In a playground as Eda, Luz and Arthur sat on a bench watching King play.
"What if he gets hurt? What if the kids are mean to him? My marental instincts are freaking out." Luz gasped in a worried tone.
"He's fine. Look at him." Said Eda, pointing to King who was trying to climb the slide.
"It does look like he's having fun." Said Arthur.
"Aw. I wonder what cute little game he's playing." Luz smiled.
"Stand back, cretins." Said King as he climbed to the top of the slide. "Yes! Yes! This is a throne worthy of a tyrant. Bow to me you snotty underlings. Bow!"
"Okay." Said two children before striking amused poses.
"Yes, appease your master." King smiled as a child with snot on his nose came up behind him.
"This isn't for standing, it's for sliding. You try." He said pushing King down the slide causing him to hit the ground.
"Eda!" King whines running over to them. "That monster took my throne!"
"You mean the baby?" Eda points.
"No, the usurper. I want you to go over there and blow him up. Kaboom!" King declares.
"Kaboom!" Usurper yells riding on a spring rider nearby.
"Yeah, I'm not using Owlbert to blow up a five‐year‐old." Eda said unscrewing Owlbert from his staff. "He's got better things to do, like this." As Eda started to pet him Owlbert smiles loving it.
"Aww that's so cute." Luz smiles.
"Where did you get him?" Asked Arthur.
"Get? I made Owlbert from the branch of an ancient tree. He's my Palisman and we're bonded for life. I'd annihilate anyone who'd hurt him." Eda declares.
"Fine. Don't help. Arthur, I need your belt." Said King to the otherworldly boy.
"Sorry, but the Desire Driver only works with me." Arthur retorted.
"Fine revenge will taste all the sweeter if they fall by my hand alone." King declares when Usurper walks up behind him.
"Tag you're it!" He said pushing King and running off laughing.
"Oh, man. Here we go. King's squeak of rage." Eda smiles.
King roared with a high-pitched squeak before charging after the child, making Eda laugh.
"He's like a little teakettle." Eda laughs.
"That was adorable." Arthur laughed.
"So cute." Luz chuckles when she notices a mark on Owlbert's foot. "Hey what's that?"
"That's his interlock. So he only fits on to my staff. Every palisman has one." Eda explains but in the middle of her sentence she finds herself in a dark area where everything but her staff and the bench had disappeared. "Luz? Arthur? Lily? Katara? Anyone?" Eda panics.
"Eda?" Resounded Luz's voice.
"Luz?" Shouted Eda as she suddenly woke up revealing that she was lying on the bench with the 4 humans looking at her worried.
"Eda, wake up!" Said Arthur as Eda groaned as she sat up.
"Are you okay?" Asked Luz.
"What happened to you? You passed out in the middle of a sentence." Asked Arthur.
"Oh no, the curse. We have to go home now!" Said Eda as she stood up and picked up her scepter.
"Curse? What curse?" Asks Arthur worriedly.
"We'll explain later, now we have to go back to the Owl House." Said Luz. "Time to go!" She shouted to King.
"Five more minutes please, Luz." Said King about to attack the Usurper.
"King!" Shouted Luz and Arthur.
"Ah, man. This isn't over." Said King.
"All right, let's play again real soon." The Usurper walks up to King and hugs him.
"No no. Keep those sticky hands away! Oh no! He's touching me!" Shouted King.
Upon reaching the Owl House, Eda threw her stick against the couch before lying down on it.
"Okay Eda stay here, I'll get the elixir." Said Luz.
"Don't worry about it. I'll get it myself in a moment." Said Eda.
"So what's going on? And why are you talking about a curse?" Asked Arthur.
"Long story short, Eda has to take elixirs or the curse will turn her into a monster and that's bad for all of us." Said Luz.
"You need us to stay home and take care of you? I could put King in a little doctor's outfit." Said Luz, gasping at the thought.
"Huh?" Asked King, looking at her.
"Nobody wants to see that." Said Eda.
"I want to see that." Said Luz.
