Joseph was crossing the skies with Dragonite, soaring towards Cianwood City so he could get the Storm Badge. Dragonite was flying slowly so Joseph could withstand the flying speed, as he was riding on his back.
"Woooooooo!!!" He shouted, excited. The speed was great nonetheless. "I am the king of the world!!!"
"I am ordering a saddle, this is too slow!" SmartRotom complained.
"C'mon! Get real, this is great!" Joseph smiled.
"Drago!" Dragonite confirmed with a chirp.
They arrived at Cianwood City, and Dragonite stood at Joseph's side even after he went to the ground. Joseph was decided to go to Cianwood's gym right away, when a Pokémon could be heard.
"Latiii!" A voice said. Joseph looked up. It was... Latias! An old, hooded man was on her back in a saddle. They descended down to meet Joseph.
"Is that you, Latias?" Joseph asked.
"Yes, she is" The old man said, getting to the groud to face Joseph.
"Huh? Who are you?" Joseph asked.
The old man took out his hood, and Joseph was astonished when he saw him.
"Your face...! It looks so much like grandpa's! Who are you?" He asked.
He told him his name and his identity.. Joseph couldn't believe it.
"But... how... why...?" He said, he couldn't believe it.
"Latias!" Latias confirmed the old man's claims.
"But I'm just an old man, waiting for my chance" The known old man said.
"But... why are you here?!" Joseph said.
The old man explained his predicament. Joseph listened to it, and got saddened with each word. Dragonite got near the old man, letting him pet his head.
"You must have felt so alone..." Joseph said after listening it all.
"As I said, I'm waiting my chance. I have a plan to not be alone anymore" The old man said, explaining it afterwards.
"Can't I tell anyone?" Joseph asked.
"You can tell Lance, and only him" The old man said. "After you win Chuck's badge, you may call Latias with this ancient flute"
"Where did you find it?" Joseph asked, getting the flute.
"She gave it to me herself" The old man chuckled. "It's the Eon Flute"
"Alright, I guess" Joseph said, putting the flute on his Bag. "So, I'm off to defeating Chuck"
He said, going away with Dragonite whilw the old man flew off. SmartRotom floated around him.
"Why don't you stop it?" SmartRotom asked.
"He didn't told me how it happened!" Joseph said. "He was so vague about those details, I guess to not let me change anything"
"It is grim" SmartRotom said.
Joseph nodded. But whatever that old man told him... it would not make him not get his dream. So he went into Cianwood Gym, where Chuck was meditating.
"Hi!" He said, to get him to listen to him. "I'm after the Storm badge!"
"Oh, really?" Chuck asked, getting up. "Who are you?"
"I'm Joseph!" He said. "You surely heard about me"
"No I didn't. In fact, this is the first time in a month I ever speak to someone. It was this challenger, uhhh, Piter. He wielded a Mega-Stone, but didn't Mega-Evolve anyone. So weird. Don't worry, though. My training is highly isolated" Chuck said.
So, Chuck didn't heard about Joseph and his Mega-Heracross. He smiled, thinking it would be an easy win.
"How many badges do you have?" Chuck asked.
"Six" Joseph said, truthfully.
"Let's fight! I'll use three Pokémon. Go, Hitmontop!" Chuck said.
"Let's go, Heracross, use Megahorn!" Joseph shouted, getting Heracross out of the PokéBall.
"Avoid it, Hitmontop!" Chuck shouted.
He tried, but it ultimately was for naught, leaving Hitmontop to faint.
"H-how strong is that Heracross?" Chuck said.
"Much more stronger than you think!" Joseph claimed, cocky.
"Machamp, go!" Chuck shouted.
"Mach!" The fighter roared.
"Heracross, buddy! Let's do this!" Joseph said, trusting.
Heracross nodded.
"Her" He muttered.
"Let's megaevolve!" Joseph screamed, activating the MegaStone. "And then use Megahorn!"
"CROOOOSSSS!!!" Heracross screamed, megaevolving into Mega-Heracross. It lunged against Machamp, who could do nothing against it.
"You really *are* strong, huh" Chuck said. "This is no challenge for you, huh?"
"Nope, it isn't" Joseph smiled.
"Alright. I give up" Chuck said. "You are seriously deserving of your seventh badge"
He gave it to him.
"If you allow me... all the other Gym Leaders were advised to give me the greatest challenge they could, when Bugsy gave me the Heracrossite" Joseph said.
"That was on your..." Chuck closed his eyes.
"Fourth badge" Joseph smiled.
"I see" Chuck said. "Well, I hope I gave you enough of a challenge to warm up"
"Yep. Heracross did warm up alright. Now I can defy Clair" Joseph said.
"Beware: She's the strongest Gym Leader of all of Kanto and Johto" Chuck said.
"I'll gladly welcome her challenge" Joseph chuckled.
He put Dragonite and Heracross into their PokéBalls, and took out the Eon flute.
"I need Latias now, he promised..." Joseph said, playing that flute.
Latias came to him, smiling.
"Now it's time you put me in your PokéBall!" Latias smiled. "I'm raring to belong in your team"
Joseph used a PokéBall... and caught Latias. SmartRotom analyzed her, showing that she was level... 80! Joseph was utterly surprised at her strength.
"That means she'll be useful against the whole League" Joseph smiled.
He knew that Clair and the following battles would go hard, harder than before. Suddently, he saw his fanclub running towards him.
"There he is! With his flamant Storm Badge!" Some groupie screamed.
Joseph shouted, surprised.
"Go, Latias!" He said, sending her out. She put on her saddle with her Psychic powers, and Joseph got in her back. "To Blackthorn City!"
And off he went, to the city where he started, in order to challenge his cousin to the last Gym Battle!"
