Author's Note: Nothing much to say this week other than enjoy the fanfic.

The song featured here is basically the Ezekiel Tugbottom song and its reprise from the actual show. I wanted to make a parody song sung by Ezekiel, but I didn't have the stomach for it.

Any and all comments are welcome.

Narrator:

Listen to the story I'm about to tell

About a man from Brighton they know so well

He was big and strong, but never mean

He got his biceps from a turnip green

Once a tornado was heading towards town

Ezekiel threw his lasso and wrestled it down

Everyone cheered and started to sing

But Ezekiel said it ain't nothing but a thing

Ezekiel Tugbottom

Ezekiel Tugbottom

The hero, hero, hero…

The hero of Brighton

Every citizen of Brighton smiled at the sound of the song that Mayor Brunson played in the park. He stood at the base of a large statue covered in a sheet.

"My fellow Brightonians," Mayor Brunson announced, "Unveiling this statue is my proudest moment as your mayor. Feast your eyes on Ezekiel Tugbottom." He pulled down the sheet revealing the man sung about who had his rope around a tornado.

Among the cheering crowd of Brighton citizens, Molly cheered loudest while waving her foam finger. Loki stood behind her with skeptical eyes.

"WHOO! WE LOVE YOU, EZEKIEL!"

"Whoa, what's the big deal?" Scratch asked as he suddenly appeared from Molly's raccoon tail hat. "Why do you care about this guy?"

"Every Brightonian knows the legend of Ezekiel Tugbottom, hero of Brighton!" Molly replied. "He saved the town from the biggest tornado ever seen! Plus, he was best friends with a grizzly bear. If you'd stayed awake while we were in history class, you'd know it too."

"Since when do tall tales belong in history classes?" Loki asked.

Molly gasped loudly. "How dare you? Ezekiel Tugbottom is not a tall tale!"

"Molly, I heard the song." Loki said. "They're saying that this man threw his lasso around a tornado and wrestled it down. That's clearly false considering that tornados are just wind. The legend of Ezekiel Bigbottom is clearly just a legend."

"First of all, it's Tugbottom." Molly said. "And secondly, I will prove to you that the legend of real or my name is not Molly McGee, which it is."

"Sounds like something to watch with popcorn." Scratch said. "I wonder if there's any at the pot lock."

Little do they know that a strange figure was watching them and listening.

Molly and Loki approached the statue looking up at the tornado-wrangler.

"You expect me to believe that this mere mortal saved an entire town by fighting down a tornado?" Loki scoffed. "Only Thor can do that. He can stop a tornado with just a strike from his hammer."

"There is nothing mere about this guy." Molly said. "Who knows what the great Ezekiel Tugbottom would say if he could see this now?"

"Well, the nose isn't quite right, but overall, not bad." Molly and Loki turned to the new voice finding an unfamiliar ghost right beside them. He floated there in blue with a big gut and big hair. "Really captured my rugged yet indomitable spirit."

Molly gasped. "Ezekiel Tugbottom?"

"In the ectoplasm!" the new ghost introduced himself. "Honorary city council member, three-time winner of the Farm Times's Golden Husk award, and…"

"Brighton's burliest man 1871 through '76!" both Molly and Ezekiel cheered at once.

"This cannot be happening." Loki said in disbelief.

"Well, potluck was a bust." Scratch said arriving with a tall sandwich which he then ate. "They ran out of food."

"Scratch! Look who it is!" Molly said. "It's Ezekiel Tugbottom himself!"

One look at Ezekiel, and Scratch spit out his whole sandwich. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! This is the guy everyone's all excited about?"

"Indeed! And thank you for coming to the big unveiling, uh, Stretch, was it?" Ezekiel said. "Always nice to meet a fan. Here. I got a gift for you." He reached into his self and pulled out a book with his living body drawn on the cover. "Bottom's Up: Memoir of a Hero. A Tugbottom Press exclusive." He signed his name on it and forced it into Scratch's hands.

"This can't be the right guy!" Scratch said.

"Do you know him?" Loki asked.

