Joseph had waited until the next day. He was fidgeting, nervous, when his grandfather came to the Pokémon Center to greet him while Piter was battling his semi-finals.
"Why haven't you gone to the benches to see Piter?" He asked.
"Because I already know he's gonna win" Joseph said, confidently. "We must settle the score. We are in a tie, three victories each"
The Patriarch seemed to understand. Joseph and Piter were rivals competing to see who was the best. If Piter won the semifinals, they would compete in the finals, to see who's the Tournament Champion and who gets to defy the Elite 4 and Lance, the Champion.
"The finals will be a six vs six. Are you nervous about having to use your whole Team?" The Patriarch asked.
"Nah. It's just how it should be" Joseph smiled.
"Be careful, you seem to get a lot tired when you make a Pokémon go Super" The Patriarch said. "I don't want you to get hurt. Promise me you'll use the Super State sparingly"
"Yeah, thanks for worrying" Joseph smiled.
"I have a last lesson to teach you and Dragonite... and I believe we have time for it. Follow me" The Patriarch said.
Joseph nodded, intrigued by the lesson his grandpa wanted to teach him with so little time.
After learning that lesson and coming back to the Stadium just in time for the finals, which would be against Piter... Joseph was ready to battle.
"AAAAND THE FINALS OF THE INDIGO LEAGUE TOURNAMENT ARE A SIX VS SIX BATTLE WITH JOSEPH AGAINST PITER!!!" The commentarist said. "Both folks have steamrolled their battles with their sheer power, and now they're clashing against each other. What will happen in this battle between two titans!?"
"Ready? Go!" RotomDrone shouted.
"I hope you're ready, because I'm hunting your Dragons! Go, Nidoking!" Piter ordered, getting his Nidoking out.
"Ooh, going strong, are we? Go, Zygarde!" Joseph said, sending Zygarde out.
"Zygarde!" The Pokémon shouted.
"Nidoking, use Horn Drill!" Piter ordered.
"Zygarde, Protect!" Joseph shouted.
Zygarde protected itself from Nidoking's attack. And then Joseph smiled.
"Use Thousand Arrows!" Joseph ordered.
Zygarde shot Nidoking around, making him flinch.
"And now... let us go 100%!" Joseph said, opening the lid of the Zygarde Box. The cells and cores went into Zygarde, going 100%.
"Nidoking, use Horn Drill again!" Piter shouted.
Nidoking hit Zygarde... but it didn't do anything.
"What in the...?!" Piter asked.
"Zygarde's now far stronger than Nidoking, and Horn Drill does nothing!" Joseph said, excited. "Use Earthquake!"
Zygarde used Earthquake, making Nidoking faint instantly.
"Wow! Zygarde is now far too powerful!" The commentarist said.
"How is he...?" Piter said, astonished.
"I trained all the cells as Zygardes 10%" Joseph smiled.
Zygarde disgregated itself and came back to be a 10% Zygarde, with the other cells coming to the box.
"Go, Sylveon!" Piter said, getting Sylveon outside of her Pokéball.
"Zygarde, come back!" Joseph shouted, getting Zygarde inside their PokéBall. "Go, Delibird!"
"Deli!" Delibird said, excitedly.
"Delibird, use Blizzard!" Joseph ordered.
"Sylveon, use Moonblast!" Piter tried to answer Joseph's attack.
The attack hit both of them, hurting them.
"Delibird, use Present!" Joseph said.
"Sylveon, Dazzling Gleam!" Piter ordered.
The gift Delibird took out was an explosive one, so they were both hurt at the same time, fainting both at the same time.
"Delibird and Sylveon are unable to battle!" RotomDrone said.
"Delibird, come back!" Joseph said.
"Sylveon, come back!" Piter said. "You were lucky! Delibird's Present can heal your opponent"
"Yeah, I was" Joseph laughed.
"Go, Latios!" Piter said, getting Latios out of the PokéBall.
"Go, Latias!" Joseph shouted, getting Latias out of her PokéBall.
"Latios, use Dragon Pulse!" Piter ordered.
Latios hit Latias strongly.
"Latias, use Mist Ball!" Joseph ordered.
Latios tanked the hit, flinching a little bit.
"Why aren't you mega-evolving your Latias?" Piter asked.
"Why aren't you mega-evolving your Latios?" Joseph snarked back, smiling.
"I want to reserve myself!" Piter smiled.
"Welp, Latias, use Dragon Pulse!" Joseph shouted.
Latias hit Latios with a critical hit, making him faint.
"Oh! You think you're so smart, eh?" Piter got Latios into his PokéBall. "Mamoswine! Use Blizzard!"
He sent out his Alpha Mamoswine, who used Blizzard against Latias, hitting it strongly. She was within an inch.
"Latias..." She said, softly.
"Latias, come back!" Joseph shouted.
"Don't let her! Pursuit!" Piter ordered.
Latias received the attack, fainting instantly. She came back, fainted, to Joseph's PokéBall.
"Pursuit?!" Joseph shouted.
"I did it! I hunted one of your Dragons!" Piter smiled. "I'm gonna defeat you!"
"Don't be so sure! As I can remember, I'm still dominating this battle! Go, Pikachu!"
"Pika!" Pikachu shouted, excitedly, raring to fight.
"Mamoswine, use Earthquake!" Piter ordered.
