The Dark Side of the Moon
Chapter One
The sun loomed over Camp half blood while fluffy white clouds slowly sailed across the sky. It was just a typical day at camp. Kids and teens yawned as they dragged themselves out of their cabins. Some would skip breakfast and head straight to the grounds, while others marched right over to the food tents for a nice warm meal to start off the day. Yet which ever they choose, everyone kept looking behind them, for they couldn't help but feel as they were being watched.
In Big house Chiron set a stack of papers to the side when a chill ran down his spine. He had two things on his mind right now, and one was overpowering the other. His mind wandered back to the hill where Selene and he were supposed to have dinner. He regretted not make it on time that night. He had some last paper minute paperwork to do. But when he was done, he rushed right over there. Only to see glasses and wine, even blanket and basket holding her famous tuna sandwich. But She was nowhere in sight.
Even now, as a few days have passed, Selene has yet to show up. A sigh escaped Chiron as he set another stack of papers on his desk. From the constant complaints of people being watched to the mysterious shaking bushes on the pathways. Something was going on here and the twist and turns in his stomach told him so. Like it or not, he had to push his worries of Selene aside for now and work on the task at hand.
"Please be okay wherever you are⦠Selene."
Elsewhere in the camp Percy rubbed his belly as he walked toward, he training grounds. He had finished two plates of eggs and bacon and couldn't wait to get to the grounds to meet up with Annabeth and Grover. As he let his mind wander, he looked around as well. His eyes kept looking at the bushes on the path. He thought it was odd for them to be shaking so much without a gust of wind in the sky.
Shaking his head, Percy chalked it up to some of the other playing a prank on him, but he stopped dead in his racks when he heard a growl. Reaching in his pocket, Percy pulled out his pen from his pocket. For all the surrounding bushes were shaking nonstop. His stomach churned as he click the top of his pen. The moment his pen morphed into his sword, two shadow figure jumped out of the bushes. Wearing all black and growling with their fangs, showing the two circled around Percy. Keeping his eyes on both of them the moment they pounced, he jumped out of the way.
"Okay, then looks like you two will have to help me work off my breakfast."
Meanwhile, waiting at the Training ground, Grover and Annabeth looked around for Percy. Annabeth thought she would spot him by now practicing with a few of the sword wielding sons of Ares. Yet he was nowhere in sight.
"Where is he?" Annabeth asked a loud.
"he said he was on his way here," Grover said, showing Annabeth the text.
Glancing at the text, then back at the pathway toward the grounds. Annabeth took off running. She couldn't explain it, but she knew something wasn't right. Grover simply followed right behind her, not saying a word.
Seeing the two of them running off toward the path, Dionysus would of normally let them think nothing of it. But with everything that had been going on, he couldn't leave it to chance, so he followed them.
Meanwhile, on the path, Percy slashed one of the fanged creatures across the chest while kicking the other in the chest and rammed him through with his blade. Pulling out his sword, both creatures dropped to the ground. Job well done, he thought as he flicked the blood off his sword. He turned to leave when he heard the growling again. Turning around, there stood the creatures. Percy's eyes narrowed as he looked at the chest to the see the slash marks he made disappear along with the stab wound he made. To make matters worst a few more creatures jumped out of the bushes. A dark smoke formed in their hands forming into swords.
"Crap, that isn't good." Percy mumbled to himself.
The creatures ran toward Percy as he charged at them. Blocking, dodging and loading a few slashes, nothing seems to affect these things. He even aimed for those throats, only for it to heal back up. While he was holding his own, matching them blow for blow, he couldn't seem to stop them. He was at a lost of what to do. He couldn't. run, he had to fight, but how could he stop these things?
Backing up, Percy took a deep breath as the dozens of creatures charged toward him, only someone in white to jump over him. He watched as they slashed the sword in the creature's hand, followed by a stab in the gut, causing the creature to disappear. Nodding, Percy jumped in after a few moments. The creatures disappeared in puffs of smoke, much to Percy's delight.
"Thanks for the help. I thought they would never stop," Percy said.
"Don't mention it. Demon fiends are always hard to deal with the first time around. I'm Celeste, by the way."
"I am Percy, so what..." Percy trailed off
"What am I doing here?" Celeste asked, finishing his question.
Percy nodded, but before Celeste could speak, a fist punched her in the jaw. Stumbling backwards, Percy stood in front of her as Annabeth and Grover stood a few inches away from them.
"Who is she?!" Annabeth shouted as she glared at the woman.
"Her name is Celeste. She helped me out," Percy said.
Looking the woman up and down from her sliver white shirt and blue jeans that hugged her hips to her black boots, and sword strapped across her back, Annabeth wasn't sold on her being an ally. While Grover simply extend his hand out to her.
"Sorry about that Annabeth has trust issues. My name is Grover. I'm Percy's protector." Grover said.
"It's alright." Celeste said, shaking his hand. "From the way she is looking at me, I can tell she is a child, Athena. As for you, I take it you know Dionysus."
"Yeah, "Grover said.
Celeste simply smiled as she looked behind Both Annabeth and Grover at who stood behind them.
"Well, hello there," Celeste said, followed with a smile.
The teens looked to Dionysus, who walked out from behind Annabeth and Grover.
"What are you doing here?"Dionysus said to Celeste.
"Nice to see you too," Celeste said.
"You didn't answer my question," Dionysus said.
Celeste scoffed as she step aside, revealing a black mist behind her. "I came to visit Chiron until a putrid odor caught my attention. Then I saw this mist. Where does this path lead to?"
"To the center of camp."
Unsheathing her sword, Celeste's eyes flickered as her sword gave off a white glow.
"Then you need to warn the others, don't you think?"
Nodding, Dionysus took off with Percy, Annabeth, and Grover right behind him. Taking a deep breath, Celeste sighed as the mist crept closer and closer.
"What a way to start the day."
