Well that took significantly longer than it probably should have! Well it's another chapter to put in the story regardless. Thank you to all who have followed the story so far, and I hope you all continue to do so. Without further ado… let's start chapter 3!
Location: Unknown
Time: Unknown
POV: Unknown
I swear the pain never went away… it felt like forever but at the same time it also seemed like no time passed at all.
It was just me and my thoughts. They were cold, empty, and uncertain just like the area surrounding me.
Is this what it feels like? To be truly alone with no one to help?
I'm pathetic… I swear I'm never going to do anything right. Hell, I had no clue where I even was. All I remember was that after she sto…
Her. She brought me here. Now I remember!
Where am I even? It's just… dark. Could I even move?
Am I dead? Why am I starting to think about all of this now?
It's like I'm gaining… consciousness! I'm alive… I think?
As if a force guided me forward, I could finally feel myself slicing through the darkness. Slowly, but surely.
I could see a strange bit of light in the distance… is that reality? Is that where I needed to go? A feeling of dread washed over me as I approached closer and closer. Why does it feel… so wrong? It's like my body is telling me to not get any closer as I'm pulled in more and more.
Before I knew it… I was enveloped in light.
As fast as it came, it turned back into a dark room with a pedestal in the middle. It seemed like a large circle, and nothing was seemingly there. At least I could walk now.
I slowly approached the pedestal before a smooth masculine voice greeted me seemingly from the darkness.
''Hello little one~'' I could hear it clearing its voice. ''Welcome to your new home! I will be the one who will show you where to go so you can live the rest of your life in peace.''
Okay. Now I was really confused. Secondly, who the hell was talking..? I guess this being could tell me where I was.I hesitated, but asked anyway. ''Alright, if you don't mind me asking… where am I, and who are you?''
The being let out a light chuckle. ''I don't like showing most Pokémon my form as it lets them know exactly that.'' His voiced joy disappeared before it grew a little more ominous. ''It has to be done though, denial is such a grim and terrible thing.''
Before I knew it, all of the darkness in the room swirled and collected into a small orb above the pedestal before exploding. I couldn't cover my eyes in time and felt like I was blind yet again. As I opened them back up, my eyes looked up in sheer horror. A black and red beast hovered above me, its 3 segments met in a 'Y' formation with blue eyes that could destroy any dream just by looking in them alone.
I stuttered hard. I didn't even know what to say besides its name, terror over took me. ''Y-Y-Yveltal…''
The being just spun in the air before landing on the ground next to me. It towered over me, as it locked its deep blue eyes with mine. Its mouth was very neutral in this whole interaction, but the voice was quieter than before. ''That would be correct. I am Yveltal, the god of destruction and the being that is the start of the end.'' It crossed its wings after that last statement. ''At least that's what you Pokémon seem to think of me as. In reality, I am not really the envoy of destruction, much less as I am the grim reaper in a sense.''
My mind went upside down, and then fell back down the wrong way. Did a literal god just say they were something they were not to us? ''You are real right?'' I wasn't expecting the response that was about to follow.
Out of nowhere, the two tone Pokémon roared out in laughter and the whole room started shaking as a result. He stopped after a few seconds and bent down to meet me eye to eye. ''Little absol, you are in purgatory. You are dead. Yes, this is real. I am the keeper of this domain.'' He then stood back upright before speaking again. ''Just because you made me laugh, I'll listen to you for a little bit. I can 'technically' be everywhere in purgatory all at once, but it's odd seeing someone ask that question. Most know they are dead. You literally are informed that you are here once you arrive. Hell, most Pokémon don't come here… it's a straight shot to Arceus or Giratina.'' It glanced at me up and down after it said it's choice of words. ''Now that I'm actually thinking about it, how did you die?''
The legendary Pokémon was confused before a void popped out of nowhere, much like Magnus'. A book seemingly fell out and it was caught by Yveltal. ''Ah, here it is.'' It opened the book and spoke to me without looking down even once. ''Name?''
I was caught off guard trying to process the new information, and ended up stuttering. ''Eclipse. As you already know, I'm an a-absol.''
The Yveltal glared down at me before going back to its book. It sifted a few pages, and minutes or hours went by before the demon shut it loudly. ''Alright… We have a problem.''
I leaned into the conversation, hoping I would actually get an answer that I wanted to hear. ''Wait, there is a problem?''
The Yveltal sighed after my statement growing slightly annoying. ''Well, if you would stop parroting and let me finish I would tell you that your soul is missing. It's not here. So something or someone has it, and that really narrows down the level of possibilities...''
