After his meeting with Michael, God took some time to decide what to do next regarding Chloe Decker and her child. Then he went in search of Lucifer. He decided it was best to be upfront with Lucifer about what he was going to do. He decided that if he wanted to regain his son's trust, he had to start with keeping him informed regarding things that concerned him. Yes, Lucifer would likely be upset with what he'd decided to do, but less so than if God had tried to hide it from him until it was over. Besides, he could use his son's advice on what to do with the child, as he still wasn't a hundred percent sure on that yet.

God found his son in the living room. He was laying on the couch with a book in his hands. "Son, can you put that down for a bit, please. I need to speak with you."

Lucifer sighed in annoyance, but reluctantly closed the book and put it on the table before sitting up.

"Thank you," God said before sitting down across from his son. "I have come to a decision that I believe you should be aware of."

"Is this about the detective?" Lucifer asked with some nervousness in his voice.

"Yes, but it's not what you're probably thinking. I have not decided on her punishment yet. As I said, I will not be delivering her punishment until I reveal myself to humans, which will take some time. However, I do need to do something about her now. She tried to kill Michael when he went to see her," God explained.

Lucifer was hit with conflicting emotions. He wasn't a fan of his twin, but it bothered him a little to hear someone had tried to kill him. He immediately pushed those feelings aside. Michael could be lying about it, but even if he wasn't, the detective couldn't have hurt him. "The detective can't hurt Michael. He's not vulnerable around her."

"That's not the point Sa… Lucifer. She tried to do it, just as she did you. Not even my wrath was enough to deter her from trying to murder one of you," God said.

"Michael was in her home. For all you know, he tried to hurt her. Michael isn't fond of humans," Lucifer said. Truthfully though, he wasn't sure he believed that was the case. He wouldn't put it past Michael, but he also knew the detective was capable of trying to kill an angel without provocation. She proved it when she tried it with him, and she'd apparently been planning on something similar with Amenadiel.

"He says he did not."

"He could be lying. He lies all the time," Lucifer pointed out.

"He does, but I know when he's lying. I believe Michael," God said.

"Well, it wouldn't have happened if he hadn't gone there. He wasn't supposed to be there," Lucifer said. Again, he had mixed emotions. It had unsettled him that someone tried to murder his brother, and even more so that it had been the detective, but he also didn't want his father doing something worse to her. Plus, he did sort of think it was partially Michael's fault for going there.

"He wasn't, but he went there because he was angry about what she did to you," God said.

Lucifer scoffed at the very idea that Michael would try to take revenge on his behalf. Michael hated him. Lucifer could barely remember a time when his twin didn't hate him. He would probably rejoice if he'd been killed.

"Is it so hard for you to believe that your brother would be upset by someone hurting you? I know you have your differences, but you're still brothers. Despite your need to defend Chloe Decker because she's gotten so far into your head, I can see that you are not okay with the fact that she tried to kill Michael. Is it so hard to believe that your brother would have a similar reaction regarding you?" God asked. He had no doubt that if anyone else had tried to harm Michael, Lucifer wouldn't even be trying to defend the person. It was just that he was still very messed up by that woman.

Lucifer didn't respond to his father's question. He just remained silent.

"I actually have a bigger concern than simply wanting to punish her for trying to harm another one of you. Michael told me that her child was present, and that the girl could've been hit by the bullet.

Lucifer's eyes flashed with fear. "Is she alright?"

"Yes. Michael said he pushed her out of the way to make sure she wasn't harmed. However, this proves that this human is becoming unhinged. The child isn't safe with her. I'm going to have to remove her now," God said. He wasn't going to leave a child his son clearly cared for in jeopardy. He needed to remove her from the situation.

"Dad, no. She would never intentionally harm her own child. Even if she hates me and wants to get rid of celestials, she loves her child," Lucifer said.

"I don't doubt that, son, but that doesn't matter if she's incapable of thinking of the child's well-being. She fired that shot without considering the fact she might hit her own child," God said.

"It was a mistake. I'm sure it won't happen again. Don't do this. The child would be hurt by it," Lucifer said.

"Probably, but not as much as she might the next time her mother fires a gun with her in the room. Lucifer, the child was always going to be removed. I'm just speeding up the process. I will not have a child raised by a parent like her, not anymore. Taking charge of humans will include making sure children are raised by competent parents," he said.

"Why do you even care? You hate humans. You don't care what happens to them," Lucifer said bitterly.

"That's not true. If it were, I wouldn't bother taking their free will. I'd simply erase them. I still want what's best for humans. I just don't believe they are capable of achieving that on their own. They need to be shown the correct way. Now, I'm sorry you're upset, but I am removing the child tonight for her own safety. However, I would like your opinion on what I should do with her. I know the child has a father in his life, though I'm not all that impressed with him either," God said. He knew a little of Daniel Espinoza. He was a former corrupt cop, who also had dealings with another cop that had killed his son several years ago. The whole Malcolm Graham situation had God seething when it happened, especially at one of his other sons. The only reason Amenadiel escaped punishment was because he effectively punished himself, and he showed remorse when God finally confronted him about it a few months ago.

Lucifer snorted in response. "Daniel can certainly be a douche at times. He's turned his life around for the most part, but he hasn't handled his girlfriend's death well. I'm not sure he could handle taking care of the child on his own now, but what other option is there.

"Well, the other thing I was considering was bringing her here, at least until I have humans under control and can find a suitable guardian," God said. Obviously, he couldn't do that for every human child, but this child was important to his son. He would do it for him if he had to.

"Really? You'd do that?" Lucifer asked surprised. No living human had been there before, except for Linda, but that was a special situation. He would at least be able to help the child if she was in Heaven. If she'd let him anyway. For all he knew, she'd hate him when she found out he was really the Devil, and for being taken from her mother.

"Yes, if you think it's best. Do you?" God asked.

"I don't know. She'd probably rather be with her father," he said.

"Alright. I'll have to decide after I talk to the child," God said before standing up.

"Can I go with you? Please. I can help her understand what's happening," Lucifer said. He was sort of afraid to go. Not only did he not want to see the detective, but he was afraid the urchin would hate him. However, he wanted to do whatever he could to make this as easy as possible for the child. Plus, he could try to find out exactly what happened between the detective and Michael. Maybe if there were extenuating circumstances, he could get his father to change his mind.

God was hesitant. He did not want his son anywhere near the Decker woman. Unlike with Michael, she did have the power to hurt Lucifer. However, he made a good point that it would be easier on the child if he was there. Plus, it just might do Lucifer some good emotionally to go. "You will not leave my side unless I say otherwise. I do not want you in touching distance of that woman. And if I tell you to do something, I don't any arguments whatsoever. Is that understood?"

Lucifer immediately nodded his head. "Yes, Father. I promise."

"Very well. We will be leaving within the hour," God said. His son's word was good enough for him. Lucifer would never break it if it was within his power.

Lucifer got up and headed for his room.
