After a couple of hours passed of them driving through the desert's dunes, Lin Ye saw Laterano just ahead of them.
When he saw the gate that led to the city, Lin Ye knew this was one of the most influential places in Terra. Their gates were like Lungmen, the gates to Yan, a nation that lived for years to get where they were now.
As Steward was talking with the people guarding the entrance of the city, Lin Ye used this time to look up more about this city.
After doing some quick searches on the internet Lin Ye's opinion of the city changed. At first, he thought they were Italy but after reading about them they were too small to be considered that. Lin Ye remembered that back on Earth, there was a small city that was near Italy that was similar to how Laterano.
It was the size of a city and its name started with a "V"
What was their name again?
Va-. Vato?
However, Lin Ye did not have the time to think about this as Steward was now driving through the streets of Laterano. Lin Ye looked through the window and saw how the city looked.
There was one thing Lin Ye could say about them based on what he is looking at now.
Lateran seemed to have an obsession with the colour white.
Their building seemed to follow some type of rule or something as they were all coloured the same shade of bright white. Although there were some variations about them, like a couple of splashes of colour here and there, Lin Ye's eyes were starting to get hurt with how white this place was.
It was… too clean.
Strange but this was not his world so who was he to judge their strange tastes in architecture?
Tearing away from the odd choice of buildings, Lin Ye saw people walking inside the streets. As he expected, Lin Ye saw a lot of halos flying above people's heads as they went about their daily life. Not saying Sankta were the only race that he saw in the city. Like Adnachiel.
Lin Ye's eyes did see people that shared similar traits with Olivia and Ptilopsis. Some cat and dog ears could be seen in the river of people.
Looking away from the crowd, Lin Ye also noticed something odd about Laterano.
As with the colour white, they were also obsessed with sweets.
Maybe even more with how many stores were here.
No matter where he looked, there would be at least one store that was related to dessert type of things.
"So this is Laterano, huh?" He said to himself as his eyes were still on the people that they were driving passed, "Seems like how you said it would be. They sure do like their sweets."
Adnachiel knew that Lin Ye was talking to him as he chuckled at his comment.
"Glad that you think so, Doctor." He hummed as he went to the outside side of the city, "I like to think that most people from Laterano are kind and cheery people."
Lin Ye went to the pole that he knew was from this city. If what Adnachiel told him was right, that meant that Exusiai was what most people in this city were like.
That was a concerning thought. A really concerning thought
Don't get him wrong, Exusiai was a good person.
However, she did have some flaws in her. She had some type of switch in emotion. One second, she was her bubbly self and then – Boom – Exusiai was angsty all of a sudden. It was tough for Lin Ye to navigate through her mood swings. That and she did try to scam him the first time they met.
Then his mind went to the other person that he knew.
Mostima.
Just remembering her name made him feel confused. She was kind and cheery as well. However, she had horns like Sarkaz. At first, Lin Ye thought that she had parents from different races, but he was wrong. Sanktas can fall. And Mostima was one of them. Although that was the case, that was not the only reason why Lin Ye was so confused about this girl.
Her presence.
Something about her presence makes him feel… weird.
Not bad weird.
Confused weird.
Every time Lin Ye was to talk with her, it felt like he was with a long-lost friend. He felt like he could be Lin Ye and not some persona that he came up with to deal with the world. Lin Ye, the sick kid that just wanted to have a normal life.
It was… nice.
To just be himself again for once. Nice to feel like he could speak with someone he knew a lot about without using his persona.
But that is what makes it strange.
Why was he like that around her? What makes him feel so comfortable around the fallen? Why does he feel...safe when he is with her?
He wanted to ask more about this to her at Lungmen but she just left, no words spoken, and only a photo was what he got instead.
However, now was the chance to understand why this was the case. He will meet her and ask her.
As he was busy with his thoughts, the divine being beside him was as, or maybe more, curious in Laterano as she stared at the city outside the window beside her.
After getting an eyeful of what the city could offer to her, Nian glanced at Lin Ye and tugged on his sleeve.
"Gege, does this place have an Emperor?" Nian asked him.
Lin Ye stopped his thought and glanced at her. He smiled at her.
"Not really. They have a Pope," Lin Ye explained, "If the Emperor oversees what is going on in Yan, the Pope does that to Laterano."
This only confused her more.
"What's the difference?" Nian asked, "If they are the same, why don't they just call it the same thing?"
Lin Ye nodded at this.
"The broad job description for the role of pope is the head of the Church as well as the leader of the country. An emperor on the other hand had absolute power over everything in the country" Lin Ye explained. Then he looked ahead to the angel of the car, "Am I right?"
Adnachiel laughed at this.
"You did your research, Doctor," He hummed, "You summed it up well enough."
Lin Ye chuckled.
"Well, I am the Doctor," He stated with a smile, "Need to keep my image in check after all."
Nian's eyes narrowed slightly at him after he said this. She did not know why but when he said this, the light in his eyes seemed to dim down a bit.
She became worried, so she did the only thing she knew could help him at the moment, She started patting his head.
The light in his eyes was back to normal when he glanced at her. Lin Ye raised a brow at her when she was patting his head.
"Nian? Is something the matter? Why are you patting my head?" He looked out the window to see his reflection. Looking away from his reflection, he stared back at Nian and pointed at his face, "Is there something on me?"