My SOUL was missing? What the hell did I get myself into…
The black and crimson Pokémon leaned over me. ''Did you know any fairy types by chance?''
Fairy types? I really knew nothing about them, and in general they were very recently discovered. I know of a few Pokémon that were confirmed to be fairy types like Clefable and Togetic, but both of those Pokémon are incredibly rare in general. At least that's what my dad told me, I'm yet to see any and I probably never will considering the predicament I'm in. ''No. I've never bumped into any fairy type that I know of personally.''
The being scratched its chin slightly, before snapping the fingers on one of its wings and a few pieces of paper materialized in the air before floating haphazardly. ''Alright, I'm gonna need to use your body as weird as that sounds.''
I was taken aback at the sudden interest in taking over my body. ''Do I get a say in this?''
The black demon chuckled and without missing a beat continued with his prospect. ''Either you A, pick a life of living in purgatory for all of eternity, which sounds lovely… or you B, choose to let my assistant use you to allow for you to search for your soul. You will have your own free will with no catches, but will let me have complete control if you decide to use your mega form.'' As the Pokémon finished, it turned around and flew back to the altar, landing behind it before swinging back. ''Oh! The only thing is that you must do as I say, and if I tell you that you need to do something… you will do it unless you want to be a lifeless husk.'' Yveltal put on a deceitful smile. ''Is that clear?''
No. Absolutely not. I wasn't comfortable with this in the slightest. Would Yveltal be able to read my mind? Would it control me to do things that I didn't want? I care about my free will, and if I go back will I be at least be able to save other Pokémon including my dad? Would it be possible to get stronger?
There were too many questions about this!
Just before I could speak the black beast just sighed before speaking. ''I know everything about you, Eclipse. I am the gatekeeper of death. It's my job. I will allow you to be 'alive' for a finite amount of time, but you will be allowed to do anything you want unless I command it.''
I guess that was a little better? I still wasn't comfortable with this… and who the hell was the assistant?
As if he could read my mind, a purple fire ignited the whole room and loud witch-like laughter echoed through the chamber. Yveltal was growing annoyed. ''Chandy, don't make a scene. You have something to do for me.''
As if on cue, all of the fire retracted from a lightning pace into a singular orb. In the center was a glass orb with two beady yellow eyes and a large purple flame coming off of its head. Around it were two black metal arms that held up several more flames that seemed like they could be ignited and extinguished on command. It was a moving chandelier. That was the gist of it. It's voice was surprisingly high pitched, and definitely sounded very mischievous to my dismay.
The ghostly Pokémon just bowed in front of Yveltal. ''Yes, Master Yveltal! Now who is the 'thing' that I need to escort?''
I already dislike this house decoration.
Seemingly out of nowhere, 6 purple flames started dancing around me on the floor causing me to sweat immediately. The pissed off house decoration wasn't exactly too happy either considering it was floating over me. ''You do know that we can hear your every thought? Has that not crossed your mortal brain yet?''
I won't lie, I was definitely embarrassed by that comment and I really should've thought about it more when Yveltal made several actions before. I guess I was stuck in this situation. ''Alright. I guess I'm agreeing to all of this. Where do I go and what do I need to do?''
Yveltal gladly clapped its two 'hands' together and loudly proclaimed. ''Splendid! That next part is rather easy actually! You don't have a left eye, so that makes it easy to hide an oversoul, and you need to be mindful that certain things are off limits.''
The beast said there wasn't a catch. What gives? ''What are the terms and conditions… I guess.''
The black legendary pulled out a small booklet from mid air, and threw it on the ground in front of me. ''You have 5 main rules. At least for your sake.'' The legend cleared its throat before continuing.
You will not mention to anyone or anything that you have an oversoul besides your main protector, and you will hide your eye as much as you can. An eyepatch will not be provided so make sure you find something quick. Oh, and pick your protector very carefully because they will be briefed on all of this mentally when they say the words… 'I accept Yveltal.'.
You will not have ANY contact with ANY fairy type if you can help it. If you are in close contact with one, please be mindful. They can literally read your soul, and that is one of the fairy types main abilities. This is honestly dangerous and can lead into some very sketchy situations.
Relationships. This is a given. You will be coming back to me eventually, so please try not to be in any. I cannot monitor you 24/7, that is the point of Chandy, my wonderful assistant. She is made out of millions of souls. You can go around… fornicating I guess… but try not to get attached.
