one who would betray someone he viewed as family. What hurt him was that he wasn't able to wave Harry goodbye, as he boarded the train. He almost broke down, when he gave Harry a portkey so he can get to the station. The house had never been so quiet. Sirius had hoped Pettigrew would've been found by now. Despite being a wanted man, he wasn't going to let that stop him. Dumbledore was going to floo call later and the two were going to find a safe place for Sirius to hide out in, near Hogwarts, so Harry can visit him and that Sirius can be sure that Harry was safe. Sirius didn't care about the Ministry or Aurors, he would risk it all, so he can stay close to his godson.

Harry yawned, as he made his way down to the Gryffindor Common Room. He was feeling cranky and he had to stretch his back to undo a tight knot he was feeling. Harry wasn't a morning person, let alone an early riser. Usually he'd sleep until noon, but as today was a Monday, that meant there were going to be lessons. On the first day too. Harry enjoyed learning, but he would have liked to have a few days to relax and get to know the layout of the school before lessons started. Harry sighed slightly, brushing a hand through his hair, before he saw Hermione sitting on the Common Room sofa, a book in hand. She looked up, noticing his arrival.

"Good morning" Hermione said, cheerfully, standing up

"Morning" Harry replied "I thought you'd be at breakfast, with everyone else"

"I wanted to wait for you" Hermione said "I'd rather walk with you, instead of going alone"

"Really?" Harry asked, a small smile on his face, before raising an arm "May I escort you to breakfast, my lady?"

Hermione was slightly startled for a moment, before accepting, a small blush spreading across her face, as the two walked to the Great Hall, arm in arm. The Great Hall was busy, with almost every student awake and eating breakfast, most of which were Ravenclaws. A few students noticed Harry and Hermione walking arm in arm, causing them to whisper and point. Something that made Hermione blush even more, though Harry didn't seem to notice or care. Harry and Hermione had only been sat for a few minutes before McGonagall made her way over.

"Mr Potter, Miss Granger, I'm happy to see you two are here" She said, passing the two of them an envelope "I have your timetables for this year"

"Thank you Professor" Hermione said

Whilst Harry and Hermione were looking through their timetables, the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge entered the Great Hall, along with a few Aurors. His appearance gained everyone's attention, as Fudge spoke to Dumbledore in quiet conversation, before he addressed the students.

"Good students of Hogwarts" Fudge said "Like me, I'm sure you're happy to see Harry Potter here at Hogwarts, as his whereabouts have been unknown for ten years…however, we suggest great caution for all of you, for Sirius Black is still out there…as Black was a servant to You-Know-Who, there is worry in the Ministry that he will reveal himself…but do not worry, he will be captured and put on trial for what he had done"

Harry had to stop himself from laughing out loud. The fact that people believed Sirius to be guilty was ridiculous. Harry noticed Dumbledore looking his way, where the headmaster gave him a discreet wink, causing Harry to nod, a smile on his face. As Fudge continued on his rant, Harry looked around, scanning the Great Hall. Sirius had spoken to Harry about the people he believed will make, not only great friends, but great allies for the future. Susan Bones was one of them. Being the niece of Amelia Bones, the Head of the DMLE, would be beneficial to proving Sirius' innocence and according to Sirius, if Susan has been raised by Amelia, then she will know everything about the law and power, as well as being quite fierce.

Then there was Neville Longbottom and Pansy Parkinson. The Longbottoms have been allies with the Potters, due to a partnership that started between the two families that started centuries ago. Neville would be one of the most loyal friends around. Pansy though, will be a more difficult matter. The Parkinson's and Potters shared a similar partnership as the Longbottoms and the two families were partners in several businesses. However, Pansy was a Slytherin. It will be difficult to find a way to approach her, due to the infamous rivalry between their Houses. The same situation could be said for who Harry just found, sitting and talking to a blonde haired girl. James Badger. Out of all the Magical families in this room, the Badgers were one of the oldest here. They were famous for their family magic and combat wizards and the Badgers and Potters shared a lot of history, which started when a member of the Potters married into the Badgers in the 13th century and, as Sirius informed Harry, he was friends with Malcolm Badger when they were in Hogwarts. However, James was a Slytherin, like Pansy. He will need to find the right opportunity to approach him. Zoning back to reality, just as Fudge was leaving, Harry noticed that Hermione was looking at him, a worried look on her face.