"A lot of ghosts do." Scratch said. "In the Ghost World, we call him Tug the Tornado."

"'Cause he fought a tornado?" Molly asked.

"No! 'Cause he's a blowhard!" Scratch replied. "He's always bragging. He's always acting like he's better than everyone else."

"Scratch, he is better than everyone." Molly said. "What do you think now, Loki? Now that you know he's real, you believe in the legend, right?"

"Molly, all you've proven is that Ezekiel Bigbottom used to live." Loki said. "That doesn't mean he did any of those unbelievable acts."

"Again, it's Tugbottom. And if you still don't believe, then I'll show you how much of a hero he is." Molly said. "Hey, Mr. Tugbottom…"

"Oh, please. My friends call me Tug." Ezekiel said.

"Right. Tug. You see, my friend here has a hard time believing anything you did is real. I was hoping you'd help open his eyes."

"Can do." Ezekiel said. "Show me around town, and I'll give your buddy a real showcase of my legacy."

Loki rolled his eyes. "This is going to be a disaster, isn't it?"

"Yeah. I'm just counting down how long it takes until this hits the wall." Scratch said morphing part of his body into a pocketwatch.

"Golly." Ezekiel said as he looked around the town. He saw trash on the sidwalks, cracked streets, and raccoons riding on shopping carts. "Brighton sure has lost its way since I departed."

"Well, yeah. We may have hit some tough times, but we've bea tough times before." Molly said. "Like you beat that tornado! With your fists!"

"Yet to be proven." Loki said.

"Oh, come now, kid." Ezekiel said. "I'm telling you I really did do all of those things. Isn't that enough?"

"I find that hard to believe." Loki said with his arms crossed. "I've told much more believable lies than that, and one of them was when I told my father that Volstagg was going on a diet."

"I don't know who that is, but I think I know how to change your mind." Ezekiel said. "I'm going to help renovate this town."

"Ooh! What do you have in mind?" Molly asked.

Molly was slowly beginning to lose faith in her hero after hearing his ideas. He started off with putting his face on a city plaque. He then renamed the park Tugbottom Field. He even wanted to rename the town Tugbottom. All in all, Ezekiel Tugbottom only wanted to put his name on everything.

All of a sudden, their tour was interrupted by a fire alarm. Over at the Brighton Historical Society, flames were erupting spreading over the place. Not only that, but there was a woman trapped inside.

"Oh, no!" Molly gasped.

"Fear not, child. Ezekiel Tugbottom is here! Huzzah!" The late hero exclaimed as he flew into the library at breakneck speed.

"Finally!" Molly sighed loudly. "See, Loki? He is a hero! He just needed the right opportunity to let his true colors shine."

"Whew! That was close! You're safe." Ezekiel said as he returned. But he wasn't talking to the woman who was trapped in the fire. He was talking to the portrait of himself that he carried out with him.

"But that woman!" Molly yelled out as the trapped woman managed to climb down by herself safely.

"Didn't even try to save the painting!" Ezekiel said as if the portrait was the most important thing in the world. "I don't want to be insensitive, but she should be fired. Fire her."

With a dropped expression, Molly called the fire department.

Ezekiel Tugbottom was gone when the firemen arrived to handle the flames, but Molly, Scratch, and Loki remained. Molly stood in disbelief while Loki had a smug look on his face. Scratch was staring at his pocketwatch.

"38 minutes, 9 seconds." Scratch said. "You know, that is the longest time I've ever waited to be proven right."

"Right opportunity to let his true colors shine, huh?" Loki asked. "I'd normally say something about hot air, but since there was a fire, I feel like that's beneath me."

"This is all wrong." Molly said. "How can Brighton admire this guy? How can I admire this guy?"

"And let me guess," Loki said, "You wanna investigate this further by doing research into what really happened the day the tornado attacked."

"You got that right." Molly said. "To the Tugbottom Library… We should not have renamed that."

At the library, the gang were swamped with books that they read. So far, they couldn't find anything useful.

