AN: Hey everyone, I have the next chapter here. Thank you for the warm welcome back to this series, it's nice to be writing a storyline of RWBY Characters with Pokemon again. I had a lot of fun making this battle between brother and sister. I was also shocked by the people who did not predict the twist between Summer and Giovanni, I thought it was obvious at this point in the story. Chapter 47 – Silver Standoff
"Go, Eevee!" Ruby said as she sent the foxlike Pokemon.
"Eev!" Eevee said as she appeared ready for combat.
"Go, Weavile!" Silver said as a small deep purple Pokemon with red solid fur on its head and neck, white claws, and a yellow gem on its forehead.
"We!" Weavile spoke as he banished his claws.
Rosa took out her Pokedex and scanned the Pokemon, "Weavile, the Sharp Claw Pokémon." The Pokedex informed, "This species corners prey as a pack, under the guidance of a leader. Weavile displays increased cunning, causing professors to speculate that its evolution caused further brain development."
"Thing kind of looks like a mini-Grimm," Ruby thought to herself, "Yikes, they would be a lot deadlier with more brain development."
"Let's end this quick," Silver said before pointing, "Use Metal Claw."
"We!" Weavile rushed in with its white claws glowing with a silver aura.
"Eevee, Dig!" Ruby responded, causing her Pokemon to burrow into the ground. The sharp claws Pokemon missed its slash as it looked in the hole, trying to wait for an opening. However, the foxlike Pokemon reemerged from the ground behind Weavile, then crashed into him, "Yes, now Swift."
"Eev!" Eevee said before shooting stars from her mouth.
"Weavile, use Triple Axel!" Silver called out.
"Weavile!" the sharp claws Pokemon said before its legs radiated a light blue aura, taking the form of ice-skating cleats. He then kick-slashed the swift while shaking through the arena, "We!" Weavile rushed in with another strike, kicking Eevee, "Weavile!" with one more hit, the sharp claws Pokemon kicked Eevee aside.
"I've never seen a move like that before," Rosa commented.
"I think they're taught in a special part of Galar," Summer added.
"We need to lower its attack," Ruby said to herself, "Use Growl!"
"Eev-" Eevee said as she was about to let out a battle cry.
"Throat Chop!" Silver said as Weavile rushed in, jamming its claw into Eevee's throat.
"Eevee!" Ruby called out as her Pokemon was sent back, they tried to growl. However, the foxlike Pokemon could not make a sound, "That was a cheap shot!" She said in anger to Silver.
"Throat Chop stops you from making any sound-based moves for a while." Silver commented, "How did you manage to get three badges when one of your Pokemon still has growl as a move?" he then signed, "Let me show you a real attack for the late game. Weavile, use Beat Up!"
"Beat Up?" Ruby responded, then gasped as Weavile roared as its body radiated a black aura, then split into four other shadow clones of itself.
"That's a dark type move that can hit each party member on the team, including the own Pokemon." Summer said in a panic, "Which means, it's a five-hit move."
"WEAVILE!" The pack leader called out before rushing in with the others. One of the clones kicked Eevee into the air, while another hit her to the right. Another clone swatted Eevee to the left, while the fourth hit it to the right. The real Weavile then made a cross slash into Eevee's back, sending the foxlike Pokemon towards Ruby.
"Eevee!" Ruby said as her Pokemon barely could stand back up.
"One more like that should do it, use Beat Up!" Silver said as Weavile and the four dark clones all attacked. They all attacked at the same time a plume of smoke covered the area, "Heh, too easy." He said before a heatwave went through the area, "Huh?" Silver said as the Weavile and four clones were pushed back. The sharp claws of Pokemon recovered as the clones faded. However, the smoke cleared to reveal the blazing canine Pokemon, "What!?"
"I switched out Eevee for Arcanine before your attack could finish with its original target." Ruby said as her Pokemon radiated a massive red aura, "And if that multi-hit move you did was a dark type, then you're in for a lot of trouble now! Use Flame Wheel!" Ruby called out.
"AAARRRR!" Arcanine roared as he radiated the power boost from each hit. Then engulfed in flames before rolling toward Weavile. The sharp claws Pokemon could only gasp before getting engulfed by the attack. As the blazing canine Pokemon landed back toward Ruby, his target was laying on its back.
"We…" Weavile said with swirled eyes and a scorched body."
"Yay, Ruby knocked out one of his Pokemon first!" Rosa cheered.
"Wow," Summer said with a smile as she looked at her daughter.
"And now she is set up to sweep with that supped-up dog," Roman said as Silver recalled his Pokemon but had a look of focus in his eyes.