"What is it?" He asked

"The Minister of Magic was talking about Sirius Black" Hermione said "I read about him in a book, he could come after you, aren't you worried?"

"Not particularly" Harry shrugged "It would be stupid for him to try and come after me, whilst I'm in Hogwarts, and if you ask me, I don't think he is guilty"

"Why do say that?" Hermione asked

Harry looked around for a moment, before turning back to her.

"Tell you what" He said "Ask me again after lessons, then I'll tell you"

Hermione frowned slightly, feeling a little annoyed, but nodded. Harry continued eating his breakfast, thinking. He had plans for his time at Hogwarts. It was clear that the adults weren't doing their job in finding Pettigrew. Harry was going to do it himself. He was going to find Pettigrew and clear Sirius' name. Whatever it took.

After breakfast Harry and Hermione walked into their first lesson of the day, Transfiguration, arm in arm, where they sat down in the front row, where a lone cat sat on the desk, overlooking the class. They were only sat for a few minutes before a blond boy in Slytherin robes approached.

"So, Harry Potter, I assume" He said

"That's my name, why, want an autograph?" Harry asked, in an uncaring tone

Harry knew who the boy was. Draco Malfoy. Sirius had told him about the Malfoys, as Narcissa Malfoy is Sirius' cousin. Due to the two families having relations, Narcissa's husband, Lucius Malfoy was in the Black Family tree and the blond boy in front of him had a massive resemblance to the man on the family tree, from the hair, eyes and even down to the posture that demanded respect.

"Hmm, bad enough that you're a Halfblood, but your souring your family name even more by conversing with this Mudblood" The Malfoy heir sneered "Your father already soured the Potter name by marrying that Mudblood you call a mother, seems the Potter name really has fallen"

There was complete silence in the room at Malfoys words. Even some Slytherins looked shocked. Hermione looked confused at what Malfoy was talking about. Harry, meanwhile, his green eyes were blazing with cold fury. Harry stood up from his seat, the fire in his eyes getting brighter, though Malfoy didn't notice.

"There are some things I can tolerate Malfoy" Harry said, his voice low and dangerous "But insulting, not only my friend, but my mother using such a derogatory term, I can never tolerate…especially with a family history such as yours…you see, before your family moved to England in disgrace, your family started when a Squib married a Halfblood, then had a child, who then married a Halfblood, that child then married into a into a large Pureblood family, which resulted in many generations of Malfoys becoming infatuated with power and status, believing their family to be the greatest and their blood the purest, so they removed all history of their origins and even started inbreeding to keep their blood pure…and you say the Potter name has been soured, when the Malfoys already did to their name generations ago, I may be a Halfblood, but my blood is purer then yours"

There were laughs and cheers coming from other students, as Malfoy glared at Harry, slowly turning red in anger. He opened his mouth to respond, but closed it, before he stormed off to a seat far away from Harry. Harry remained where he was, watching him, where he saw James Badger sat at the back, with the same blond girl from breakfasts, leaning back in his chair, looking impressed. Harry then sat back down, where Hermione was looking at him.

"What was that about?" She asked "Was anything you said true?"

"Yes, its true" Harry replied "but believe me, you don't want to know, what he said was derogatory and slander"

Hermione went to respond, when the door swung and two boys ran in. Harry recognised them to be Ron Weasley and Neville Longbottom from the Sorting. Both of them were out of breath, but looked relieved.

"Made it" Ron said "I can't imagine the look on McGonagall's face if we were late"

As soon as the words left his mouth, the cat jumped off of the desk and morphed into a stern faced Professor McGonagall. The action caused all the students in the room to jump, including Harry, having forgotten that Sirius told him that she was an Animagus.

"Care to explain why you are late boy?" She asked

"We…woke up late" Ron said, a little nervous

"YOU woke up late" Neville corrected "I had to go back and wake you up…then we got lost"

"Hmm, I suggest a map, I hope you don't need one to find your seats" McGonagall replied "And Malfoy, 30 points from Slytherin and a weeks of detention with me, for your behaviour towards Muggleborns"

Malfoy growled as McGonagall took her wand out and levitated a matchstick onto every table, one for each student, before instructions appeared on a blackboard behind her.