"What's this? Ezekiel Bigbottom wrestled down a tornado to save the town? Shocking." Loki said with fake surprise. "And he befriended a bear too? Haven't seen that before."

"You know, I know you're getting it wrong on purpose now." Molly said.

"Yeah, but now that we know how much of a jerk he is, I feel more justified with insulting him." Loki said.

Molly groaned. "Every single one of these paints Ezekiel Tugbottom as a selfless hero. How can history have been so wrong?"

Loki sighed before flipping his book to the first pages. That's when something caught his eye, something that surprised him.

"Wait a moment…" Loki swiped all the other books and flipped to their first pages. He darted his eyes all around until he stopped with a smile on his face. "Just like I thought."

"What?" Scratch asked.

"Ezekiel started his own publishing company, right?"

"Yeah. Tugbottom Press. So?" Molly asked.

"I've been looking at all these textbooks, and do you know what they all have in common?" Loki asked. He pointed to all the pages he examined for Molly to look at.

After a minute of scanning, Molly had a surprised expression. "No way! All of these books were written in association with Tugbottom Press? How did we miss that?"

"Probably because nobody pays attention to the publishers." Scratch said.

"Finally, you see the problem." Said a new, yet familiar voice. Everyone turned to see a shadowy figure that stepped into the light. It was a young girl who wore a dark-gray trench coat and fedora. She tripped for a second as her hat fell off. It was Libby Stein-Torres, who picked herself up. "As soon as I saw those tags too, I thought something was suspicious."

"Libby?" Molly asked. "How long have you been following us?"

"Since the unveiling." Libby said. "I overheard you and Lukas debating over whether or not the legend of Ezekiel Tugbottom is real, so I followed you around to see if you were worthy of knowing the truth."

"What truth?" Loki asked.

"I'll show you." Libby said. "To the archives." She creeped around the corner in a paranoid fashion gesturing her friends to follow her.

"Has Libby always been this nutty?" Scratch asked.

Libby lead the way to a certain bookshelf. She looked around until she pulled on a book that was labeled "Secret Levers 4 Secret Doors". Ironically, it turned out to be a secret lever, and after it clicked, the bookshelf opened up a secret door.

"Sponsored by the Brighton Women's Historical Society, where history is no mystery." Libby said as she continued into the dark hallway that was just revealed.

Molly, Loki, and Scratch followed down to a dark and mysterious subsection full of old books. Libby stood at the center with a chest in her hands. "The answers you seek are in here." She opened it revealing an old book and a vinyl record.

Molly pulled out the book and read aloud from its cover. "The True History of Brighton?"

"All aboard." Libby said. "'Cause the truth train is leaving the station. Whoo-whoo!"

"Okay, now, you're scaring me, and that's saying something." Loki said as the music played from the vinyl record.

Narrator:

I had to revise the story I told

As it turns out, he was not so bold

It was his sister Sally who had heroic genes

Ezekiel didn't even like turnip greens

He never actually hugged that bear

And when he saw the tornado, he froze in terror

It was Sally who saved him with a lasso pull

The story of Ezekiel's a buncha bull

Ezekiel Tugbottom

Ezekiel Tugbottom

He's no hero, hero, hero…

No hero of Brighton

"From what I'm seeing here," Loki said as he read from the book, "Ezekiel's sister, Sally, was the real hero. But she didn't wrestle down a tornado. She just lead the people into rebuilding it after it had passed."

"Exactly, Lukas." Libby said. "This town is what it is today because of her."

"Zeke wasn't even friends with a bear, was he?" Molly asked.

"I told you that guy was bogus." Scratch said.

"Then that means," Molly realized standing up, "Tugbottom lied! He used the press to make himself the hero instead of his sister! This injustice will not stand!"

"I'm surprised he knew how to spell." Scratch said.

Molly, Loki, and Scratch returned to the park where Ezekiel Tugbottom's statue was erected. Molly laid down a wooden block for her to stand on so everyone could see her. In one hand, she held the True History book, and in the other, she had a microphone she yelled into.