"That sounds like a lot of fun." Said Arthur.
"Look, I can take care of myself. I had this curse before you were born." Said Eda.
"How did you get this curse?" Asks Luz.
"I don't know." Said Eda.
"You don't know?" Asks Arthur incredulously.
"Somebody gave it to me. I don't know who and I don't care because I'm fine, okay? Anyway, don't you and Luz have plans with Twerpledee and Tweedledum?" Eda asked.
"Well, Willow, Gus, and I were going to the Grudgby game between Hexside and Glandus high." Said Luz.
"And I'm going to walk around town. Sports aren't really my thing." Said Arthur.
" Since when you are sports, Luz? " Asked Eda.
"Since I found a little something called 'Hexside pride'. To think that Glandus, or anyone else, would dare to confront us." Said Luz making Arthur laugh.
"But if you really need someone to stay. I don't mind." He said.
"Ugh, that's nice, but no thanks. Go have fun." Said Eda.
"Hooray! Hooray for sports! Hugs and kisses, King." Said Luz as she kissed King on the forehead before she and Arthur left the house, and each went their separate ways. "Don't spend all night plotting revenge."
"That slobber-faced kid will know my wrath." Said King in a sing-song tone.
Later, on the streets of Bonesborough, Arthur was walking down the street with a bag. He was looking around at the different people walking, when he collided with someone who dropped his purchases from the bag.
"Oh look where you..." Said the person who had bumped into him before they looked at each other and Arthur realized it was Amity. "Oh... hi, Arthur."
"Hi, how have you been since the last time?" Asked Arthur as he picked up his purchases with the help of Amity, who could see that it was a copy of Otabin as well as a stuffed animal with his likeness.
"Did you want some souvenirs from our little adventure at the library?" She asked.
"Not particularly, I like the story and the stuffed animal was an impulse, maybe I wanted to feel the presence of this little bunny." Answered Arthur with a nervous laugh before hearing a laugh not far from them.
Turning in the direction of the laughter to see Boscha, a classmate friend of Amity. She was a triclop with purple hair. She was accompanied by some of her friends.
"Do not tell me that you hang out with him Amity?" She said in a scornful tone to Arthur, making Amity gasp and deny this insinuation.
Arthur was not angry with her, he had understood that she gave herself a kind but that in fact she was someone good. He just had to wait for her to show this side of herself voluntarily.
"Oh look what he's holding." Said Boscha pointing to the Otabin stuffed animal Arthur was holding. "You need something to sleep with. How cute." She giggled.
"You know, girl." Arthur began in a familiar tone that surprised the triclope. "For me, true maturity is knowing how to behave as an adult, while accepting the childish side that helps us to endure this cruel world. You can make fun of me all you want. I don't care." He said before getting an alert on his phone that he had received a message from Luz. "Oh excuse me, Amity, but I have to go. See ya." He said before running out of town towards a forest, leaving Amity and the group of girls still shocked by his answer.
They probably didn't expect that from him. Especially Amity who thought he was going to use the objects he used against her and Otabin to intimidate them.
Arthur soon arrived in a forest where he found, Luz, Willow and Gus running in a dark area trying to catch up with Owlbert.
"Owlbert! Owlbert is coming back! Please!" Shouted Luz.
"Hey Luz, what's going on, did you just tell me to come here?" Asked Arthur.
"Owlbert ran away after he was hurt after we fell while flying. So we're looking for him." Explained Luz as she held Eda's staff, without Owlbert on it.
"Um... I see... and how come you fell while flying and he got hurt?" Arthur asked suspiciously.
"Oh... uh... well... it could be that after I had to get back to the Owl House quickly... I borrowed Owlbert from Eda to go faster... And we crashed..." Luz answered awkwardly.
"Okay, don't tell me more, otherwise I feel like I'm going to get mad." Arthur groaned.
The group walked on, looking for Owlbert until they saw him enter a cave containing many bones and spider webs.
As they walked, the four of them heard crunching noises with every step they took.
