Maverick came crashing through the doors of the hospital looking for his daughter. He had got the call from the Admirals that something happened to Sophia, and she was currently at the base hospital. His mind was swirling mostly with guilt at how he had been with her recently, he knew her, and Rooster had sorted their differences and were pretty much on track with their friendship, he had hoped him and Rooster would be able to sort their differences but if anything it had made them worst along with Sophia now having a hatred towards him.

He stopped in front of the nurse's station. "Hi, I'm looking for Lt Sophia Mitchell, she was brought in earlier"

The nurse looked at her computer before replying "She's in room 218, second corridor on the left."

Maverick thanked the nurse and took off down the corridor following her instructions. He found her room and flung open the door seeing Rooster holding Sophia's hand as she lay unconscious hooked up to a few machines.

"Is she ok? What happened?" Maverick couldn't help the flurry of questions that came tumbling out of his mouth. Rooster stood up as Maverick came flying in.

"She's fine Mav, the Dr said she will be ok" Rooster walked over to Maverick and put his hands on the older mans shoulders trying to get him to calm down.

Maverick calmed his breathing and took a seat on the other side of Sophia as Rooster returned to his place.

"What happened? Nobody has told me" Maverick looked towards Rooster wanting answers.

"She was in the Hard Deck, a guy took an interest in her, she took an interest back and they were hanging out. She appeared to be very drunk, me and Phoenix were trying to keep an eye on her, but they went outside without us seeing. We all went looking for her" Rooster could feel the tears coming as he re lived the moment "As we got outside he had her bent over one of the picnic tables trying to..to.." Rooster struggled to finish the sentence.

Maverick closed his eyes putting his head in his hands not believing what had happened to his daughter.

Rooster continued "We all managed to get him off her and, on the floor, Hangman got a few shots in" Both men laughed slightly at that comment. "I got her up and was trying to get her sorted when she started having issues breathing and was convulsing, the guy then admitted to giving her something to loosen her up, I didn't know what to do so I stuck my fingers down her throat and got her to throw the drugs up, it seemed to work as her breathing went back to normal and she stopped shaking. The Dr thinks most of the drugs are out through her being sick but the IV is flushing the rest"

"Thank you, Bradley," Rooster looked up at Maverick as he spoke "Thank you for being there for her, looking out for her, I don't even want to think about what could have happened if you hadn't of been there"

Rooster nodded his head "I'll always be there for her, I spent way to long being wrongly mad at her, I don't plan on leaving her side again"

Maverick smiled, he was so happy the two had become friends again, he felt guilty for years knowing he was the reason the two had fallen out.

The pair sat in silence for a few minuets before Rooster spoke up again.

"Why did you do it" Maverick knew what Rooster was referring to.

"Bradley.."Maverick trailed off

"No come on Mav, I think we both deserve to know why you tried to stand in the way of us both getting into the Navy"

"I didn't think either of you were ready for it and if I'm honest I was scared"

Rooster's jaw hung open slightly, he had not thought he would get any form of honest answer out of him.

"Scared of what?" Rooster asked

"Scared that I would lose you both, Bradley I lost your dad and I made a promise that I would look after you, I didn't want you to go down the same route as your dad but watching you in training I was wrong, your great at what you do, you need to let go of the book a bit and think less but you are a great pilot Bradley and your parents would both be so proud"

Rooster smiled, he'd spent all this time hating Maverick for pulling his papers, looking at the man in front of him, the father of the woman he absolutely adored he understood his reasons. Rooster was just about to reply when the woman next to him started to wake up.

Both men looked down at her, Maverick running to get a nurse.

"Hey baby" Rooster stroked Sophia's head as she came around, blinking rapidly trying to adjust her eyes to the lights.

Sophia fluttered her eyes open instantly wincing at the pain in her head and from the brightness of the lights. She held a hand to her head as her eyes adjusted to the lights, she could feel someone stroking her hair and she saw it was Rooster. He looked really concerned about her, but she couldn't think why, in fact she actually had no idea why she was even in the hospital.

She slowly sat up with the help of Rooster. "What happened? Why am I in hospital? God my head hurts" Soph asked leaning back against the pillows Rooster had adjusted so she could sit up comfortably.

Rooster was just about to answer when Maverick came back into the room with a nurse followed behind. Maverick stood in the corner so the nurse could get to Sophia without him being in the way.

"Miss Mitchell, how are you feeling?" The nurse asked checking the IV hooked up to Sophia's arm.

"Like I've been hit by a bus, why am I here?" Sophia replied to the nurse.

The nurse looked towards Rooster before replying "I'll leave it to your boyfriend and dad to explain, but everything seems ok here, your system has been completely flushed and is looking drug free, it doesn't seem the overdose has left you with any lasting damage I'm going to keep you here for another hour to see how you go and then you will be able to leave" The nurse wrote something on Sophia's chart before leaving the room.

Sophia looked from the nurses retreating form to both Rooster and Maverick, did the nurse say boyfriend? Is that what Bradley had said to get in to her room, she would deal with that later, right now she had more pressing issues to deal with "Can someone please explain why the fuck I have been treated for an overdose, I don't do drugs, oh my god I'm in so much trouble, this is going to get back to the Admirals and they'll take my wings away from me" Sophia went into a rant absolutely terrified. She had no idea why she had been treated for an overdose, she had never done drugs in her life, she knew if this got back to her superiors which it would she was going to lose her wings and get dishonourably discharged.