"Transfiguration, is one of the more complex aspects of magic" McGonagall said "It takes a great deal of skill and patience to use Transfiguration skilfully, especially in combat…however, we won't be practicing more complex spells for a few years yet, like all other great wizards and witches, you will have to start with the basics, but don't be fooled, even simple spells can prove difficult…today you will turn a matchstick into a needle, the incantation is Par Acus, further instructions on the board, I will walk around and monitor your progress and help you if you need it"

All across the room, students removed their wands, where there was muttering of spells, as they tried to turn their match into a needle. Harry closed his eyes for a moment, trying to picture a needle, before he opened them, and said the incantation, waving his wand in the correct movement. It took a couple of tries, but the match soon turned into a needle. He smiled, as he felt the familiar hum of magic that ran through his wand. Beside him, he could see that Hermione seemed to be struggling a little.

"Need some help?" He asked

"Yes please" Hermione nodded

"Okay, close your eyes and picture a needle in your head" Harry said "Visualise everything, and only when you think you've got the perfect picture, open your eyes and try again"

Harry watched as Hermione did as he said, her head tilting slightly as she tried to see a needle in her mind. After another moment, she opened her eyes and tried the spell again. This time, the match slowly became a needle. Hermione smiled brightly and even gave Harry a small hug.

"Well done, Mr Potter, Miss Granger" McGonagall said, who watched them preform the spells "Take 10 points each"

"Thank you, professor" Harry smiled

McGonagall gave a rare smile back as she sat down at her desk. For many years she imagined what kind of student Harry will be. She knew that Sirius was innocent and when Dumbledore told her that Sirius had taken Harry to a safe, unknown location, she was worried that Harry will become a mini-Sirius. However, she could now breath easy. Whilst Harry had the same posture and walk as Sirius, he was a mix of James and Lily Potter. Harry had the charm and talent as his father, but also had the kindness and intelligence of his mother. She had watched Harry help Hermione and she found his way of Transfiguration intriguing. She had never seen anyone visualise an object for Transfiguration, though she wondered how effective it was and would definitely need to test it in future classes. However, though Harry had the best of both his parents, he also seemed to have both of their tempers, if the confrontation with Malfoy was anything to go by. She was going to have to talk to both Snape and Dumbledore about this.

Elsewhere in the castle, Dumbledore stood in front of a large golden mirror. The Mirror of Erised. It took a lot of effort to get the mirror inside the castle. Hagrid had brought him the Philosophers Stone. It won't be long until Voldemort realises its here, so they will need to set up the necessary defences quickly, something he'll talk to the Head of Houses about in the first meeting of the year. After Hagrid gave him the stone, Dumbledore immediately came to the Mirror, just to think. At first, he saw his family staring back at him, but it soon changed. Dumbledore was standing there, but beside him stood a young man, who seemed to be in his mid-twenties, wearing elegant robes. The scar on his forehead told him who it was. Harry Potter. The boy who Dumbledore planned to be his heir and the next Leader of the Light. A man that everyone will look up too. When the first school meeting starts, Dumbledore hoped to find out what Harry's strength and weaknesses were, so he can make the necessary plans to begin training the boy. All in good time.

Second chapter done. Was it worth the wait?

I hope you enjoyed the memory at the beginning of the chapter. If you remember, in the first chapter I said, instead of showing Harry's life growing up across multiple chapters before starting Hogwarts, there will be a sprinkle of memories throughout the story. I thought it would make a good start to this chapter. Also, it took quite a bit of time to name this chapter. As my first story was called 'A different Hogwarts experience', I wanted some kind of tribute to it in the title. I know it's probably a shit title but I couldn't think of anything else.

Now, I'm going to rant a bit. I am doing something different with Hermione in this story. Is it just me who found it odd that Hermione was immediately a prodigy in magic? I mean, she's only known that she is a witch for a short amount of time and she's not been able to practice magic at home before, because underage magic laws. So why can she preform spells flawlessly? Because of this, Hermione will have flaws in this story, but will grow and adapt, earning the title 'Brightest Witch of the age'. Until then, she will have flaws.

Anyway, rant over. Before we end, I have a plan for a new story, thanks to a request from Bearticguy7. They asked for a story where Harry has a split personality, where one is his usual self and the other is a violent, dangerous person. I don't have a name yet, but I have a few plans, so keep an eye out for new stories. Remember, if you have a story request, feel free to PM me. It can be anything.

That is all for, I hope you enjoyed and I will see you next time.

Badger out.