"Wow. I keep stepping on a lot of crunchy twigs." Said Willow.
"Uh Willow, those are bones." Said Arthur.
"Not if I never look down." Said Willow looking up as a shadow passed in front of them.
"Who's there?" Shouted Arthur.
"This isn't just any kind of forest I'm used to." Said Luz as she poked at a spider web with the stick.
"That's because it's not a forest." Said Willow as she looked down and they saw the baby Bats coming towards them.
"Hey, I remember you three." Remembered Arthur.
"You are the Queen Bat babies." Also remembered Luz.
"Wait a minute. Bat Queen?" Said Gus as he and Willow backed away in fear.
"I think I'd rather take my chances with Eda." Said Willow.
"We're looking for a little owl and a dog and...there they are." Said Luz as she pointed to see Owlbert ahead of them.
However, the Palisman stepped back.
"Owlbert, thank God you're okay. Come here, buddy. It's time to go home." Said Luz as she walked towards Owlbert only for Bat Queen to land between them surprising everyone.
"Hello, little humans." She said, her look making them all nervous as she slowly approached them.
"This is..." Willow swallowed.
"Bat Queen, yeah we met her once." Said Arthur.
"We sort of babysat her kids once. Don't worry, leave it to us." Assured Luz.
"Hello, Bat Queen, long time no see. It's good to see you again." Arthur greeted as he approached Owlbert. "Owlbert has sort of run off, we just came back to take him back to his mistress." Said Arthur as he reached out his hand but Bat Queen stopped him.
"Being careless with the Palisments is very serious. I'm protecting it." Said Bat Queen.
"And thanks for that, uh, but it belongs to Eda, the Lady Owl. And you owe her a favor, remember?" Luz clarified.
"Owl Lady is careless. Her staff left her sight. Taken by human who steals, hurts, frightens." Listed Bat Queen.
"Huh?" Luz gasped.
"I swear, Luz, sometimes you deserve to be slapped." Said Arthur as he palmed his face.
"They told me everything," Bat Queen said as Owlbert's eyes glowed.
"Owlbert, we never meant to hurt you." Said Luz.
Flying to Bat Queen, the Palismans landed on her head as her eyes glowed for a few seconds. "Trust is earned. Through trials!" Bat Queen declared as flames shot up around his perch.
"Trials" said Gus excitedly.
"Guys, Bat Queen is well known for her impossible challenges. I've never heard of anyone winning against her." Whispered Willow.
"We don't have a choice Willow. We can't lose Owlbert." Said Luz as Arthur stepped forward.
"I accept your challenge." Said Arthur, aware that even if he was not responsible for the situation, he was the most capable of accomplishing the so-called impossible.
Out of nowhere the Desire Drive appeared in his hand and he placed it at his waist.
Desire Driver!
"And we'll be there with you. Willow nodded.
"May the flags raise you up." Gus said.
However, Bat Queen raised her claw and the webs trapped Willow and Gus.
"Hey!" Said Gus.
"What?" Willow gasped.
"No help. Now let the trials begin. Milk the spider demon." Bat Queen ordered.
Arthur and Luz were handed a bucket as a giant spider with cow teats crawled in.
Taking a deep breath, they both looked at each other.
"Alright you come on you." Said Luz but the Spider Demon tried to run away. Luckily Arthur quickly climbed on top of her and squeezed her neck with his arms hard enough for her to understand that if she tried to run away, he would strangle her. It wasn't very moral, but he felt it was necessary.
Luz began to milk her, filling the bucket by extinguishing a test flame.
"Remove bees' nest." Bat Queen ordered.
Climbing the tree, Luz tried to pierce the nest with the stick but the nest turned into a giant bee.
Panicked, Luz fell as Arthur placed a transforming object on the Desire Driver. This one was white and blue and had as illustration a kind of pistlet with under the barrel the symbol of two helmets and an object with a white bat at the back.
Twoside Driver!
"Henshin..." He said before pressing the button.
Versus Up! Precious! Trust us! Justice! Bat! Kamen Rider Live! Ready, fight.
