Joseph woke up, with that void in his heart lessened. He felt disgusted at himself, for not being sad. It was not sadness he felt. It was anger. Because if Joseph was a betting kid, he would surely say that Proton was the one who murdered his parents.

Joseph decided to hunt down Team Rocket and completely destroy that hell of an organization after he challenged the League.

"Are you okay?" SmartRotom asked.

Joseph looked at his SmartRotom... and couldn't help to smile.

"Yeah. Don't worry about it" He said.

"Today is the Gym Battle against Clair, right?" SmartRotom said.

"Yes" Joseph got up. "I gotta go to the gym!"

He went outside of his home and went to the gym. Clair was looking at him, across the room.

"Every Gym Leader has held back, even if they told you they didn't" Clair said. "They see you as a child, and underestimate the strength you wield"

"Ah... thanks?" Joseph asked.

"But I don't underestimate it at all. I just see you have a few strong Pokémon. I'm the strongest Gym Leader, I'll accept your challenge!"

"Let us begin!" The referée said.

"Go, Eevee!" Clair said, sending a strange choice.

"Iibui!" The Pokémon said.

"Go, Ursaring!" Joseph shouted, decided.

"Ursa!"

"Alright, let's go all out from the beggining!" Clair said, making a Normal-type Z-Move. "Eevee, use Extreme Evoboost!"

Some summoned Eeveevolutions gave Eevee their power, which made Eevee augment his power exponentially.

"I'm not scared¡ Ursaring, use Brick Break!" Joseph ordered.

"Baton Pass" Clair smiled.

Joseph was surprised. Eevee made a Baton and returned to the PokéBall.

"Go, Kingdra!" She said, sending out her Kingdra, that grabbed the Baton and absorbed its power, getting the boost of the Z-Move. "Use Waterfall!"

Kingdra hit Ursaring with that enormous power, kicking her into the wall and making her faint.

"Clair broke the rule of changing Pokémon, so Eevee cannot fight any longer. Ursaring cannot fight any longer either!" The referée sentenced.

"Why did you get your Eevee sacrificed?" Joseph said, getting Ursaring on your PokéBall.

"You need strategy and wisdom to win your battles!" Clair said. "I raised Eevee as a sacrifice, getting him the Extreme Evoboost and then grant it to my Kingdra. The sacrifice of breaking the rules and getting my Eevee disqualified is totally worth it"

"Frick" Joseph said, getting his Pikachu out. "Go, Pikachu! Use Zippy Zap!"

Pikachu stroke Kingdra, who didn't even flinch at his attack.

"Pika?!" Pikachu was confused. His attack... it was nothing?

"Kingdra, use Dragon Pulse!" Clair shouted.

"KINGDRA!" Kingdra shot a powerful Dragon Pulse.

"PIKA!!!" Pikachu cried in pain, being sent to the wall.

"Pikachu! Are you okay?!" Joseph asked.

"P-pika...!" Pikachu tried to get up.

"Use Iron Tail!" Joseph ordered.

"PIKA PIKA PIKA!!!" Pikachu shouted, running at Kingdra. "PIKA!"

"Avoid it with Double Team!" Clair ordered.

Kingdra made clones of itself, avoiding Pikachu's Iron Tail.

"Oh, no!" Joseph shouted. "It's too bad... alright. Pikachu, change!"

He sent Pikachu to his PokéBall. Clair grinned.

"What will you do?" She asked.

"Zygarde, go!" Joseph shouted, sending Zygarde out of its PokéBall. "Use Earthquake!"

"Kingdra, Dragon Pulse!" Clair ordered.

Zygarde was sent against the wall, fainting instantly.

"What?!" Joseph was astonished.

"Did you really think you could defeat my Kingdra by brute force with a legendary?" Clair asked. "Don't make me laugh!"

"I'm down to four Pokémon, she still has five..." Joseph said. "That Kingdra... its power is enormous. But I have a way. Go, Latias!"

"Latiiii!" Latias said.

"Huh? Another legendary? Good Arceus, cousin, you just can't stop with brute-forcing your way"

"It's not brute-forcing my way, Clair!" Joseph retorted. "Latias, use Dragon Fury!"

Latias hit Kingdra, who flinched, looking at her.

"Dragon Fury is not a strong move" Clair said. "Are you really ordering Latias to use it?"

"It doesn't make a lot of damage" Joseph said, getting his mind together. "It's a weak move... but the damage it does is stable. Whether is a weak Caterpie or Arceus itself, Dragon Fury makes the same damage nonetheless!"

"Your point?" Clair asked.

"Latias is, like, really fast. Sooner or later, I'm gonna bring that Kingdra down!" Joseph said.

"Not if I can avoid it! Kingdra, use Surf!" Clair ordered.

Kingdra summoned a great wave. Latias avoided the most of it, and used Dragon Fury to chip down Kingdra's resistance while avoiding most attacks. The battle went on and on, until Kingdra was gasping, and Latias was as well.

"Latias, use Fly!" Joseph ordered.

"Kingdra, counter with Waterfall!" Clair said.

Latias flew around, gathered strength, and went direct towards Kingdra, who lunged towards Latias as well. They both hit each other and were sent to their respective walls, fainting.

"Huh?!" Clair said.

"Latias and Kingdra are unable to fight any longer!" The referée said.

Joseph had three Pokémon left. Clair had four.

"Go, Dragonite!" She ordered.

"Go, Pikachu!" Joseph shouted.

"Pi... pika!" Pikachu could fight still.

