Chapter 10

Summary: Harry tries to face his demons and Sean and Nick learn that it is a bad idea to get on Rosalee's bad side.

Notes: I seriously think people are going to stop reading my notes…if they read it that is…because every time I write a chapter I seem to report on one thing or another.

So, the latest news is that they broke into our house. Luckily my pc wouldn't fit through the small window they tried to break into. There is some evidence that they burned something to make us sleep because we were in the room right next door and the doors were even open, but none of us woke up at that time.

I woke up for work and saw that one window was open and that the latch was broken. I must admit that I seem to be a lot calmer than I suspect I should be, given that the night could have turned into one of those murder scenes if they had any intentions other than stealing a few things.

They also managed to steal my USB with the chapter that I had been working on. One review requested longer chapters so I was trying to make it double as long. Anyway, the people have been returning for the past few nights now that they checked the place out and we can often hear them walking on the roof. I am now waiting for them to have the guts to come in again lol, a slingshot with marbles should work.

Also, depending on whether my boss is going to try and drown us with work again this week, I might try and upload another chapter a bit earlier…but only if I can find the time to write it.

Rosalee

She frowned as she checked the messages on her phone, before rechecking them again. Harry never took a day off and now he was suddenly saying that he would be absent from the shop for three days. This wasn't normal for him, and she was sure that something had happened the previous night.

She thought for a moment before scrolling down through her contacts and calling Nick. If anything, he would know what had happened.

Nick

He pulled out his phone as it rang and checked the caller ID. A part of him wanted to put the phone down and act as if he hadn't heard it, but he knew that if he did that, then Rosalee would pitch up at his work.

He warily answered it and it felt like she could sense his trepidation because she was quiet for a moment before a sigh sounded through the phone, "What did you do?"

For a moment he stared at the phone in surprise before his mind seemed to process her words, "How did you-?"

She didn't give him any time to finish his sentence before she cut him off, "Because you usually greet people when you pick up a call and you didn't this time, meaning you either did something that you know I may get angry about, or something is wrong. The question now is whether it has something to do with Harry taking three days off when he usually comes into work even during his off days."

Nick frowned, he'd previously wondered whether there might be a price to using the power of the Original Wesen, even through a necklace. What if it had negatively impacted Harry in some way and he now had to stay home to recover? Surely the man wouldn't stay home because of what Sean said, would he?

He glanced over at Sean's office, only to see the man watching him with a slight frown on his face. Maybe he should drive out there and check up on Harry, but how would he be able to do that without the Captain demanding to come was something he didn't know.

A sigh sounded out over the phone, "What happened, Nick?"

Nick frowned as he felt a slight heat creep up his collar at the memory, "Harry showed us something and I was a little bit skeptical about it and ended up saying something careless. Then Harry said he could help the Captain and afterward, Sean ended up thinking it hadn't worked and he also said a few careless things, which ended with both of us finding ourselves removed from the building in mere seconds."

There was a long pause over the phone, "Wait, Harry could do that- NO! You two are IDIOTS! How can you do something like that and then just leave it at that? Did you even try to contact him this morning?"

Nick grimaced as he shook his head, and Rosalee seemed to take the silence for the resounding 'no' it truly was, "Aren't the two of you supposed to know how to work with people? Ugh, never mind. What is more important now is that you two find a way to apologize. I may not have known him long, but it is very clear that something bad happened in his past so he has enough to deal with without you two idiots screwing things up!"

Nick resisted the urge to stand at attention and to shout, 'Yes, ma'am!', as he started clearing his table for the day. Sean seemed to sense the impending doom because he warily stepped closer just as Rosalee said, "Maybe pick up some flowers or chocolates on the way."

The way the Captain froze at Rosalee's words would have been extremely funny if he also hadn't frozen in much the same way.

He decided that it was time to put the phone down before Rosalee could say anything else, "Will do, I have to go now. Tell Monroe that we will be around later, bye."

He pressed the red button before she could say anything else, then turned to Sean, who seemed to have slightly thawed out, though his body still showed a stiffness that hadn't been there before Rosalee's words, "I am going to check on Harry, apparently he took three days off, which isn't normal for him."