This time the armor added to the suit was yellow with a yellow bat pattern on a white background on the pectoral area with the visor turned orange.
He then attacked the giant bee with a back kick so hard that it flew out of the forest.
"Whoo nice shot." Said Luz as he caught his breath.
Nearby, Gus was pulling on the webs that were holding him back.
"Come on. I've almost got it." He smiled as he freed himself from the webs. "I'm free! Bat Queen, you'll regret the day you tried to trap..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Bat Queen closed his claw, binding Gus with more webs.
"Oh no." growled Gus as the second flame went out.
"Give the babies a bath." Bat Queen declared.
Struggling to wash them, Bast held two stuck while Luz scrubbed them but the two babies fought and the third bit them.
"Guys, we're here if you need us." Said Gus.
"Yeah. Set us free. We can get Eda and the others." Said Willow.
"No, I was selfish, and I hurt Owlbert." Scrubs Luz.
"And I should have been with you to make sure Luz didn't do something stupid like that." Said Bast.
Grabbing the bucket, he spills the water on the three baby bats, cleaning them and making them shiny.
"Aww." Luz smiled.
Shaking themselves, the three babies screamed, showing their fangs, scaring them away from Luz as a simple growl from Bast calmed the bats.
"How do you do that?" Luz asked.
"No idea, the Raise Buckle bat theme must help." Supposed Bast as he pointed the object at the Desire Driver.
Several minutes later, Luz and Bast were panting completely exhausted when the last flame went out as Gus managed to free himself again.
"Yes, I'm free again." He said before being tied up again when he hit the ground.
"Alright, Bat Queen, this is the last of your duties. We have proven our dedication. Please, please, give us Owlbert back." Said Bast.
"I'm so sorry for the pain I caused you, Owlbert. I promise to be more careful. Will you come back with us?" Asked Luz.
Seeing the sincerity on their faces, the Palisman nodded. Jumping up, he was about to walk when Bat Queen raised her claws to lock him in.
"No! No more tracks. Final test. You must face me!" Declared Bat Queen.
"What?!" Gasped the two Eda apprentices.
Bat Queen flew to hit Bast.
"You'll never get him back!" Said Bat Queen as she hit him, sending him backwards a meter.
"I always thought size wasn't everything, but obviously I was wrong." Bast groaned.
"I don't think I like this." Admits Luz.
"Luz, and Arthur get us out of here. We can help you." Said Willow.
Luz and Bast ran to free Willow and Gus.
"Look!" Said Willow pointing to the Baby Bats that were coming.
"I'll hold them off with my flags!" Declared Gus making the babies scream as they attacked him and Willow. "No! That was a bad plan."
"Okay. Now I've had enough of this little game. You want a fight. I'll give you one." Said Bast as he ran towards Bat Queen and gave her a powerful blow that knocked her backwards.
Bast ran for their lives with Bat Queen right behind them.
Meanwhile, Owlbert tried to free himself and ended up clearing a wing.
"We won't let you imprison Owlbert!" Luz shouted as she went to swing the baton at Bat Queen but was blocked by Bast before he swung his Raise Buckle again.
Live & Evil Strike!
He made a powerful leap lifting him several feet off the ground before making a diving kick towards Bat Queen who took fright as she saw an aura of a mixture of white and black surrounding Bast's foot heading towards her before finally being hit by the blow that sent him against a rock wall.
This allowed Bast and Luz to see something on Bat Queen's leg.
"Is that a Interlock?" Bast gasped as he and Luz approached their opponent's weakened form.
"Bat Queen, you used to be on a staff, didn't you? You were a Palisman." Luz declared making her gasp.
Looking at her claw, Bat Queen slowly turned away.
"Yes, I was once part of a grand staff. A staff made for a giant. But I was broken, discarded. All alone." Said Bat Queen.
"That's why you're so protective of Owlbert." Said Bast.
"I'm protecting them all." Declared Bat Queen as her eyes shone.