I am your master now. I will be addressed as such. If you are obedient I will extend your lifeline as much as I can as you don't seem like a bad kid. Don't let it go to your head though.
If something needs to get done… YOU WILL DO IT. This is the most important rule. Fuck the others at this point, if I command something you will drop everything and do it. This will either be for soul hunting for yourself, or another Pokémon that wasn't as lucky as you. It also could be for the idea that you need critically vital information.
The Yveltal sighed as if it said a variant of these rules a 100 times. ''Now that I've said everything to you and told you all of the rules, do you accept?''
Honestly, the rules weren't that bad. I thought they would be 10x worse. ''I accept Master Yveltal.''
A small smile washed over its face. ''This is going to work wonderfully! I have a good feeling about this!'' The huge Pokémon then looked over at Chandelure. ''Chandy, you take care of the rest.''
The giant lamp fixture just happily replied. ''Yes, Master Yveltal!''
As soon as the ghost type made the statement, a huge black hole opened up in the middle of the room before Yveletal seemingly disappeared leaving just me and Chandy. ''Alright, so now what?''
She looked over my body before responding to me. ''Alright inferior dark type… close your eyes and get ready for the pain of your life!''
I was honestly confused by that statement before I felt like I was being ripped apart on the inside by something that was trying to force its way out. It felt like I was having a seizure… I couldn't even control my own body. Seemingly after 20 seconds of pain… it suddenly stopped and the ghost type was no longer in front of me. Before I could question what was happening, I heard an echo that seemed to be right next to my ear.
Her laughing was the only thing I could hear, it sounded close and far away at the same time. Frightening was an understatement. ''I guess you can hear me pooch. Get used to this cause this is how I will communicate with you. I probably won't say much but I will be constantly monitoring your surroundings. Do something stupid, and I have the ability to mess with you. Cool? Cool. Now, head over to the middle of the room. That is our way out.''
As much as I wanted to ask a million questions, I probably had all the time in the world later on considering this was my life now so I complied and slowly walked towards the center of the room. It felt like I was being attracted towards it the closer I approached, kinda like a primal urge. Even if I wanted to, I don't think I could turn my back to it. As I finally reached the center, everything went white again.
The hell? This was just like when I first arrived! What gives!
Chandy immediately read my thoughts and just sighed. ''Give it a minute. Bringing an inanimate body back to life isn't exactly easy you fool.''
I just internally sighed and sat down, waiting for the lamp to do its thing.
After a minute of waiting, the chandelure pinged me internally. ''You are going to need to wait again, I'm gonna scope the surroundings of the real world. Who do you want to wait on anyway?''
I had to think about this for a second. Who could I trust? I knew Nockt, and he was super nice… and then there was Myra and Noctrine. I guess either of those 3? The problem is I feel like they wouldn't know what to do. Magnus seems like a great choice. He's known me for years and I guarantee he has experience with this. It's gotta be him. ''Magnus. He's a sableye.''
Chandy started mumbling the word sableye several times before scanning the room. ''Zoroark. That's what's in the area. You are not in the guild that I saw in your memories.''
Ah crap. Well, this just got 80x more interesting. Azrin probably would not be the best of choices but there had to be a reason that I wasn't in the guild. I had to ask Chandy how much she knew. ''How much of my memories did you see?''
The chandelure seemed hesitant to tell me anything but proceeded anyway. ''Well, I can't see names but I can see events and places. Not all of them, but some. I'm not supposed to tell you this, but we don't know everything about you. Just individual traits. That's all.''
I wanted to flip out and start yelling but that wasn't going to do any good. ''So Yveltal was lying about that?''
The chandelure admitted some of the fine details. ''We are gonna be together for a while, might as well tell some truths to this all. It'll keep us both alive. Anyway, I'm gonna wake you up. This 'Azrin' person doesn't seem to be who you want, but she does seem trustworthy for a dark type… shockingly.''
As I started to protest, I instantly woke up gasping. Checking my surroundings I realized that I was in a forest. The forest was not super dense, but there was fog surrounding us on all sides. I would say that I could barely make out Azrin. She was just relaxing against a tree, her arms behind her head leaning back. I remember her snarky voice like it was yesterday. It pretty much was exactly what I remembered.
She pushed herself off the tree and made her way over to me. ''Fuck, I thought you were dead! I was going to bury you out here.''
What a wonderful way to get introduced back into the world. I wake up, and I'm already next to the Pokémon I dislike the most. ''Thanks. I always wanted to be buried in the middle of a forest.''