Sean's gaze sharply focused on his, "You think that something is wrong?"

Nich shrugged, "I don't know what to think, but being able to do something like that has to come at a price, right? Something about certain beings being built to withstand their own strength and power. Logically, if it was that easy to channel the original Wesen's power, then there would be a lot more people running around with those kinds of abilities."

Sean nodded and turned on his heel to walk towards the door, when Nick didn't follow, he turned and faced him, "I have an error that needs to be corrected so we might as well go together, seeing as we have the same destination."

Nick nodded and followed the Captain to his car. There wasn't really much else that he could do except play mediator between the two men if it was required, but mostly he was worried about what they would find.

His gut told him that something was wrong and it hadn't steered him wrong yet, well, mostly not yet.

Sean

Sean subtly clenched his hands on the wheel as he drove. Ever since Harry healed him, he had been able to sense the energy in the very air around him, as well as inside him.

It took some getting used to, but he soon realized that the energy counted on his emotions to fuel it, before throwing it back in the form of visible energy. It also allowed him to sense things that shouldn't be possible for even a Zauberbiest to feel, and that was making him anxious.

Logic told him that it shouldn't be possible, but the proof was there, and at this very moment, he could feel that something was very wrong.

He turned to Nick, "Rosalee mentioned something about Harry's past, contact HQ and find out what they know about him."

He saw Nick frown and immediately shook his head, "We do not need to pry deeply, I just want to know why I have never heard of his family before. Even if they are hidden, there should at least have been some indication about them."

The Grimm looked, well, grim as he took out his phone to request the required details, but his eyes widened as he scanned the information on the page and Sean had to fight to keep his attention on the road ahead, "Well? What does it say?"

Nick was silent for a long moment before he looked up, "The only Harry Potter that fits the image and description only seems to appear on the day we saw him at the precinct, but how is that possible?"

Sean frowned, "Could it be a glitch in the system? Maybe he simply arrived in the country on that day."

Nick shrugged, "That may be, but the database isn't picking up any information on him." The phone beeped with a new message and Nick slowly set the phone down on his lap, "The other countries also have nothing on him…what if he is under witness protection? His new identity should still be in the system though."

Sean gripped the steering wheel even harder as he floored the gas, "If that is the case then we may have just revealed his location to his enemies. People that require witness protection are often those that got on the wrong side of powerful individuals, and those individuals usually have spies in place."

Nick set his jaw and sent another message before he put his phone away, "Monroe is going to call in a fake sighting, Sargeant Wu will take it and of course 'accidentally' forget to add in Monroe's name."

Sean nodded his head and focussed his attention back on the road. They were almost there, but the road suddenly felt extremely long.

…-…-…-…

They finally managed to arrive and Sean was surprised to see a shimmering dome of energy covering the grounds of the castle. He hesitantly drove through it and sighed in relief as they encountered no problems.

They stopped at the door and made their way to it, but nothing happened as they rang the doorbell. Sean tried again, but it was clear that Harry wasn't there. His frustration stirred the energy inside him and Nick jumped back as a ball of fire formed on his hand.

Sean's eyes immediately widened and he tried to shake the fire off, expecting his gloves and sleeves to catch fire, but the fire did not spread. Instead, it launched from his hand and struck the dirt, leaving both Sean and Nick staring at the scorched earth in shock.

Nick slowly turned to him, "Have you always been able to do that?"

Sean shook his head, but his answer was cut off as Nick's phone rang, and a frantic Rosalee started to speak rapidly from the other side.

Sean picked up the words 'Harry', 'van', and 'kidnapped' before he stormed back to his car. He vaguely registered that Nick was right on his heels and he waited for the passenger door to slam shut before he slammed down the gas and tore out of the lot.

He knew exactly who had taken Harry, and he was not happy.

…-…-…-…

They made it to Harry's apartment in record time and the car had barely stopped when they tore into the building to find multiple police officers taking photos of the chaos in the house.

Something in Sean itched at having them go through Harry's stuff, but they were only doing their jobs and it would look suspicious if he interfered. One of the officers silently handed over a report and Sean nodded to him before he walked out of the apartment.

