Chapter 548 Don't Get Between a Man and his TV
"
Clay took a sip of his beer, his eyes never leaving the TV screen. He didn't love the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; he loved Tom Brady the greatest quarterback of all time. Watching him was a privilege and Clay had vowed to watch every game he played in case he decided to retire again.
Gemma stormed into the family room huffing and puffing. He really wasn't in the mood for her drama.
"I drove by Jax's," Gemma said to Clay.
"Uh-huh," he said. He hoped by not encouraging the conversation she'd get the hint and leave him in peace..
"Pay attention to me," Gemma said sharply standing in front of the TV.
Clay frowned but turned the volume down on the TV.
"I decided to stop and talk to Jax."
"It's about time."
"His bike was there so I thought he was alone. The blonde whore was there so they must have gone there on his bike. I didn't think she would ride on his bike because of her precious back."
"You were going to have to face her sooner or later."
"As later as possible as far as I'm concerned."
"Did you fix things with Jax?" Clay wanted this conversation to be over so he could go back to watching football. Tom Brady was having a tough year with his split from that model bitch and he needed to show Tom his support by watching him play.
Gemma didn't get that Jax was going to eventually find his balls and be his own man. He'd never understood how Jax could be such a badass outlaw but a pussy whipped mama's boy at the same time.
"He told me that he had nothing to make amends for," Gemma said indignantly.
Clay took a sip of his beer and appeared to think this over for a moment.
"I can't think of anything he did do that was wrong. You told his old lady that Jax was your property and Jax kicked you out of the clubhouse. You were lucky he didn't physically throw your ass out of the clubhouse."
Gemma's face flushed with anger.
"And you would have just let him?"
"You are just an old lady. You need to remember your place."
"I am his mother and the president's old lady."
Clay fixed her with an intense look.
"You get that it doesn't matter who the hell you think you are. You aren't a member of SAMCRO and every patch outranks you."
Gemma's lips tightened and she crossed her arms over her chest.
"This is all because I'm a woman."
"That's the way the MC thing works. Now matter how much you think of yourself, you will never be SAMCRO. It's a man's world."
"How could he prefer that blonde whore to his mother?" Gemma demanded changing the subject.
"He prefers her pussy to yours because he gets to fuck hers," Clay pointed out. "You screwed up not by telling Jax's old lady to leave Jax alone, but by getting caught doing it. If you're that stupid, don't come to me for help."
"You are my husband. You should be on my side."
It was a tricky third down and it didn't look good for Tampa Bay. The game and Tom required his full attention. This conversation with Gemma could wait until later or maybe never. That would suit him fine.
"You were wrong. It's about time he became a man. He's been pussy whipped by you for too long," Clay said. He couldn't swear to it but this conversation sounded familiar like they'd had it before.
"I am his mother and I know what's best for him," Gemma said raising her voice. "He needs my guidance."
"Give it time. He's like his old man. He'll never be able to stay faithful. He'll cheat, she'll dump his ass and he'll be your precious pussy whipped son again."
Tom had just thrown an interception and this was partly Gemma's fault for taking his attention away from the game.
"And what if he doesn't cheat? What if they stay together?"
"No one stays together forever. Relationships always end either through death or dumping. Wait it out."
"Jax made me apologize to her and she just smirked at me. The little bitch. I'd like to smack the shit out of her."
"You owed her an apology."
"She told me that if I'm mean to her behind Jax's back, she'll tell Jax. She's a rat."
"So don't be mean to her behind Jax's back. Now get the fuck from in front of the TV."
"I invited both of them over for dinner and he told me they were having dinner with Scarlett's father. I think he's a bad influence over Jax. You need to do something about that."
"All I give a shit about is that you move the hell from in front of the TV so I can watch football."
Gemma put her hands on her hips defiantly. Clay was furious. The other team was marching down the field trying to get within field goal range before the half and Gemma was blocking his view.
"I need to have this conversation with you."
The half ended just as the other team kicked a field goal. Perfect. Just perfect. He'd smack Gemma around a little during half-time and remind her who was boss. That would teach her to get between him and Tom.
