Chapter 12 – Abby's Secret
Both Abby and Tin-Tin talking as they were walking back up to the house after talking about her past. "Abby the Tracy's are going to find out about your past."
"But Tin- Tin they can't, cause if they do, they won't want to know me and they won't understand."
"Abby, there is something you should know about the Tracy's they understand what you are going through more than you realise."
"Just in time, food is about to get served and you know how my brothers are when there is food around." Alan shouted at Tin-Tin as they walk up the path.
Everyone sat around the table eating and just talking about stuff in general. Jeff could see that Tin-Tin wanted to say something probably regarding her roommate who was sat across the table from him. "Guys, I would like you, to meet my new roommate Abby."
Everyone introduced themselves and they could see that Abby was becoming more and more nervous and then got up and ran from the table and Tin-Tin went after her with all the Tracy's looking at each other not sure what had just happened. Jeff excused everyone from the table knowing that everything that is currently going on is completely out his hands and he has no answers on things.
"OK boys, I have no idea what just happened there, but whatever our guest is going through we are going to make sure we are there to support her when she may ask for help."
"Actually Dad, I believe we should let her know with small gestures that we aren't going to hurt her."
"Ok Alan what do you suggest we do?" Alan goes on to try and explain what they can do to support their guest in small ways to show that they mean no harm.
Tin-Tin caught up with Abby back at Tin-Tin's room which they were sharing so that Abby isn't on her "Abby, I am here. Look the door is locked you can talk to me. What is going on?"
"Just seeing the Tracy's being a family and then feeling so uncomfortable around men cause of what has happened with my foster parents I am unsure whether I can actually trust anyone."
"Abby you can trust these people. I trust them with my life they would never hurt. If you are not ready to talk to the men of the Tracy family then speak to Mrs Tracy."
"Thank you, Tin, I think I should explain myself to at least one other people for the time being. Would you be able to get her for me please I don't feel ready to face the rest of them looking like this." With that Tin-Tin left the room to go and find Emily. Tin-Tin found both Scott and Emily cuddling up on the sofa.
"Sorry to interrupt but Mrs Tracy would it be possible if I could ask you something private, please."
"Of course, Tin-Tin." Next thing she looked towards Scott "Haven't you got to do some work on 1 or some paperwork that you have been meaning to do?" Giving Scott a look as if to say go away, with that look Scott got up and went down to his bird to do some work on it. "Ok Tin-Tin, there is no one else around so what is the problem?"
"You know how you said if there were any problems to come to you well, there is a problem with Abby I have tried to explain to her that no one is going to hurt her but she won't talk to anyone except you."
"And let me guess she asked you to come and get me?"
"Yes, sorry I know you and Scott haven't had much alone time lately."
"It is fine Tin-Tin, shall we go." Tin-Tin walked with Emily to her bedroom where Abby was waiting for them. Once Emily got into the room, she could tell that Abby had been crying. "Hey Abby no one is going to hurt you, you are at one of the safest places I am not going to let anything happen to you nor is any of the Tracy's. Now why don't you tell me what is going on so that we can try and help you."
"Well, you know how I am under the care of social services it is because both my parents died when I was 5." Emily and Tin-Tin just sat and listen allowing Abby to carry on talk "When I was 5 years old me and my family went on holiday, we had only gone to Los Angeles and decided to explore a new place somewhere new and somewhere different. It was one evening and we were sat on one of the piers where we saw that the bay water had disappeared next thing, we discovered the tsunami alarm was going off so we ran and ran but we couldn't out run the wave. My family was separated and we had no idea where we were. I was lucky I was found lying in the street by International Rescue and taken to one of the medical centres. It turned out I was really ill with a punctured lung, a broken leg including foot as well as concussion. I was all alone at this point; my family was nowhere to be found and my little brother was missing as well. International Rescue told me to stay strong and that I would be reunited with my family soon, but it was a lie I found out that both of my parents were killed by the first wave. My dad unfortunately drowned and my mum I don't know actually know what happened to her. Since then, I have been passed around foster homes where the men of the house hurt me and I can't do anything to stop them."
Both Emily and Tin-Tin sat there in disbelief of what had happened, knowing they are going to do everything in their power to help Abby. "Abby it is clear that you are tired why don't you get some sleep and leave everything else to me and Tin-Tin."
"Thank you"
As the evening went on everyone including Tin-Tin was down in the games room. Tin-Tin decided to was going to have some quiet time away from the Tracy's so she headed to her room and found Abby's bed empty. She ran back straight to Emily "She is gone". With that Emily got up quickly straight out of the room with the rest of the Tracy's on her heels.
