Author's note.
This chapter was a long time coming. Now it's Akiza's turn to get the spotlight. In future chapters, you'll see the Manga signer dragons. But their effects will be different to their real would counter parts. Also, in the comments/reviews, let me know what Digimon would make great Synchro monsters for Emily to use. Chapter 22
Scrapes and Scraps
"The next match up is tomorrow", said Yusei. "And that means it's Akiza's turn".
"Who's she facing?" Asked Lily.
"I think his name is Juan Junk?" Wondered Akiza.
"It's John actually". They then saw John was leaning against the wall and standing behind them.
"Okay, John", said Akiza. "I'm looking forward to duelling".
"And I'm definitely looking forward to duelling you, baby" said John as he walked away.
"That guy gives of serious creeper vibes" said Kelsey.
"I heard that" answered John.
The next day.
The stadium was once again packed.
"You think Akiza's gonna be okay?" Asked April.
"Trust me", said Yusei. "She's got this covered".
"Welcome back to the summer cup, with day three of the the first half of the first round", said the MC. "And we have an interesting one for you today. First, it's the scrap king himself, the king of recycling; John Junk". John then walked out onto the field.
"And next, we have someone who you might be familiar with", said the MC. "She's lovely, she's vicious and she has a green thumb. The Black Rose herself; Akiza Izinski". Akiza then walked out onto the field.
"Here it is" said Crow.
Both duelists then turned on their duel disks.
"LET'S DUEL!".
John: 4000
Akiza: 4000
"Since I pride myself as a gentleman", said John. "Ladies first".
"Why thank you", said Akiza drawing the top card of her deck. "I summon Violet Witch in attack mode". Her new monster was a blue skinned woman with long black hair and pointed ears. She wore a purple cloak that had it's sleeves made of leaves and carried a wooden staff.

"I'll place these two facedown and end my turn" said Akiza.
"Very well, my turn", said John drawing the top card of his deck. "Now, I summon Scrap Hunter in attack mode". His new monster was a humanoid made out of scrap. He had a propeller on his head, a chainsaw for an arm and tank treads for legs.

"Next, I special summon Scrap Orthros" said John. His new monster was a two headed dog made from scrap.

"Next, I play the spell, Scrap Dump", said John. "Thanks to this card, I can send three 'Scrap' cards from my deck to the graveyard. So, I send Scrap Goblin, Scrap Beast and Scrap Searcher to the graveyard. Next, I activate Scrap Hunter's ability. I can target one 'Scrap' monster, destroy it and send one tuner to the grave. So, I destroy Scrap Orthros to send Scrap Mind Reader to the grave". Orthros then self destructed.
"And now for Orthros' special ability", said John. "I can add one 'Scrap' monster from my graveyard back to my hand". A card then popped out of his graveyard and he placed it in his hand.
"Now, Scrap Hunter, attack Violet Witch!", shouted John. "Scrap Saw Slicer!". Scrap Hunter then reved up his chainsaw and struck Violet Witch with it, destroying her.
Akiza: 4000 - 500 = 3500
"Why thank you", said Akiza. "Because when she's destroyed, I get to add one Plant type monster from my deck to my hand with up to 1500 defence points". A card then popped out of her deck and she placed it in her hand.
"I'll place this facedown and end my turn" said John.
"And hear I thought that a self-destruction deck was a bad idea" said Jack.
"A what deck?" Asked Kelsey.
"Self-destruction", answered Chloe. "It's a deck that has effects that primarily revolve around destroying their own cards".
"That doesn't sound like good strategy" said Kelsey.
"I draw", said Akiza drawing the top card of her deck. "Time for you find out why you shouldn't play with roses. 'Cause now I activate the Black Rose Garden field spell". The field was soon covered in vines that had purple roses blooming all over them.
"So, you're finally putting on the gardening gloves, huh?", asked John. "Well, bring it on, Sabrina". Akiza cocked an eyebrow at the corny joke he made.
"Well, I now summon Rose Witch in attack mode" said Akiza. Her new monster was a woman wearing a bodysuit with baggy sleeves that was striped red and green. She had green hair and a large rose in it. Coming from each sleeve, was a thorn covered vine.

"Looks like her garden's effect is activating", said the MC. "Now, not only are any monster's attack points cut in half, but whoever summons a monster, has a rose token summon to the other's field".