"Pikachu, let's put all your strength into a move!" Joseph said. He felt his Dragon energy manifesting, increasing Pikachu's strength. "Let's do this, for the team, for our challenge, for grandpa!"

Pikachu felt his bond with Joseph, ever since he adopted him from time and space. He loved Ryuu, but he also loved Joseph. He felt a great surge of power going through him.

"PIKACHUUUUUU!!!" It was like Thunder, but far more powerful and quicker. It hit Dragonite and instantly fainted him.

"This is a new move!" SmartRotom said.

"It felt like... pa! pow! It's a Pika Papow!" Joseph said, excited.

"New move registered as Pika Papow!" SmartRotom said.

"Pika..." Pikachu was panting, still on its foot.

"Go, Dragonite!" Clair shouted. "Use Draco Meteor!"

"DRAGONITE!" The second Dragonite sent the sphere of Dragon power upwards.

"PIKA PAPOW!" Joseph ordered, ready to exploit the hell out of that move.

"Pika... CHU!!!!!!!" Pikachu shot Dragonite, making it faint.

But the sphere exploded and caught Pikachu by surprise, hitting him and making him faint.

"Dragonite and Pikachu are unable to fight any longer!" The referée said.

"Alright! Go, Heracross!" Joseph said.

"Go, Charizard!" Clair said.

They both got their Keystones ready.

"Let's megaevolve!" They said in a chorus.

Mega-Charizard X stared at Mega-Heracross. Joseph noted something: They both were alpha Pokémon.

"Do you like my alpha Charizard?" Clair asked.

"It's so cool!" Joseph smiled. "Unfortunately, my Heracross has something you don't"

"And what's that?" Clair asked.

"Power!" Joseph said. "USE HYPERBEAM!"

"HERACROOOOOSS!!!" Heracross shouted, shooting his Hyperbeam.

"Dragon Pulse!" Clair ordered.

Hyperbeam and Dragon Pulse clashed, exploding in sheer light and hitting both Charizard and Heracross in the process.

"And now Close Combat!" Joseph shouted.

"What?!" Clair asked.

Heracross went as quick as lightning towards Charizard... and hit it with a Close Combat, making it faint.

"Charizard is unable to fight any longer!"

"How?!" She asked. "Hyperbeam should've made your Heracross tired!" Clair said, astonished.

"As I said, Heracross has too much power. During our training, I found out that megaevolution boosts his strength so much, he doesn't get tired from Hyperbeams anymore" Joseph smiled.

"Go, Druddigon!" Clair said, sending out her shiny Druddigon.

"Heracross, come back!" He said. Heracross got to Joseph's side, his megaevolution fading away. He took his PokéBall. "Go, Dragonite!"

"Dragooo!" Dragonite roared, ready.

"Druddigon, use Dragon Pulse!" Clair ordered.

"Dragonite, avoid it, and use Water Dance!" Joseph ordered.

Dragonite flew to avoid it, and made it rain in the gym.

"Use Whirlwind!" Joseph ordered.

The wind was aided by the rain, hitting Druddigon with great strength.

"This isn't enough!" Clair shouted. "Druddigon, go to him and use Crunch!"

Druddigon jumped towards Dragonite and crunched his arm.

"Thunder Punch!" Joseph ordered.

Dragonite punched Druddigon in the face, making him fall to the ground, breaking one of his teeth, which stayed on Dragonite's arm.

"Use Dragon Pulse!" Joseph ordered.

Druddigon's tooth boosted Dragonite's Dragon Pulse, which hit Druddigon and made it faint.

"Druddigon is unable to fight anymore! Clair has ran out of usable Pokémon!" The referée said. "Joseph wins!"

The clouds went away, and Dragonite descended down to the floor, tired and hurt. Joseph smiled, excited, and went to hug Dragonite.

"We won! Good job, buddy!" Joseph shouted. Dragonite winced on his arm. "Oh! Does the fang hurt?"

He helped him get it out of his arm. Dragonite's arm began to bleed.

"We have to hurry to the Pokémon Center!" SmartRotom said. "To heal every Pokémon!"

"See you later, Clair!" Joseph said. "You give me the badge later!"

That very same evening, Joseph and Clair met up in the Dragon's Den. Dragonite was completely healed, and wore Druddigon's tooth, a Dragon Fang as the Patriarch put it, on a necklace to boost his Dragon power. Clair had a Rising Badge.

"So, I fought with all I had, and you still beat me" Clair said. "You are worthy of the Rising Badge"

"YES!" Joseph said, taking a photo with it. "I have the Rising Badge!"

"Yep! I'm uploading this to your social media!" SmartRotom said.

"The Pokémon League Tournament is in half a year" The Patriarch said. "Do you want to train before going there?"

"Are you going to teach me, grandpa?" Joseph said, excited.

"Why, yes. You earnt it!" The Patriarch said.

"YEAH!" Joseph said, excited. "Dragonite, get ready! Because we're gonna train hard!"

And thus, Joseph's adventure is reaching a climax!

So... yeah! One of the hardest battles I ever wrote. I wanted to write Eevee as more than a threat, but turns out Eevee does not learn any Dragon-type moves! I characterized Clair as a mix between the games and the anime, so it might be adequate she's willing to bend the rules in order to get a really big advantage.

Also, this plays with the running theory of Dragon Fangs being Druddigon's teeth, due to Druddigon being one of two Dragon-type that carries it when being a wild Pokémon and the other one, a teethless one, being Dragonair, who besides the Safari Zone, where he's an exotic attraction, and the Dragon's Den, where the clan purposely breed them, can only be found in the wild in the Dragonspiral Tower along with Druddigon.