"This is a monument of lies! For the last hundred and sixty years, Brighton has put this fraud on a pedestal! But that ends today! The truth must come out! Avert your eyes! Don't look at the statue! He doesn't deserve your admiration! Even those biceps are a lie!"

"How dare you try to destroy my legacy!" Ezekiel shouted revealing himself from above. He had a killer look of anger all over his face. And right behind him, a storm quickly brewed making him look much darker. The lighting and thunder caused most of the Brightonians to run off, but the kids remained.

"Uh… You know what?" Scratch asked nervously. "Why don't you just buzz off, you blowhard?"

"I'll show you blowhard!" Ezekiel yelled out. He let out a powerful gust of air from his mouth that sent Scratch flying backwards.

Behind him, Scratch opened a ghost portal. "HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF MOUTHWASH!" He yelled right before vanishing in the portal.

"SCRATCH!" Molly cried out. She turned her disappointed eyes at the bad ghost. "You don't deserve Brighton! We never should have looked up to you and your perfectly-sculpted chin!"

"I agree with her!" Loki said. "At this point, I'd much rather worship my brother all day than listen to your stupid tall tale again!"

"Time to live up to my nickname." Ezekiel said as he began to get bigger. "TUG THE TORNADO!" Suddenly, he changed into a life-sized, green tornado with a monstrous face on it.

"MAKE A BREAK FOR IT!" Loki yelled as he grabbed Molly's hand and dragged her across the park.

As they raced across from tree to tree, Ezekiel chased after them tearing down everything in its path. "I wanted to be like my sister, but being a hero is hard! In the end, it was easier to just make it up and let history say I was strong, brave, and handsome! I mean, what more could people want?"

Molly jumped out into an open field with her book open wide. She was showing off a picture of Sally Tugbottom. "A REAL HERO!"

Ezekiel roared and was about to strike her down when Loki whistled to get his attention. "Hey, Ezekiel Bigbottom, how's the weather up there?"

"STOP CALLING ME THAT!" Ezekiel yelled before striking down at Loki. However, just as he did, Loki disappeared into thin air. "WHAT THE… HOW…"

"Yoo-hoo!" Loki yelled showing himself again in a different location behind the tornado. "You missed, Bigbottom!"

"THAT'S NOT MY NAME!" Ezekiel said launching another attack, but again, Loki disappeared. He reappeared again to get his attention, and the whole thing kept repeating.

"Hey, Bigbottom!"

"Hit me, Bigbottom!"

"Nice aim, Bigbottom!"

"Bigbottom!"

Ezekiel roared out in complete frustration. "HOW ARE YOU DOING THAT?!"

Loki walked up with a smug look on his face. "Figure it out for yourself… Bigbottom."

One of Ezekiel's eye changed to blood red. He yelled his loudest roar before scooping up a large chunk of the earth. He threw it at Loki who, unsurprisingly, was another illusion. But this time, it didn't end there. The chunk kept rolling quickly toward the Ezekiel Tugbottom statue.

Ezekiel's eyes returned to normal watching with worry. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!" The chunk of earth tapped on the statue and bounced off. He sighed with relief at first, but cried out as soon as the statue turned to dust.

"NOOOOOO! MY BEAUTIFUL STATUE! LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME…"

KRAKOOM!

Suddenly, a powerful bolt of lightning shot down from above hitting at Ezekiel directly. He quickly reverted back to his ghost form feeling the electricity surge right through him. It was a long jolt, but when it was over, Ezekiel dropped down to his face. He chuckled with his eyes sparking.

"Mommy, my kitty went swimming in the piano."

"What the…" Molly said. "Oh, right, electricity makes ghosts silly. But where did that…"

"OH, CORN!" Loki yelled as he jumped behind a tree. Molly looked confused until she saw who he was hiding from.

A burly man flew in from the sky spinning his stone hammer like a helicopter. He had silver armor, a red cape, and long, blond hair. As soon as he landed, Molly gasped in great admiration.

"You're Thor!"