"I think you mean, uh, oh pellets, I can't think of a good line", said Akiza. "So, I'll just activate my Rose Flame trap card and end my turn".
"Then I'll go now", said John. "I summon Scrap Beast". A dog-like creature made of scrap metal then appeared on his field.

Thorn covered vines then entangled Scrap Beast.

A rose token then appeared on Akiza's field.
"Your little prickles won't matter for long. I now tune my level 4 Scrap Beast with my level 3 Scrap Hunter", said John performing the summon. "I Synchro summon, Scrap Archfiend!". His new monster was a fiend made out of scrap metal.

Thorn covered vines then entangled Scrap Archfiend.

Another rose token appeared on Akiza's field.
"Aw, what the heck", said John. "Attack her rose token, Molten Metal Breath!". Scrap Archfiend then fired a beam of molten metal from his mouth and it struck one of Akiza's rose tokens. But, it wasn't destroyed.
Akiza: 3500 - 550 = 2950
"Why wasn't your monster reduced to a molten pile of waste?" Asked John.
"Because my rose tokens can't be destroyed in battle", explained Akiza. "So, it looks like my plants aren't going anywhere".
"So you bought yourself some more time", said John. "I activate the card, scrap explosion. Thanks to this trap, I can not only send a 'Scrap' card from my hand to the graveyard, to destroy the same type of card on the field. So, I send Scrap Kong to the grave, to destroy your witch". Rose Witch then self destructed.
"I'll end my turn" said John.
"Man, Akiza's gotta do something", said Crow. "She's almost down to half her life points".
"She needs to get Black Rose Dragon out" said Lily.
"I wouldn't recommend it" added Chloe.
"Why not?" Asked Leo.
"Because if summons Black Rose Dragon", answered Chloe. "She'll destroy every card on the field, that includes Black Garden".
"So?" Asked Leo.
"No Black Garden, no rose tokens", answered Chloe. "No rose tokens, no effect of Rose Flame".
"Oh, I, uh, see your point" said Leo.
"My turn, I draw", said Akiza drawing the top card of her deck. "I summon Witch of the Black Rose". Her monster then appeared on her field.
Another rose token then appeared on John's field.
"Now for Rose Flame's effect", said Akiza. "Now, every time a plant type monster is summoned to my opponent's field, you get inflicted with 500 points of damage". A blaze of rose petals then struck John.
John: 4000 - 500 = 3500
Witch of the Black Rose
ATK: 1700 - 850 = 850
"Now for my little witch's special ability", said Akiza. "I get to draw the top card of my deck. If it's not a monster, then my witch is destroyed". Akiza then drew the top card of her deck.
"It's Lord Poison", said Akiza. "So my witch is safe".
"Let's see", said Chloe. "If Witch is a level 4 and both of her Rose Tokens are level 2".
"She can summon a level 8 Synchro monster" cheered Leo.
"Does she have any level 8's?" Asked Lily.
"Not that I remember" answered Emily.
"I end my turn" said Akiza.
"Guess she doesn't have any level 8 monsters" said Lily.
"Let's see what we got", said John drawing the top card of his deck. "I activate the spell, supply squad. Now, once a turn, I get to draw a card if one of my monsters get destroyed".
"So, he gets to draw a card if his monster is destroyed?", asked Kelsey. "Would be better if it wasn't once per turn".
"You seem to forget that 'Scrap' cards are all about destroying themselves" added Chloe.
"Oh, right" said Kelsey scratching the back of her head.
"I play Scrap Rebirth", said John. "Now, I can bring back one level 3 or below 'Scrap' monster from my graveyard to my field. So say hello to Scrap Goblin". His new monster was a little goblin made of scrap metal. Most notably a sink tap for a head, a camera for a body and a fork for an arm.

"Now, I tune my level 3 Scrap Goblin with my two level 2 Rose Tokens", said John performing the summon. "I synchro summon! Another Scrap Archfiend!". A second copy of the monster appeared on the field.

"At least Black Garden's still up", said Crow. "Other wise, those two would be trouble".
'This doesn't make sense', thought Akiza. 'Why would he summon the same monster twice?'.
"Now, I thinks it's time your roses to get pruned", said John. "I play Double Trouble Demo. Now, if I control two monsters that are the same type, level or attribute, I can destroy every monster on your field that share a type, level or attribute".
"Uh-oh" said Crow.
"So, say good-bye to your Rose Tokens" said John. Each of Akiza's Rose Tokens were destroyed.
"I'll end my turn with these two facedown" said John.
"Why thank you, my turn", said Akiza drawing the top card of her deck. "I summon Rose Princess". Her new monster was a pink skinned woman wearing a rose red dress with black elbow length arm covers, a head full rose petals and had grass-like wings.