Nian just patted his head for a few more seconds before pulling her hand back and looking away.
"Nothing," Nian said as she stared outside the window, "Just noticed some dust on your head so I pat it. It's gone now."
Lin Ye raised a brow at how strange she was acting now. However, he learned enough that if a girl didn't want to talk about it, you better just give up and move on for now…It also felt quite nice to be patted on the head, Lin Ye had to admit.
It only took them a few minutes to arrive where they would stay. The hotel that they were staying in was one named Revelation.
It was just not far from where the main Church was. This made the price of this stay to be more than most could pay. The exterior of the building was on the same level as the hotel where he stayed Yan.
They had a fountain near the entrance of the hotel for no reason.
The reaction of the three other men that were in the car was quite amusing for Lin Ye to see.
Their mouth almost fell to the ground and their eyes almost popped out from their head.
Kal'tsit seemed to be using the money that Rhodes Island got to pay for all of this.
The group's eyes were all on him, but Lin Ye just shrugged at them and nudged towards the hotel.
Steward just saved his question for later as they went into the parking lot.
But Lin Ye's amusement did not stop though. It was just getting started.
When they were just in front of the hotel, a group of Sanktas with uniforms stopped them. They told them that they will park their vehicle and carry their things to their rooms.
The three boys glanced at Lin Ye to know what to do. Lin Ye just said to just do their job. With that, they all got out of their car and were escorted to their rooms.
The group was divided into two.
Lin and Nian would share a room while the other shared another. Just as they were about to walk into the hotel, Lin Ye suddenly stopped them.
"I think, I will walk around the area for a while," Lin Ye hummed, "Nian will be with me while you guys go to your room to get comfortable."
The angel of the group nodded at him.
"That's it, that's fine." Adnachiel nodded at what he said.
He and the others had obviously heard some rumours about Nian, so they didn't doubt the combat effectiveness of the only woman in the team.
"If I may sir," One of the employees of the hotel suddenly said, "Can I suggest a place to visit?"
This caught his attention and glanced at him.
"Sure," He smiled and nodded at him, "Any ideas?"
"There is a popular bakery near the hotel," The man pointed to a road, "Just follow this street and you will see it."

"Gege! Why is there no chilli-flavoured ice cream!" Nian groaned in agony as she was reading through the menu in her hand.
This made the people that were sitting outside with them look at the two siblings weirdly. What kind of person wants ice cream to be spicy?
Lin Ye, on the other hand, knew exactly why.
Lin Ye lightly chuckled at her reaction. He glanced to the side at the waitress that looked out of place in this situation.
Maybe he should help her.
"Miss," Lin Ye called her. The girl's body tensed and Lin Ye swore that the halo on her head almost fell off.
"Yes!" She stammered.
Lin Ye chuckled at her reaction. This made the girl embarrassed, lighting her face up red.
"Do you serve doughnuts?"
This distracted her from her slip and nodded.
"Yes we do sir," She managed to show him a smile, "We have a flavour for almost everything."
"Glad to hear that," He chuckled, "You're new?"
This caught her off guard but she still nodded at Lin Ye.
"Yes," She confirmed, "I just started a week ago."
Normally the girl did not bother answering this to any customer. However, there was something about this man that made her feel like it was alright for her to talk with him more.
He felt safe to be around.
As the two of them were talking to each other, Nian wasn't amused at their interaction for even one bit and glared at them. Mostly focused on Lin Ye rather than the girl.
Lin Ye thought about the flavour.
"If you have a blueberry-flavoured one, could I order one of those?" He asked the waitress
"Certainly, sir." The girl nodded and wrote his order down.
She turned to the other customer and was about to ask for her order but stopped. The woman was glaring holes at her now, this made the words die in her mouth and replaced with a worried expression, as a trickle of sweat went down her forehead.
Seeing this, Lin Ye sighed and fished out something from his pocket.
"She will get a sundae," Lin Ye then thought of something. "And can you make a personalised order?" He showed a chocolate bar to the waitress.
It was a warped chocolate bar and he handed it to her.
Lin Ye explained as he handed it to the waitress, "Used this to make her order."
Both of them stared at him. The waitress's worried expression died down, replaced with relief as she finally took the chocolate from him and nodded.
"I will tell the owner," She said with a grateful smile, "I am sure we can make something from it."
Lin Ye smiled back at her.
"Glad to hear."
With that, she excused herself and went back to the store. However, before she went in, she gave Lin Ye a small wave. Lin Ye smiled and waved back. The girl smiled red in the face and went back into the store, mumbling something under her breath that Lin Ye couldn't hear. But Nian heard clearly.
Lin Ye brought his eyes back and stared at Nian. He raised his brow at the look that she was giving him now.
Her face was now blank as she stared at him.
"What?" He asked, confused at why he was being stared at like this by her.
"…"
Nian stared at him.
Ultimately, she stopped and let out a sigh.
"You're dangerous Gege."
This only confused him more.
When he was about to ask Nian to explain, he heard someone behind him.
"You really are a carefree person, Lin Ye."
He knew whose voice this was.
It was the person that called him about Mostima.
Lin Ye turned around and saw a woman with short, red wine-coloured hair standing behind him. Her eyes had the same colour as her hair reflected.
"So you're Mostima's anima gemella," She said with a frown and glare.