"Aye." Thor said. He picked Ezekiel up from the ground to examine him. "So this is what all the fuss is about. A ghost."

"Wow! Thanks for the help, sir!" Molly cheered with excitement. "But how did you know we needed help?"

"Truthfully, we've had your town on our watch for a short while." Thor said. "When we saw that there was something strange about this storm, I decided to intervene."

"Oh." Molly said suddenly getting nervous. Her eyes looked over to where Loki was hiding and saw that he refused to come out. "So… why are you watching Brighton, Mr. Thor, sir."

"Hopefully, it's nothing that will concern you." Thor said. He turned his attention back to the dizzy ghost. "Right now, I want to know what to do about this spirit."

"I'll take him from here!" a new voice called out. Everyone turned to see a pink ghost with a rope. She rode in on a blue ghost horse with Scratch behind her.

"Molly, I brought help!" Scratch yelled out. "Hey, is that Thor?"

"Another ghost?" Thor asked. "Do you know this one?"

"Sadly, yep. I'm Sally, his sister."

Molly gasped being starstruck again. "She's friends with a bear."

"So what's his problem?" Thor asked tossing Ezekiel's prone body to the bear.

"Poor guy wanted to be praised as a hero." Sally said shaking her head. "Instead of doing something heroic, he decided to lie and take credit he didn't deserve. Scratch told me how his friends were about to call him out on his lies, and he attacked them to shut them up."

"I see." Thor said. "If it makes you feel any better, I can sympathize with having issues with brothers."

Behind the tree, Loki rolled his eyes in annoyance.

"Well, rest assured, this boy's going to have an earful when we get home." Sally said. "He's disgraced the proud Tugbottom name for too long."

"See to it, then." Thor said. "In the meantime, I must return home as well. There's a certain someone who needs investigating. Heimdall, open the portal!"

Suddenly, the Bifrost rainbow beam shot down surrounding Thor. When he vanished, it ended leaving a mosaic marking burning on the ground.

"That man has no regard to lawn care." Loki said revealing himself.

"I don't believe it!" Molly heaved. "I got to meet both the Hero of Brighton and Thor on the same day! It's a dream come true."

"Put a sock in it, will you?" Loki asked.

When everything was cleared up, the Brightonians returned to the park where Mayor Brunson stood with Molly at the base of a new veiled statue.

"It was a dark day for Brighton," Brunson said, "When that freak tornado destroyed our brand new statue. But on the bright side, we can now brag that Thor came to town. Not only that, new historical facts have come to light. Molly McGee, would you like to do the honors?"

"Nothing will make me happier." Molly said as she pulled the curtain off the new statue. Now, instead of Ezekiel Tugbottom, Sally was presented. "It was actually Sally Tugbottom, not her brother, who saved Brighton and inspired folks to rebuild the town. She reminds us that being a hero isn't about being the biggest or the strongest. It's about doing the hard work of helping other people."

The crowd cheered at the proclamation. As they did, Molly and Loki joined the ghosts who were watching from the side.

"I will rest easy knowing Brighton's in good hands, Molly." Sally said. "Thank you for carrying on my work. Just be sure to get that trickster of yours in check."

"Keep ME in check?" Loki asked. "Remember, I was the one who saved her by giving your brother the runaround."

"Yeah, speaking of me," Ezekiel said after fully recovering from the electric shock, "What if I had a second smaller statue that…" He was interrupted by the ghost bear who bit his tail end. "Okay! It was just an idea!"

Sally opened a ghost portal which she went through along with her bear and brother. It closed behind her. The trio stood proudly at their work…

…When suddenly, Libby revealed herself slowly clapping her hands. "Congratulations. But you've barely scratched the surface of this town's strange secrets. Back at Turnip Fest, there was an appearance of an Asgardian warrior woman. And now, Thor appeared. This leads me to suspect that there might be a Norse singularity somewhere in Brighton that…"

"Not now, Libby. Basking." Molly interrupted.

"Gotcha." Libby said. "I'll come back later." She took her leave.

"Whew." Loki sighed in relief. His cover was safe… for now.