Nick followed him with a frown, but Sean held his hand up for silence and motioned to the car. Once there, he turned to Nick and showed him the report, "As we expected, my brother had Harry. Apparently, he tried to make him an offer to spy on me, but Harry refused."

Nick frowned, "So that guy was…"

Sean nodded, "An informant. One that has been deep undercover in my brother's organization so far. Come, he also gave the location of the place that Harry is being held in, we should…" He frowned as a flash of movement on the backseat caught his attention, but before he could do more than turn around, the sickly smell of chloroform filled his senses and that was the last he knew.

Harry

Harry swore loudly as he slowly woke up. He didn't recognize the cell around him and he cursed himself for his inattentiveness. His mind had been a mess when he returned to his apartment to gather a few things. He never expected to step in and find people rummaging through his things. Somehow his shields had been removed from the building.

He'd stepped forward and started gathering his energy to make them leave but before he could move more than one step, he felt a knife at his throat and a deep voice whispered in his ear, "The Prince wants to meet you." He'd been about to answer with something sarcastic when he felt a harsh blow over the head and knew nothing more until now.

The pulsing headache suddenly made sense and he grimaced as he slowly lifted his hand to determine the extent of the damage. His hand encountered a patch and he frowned when the sound of a door opening echoed through the place he'd been placed in.

He turned to find a man standing on the other side of the cell and given his 'royal' appearance, it didn't take him long to figure out that this was Sean's half-brother.

The man smirked and Harry squashed the urge to torch him right there and then. He knew he had a concussion and that it would affect his magic, so instead, he glared at the man, "Who are you? What do you want?"

The man chuckled, "As if you truly do not know. My reports say that my 'brother' has taken quite a liking to you, so I am here to give you a choice. Spy on my brother for me, and report everything he does and where he goes."

Harry pretended to consider it for a moment as he tried to play for time, "What's in it for me?"

Eric froze for a mere moment before he frowned as he stared at Harry. A moment later manic laughter echoed through the cells and a bloodthirsty grin spread across his face, "Well, for starters, you get to live…"

He was about to say something else when a guard stepped forward and his eyes widened in shock and anger, "You imbeciles! Bring him in here! Father cannot find out about this!"

A moment later, two unconscious figures were dragged into the room and Harry's eyes widened in concern as he recognized Sean and Nick. He didn't even fight as the guard held him at gunpoint and unlocked the cell, before half-throwing the duo into the cell with him.

Eric seemed to suddenly be in a hurry as he shouted out orders to have tapes wiped clean and witnesses silenced, but Harry didn't dare move until he knew the coast was clear. A small sweep of the room revealed that it didn't have any cameras and he gritted his teeth as the pounding in his head became worse the moment he laid a hand on each of the men to try and cleanse their systems.

A drug-induced sleep would be the only explanation for why the two men were out cold without any injuries on them. Sean's eyes were the first to open, closely followed by Nick and with the way they clenched their eyes shut once more, Harry assumed that they had a killer headache as well.

Sean noticed him and tried to sit up, but Harry placed a hand on his shoulder, both to steady himself as dizziness assaulted his senses, and to get the Captain to calm down. Luckily Nick seemed to know better than to stand immediately because he simply blinked at Harry in surprise before his gaze narrowed as he noticed the gauze on the back of Harry's head.

Harry shook his head, "I'm fine, or I will be as soon as we get out of here."

Sean frowned as he lifted his hand and seemed to concentrate, but nothing happened and he gave a growl in frustration, "Why won't it work?"

Nick noticed Harry's confusion and pointed toward the Captain's hands, "Your ritual gave him a few unique abilities it seems. Earlier he made a fireball." He grimaced as he looked around the cell, "Though it would seem we can't make use of it at the moment."

Harry bit his lip hesitantly before he set his shoulders in determination, "Give me some time to recover and I might be able to get us out."

Sean tilted his head in question as Nick stared at him in confusion, "Do you have the necklace with you?"

Harry smiled wryly, "I may not exactly have been truthful about that, the necklace merely had protective magic on it."

Sean's eyes widened at the word magic, "You mean…?"

Harry grinned evilly, "Yep, your brother is about to have a very bad day."