"I underestimated you." Silver said as he got another Pokeball, "But now I see I have to show a bit more effort to fully humiliate you." He said before tossing the Pokeball, "Go, Feraligatr!"
Emerging from the Pokeball was a large blue bipedal alligator with red fines on its head, back, and tail, "Feraligatr!" he said while honing his claws.
"That does look pretty scary, but nothing we can't rush through," Ruby responded, "Use Extreme Speed!"
"AAARRRRR!" Arcanine roared before dashing into Feraligatr, crashing at a high velocity and pushing his target back. However, Feraligatr held onto Arcanine's body, causing the Pokemon and trainer to gasp.
"What, that thing withstood it?" Roman called out, then saw Feraligatr radiate a blue aura, "Uh oh."
"Looks like you put him into Torrent now." Silver said before he pointed, "Use Hydro Pump!"
"Feral!" Feraligatr said before opening its big jaw, "Gator!" he then unleashed a powerful blast of water close range into Arcanine. The blazing canine Pokemon was pushed back passing by Ruby before slamming into the opposite wall. When the water calmed, it revealed Arcanine falling to the ground with swirling eyes.
"W-what?" Ruby responded.
"Now, we're more or less even again." Silver commented as Ruby returned Arcanine to his ball, "But I would say I still have the lead now."
"Tsk," Ruby said before readying another Pokeball, "Go, Roserade!" she said as she tossed out a ball, causing the rose Pokemon to appear, "The foe is weak, use Magical Leaf to finish him off."
"Rose!" Roserade said while shooting the magical leaves from its bouquet hands. The hits created an explosion of impact. However, the dust settled to show a new Pokemon had taken the place of Feraligatr. It was a large red mantis Pokemon, but with a metal exoskeleton.
"Did you think you're the only one who can make a last-second swap out?" Silver asked.
"Who's that Pokemon!?" Ruby commented.
"Ruby, that's a Scizor." Rosa commented, "Remember when I mentioned a Pokemon called Scyther, this is what a Scyther turns into."
"Oh," Ruby responded, "Well, at least I get to see one up closed now." She said as smiled, thinking to herself, "I super want one, it's so red and scythie!" the red hooded trainer then shook her head, "Focus Ruby, we need to focus!" Ruby then pointed, "Use Petal Blizzard!"
"Rose!" Roserade said before dashing at high speed around Scizor, leaving a tornado of pink petals in her wake.
"…" Scizor remained unmoving as the attack had little effect.
"Let's show them real speed." Silver commented, "Use Iron Head!" he called out as Scizor dashed into the petal blizzard, crashing headfirst into Roserade. As the rose Pokemon flinched, the red metal mantis Pokemon reposed his pincers, "Now, hit her with a barrage of Fury Cutters!" he said with Scizor slashing Roserade repeatedly in midair. Each attack seemed stronger than the last.
"Rose!" Roserade recoiled in pain before hitting the ground, landing on her back, eyes swirling, "Rose…rade…" she said as Ruby gasped.
"That Pokemon had no chance against mine." Silver said as Ruby recalled her Pokemon, "Want to give up now?"
"Never," Ruby said as she got her next Pokemon ready, "I see that I need to fight red metal with red metal. Go, Doublade!" the red hooded trainer said as she tossed out her duel red sword Pokemon.
"Dou!" Doublade said as she sparkled upon emerging from the Pokeball.
"A shiny Pokemon," Summer commented, "Wow, she was lucky to find one."
"Use Shadow Sneak," Ruby said as her Pokemon sunk into the ground.
"Bullet Punch," Silver responded as Scizor dashed in, sticking the shadows at high speed.
"Dou!" Doublade emerged from the shadows after being pulled out by the attack.
"Iron Head," Silver followed up as Scizor dashed in.
"Iron Defense!" Ruby called out as her Pokemon glowed in a silver aura, tanking the hit as Scizor jumped back, "You may be faster, but we had withstood any damage you do."
"Oh, you think so?" Silver said as he showed his left hand, "Here's something more to show you the gap in our abilities." He said before pulling down his sleeve, showing a wristband with an odd round stone in it.
"What is that?" Ruby said as she saw the symbol of it being something like a strand of DNA, "Huh?" in looking back at Scizor, she saw a similar stone attached to a band on its left claw as well, "I don't get it." The red hooded trainer said as Silver pressed the stone on his wrist, causing a pink light to erupt from it and the one attached to Scizor, "What's happening!?" Ruby said as the red metal manic Pokemon was encased in a pink orb.
"Oh no, I heard of this," Rosa commented, "Ruby, this is a Mega Evolution!"