"Now, I tune my level 4 Witch of the Black Rose with my level 3 Rose Princess" said Akiza performing the summon.
"Whoa!", shouted the MC. "I hope you're all holding onto something. Because we might get blown away".
"I synchro summon! BLACK ROSE DRAGON!". Her monster then appeared on the field, displaying her wings proudly with a loud roar. Yet, no wind was blowing anyone away.
"Huh? Why aren't we getting blown away?" Asked the MC. The MC then felt a tap on his shoulder, he turned around to see Jack Atlas.
"How did you get in here?" Asked The MC.
"The door", answered Jack. "Incase you're wondering on why Akiza hasn't blown the field away when she summoned Black Rose Dragon, is because she now has control over it".
"Control?" Asked the MC.
"Yeah", answered Jack. "She managed to control her psychic powers. That means her dragon isn't going to hurt anyone".
"Whoa" said the MC impressed and the audience began to whisper about this".
"John's monsters on the other hand", said Jack. "Not so much".
"He's right", added Akiza. "Now then, when my Dragon is summoned, every card on the field is destroyed".
"Okay, now I know you're nuts", said John. "You do realise it'll destroy itself, right?".
"I'm counting on it", said Akiza. "GO! BLACK ROSE GALE!". A gale of black rose petals then destroyed every card on the field.
"Well that worked to no one's favour" said John.
"Well, that's not entirely true", said Akiza. "Now, from my hand, I play the spell Copy Seed. Now, I can banish a monster from my graveyard to summon a plant monster from my hand. So, I banish my Rose Fairy to summon Lord Poison". A humanoid that looked like a shrivelled root with blue nails and spikes coming out of it's body.

"Then it's my move", said John drawing the top card of his deck. "I summon another Scrap Goblin". Another copy of the same monster appeared on his field.
"And since you control a monster", said John. "I can special summon Scrap Breaker". His new monster was a leg-less torso made out of scrap.

"And now for it's effect", said John. "Now, I get to destroy one 'Scrap' monster I control. So, I choose Scrap Goblin". Scrap Goblin was then destroyed.
"Now TWO effects activate" said John.
"Two effects?" Asked Akiza.
"First is my Scrap Goblin's effect", said John. "Now I get to add a 'scrap' monster from my grave to my hand and I choose Scrap Mindreader". He then added the card to his hand.
"Next comes Scrap Searcher's effect", said John. "Now, it can special summon itself". His new monster was a bird made out of scrap and had three searchlights attached to it.

"Now, you're not the only one with a field spell", said John. "I activate the field spell, Scrap Factory". Their surroundings then became those of a smelting plant.
"Now, thanks to this spell, all my 'Scrap' monsters gain 200 attack and defence" said John.

ATK: 2100 + 300 = 2400
DEF: 700 + 300 = 1000
Scrap Searcher
ATK: 100 + 200 = 300
DEF: 300 + 200 = 500
"Now, I play Double Summon", said John. "Now, I can conduct a second normal summon. So, say hello to Scrap Mindreader". His new monster a bunch of scrapped salon equipment made sentient.

"Now I tune my level 1 Mindreader with my level 1 Searcher and level 6 Breaker", said John performing the summon. "I synchro summon! Scrap Dragon!".
His new monster was a dragon that was made entirely out of scrap metal.

DEF: 2000 + 200 = 2200
"Uh-oh" said Emily.
"What's the 'uh-oh' for?" Asked Kelsey.
"One of the kids in school uses Scrap Dragon", answered Emily. "And it's effect ain't pretty".
"Now then, attack Lord Poison!", shouted John. "Scrap Steam Breath!". Scrap Dragon then released a breath of steam that destroyed Lord Poison.
"I activate my trap, Cactus Needles", said Akiza. "When you destroy a plant type monster in battle, I can inflict you with the same damage I took". Cactus needles then shot at John.
Akiza: 2950 - 1500 = 1450
John: 3500 - 1500 = 2000
"And now, when Lord Poison is sent to the Graveyard", said Akiza. "I can special summon one Plant type monster from my graveyard. So say hello again to Rose Witch". Her monster then appeared on the field.
"I activate my Dragon's special ability", said John. "Now, I can destroy one card I control and one card you control and destroy them". Both Rose Witch and Scrap Dragon exploded.
"Now, thanks to the effect of my factory, I can summon one 'Scrap' monster from my deck if a 'Scrap' monster is destroyed by an effect", said John. "So, I summon out Scrap Raptor". His new monster was a velociraptor made out of Scrap metal.

