I never knew I could find anybody like you

The way you walk, way you talk, way you glow in the room

Do you love me? (Do you love me?)

Do you need me? (Do you need me?)

Why was she so nervous? She was one of the most respected and feared lawyers in the County, she was a force to be reckoned with and a total badass. All that she was aware of and believed to be. And yet here she was sweating and experiencing heart palpitations, rendered motionless before a simple door as she stared at the wood grain pattern overlying it.

All because of a man.

A man that was hidden behind said door, a man that shouldn't have this power over her; a simple man that made her feel anything but simple emotions. She couldn't pinpoint the exact moment when these feelings made themselves apparent, she couldn't even define the reasons that she felt that way toward him.

All she knew is that one day she had a meeting with him for a case that they've been working on for a month or so, and that she felt different around him and about him. She was suddenly nervous, overthinking and fighting the need to touch him.

And that was her routine for the past 2 months. Every time they had to interact, it felt like her brain was malfunctioning. She couldn't seem to be able to think or even make coherent sentences when she was talking to him. Michonne truly felt like her teenage self all over again and she needed to remediate the situation.

But for that, she needed to knock on the door. All she had to do was to raise her hand in a fist and knock on the door. Pretty simple and yet here she was, standing unmoving. She was lucky that his office was tucked away in the precinct, having people watching would've made this moment even worse.

Maybe she could do it another time, during a moment when they had to meet, she thought as the little courage she first felt started to dissipate. Or perhaps she didn't have to reveal her feelings, she could simply keep it professional and eventually move on. But she did have to admit to herself with a little bit of shame that she dreamed of kissing his lips. And also, she couldn't live with the embarrassment of running away from a simple crush.

The decision was made for her as the door swung open as she still pondered on what to do, revealing the man responsible for the turbulent emotions afflicting her.

"Michonne!" He let out, surprised to find her at his door. A shiver ran through her as his blue eyes traveled all over her body before connecting with hers. "I wasn't expecting you." He finished still surprised by her presence.

"Did we have a meeting?" He questioned, confusion etched in his features, he looked down at his watch before looking back at her.

"Ha, no." Michonne answered nervously, looking him over herself as she worked hard not to wuss out. "I was not too far and I was wondering if you wanted to grab lunch or something, if you're not too busy that is. I wouldn't want to keep you from something important." She couldn't stop herself from rambling.

Rick's eyebrows shot up in surprise, which didn't alleviate her anxiousness. But a timid smile appeared on his lips.

"Yes, I would love to."

"Oh great!" She let out, unable to hide her excitement "My treat!"