"Mega Evolution!?" Ruby responded before the orb shattered, then gasped as Scizor's body changed. His claws her much larger with an almost chainsaw shape to them. The rest of his body was sharper and more vicious in design, "Wow." Ruby said in awe of the pressure this Pokemon had.
"What type of OP BS is this!?" Roman shouted, "How is this allowed!?"
"It's a very specific power up only achievable to a handful of Pokemon species." Summer commented, "It's strong, so much so that only one Pokemon can mega evolve on a team per battle." She then focused on Silver, "But, there are requirements that one would have to meet to achieve such a power."
"Now, let's continue." Silver said before pointing, "Go, use Bullet Punch!"
"Sci!" Mega Scizor rushed in again with a barrage of high-speed punches. This time, the rush down was not only faster, but each hit was much hard.
"Dou!" Doublade recoiled in pain from the barrage.
"Quick, use Sacred Sword," Ruby called out as her Pokemon reposed before slashing with one of the red blades. However, it was caught in one of Mega Scizor's pincers, "Again, use Sacred Sword!" she said as the other red blade was used to attack, but it was also stopped by Mega Scizor the same way.
"Iron Head." Silver said as Mega Scizor bashed its head into the sheaths, let's go of the swords as Ruby's Pokemon was launched back.
"Oh no, Doublade can't take much more of this," Ruby said as she took out her Pokeball, "Quick, Return!"
Suddenly, Silver smirked, "Got you." He said before pointing, "Use Pursuit!" he said with a point as Mega Scizor dashed in with a dark aura, cashing into Doublade before it could be recalled. Ruby gasped with her Pokeball in hand as the gem eyes of the red sword Pokemon swirling. "That's three in a row now." Silver said as he smirked, Mega Scizor returning to his side.
"Tsk," Ruby said as she recalled her Pokemon, "We aren't done yet, go Staravia!"
"Staravia!" the starling Pokemon said as he took to the sky.
"So, that's your last Pokemon?" Silver said as he pointed, "Go, Iron Head!" he said as Mega Scizor jumped into the sky, attempting to crash into Staravia.
"Block with Steel Wing!" Ruby responded.
"Star!" Staravia called out before its wings glowed in a silver aura, then bashed them into the head of Mega Scizor.
"Sci," Mega Scizor scowled as he tried to grab one of the wings with the pincers.
"Dodge it!" Ruby called out as Staravia evaded the grab, "Now Wing Attack!" she said as the starling Pokemon hit Mega Scizor on its left hip.
"Gr, Bullet Punch!" Silver said as Mega Scizor tried to hit with a barrage of jabs.
"Get away with Quick Attack!" Ruby called out as Staravia dashed away at high speed, evading the bullet punches.
"Even at this big of a disadvantage, she isn't giving up." Summer commented with a smile.
"Yeah, Red is kind of a pain in that regard," Roman responded as well, seeing Mega Scizor getting hit by more Wing Attacks.
"Sci…" Mega Scizor's breathing was heavy as his pincers were hanging lowered.
"With that Mega Evolution, its body frame is a lot heavier with those pincers," Ruby responded, "We got you now, use one more Wing Attack!"
"Star!" Staravia rushed down with another attack, hitting Mega Scizor across the chest. The mega mantis Pokemon fell to one knee.
"Tsk," Silver took out his Pokeball, "Return." He recalled his mega Pokemon.
"She didn't knock it out, but as long as Ruby has Staravia, that one won't be a threat." Rosa commented, seeing Silver ready a new Pokeball, "But he still has three other Pokemon left, two of which we have not seen yet."
"Go, Porygon2!" Silver said as he tossed out the Pokeball, revealing an odd red and blue duck-like Pokemon.
"Pory," Porygon2 spoke with a digital voice.
"Porygon2?" Ruby commented, "What happened to Porygon1?"
"Porygon is its first stage?" Rosa said as she checked the Pokedex, "This is its second."
"What does it evolve into Porygon3?" Roman commented, "I swear, things always get worse by the third part."
"Use Discharge." Silver said as Porygon2's eyes focused, causing its body to eliminate an expanding wave of electricity.
"Stay out of its range," Ruby said as Staravia ascended, avoiding the electricity, "Now, Steel Wing," she said as the starling Pokemon rushed in with silver wings and slashed Porygon2.
"Pory," Poygon2 was knocked back, but bobbed forward as it refocused.
"Now, use Conversion 2," Silver called out as Porygon2 scanned Staravia's silver wings. Suddenly, the red on its body changed to a yellowish color.
