Chapter Seven
With the full moon happening that night, Rosalie laid in her bed, groggy and mad. Niklaus lying next to her holding her tight as she moaned in pain. Tonight, would be Rosalie's first shift into her wolf form.
"Shh, sweetheart, I'm here." Niklaus whispered as his daughter whimpered in pain.
It felt like fire was running over her skin, her blood a boiling temperature. Her heart hammered in her chest as another wave of pain rushed over her. "Daddy," Rosalie whimpered as Niklaus whispered sweet, calming words to his daughter.
Oh how he wished he could take the pain away, but he couldn't. "It's alright, I'm here, daddy's here." He whispered as the moon finally rose higher, the light reflecting into Rosalie's room.
The elves had fortified the room for tonight. He knew she wouldn't be able to keep her control for this night seeing as this would be the first shift. Her wolf having been trying to make the girl shift for years, but unable to fight against the magic.
And finally Rosalie snapped, Niklaus jumped away from her as a screamed ripped from her throat. Her eyes blazing gold as her body convulsed. Finally her wolf was free from the confinements of her mind.
Dark black fur spread over Rosalie's body, as her limbs and bones shifted into her wolf form. With one final scream that turned into a torturous howl, now resting on the bed. Was a midnight black wolf. And around her neck was the necklace holding her mate.
Niklaus quickly shifted into his wolf form waiting for his daughter. Finally she made some huffing noises. The body of the wolf slowly stood her head swivelling around the area, taking the room in. Until her eyes settled onto the other wolf. Sitting right there watching her was her dad. Taking cautious steps Rosalie flopped to the floor. Letting an undignified moan leave her jaw, her dad letting out huffs of laughter.
Niklaus went over to his daughter and helped her stand, teaching her how to walk. After finally getting it down, Niklaus howled. The door to her room opening. He motioned for her to follow, with an excited bark she raced after her dad and spent the night playing.
Finally she was free.
Sadly, the next day was the day she had to leave her family to go to school. The goblins had been helpful over the week handling all of Rosalie's custody. Niklaus now being her father in both the muggle and magical worlds.
Dumbledore couldn't tell her what to do anymore.
Standing outside Kings Cross Station, Rebekah was bawling her eyes out as she said goodbye to her niece the pair having gotten very close over the month. Rosalie would be crying too, but she was extremely tired and sore after shifting.
"I love you so much honey." Rebekah whispered letting her niece go as Elijah whispered in her ear to stop.
"Love you too Aunt Bekah." Rosalie whispered; Rebekah handed the young girl over to Kol. Who did the exact same thing as Rebekah. Elijah was a little laid back but had said he would miss her and their talks.
Finally she was stood in front of her dad. "I love you daddy." Rosalie whispered as she hugged him tightly. "I promise to write."
"I love you too." Niklaus responded holding his daughter. The girl stood back her black hair back, as she wanted to keep her lineage quiet for a little bit before throwing it all in Dumbledore's face. Niklaus of course didn't like that she wouldn't use his name, but he liked the idea of fucking with the old coot's mind.
"I better go." Rosalie whispered as now the tears started showing in her emerald eyes. Tom sending her warm pulses of magic to help her. Niklaus nodded as he watched her head up to the train station.
Rosalie pushed her troll cart through the barrier and carted everything onto the train. She found one compartment with a man in shabby robes slumped against the window, asleep. He looks ill, exhausted. Rosalie eyes the man and looks to the case seeing he was a new professor.
She sniffed around before realising this man was a werewolf, Rosalie relaxed and pulled out a big duvet. She sniffed the duvet, feeling comfort at smelling her families scents rubbed through it. Placing her trunk up onto the racks Rosalie laid down on the seat.
She heard the many sounds of people shouting around her, but she was so tired that nothing would wake her. She made sure to cover her face with the duvet so her 'friends' wouldn't find her.
At some point she was woken by Hermione and Ronald talking rather loudly. Almost letting out a dangerous growl, Rosalie shut her mouth as they peeked in to see herself and the man sleeping soundly.
"Who d'you reckon he is?" Ronald questioned.
"Professor R.J. Lupin." Hermione responded standing very close to where Rosalie slept. Trying to see if it was her.
"You know everything. How is it you know everything?" Ronald asked.
"It's on his case." Hermione answered. Ronald made a noise of acknowledgement before Hermione finally spoke. "I don't think this is her, come on we better keep looking."
When they had finally left Rosalie sat up. She rubbed her eyes with a growl. The two having unintentionally waking her, now she couldn't sleep. She took note of the time and sighed. They were barely halfway there.
So instead of trying to sleep again, Rosalie closed the blinds and sat on the floor, meditating. After shifting she had noticed her craving for blood was a little higher. Thankfully, they had enough time this morning to find some people to snack on.