In the trees, more eyes glowed as Bast and Luz gasped to see that they were all Palismans.
"I have made my home in the forest. I am here to help those who have been lost. The forgotten." Said Bat Queen.
"I understand. But Owlbert is not forgotten. He has someone at home who loves him very much." Said Luz.
"And this situation only happened because some idiot preferred to fly without being trained for it rather than risk being a little late. Reproached Bast, looking at Luz who took a guilty look.
"He's not coming back with you." Said Bat Queen.
"That's not your decision to make." Said Luz.
"I won't let him." Declared Bat Queen, about to attack when Owlbert stopped him with glowing eyes before hooting.
"You... care about them." Said Bat Queen as their eyes stopped glowing.
Owlbert flew onto Luz's shoulder as Bast removed the Raise Buckle from the Desire Driver, noticing that the situation was calming down.
"All right. Get out of here. And take your friends with you." Said Bat Queen before gesturing as Willow and Gus ran, still being chased by the Baby Bats.
She hissed and the babies stopped attacking Gus, leaving him covered in slime.
"I don't think I'll ever be clean again." Said Gus as Arthur and Luz looked at Bat Queen.
"Bat Queen, do you know what happened to your owner?" Asked Arthur.
"It's been thousands of years. I forgot." She admitted.
"If you ever want to seek the truth, I'll help you." Smiled Luz.
"We will help you." Smiled Arthur in turn.
Bat Queen looked at Arthur.
"What were those objects you used?" She asked.
"The belt is called a Desire Driver, and the small items I can insert into it are from Raise Bucke. With this I can transform into a Kamen Rider Bast and use different powers with the Raiser Buckle, most of the ones I have allow me to use other Kamen Rider's powers and weapons." Explained Arthur.
Bat Queen nodded before leaving with her babies.
"I can't believe you took on Bat Queen." Willow smiled as she hugged Luz and Arthur with joy.
"And we're not dead!" Gus applauded.
"Thanks for helping us out. Sorry you missed the game." Said Luz.
"Are you kidding? It was better than any game. It was action-packed. And seeing another form of Arthur as Kamen Rider Bast was great. I had to wave my flags and I'm a little traumatized. Hooray!" Gus applauds.
"That was almost as exciting as Powerball." Smiled Willow.
"Come on Arthur, let's get this little guy home." Suggested Luz, looking at Owlbert.
Their friends would go home, and Arthur and Luz would return to the Owlhouse.
Luz would put a band-aid on Owlbert.
"And now you're a part of the boo‐boo buddy club." Said Luz as Owlbert hooted.
"Owlbert, why are you off the staff?"
Luz, Owlbert, and Arthur turned to the door, and they saw Eda, and King enter.
Owlbert hooted and flew toward her to land on her shoulder.
"Luz and Arthur took you to get some ice? Aw, that's a horrible lie." Said Eda as Owlbert looked at them. "Well, lucky for you three I don't care right now. I'm going to take a nap." Said Eda as she climbed in.
"I'm going to the playground." Said King as he left.
"How about we just keep this between us?" Suggests Luz.
"Sounds good to me." Acquiesced Arthur as Owlbert hooted nodding as well.
In Eda's room, she coughed as four bottles of elixir sat by her table before spitting out the one Lily had shot down her throat.
"The elixir It isn't working on the curse anymore. This is bad." Said Eda before spitting out the playground swing. "When did I swallow a swing?"
A few hours later, Arthur was in the room accessible via an app on his phone. It was a large living room with a round table in the middle surrounded by a circular sofa with a bar in one corner of the room. On another side of the room was a huge flat screen TV, and on a corner of the wall in question was a shelf where Arthur stored the book he had bought and put the plush Otabin next to the book.
He smiled as he looked at the stuffed animal before the stuffed animal began to speak.
"Friend." Said the stuffed animal with the same voice as during his escapade in the library.
This surprised Arthur who stepped back and rubbed his eyes to see that it was normal. Even after observing it in more detail.
"What the... Is this Toy Story?" He asked surprised before leaving the room.