"Again, what happened to Conversion 1?" Ruby asked, "No matter, hit it with another Steel Wing!"
"Staravia!" the starling Pokemon returned to hit Porygon2 again, striking with a Steel Wing. However, the digital duck Pokemon bobbed far less in the recoil of the hit, "Star?"
"Discharge," Silver called out as Porygon2 pulsated electricity again.
"Dodge it again," Ruby called out as Staravia flew high. However, the pulse wave reached further than before, "What?"
"Star!" the starling Pokemon screamed as he was enveloped by the discharge, then fell from the sky while sparking.
"Conversion 2 changes my pokemon's type to one resistant to the last hit they received by my opponent." Silver explained, "Since it was a steel-type move, it changed Porygon2 to an electric type. Now your move doesn't do any damage compared to before, and the electric moves I have been stronger."
"Grr," Ruby said before gasping, then smirked, "But if it's an electric type, then I have an idea." She said before taking out a Pokeball as Staravia was struggling to get up, "Return." She recalled her Pokemon before taking out a new Pokeball. "Go Eevee!" she said as the foxlike Pokemon returned.
"Eev." Eevee spoke in energy, but her breathing was somewhat heavy.
"Use Dig!" Ruby called out as her Pokemon burrowed into the ground.
"Is that all?" Silver responded, "Porygon2, use Magnet Rise."
"Huh?" Ruby said as Poyrgon2 glowed yellow. As Eevee emerged to strike, the hit missed as the digital duck Pokemon was floating in the air.
"That move makes it so ground-type attacks are useless." Silver responded, "And you're wide open, use Hyper Beam!"
"Pory," Porygon2 said before creating an orange orb of power, unleashing it all at once towards Eevee as a beam of energy.
"Eev!" Eevee cried as she was sent skidding back, stopped near Ruby, "Eevee…" she said with swirled eyes.
"She's down to one," Roman spoke, lowering his hat, "But it's already over."
"Ruby…" Rosa said in worry, while Summer remained silent and focused.
Ruby recalled Eevee, a soft smile on her face, "You did well out there, thank you." She said before grabbing her last Pokeball, "Go, Staravia!"
"Star!" Staravia spoke, but his body shuttered from the recoil of the discharge, "Star…"
"Pory," Porygon2 remained still.
"My Pokemon has to rechange after that attack," Silver responded. "But it's not like you can hurt it now in your state."
"You're sure about that," Ruby called out, "Staravia, use Endeavor!"
"STAR!" The starling Pokemon called out as a pulse ran through the area.
"Pory!" Porygon2 recorded as fell back from the wave, its body struggling to swing back.
"What?" Silver gasped, "Tsk, Use Hyper Beam again! End this!"
"Quick Attack!" Ruby said as Staravia dashed in at high speed, but just as he was about to hit first, the starling pokemon's body stuttered in paralysis, "Oh no!"
"Pory!" Porygon2 repositioned as it was about to fire its hyper beam. But as it created the orb of power, Staravia crashed into it with a massive explosion. The two trainers shielded themselves from the blast wave. As the smoke settled, the digital duck Pokemon was on the ground with swirling eyes, "Pory…"
"Porygon2 fainted," Rosa called out, "But what about Staravia?"
The rest of the smoke faded to reveal the starting Pokemon still on its legs, its wings limp on the ground near its body, "Star…avia…Star,"
"Staravia," Ruby said with a sigh of relief, but then saw Silver recall his Pokemon then toss out another one.
Emerging as the blue alligator Pokemon again, "Feraligatr!" he said while glaring down at Staravia.
"Star…" Staravia scowled back as he could not lift his wings, but started the wings to twitch, "Star…" Suddenly, his eyes flared as the wings lifted high, "STAR!" at that moment, the starling pokemon's body glowed white. The other gasped as Ruby's Pokemon grew, the feathers on its head changing shape and gaining a reddish tone. The light faded as the red eyes iris shined in the newly evolved Pokemon, "Staraptor!"
"I don't believe, you evolved again!" Ruby said with a smile on her face, then a look of confidence, "Now we got this, get ready Staraptor, use-" she was saying until seeing Silver recall Feraligatr, "Hey, what are you doing?"
"This match is over." Silver responded, "Just look at your Pokemon."
"What are you talking about?" Ruby said before looking at Staraptor. However, she realized something that made her gasp. In running over to her Pokemon, she realized its eyes were still open, but something was off, "Staraptor… Oh, Staraptor. What was I thinking," She said with tears in her eyes as Staraptor fainted while standing up, "You did amazing, thank you so much." The red hooded trainer said as she hugged her Pokemon, "Please, just rest now." She said as his wings went limp, and his eyes closed.