They weren't innocent people, which was what made it easier for her to drink their blood. As she slowly breathed in and out, Rosalie groaned when she hear Ronald calling out to Hermione saying he found her. I just want some time to myself, Rosalie thought as the two Gryffindor's barged in.
"Rosie, where were you?" Hermione questioned, looking down on her with a raised eyebrow. "We've been looking everywhere for you."
"Yeah Rosie, what the hell." Ronald continued as they both looked at her. Hermione with agitation and Ronald with a leering look.
Rosalie took a breath to calm herself as she stood. Over the summer and due to her transformation, Rosalie's body had matured. She had curves in all the right places, her breasts were a little more perky and her face lost all the baby fat.
"I was sleeping for one and just now I was mediating until you two barged in." Rosalie muttered, a sneer on her face. "Now hush before you wake the professor." Rosalie whispered.
The two looked at the man as he slightly shuffled in his sleep at all the noise. Rosalie gripped her duvet and sat next to the professor while Hermione and Ron sat on the other side. "Now I'm going to try and sleep again so keep quiet." Rosalie growled as she curled into the blanket.
The storm clouds outside looking like dark ghosts, toss sheets of rain onto the scarlet train as it heads north. Rosalie training her ears onto the sounds of the pitter patter. But sadly the pair didn't understand the meaning of silence.
"Rosie, come on, you went missing for a month. Mum was about ready to lose her head." Ronald started. Rosalie sighed in defeat; she dropped the duvet to be around her lap as she glared. "We thought Sirius Black had kidnapped you."
"No, I hadn't been kidnapped, I just went on a holiday alright." Rosalie muttered quietly; having respect for the man who too had suffered the full moon. But sadly he didn't have a choice.
"But Rosie, you aren't safe to be running around like that." Hermione scowled; her eyebrows pinched in aggravation. "Sirius Black escaped from Azkaban to come after you!"
"Yes. And I'm pretty sure it will continue with every year of my life since I'm the girl-who-lived." Rosalie muttered annoyed.
"But it'll be okay, they'll catch him eventually." Hermione finished.
"Sure - Of course, no one's ever broken out of Azkaban before and he's a raving, murderous lunatic..." Ronald starts not making the situation any better when suddenly the compartment rattles. Lanterns flicker. The train lurches and begins to slow. Hermione slides down the seat, pinning Ron against the window. They exchange an awkward glance, then Hermione carefully slides to the other end of the seat and glances at her watch. And a frown makes its way onto her face.
"Why're we stopping? We can't be there yet..." Hermione says. Though as she speaks Rosalie's ears pick up a sound.
She rises and slides open the door, peering into the corridor. All along the carriage, heads look out curiously. Then… the train jerks… the car sways… and the lamps running along the ceiling flicker and... die. One by one. Until all is... Dark.
Rosalie stays on alert as her eyesight sharpens. She looks around as Ronald speaks up. "What's going on?"
Rosalie breaths out and a thin wisp of steam escapes her mouth.
"I don't know... Maybe we've broken down?" Hermione guesses. "Ouch!" Hermione cries out as she looks to Ronald. "Ron, that was my foot!"
"There's something moving out there. I think... people are coming aboard." Ronald whispers.
"Or something." Rosalie whispers her eyes sharpening into a glare as suddenly the car sways violently... rights itself. The metal window trim at Ron's fingertips begins to vibrate.
"Bloody hell." Ronald whimpers. "What's happening?"
A soft crackling fills the car and flames bloom... in the hands of R.J. Lupin. In the shivering light, his face looks tired and gray, but his eyes are alert. Wary.
"Don't. Move." He whispered as Rosalie's eyes go to the door, a hand - slimy and scabbed - a hand of death – grips the half-open compartment door, pushes it aside. Rosalie's eyes glow as she faces the towering, cloaked figure, its face hidden beneath its black hood.
Rosalie softly growls in warning as Professor Lupin comes to her side, he almost falters seeing her eyes and the veins on her face. Just like Nik's, he thought to himself.
Crookshanks' hair rises and as she hisses... The folds of the hood tremble. A chill, rattling intake of air is heard. The flames in Lupin's hands sputter.
Rosalie seeing this instantly turns back to the creature and in a demanding voice, filled with anger and order speaks. "Get out!" She growls, the creature halts sensing the order. Only Death could control them and now the Mistress of Death. Shuddering the creature flew back from the girl.
Leaving them all in stunned silence. Remus looks at the young girl as her glowing gold eyes disappear and her emerald eyes appear once more. The veins on her face gone.
She knows. Was the last thought Remus had as the young girl sat down. What else did she know.