"MAMOOOSWINE!!!" Mamoswine used his strong attack against Pikachu.
Pikachu flew away and fell to the ground, fainting.
"Ah!" Joseph scoffed, surprised. "Go, Zygarde!"
"Zygarde!" Zygarde roared, excitedly.
"I won't let you go 100%! Blizzard!" Piter ordered.
Mamoswine hit Zygarde, making him faint instantly. Joseph could not believe it... Three Pokémon of his, down in an instant!
"How will Joseph fare against this turn of events!?" The commentarist shouted.
"Go, Heracross!" Joseph shouted.
"Heracross!" Heracross looked at Mamoswine, raring to fight.
"Mamoswine has defeated Latias, Pikachu and Zygarde!" Joseph warned him. "Be careful!"
"Hera?!" Heracross looked at Mamoswine, amazed. "Heracross..."
"Mamos!" Mamoswine sounded like he was mocking Heracross.
"HERACROSS!" Heracross stated his will to show Mamoswine that Joseph earning his bond with him was better than Piter getting strong enough for Mamoswine to bother engaging with him.
"Joseph! I'm gonna win!" Piter boasted.
"We're going to go beyond evolution!" Joseph shouted, activating his Keystone. "Mega-Heracross, use Close Combat!"
Mega-Heracross, with his boosted power, hit Mamoswine with a powerful Close Combat that made him faint.
"Gardevoir, go!" Piter shouted, activating his Keystone. "Let us go beyond evolution!"
Gardevoir megaevolved as well. Joseph's SmartRotom came out of his pocket.
"Oooh! How exciting! I want to see this battle better!" He said.
"Heracross, let's battle!"
"Gardevoir, do your best!"
Both Pokémon clashed together. They exchanged hits, while Gardevoir was trying to hit Heracross with Shadow Balls and Heracross tried to hit Gardevoir with Power Up Punch. At the end, they both hit each other with their attacks... and fell down, fainting both at the same time.
"BOTH JOSEPH AND PITER ARE DOWN TO ONE POKÉMON ONLY!!! What will happen between these two people??? Who will they take out?!" The commentarist shouted.
"Go, Jynx!" Piter shouted.
"Go, Dragonite!" Joseph said.
"Jynx, use Blizzard!" Piter ordered.
But Dragonite avoided the attack, flying really fast upwards in the air.
"You are really stupid if you believe we're gonna be hit by that!" Joseph said. "Dragonite, use Flamethrower!"
"Jynx, use Teleport!" Piter ordered.
Jynx used Teleport to avoid the attack. She smiled at Dragonite, who smiled her back.
"This reminds me of our first battle, when we met!" Joseph said. "You won that time, but I'll win!"
"I hunted down all your other Dragons!" Piter claimed. "I, Piter, will hunt your Dragonite down, steamroll the Elite 4 AND hunt Lance's dragons down!"
"I won't allow you!" Joseph said. "I'll prove I'm a master! Dragonite, use Rain Dance!"
Dragonite created a storm. Jynx looked around herself.
"Use Thunder!" Joseph ordered.
Dragonite used the attack, shooting electricity to the clouds... and it fell towards Jynx, hitting her with a discharge. But she tanked it out.
"Use Hail!" Piter ordered.
The rain turned into hail that hurted Dragonite's skin.
"AND NOW, BLIZZARD!" Piter shouted.
The hail turned into powerful snow... and hit Dragonite. He tanked the hit, but was within an inch.
"Drago..." Dragonite looked at Joseph, worried.
He was nervous: If he didn't do anything, Dragonite would succumb to the hail and faint, giving Piter the victory. He could not allow that. Then, he thought about something.
"Rain Dance!" Joseph ordered.
The hail turned into harmless rain.
"What are you doing?" Piter asked. "Any attack will make Dragonite succumb"
"I can't... I can't ALLOW IT!" Joseph shouted, determined. "I won't let you win, because I want to win, and I CAN"
He started charging Dragon energy.
"Dragonite, go Super!" Joseph shouted, making Dragonite go Super. "And now, use Draco Comet!"
That was the attack the Patriarch had taught them both earlier that morning. The most powerful Dragon-type attack. Dragonite sent his energy to the skies, to the clouds, and dragon meteors started falling to the sky.
"Jynx, Teleport to avoid them!" Piter shouted.
Jynx tried, but the meteors hit her with strength, making her fall down, fainting. The clouds cleared off, the rain stopped... and Dragonite descended to the ground, panting, tired.
"Jynx is unable to fight any longer!" RotomDrone said. "The victory is for Dragonite! That means... Joseph wins!"
"I... won?" Joseph asked. His eyes brightened after assimilating his situation. "I WON!"
The stadium roared, and Joseph ran towards Dragonite to hug him, while RotomDrone rotated around them.
"You won! You won! You're a Tournament Champion!" RotomDrone said.
"Congratulations!" Lance said, extending his hand towards Joseph.
He smiled at Lance, and went to shake his hand... but suddendly, he dissapeared.
The PokéBalls, the Bag, the Zygarde Box and the Keystone fell to the ground, as Joseph had vanished. Everyone fell silent, surprised by Joseph's sudden dissapearance.
"Joseph? Where are you?" Piter asked.
"JOSEPH?!" SmartRotom asked.
What had happened to Joseph?! He had dissapeared on thin air, leaving his stuff behind!