"Now for one of my Raptor's effects", said John. "I can normal summon another 'Scrap' monster this turn. So, welcome Scrap Shark". His new monster was a shark made out of scrap metal.

"This isn't good", said Lily. "If Akiza doesn't summon another monster soon, she'll lose".
"Looks like things aren't going well for Akiza", said the MC. "She's down to her last few life points. Will she prune or be pricked?".
"It's my move, I draw", said Akiza drawing the top card of her deck. "I summon Bird of Roses to my field". Her new monster was a green bird-plant hybrid and had roses on it's head and wings.

"Next, I play Pot of Avarice", said Akiza. "Now, I get to return 5 monster from my graveyard to my deck and then draw 2 cards from my deck. So, I return Witch of the Black Rose, Lord Poison, Rose Witch, Rose Fairy and Black Rose Dragon to my deck. Now I get to draw two cards from my deck". She then drew the top two cards of her deck.
"One of them was Rose Fairy", said Akiza. "And since I added her thanks to a card effect, I can special summon her". Her monster then appeared on the field.
"Next, I play MY Double Summon", said Akiza. "Now I can conduct a second normal summon this turn. So, I summon Twilight Rose Knight". Her new monster was a knight with blue hair decked out in purple and pink armour with a lavender cape.

"Next comes my Knight's special ability", said Akiza. "Now I can summon a plant monster from my hand, and I choose Copy Plant". Her new monster was a tangle of vines with eyes.

"Now for my Copy Plant's ability", said Akiza. "Now it can copy the level of one monster on the field and I choose Rose Fairy". Her plant then turned into vine copy of Rose Fairy.

"Next, I tune my level 3 Copy Plant with my level 3 Rose Fairy", said Akiza performing the summon. "They say that beautiful things can be painful and this monster is the very definition of that. I synchro summon! Queen of Thorns!". Her new monster was a fair skinned woman in a plant-themed dress, a plant-like hairstyle and flytraps on both hands.

"That's a new monster" said Kelsey.
"It looks she upgraded her deck" said Luna.
"Let's just hope that monster has a special ability that can help her" added Leo.
"Now, thanks to her ability", said Akiza. "If any of us wanna special or normal summon non-plant monsters from our hand, we gotta pay 1000 life points. So, I think I'll do that right now".
Akiza: 1450 - 1000 = 450
"I tune my level 3 Twilight Rose Night with my level 4 Bird of Roses", said Akiza performing the summon. "I synchro summon! Black Rose Dragon!" Her iconic monster then appeared on the field.
"Next, I play the Spell, Pollen agitation", said Akiza. "Now, since I have a plant type monster on my field, I can switch one of your monsters to defence mode. So your Scrap Twin Dragon is now on the Defence". Scrap Twin Dragon then changed modes.
"Now for my Dragon's effect", said Akiza. "I can banish a plant monster from my graveyard, change a monster you control to attack mode and drain it of it's attack points. So, I banish my Bird of Roses to activate my dragon's effect". A silhouette then appeared in front of Black Rose Dragon and the dragon ate it and then unleashed thorn covered vines and entangled Scrap Twin Dragon.
Scrap Twin Dragon
ATK: 3000 - 3000 = 0
"Now, Queen of Thorns, attack Scrap Twin Dragon!", shouted Akiza. "Prickle whip!". Prickle covered vines came from Queen of Thorns' flytraps and she whipped Scrap Twin Dragon in half, destroying it. The explosion sent John flying off his feet.
John: 2000 - 2200 = 0
"And it's over!", shouted the MC. "And the duelist moving onto the next round is Akiza Izinski aka THE BLACK ROSE WITCH!". The crowd cheered and for once, Akiza wasn't afraid to show her face.
"Oh Yeah, she made it!" Cheered Emily.
"There's only one match left", said Crow. "And that's you, Lily".
"Oh man", she said "I'm so nervous. This is my first beg league duel". Jack then placed his hand on Lily's head.
"Don't worry", he said. "You'll do great".