The zoroark just snorted at the sarcastic comment. ''I must ask though, what's with the purple eye kid? I know that's not normal and I feel like you are not disclosing something that is pretty fucking important. Spit it out.''
The chandelure chimed in my head as she finished her statement. ''She's got a point you know.''
Ugh. Guess I really had no choice, this Pokémon could easily kill me… again. ''Fine, you just need to say a phrase and apparently you'll know everything.''
Azrin simply crossed her arms. ''What's the phrase then? I'm 'dying' to know.''
I hate this Pokémon more than anything I swear. ''I accept Yveltal.''
Nothing happened to me, thankfully. I didn't want any more stipulations to my already existing contract. Azrin's face was actually blank which was odd. It's like she knew exactly what was happening. Before I could follow up, she said something well ahead of me. ''Oversoul. So you actually did die, and now I need to find out why. Great.''
How much did she even know? Even Chandy was extremely confused. ''Interesting that a mortal knows what an oversoul is. I guess our influence has been talked about before.''
I mentally talked to the ghostly lamp hoping to pry some much needed information. ''Does this still break the first rule if I say something?''
The chandelure answered in a matter of confusion. ''Uh, I'm not exactly sure. She seems to understand things well ahead of you saying anything or doing anything so I don't see any rules being broken.''
The zoroark glared at me before continuing what she was saying. ''I don't need to utter the phrase as I know what's going on. If you have an oversoul, it means that you are searching for your actual one before going back.'' She kneeled down to my level, and had a softer voice than usual. ''I promise I wasn't the one who killed you, but I'll figure out who. In the meantime, I'm going to send you off somewhere so that no one knows that you are even alive. If they do find out you better fight for your life, kid. If they were smart enough to get you undetected I guarantee it will happen again. Stay here and give me an hour. I'll get you a way to the air continent and something to cover up that… eye.''
I couldn't even respond. She was actually being helpful and it left me speechless. This is the first time she wasn't an absolute psychopath. What caused the change? I just nodded and sat down as there was really nothing I could do. ''Chandy, is there any way you could have analyzed that situation?''
Chandy seemed to understand what was going on to a degree. ''Well, she obviously knew more than most mortals should. My whole thought process was that she wants you to get stronger. No point doing something when you can't accomplish the task I guess.'' She took some more mental notes. ''I'll relay what's going on to Master Yveltal. I won't be available for around 30 minutes, so don't die.''
I laughed at the comment. ''What the hell was going to kill me in this forest? The most dangerous beast literally just left and went back to town.''
I was expecting to hear a quip back but was met with silence. Man, this seems all too familiar to that feeling I got the first time I entered Yveltal's domain. I got a chance to look around in my surroundings and wow was this fog thick. I looked up and I could barely see halfway up the trees. Sunlight seemed to be hitting the fog due its lighter color so the forest couldn't be as dense as I once thought. The grass wasn't really grass, it was just really mossy dirt that seemed to litter the ground all around me and the air had a very light and fresh scent of morning dew. The smell reminded me of home.
After a few minutes, I got bored of exploring. There really wasn't anything else interesting around me and everything was coated in a stillness that made it seemed like time stopped. I sighed and sat down waiting for the crazy zoroark to come back.
After a small period of time, I could hear a slight hum coming from my thoughts. I panicked, and started to think I was going crazy after the sudden surge of sounds flooded me. They just seemed to get louder and louder, and at a certain point they just stopped. The chilling laughter of the maniacal chandelure was the only thing I heard and that is when it dawned that this was going to suck.
Her voice was just as witchy as normal, and then the high pitch rang like a bell. ''You know, you should be grateful Master Yveltal said that this was the best plan as well. You being dead is not good for business honestly.''
I was honestly surprised that the destruction pokemon even allowed for us to take a massive detour like this. ''So, we are going to the Air Continent?''
For some reason… I could tell the Chandelure was nodding. It was almost like I was actually growing some form of connection that allowed me to sense actions. ''Don't make me repeat myself.''
This pokemon was almost as bad as Azrin…
Just as I was about to hear the flaming of my life, I could hear footsteps approaching rapidly. They were heavy though. Why were they heavy?
My train of thoughts were cut by Chandy alerting me. ''You need to get out of here fast! There is a very large Pokémon approaching! Run South, and then I will scan the area as you are running!''
As she instructed, I immediately began sprinting in the opposite direction. As I did so, I noticed that the trees began to fall over, causing loud crashes as they tumbled over carelessly. Whoa! That's a lot of strength!