Rooster took hold of Sophia's hands trying to calm her down "Soph, Soph its fine, you're not in any trouble at all, you didn't take the drugs willingly" Rooster noticed Sophia had calmed but her eyes had gone wide at his words. "You were given them by a guy you met tonight at the Hard Deck. They were date rape drugs; the guy gave you two of them which caused you to have trouble breathing and your body to go into shock"

Sophia couldn't believe what she was hearing, how had she let her judgment go so low that she allowed a guy to drug her. She was snapped out of her thoughts when she heard Rooster trying to say something else.

"Umm, that's not all that happened" Rooster started. Sophia looked at Rooster who was struggling to get his words out as she noticed a tear fall down his cheek and then her eyes drifted to Maverick who was still stood in the corner, she could see he had been crying.

Rooster took hold of Sophia's hand as he tried to figure out the best way to explain the rest of what had happened to her. "What happened Bradley?" She looked at him before turning back to Maverick. "Dad?" She questioned only to be met with him putting his head down.

"Umm, we found you and the guy outside the Hard Deck, he had you pinned to the table out the back, he was.." Rooster didn't need to finish his sentence when he heard Sophia had let out a slight strangled sob after she heard what had happened to her. Roosters heart broke at the sight in front of him, her hand covered her mouth as tears seemed to be flowing from her eyes.

"Did he..he umm" Sophia tried to get out but the tears and sobs wouldn't allow her to carry on. Rooster knew exactly what she was asking. "No, no he didn't, we managed to get to you before he went all the way"

Sophia looked at Rooster with a confused expression on her face. "What do you mean all the way?" Rooster bowed his head; he hated having to relive what had happened to his favourite girl. He looked at her as another tear escaped down his cheek.

"Please Bradley" She begged "I need to know what he did to me"

"Umm, well when I picked you up your dress was around your waist and your underwear was halfway down your thigh, he was dragged off of you by all of us just as he was trying to undo his pants, we don't know what he had done to you before that" Rooster had tears coming down his face freely now, the thought of the woman in front of him being assaulted made him feel physically sick.

Sophia didn't know what to think, on one hand she was so embarrassed that Rooster had to find her in that state, but she also felt violated, she had no recollection of the night whatsoever, annoyed as she felt she needed to know exactly what the guy had done to her before Rooster and the guys showed up. She felt another wave of tears coming, she took the sheet that was covering her body and held it to her face covering it as she sobbed into it. Rooster fell apart at the sight. He looked over at Maverick who had his head in his hands his heart breaking at the sight of his little girl.

An hour later the nurse came back in with Sophia's discharge papers, once they were all signed, Sophia got changed, thankfully Rooster had grabbed her some clothes, so she didn't have to put her dress back on. Once they were all outside Maverick took Sophia in his arms.

"I'm sorry sweetheart, do you need anything" Sophia broke away from the hug.

"No, I'm fine I just want to go home and go to sleep" Sophia headed over to Roosters Bronco where he had the door open ready for her to get in.

"I'll take her home, make sure she's ok" Rooster looked at Maverick who nodded his head at the young pilot.

"Don't worry about training tomorrow Soph, take the day off, I've cleared it with Cyclone" Sophia nodded her head at her dad, she had no intentions of having the day off but she wasn't in the mood to argue with her dad again.

All three said their goodbyes, Rooster and Sophia headed home. The car was filled with silence, Rooster glanced at Sophia who was looking out the window, he softly took hold of her hand, careful not to scare her and intwined his fingers with hers.

"You ok baby?" Rooster asked

Sophia looked from their entwined hands up to his eyes, she loved his eyes, they were the most gorgeous colour of brown. "Yeah, I think so, just tired I guess" Rooster nodded looking back to the road. The drive from the base hospital to their houses wasn't far. Rooster pulled his Bronco up behind Sophia's truck in her driveway, he went round and opened her door, helping her out and up to her front door.

Sophia turned around as she opened the front door looking up at Rooster. "Will you stay with me tonight? I don't want to be on my own" Rooster nodded following her into the house, he set her stuff down on the sofa before following her upstairs. Sophia changed her clothes into a pair of shorts and cami top whilst Rooster shed all his clothes staying in just his boxers. They both climbed into bed, Sophia automatically snuggling up to Rooster.

They had shared a bed together so many times before, but this felt different, he had fallen for this woman and hard. He wrapped both his arms around her whilst she settled her head into the crook of his neck. He drew patterns on her shoulder whilst she did the same on his stomach. The felling of each other's touch felt amazing to them both.

"Thank you for staying with me and for looking out for me tonight" Rooster looked down at the woman in his arms.

"I'm always here for you Soph, no matter what, I'm never leaving your side again" Sophia smiled as he pulled her in and placed a kiss on top of her head." You feeling, ok?"

"Yeah, I'm just annoyed at myself" Sophia turned so her head was on Roosters chest looking up at him, his arm resting on her stomach. "Annoyed that I was stupid enough to go off with a random guy I didn't know, annoyed that I allowed him to do that to me"

"Hey, come on you weren't to know he was an utter scumbag; nobody knew he was going to drug you" He pulled his arm a little tighter around her waist.

Sophia looked up at the ceiling, still extremely annoyed with herself.

"Hey come on lets get some sleep" Rooster moved them both so he was spooning Sophia.

Sophia snuggled back against Roosters chest. This man was doing things to her, she's not sure when it happened but she was falling in love with the man holding her.