"…" Silver looked on in silence before walking away.
A short while later.
In the Pokemon center, nurse joy handed back the five pokeballs to Ruby, "Here you are, all healed up." She said to the red-hooded trainer, who accepted them all with a smile, "We hope to see you again."
"Thank you," Ruby said before walking back to Rosa and Summer sitting at a nearby table, "So, he already left?"
"Yes, Silver took what he needed from his room," Summer responded, "I'm sorry, he didn't want to say goodbye to any of us."
"I'm not, that Silver guy's a jerk." Rosa commented, then sighed, "But, I'll give him credit, he is a strong trainer. Probably one of the strongest in the league right now." She said with a smile towards Ruby, "So, we have to train extra hard to beat him in your rematch."
"Yeah, it's just," Ruby responded, looking aside, "I need to be careful next time. So that I don't push my Pokemon too far again."
"Ruby," Summer said with a smile, "You truly have your father's kindness." She said with Ruby looking back at her with a smile, "If you are in the league with three badges, I would assume you wish for me to be the final gym leader you challenge. That is what you need to gain entry and face off against Silver again?"
"Yes, but I want to get to the league so that I can find Yang and the others as well," Ruby responded, "I know that's where they will be in a couple of months from now. I can feel it."
"In that case, I accept your challenge." Summer responded, "But you still need a sixth member of your team, as well as some training of your current party." She said with a smirk, and one eye closed, "Because I will let you in on a secret, I have a Mega Evolution as well."
"You do!?" Ruby exclaimed, then smiled, "Wow, you're so cool!"
"So, I have an idea," Rosa said as she hand her hand on her chin, "Maybe we should make your sixth Pokemon something that can Mega Evolve as well."
"I'm not sure about that, after all, you need the stone to make the mega evolution in general, as well as pokemon's stone for it to mega evolve." Summer said before having an idea, "I think know someone we can meet for advice on all of this. They live in a town south of here." She said before smiling, "I just need to make a new batch of cookies for them."
"Oh, can I help you make them!?" Ruby asked.
"Of course," Summer said with a smile, "That would make me so happy."
"Me too, I'll help!" Rosa added on, "And I call eating the leftover cookie dough!" She said with Summer and Ruby giggling.
Meanwhile.
Roman was outside the Pokemon center as he smoked a cigar, "Damnit Red," he said before letting out a plume of smoke, then sighed, "Oh well, I guess that kid will have to learn his lesson another day." The orange-haired criminal said before he looked over at Anabel approaching, "Boy, did you miss a show." He said with a smirk, "Hope that call was important."
"I was speaking with Looker." Anabel said as she walked over, "He still has not located the exact position of the other four girls." She then crossed her arms, "He is following a lead now on someone who resembles one of them."
"Vague, but okay." Roman spoke, "Was that all?"
"He also informed me of someone else in the area for me to locate," Anabel said with a sigh, "Someone I should take you along with for backup."
"Really? You need my help?" Roman said with a smirk, "I don't come cheap."
"Looker said this is part of your debt for wrecking his office and stealing his liquor." Anabel said with half-open eyes, causing him to shrug, "Regardless, he said you would be better at handling this target than just me alone." She said while taking out her phone, then showed an image, "And I would rather we keep this a secret between us."
Roman looked at the image, then sighed, "Of course, what are the odds?" He said before taking one last inhale off his cigar, then exhaling while dropping it, "Fine, you got a deal." The orange-haired criminal said before he put it out with the lit end of the cigar with his cane.
AN: There you go, Silver won the battle this time. Ruby put up an awesome fight and even got Staravia to evolve, but she was still outclassed in the end. She used everything she had, but he was able to counter all with only four Pokemon needed. I had a lot of fun with Silver's team, showing a lot of Gen 2 love, but also updating it a bit more than I planned. Weavile seems a lot better of a fit for him now at this point in the storyline as a starting member. Feraligatr is also the one most assume he has a starter in the games, (even though I hate its spelling). And Scizor was a cool pick, as it lets Ruby see one even though I do not plan for her to have own in this series. Making it go mega was also a way to show how much of a threat he can be, and one you cannot underestimate. And Porygon2 had a lot of cool gimmicks, and the jokes made me laugh when writing. You will have to wait until the tournament to see the rest of his team. For now, Ruby is on a quest to possibly get her final member and may meet some interesting people from a certain starting town. Meanwhile, Roman is helping Anabel track down a mysterious person wandering the area, but he too may encounter something he is not prepared for.
