Chapter Three:

Four months ago, I went to visit Miko in the village as per Rin's request and noticed she was yet again alone, Inuyasha nowhere to be seen. The old Miko moving slower than ever. I noticed that Kagome was very much in fewer spirits than the last time I visited. Inuyasha had gone off with the dead Priestess and he has not mated her but I was sure it wouldn't be long. The Miko would then be very much alone. Everyone had their lives and the one person she believed she would have a life with was my brother. He had let her down in that regard. After Rin had begged for us to invite the Miko and after watching her sad expression, I knew that this might be the right decision after all. She was very powerful, she would make a great alley.

The Miko never complained through the long journey. We traveled for many hours before we broke for a break, and yet the Miko who walked alongside me never complained, We slept on the floor many nights as we wouldn't always find a sheltered area to sleep. And she slept soundly and without protest. It was obvious to me that the Miko was a good traveling companion. One of which I didn't know of until I had her at my party. After many days of traveling, we arrived at my realm at my castle. It has been many years since I have returned.

She looked at the estate with wonder in her eyes and a smile on her face. The castle is magnificent to most youkai out there. I was sure that to the Miko it would seem like a place of myths and stories. Kagome let out a breath making sounds of amazement. I looked over to the dark-haired Miko and noticed the wonder in her eyes."We will be staying here for a time." I lead them to the doors of the castle and ushered Rin in. Kagome followed suit and I lead her straight to her room. She kept up as I walked the narrow halls of my estate. Many Youkai of royalty to some degree would have an estate to call home. I hadn't spent much time here as I was busy with tracking down the despicable half-demon Naraku. But now that the lands seemed calm and rin once again happy to be in my charge, I knew it was time to return to manage the lands.

We stopped outside of her room and she looked up at me. "This is where you'll stay. Rin is in the room beside you on the left and I am in the room beside you on the right." She nodded in understanding. "I was thinking of asking you to Tudor Rin. You obviously have an educational background. I think it wise that Rin learns." I had known for many years that Kagome was educated. When first she encountered me she seemed to me to be more educated than many women or youkai I knew, When she returned from her time beyond the well, she had been more mature, and more sure of herself. As well as more educated than she had been before.

"That's a great idea Sesshomaru. I can for sure do that." I nodded at her reply and allowed her to proceed into the quarter provided. I stopped her in her tracks, asking her exactly what I wanted to ask many times before. "Maybe it would be best for you to learn some combat skills." She turned around and looked directly into my eyes a smile planted firmly on her face. "We can start training tomorrow morning, once you've rested from traveling." Her smile still firmly in place she responded firmly. "I'd love to Sesshomaru." I nodded and began to walk away until she called out for me. "Why did you ask me to come with you here?" Her question caught me off guard, and yet I just didn't know how I really wanted to answer her. She wasn't like others and she had never truly bothered me like most humans did. finally, I answered her after a long pause. "You seemed so alone in the village, and Rin mentioned it would be a waste to let you waste away there on your own." She nodded understanding my answer. "Right." She let out a large breath that she had been keeping in. "To be honest, I am not sure what my half-brother has been thinking. He should have mated you straight away." I moved closer to her and looked down. "I felt it was best to give you a place you could be useful so that maybe you wouldn't feel so sad and alone." My face close to hers, I could feel a tension I had never felt before. Noting I was very close, I got myself together and walked away.

I moved down the hallways quickly, leaving the Miko to do her business in her own quarters. I walked out to tour the grounds of my estate letting my mind wander like it had been doing for the past few months. The Miko was beautiful, I knew that was clear enough. The Miko and my half-brother were always supposed to be together, but as time went on I noticed that Inuyasha had been more interested in the dead priestess. When finally she had departed from this world, Inuyasha started to see sense and began to show the Miko his full attention. Until she had wished the sacred jewel away and the dead priestess was reborn. Kagome had then disappeared for 3 years and then out of nowhere, she was here again. Soon enough I had come to know that she was from the future and the well took her to the past and present when she needed. The Miko was older, mature, and more beautiful. She had gotten out of her teenage body and into a woman's body. Then as she had noticed the dead priestess was back, she had watched Inuyasha start to retreat away from the village and then finally completely barely came by to see the Miko. The Miko quickly become rather alone and without a purpose or anyone to bond with. It came to my realization that she was stuck and no longer could return to her family beyond the well. After many months of Rin visiting the old women and the Miko, Rin had noticed that the Miko was sad and alone. She had then asked me to ask the Miko to come along. Finally, I gave in to Rin's wants.

I moved back towards the estate happy that the grounds were safe and nothing out of the ordinary was a miss. I had other matters to attend to, and then I would be training the Miko before I knew it. I traveled back to my own quarters and let the day fall from my body that Miko planted clearly on my mind.