I bobbed and weaved through the trees, waiting for the ghost to speak to me, but I was continually answered by silence. My heart raced faster with each stroke of anxiety that plagued me as the sounds grew closer and closer every few seconds. ''I would appreciate it if you could hurry up and do something useful for me once in a while!''
Suddenly the Chandelure huffed and got annoyed, and the fire that was on her engulfed her igniting several purple flames in random spots in my mind. ''You want me to be useful? Then give me your body, mortal scum!''
All of the sudden I could feel my body changing in all kinds of ways, before my consciousness just seemingly went to the sideline. Somehow I knew I wasn't in complete control anymore, and by the second that 'control' I had was slowly dimming. I still could feel, but for some reason it just didn't feel like my body anymore. Seemingly in an instant I felt my body morphing into something distant and foreign. My fur felt like it was getting longer and my back felt like it was being ripped apart. The last motion was my horn repositioning itself before everything stopped.
The demonic chandelure cackled as she knew got her way. She knowingly mocked me as I was dwindling in the back of my own mind. ''I will use your body better than you ever could! This is your mega form, but honestly you'll never be good enough to use it… so allow me!''
I wanted to retaliate with words of anger but for some reason my words couldn't even come out. What gives!? Before I could even collect the thoughts of what I was doing, my body launched forward. The ground underneath me just exploded from the sheer force as the recoil immediately launched back into my legs.
When did I ever have this much strength!? I felt as if it could dismantle me in a matter of seconds! As I charged forward at an insane speed, my body darted between the trees before approaching the sound that plagued the area around me previously. At that very moment, I came to a complete stop and looked up, only to see a 14 foot tall Ursaring staring back at me with its teeth showing, ready to tear me apart at a moment's notice.
To my horror, the chandelure just laughed before seemingly passing through the Ursaring without hesitation. I didn't even feel my front paws even move but they were already soaked in a large amount of blood. My white fur immediately disappeared and was replaced by a dark crimson. After a few seconds, the frozen Ursaring suddenly collapsed into two segments, a gruesome amount of carnage emerging from its now sliced abdomen.
The smell of it made me want to gag but my body stood still and lifeless without emotion. Chandy was looking around with it to make sure that the job was done and suddenly a realization hit her. ''Well, that's interesting. There was a possibility that I may have violated a term of my contract with Master Yveltal.'' I could feel her shrug as if it were not a big deal, but for some reason this felt like it was pretty important to me. ''My power was always a problem for Master Yveltal according to him. The reason for this is now evident to me. Therefore, I would like to make you an offer... I would like to give you one free mishap for anything you do, and I would like to give you another if you do not let anything slip to Master. Understood?''
It was very tempting. That gave me a pass on almost everything. Okay, first things first... I'm locking this thing out of my mega form. THAT was just too brutal. Despite its awesome power, I don't want it to be abused. ''Chandy. I'll use the first offer to have 100% access to my Mega form. I don't want you using it anymore. Or even Yvel… I mean Master Yveltal.'' I winced as I almost broke part of the contract myself.
With a flash of purple fire, the Chandelure warped back into my mind before looking at me unamused. ''Mortal. That would be an extremely difficult wish to grant, and you should be aware that it will leave you in a much more dangerous position than you were in previously. If I do this, I will no longer be able to save you. Is that perfectly acceptable?''
I honestly really didn't think about that… but if I could harness the power I probably would have no issues defending myself. I can do this! I know I can. I just don't know what to do with the other offer. Maybe I could do something down the line, but we'll see. ''Yeah, that would be fine.''
Instantly I gained control of my emotionless body and felt the strain of it immediately. The sheer power… it's so hard to keep myself afloat! What gives? How much strength do I need to actually utilize this? As soon as the thought came in, I could feel all of the power fading away in waves. Each passing second resulted in me getting weaker and weaker before my body morphed back to normal. Well, that wasn't exactly comfortable at all… but it means that I have a long way to go.
Suddenly my legs collapsed underneath me and my body plummeted to the ground. ''Oww…''
Before I could get a chance to even try to move again, I was lifted up by something with dark gray fur. ''What the fuck kid. I leave for a little more then an hour and you fucking trashed the place… ugh let's just get a move on.''
I wanted to retort but I genuinely couldn't move. Well I guess this is the full capabilities of using a mega form… I should only use it in desperate situations.
As I was being carried by Azrin I could feel myself passing out. I knew this day was about to finally come to an end… but I'm pretty sure my adventure was just beginning.
