"Just sleep, just dream, Just sleep, just dream"
Sound of twisted and charred metal rang out as Inquisitor Jessikah in her power suit adorned with the Inquisitor insignia's crawled put of the flaming wreckage. The smell of burnt flesh hung deep in the air as Jessikah soon discovered her pilot was dead " Captain Van Wynter?" Jessikah said into her communicator only to receive static in return " something is jamming my Vox communications and my Teleport device is also being jammed, I will record everything in my audio log in case i don't return" Jessikah said taking a look around, she looked at the bodies of her dead friends " I will pray for them later " she said.
Seeing her friends dead, the map missing and seemingly stranded, Jessikah bent down and picked up the tech preist's severed head, she then noticed a shuttle near by and her way, slowly limping towards it.
Meanwhile
"You're not worthy, Varrack"
The voices tone was riddled with sarcasm, mocking them relentlessly. The disembodied taints followed them down the cold, dead metal halls that took them across the complex. Rust, moisture and rattling fans added to the nigh palpable tension. The industrial labyrinths lead them to their target. As they approached a gated room, the two green giants heard a semi melodical chanting that hid itself in the vibrating noises of the foundry. Each step they took increased the strength of the approaching origin. After a sequence of short corners, they found themselves in front of a heavy barred door with a pair of small, fogged windows. Even through a blurred surface, they could recognize a small group of people on the floor, repeating a singsong chorus of a foreign language.
They pulled on the door handle to breach and confirm the situation, but it did not budge. Checking on each other, they readied their weapons and simultaneously kicked the barricade, busting it wide open. Ready for the cultists to attack them, they found themselves dumbstruck as not a single one of them even flinched or aknowledged them.
They aimed their firearms and started unloading on them, mowing them down like wheat. The reciting heretics were mouthing their invocations to the last one living. The bolter muzzles were still glowing with heat as they looked at the massacred humans, trying to understand the blasphemous event.
"This standard cleansing mission is turning to something worrisome. We should proceed with increased caution."
They left the room and it came to their attention that the ethereal voice gnawing at their conscience became silent.
"I agree, brother."
Their pace turned to a near sprint as stealth was no longer a priority. Instead, quick dealing of Imperial justice became of higher importance. Every room and crevice was checked on their path and death came to each unlucky heretic they passed. It wasn't long before the unwelcome voice returned to their ears. At first just a barely recognizable mutter that turned to speech the further they got.
"You will fail, armor puppetsss. In the grand scheme of thingsss you're nothing more than specks of dust, forgotten by the world around you. "
"Be gone, pest. Your ramblings mean nothing to us. Whatever you are, wherever you are, we will find you and show you what it means to test the Emperor's finest. Instead of mockery, I would run for your life. "
The Grey Knight commander was visibly aggravated and started spitting insults at the unseen provocations.
Facing his bolt pistol to the next foes head, he disintegrated it with one shot, painting the walls with a crimson mist. He kept shouting and killing the delirious heretics in increasingly brutal ways. Covered with blood and tissue, he looked at his battle brother, panting. The servomotors hissed under the ceramite plating as they rushed towards the meeting point. The dark plated corridor blurred into an unrecognizable surface in the corner of their eyes. The top of the poorly lit stair set was where they stopped. Her'nak nearly sent his battle brother flying as they were abruptly brought to a halt, smashing into eachother.
Bone decorations on his armor rattled as he took a knee to clear his head. Suddenly, they turned back as an inhuman shriek erupted behind them. One of the cultists survived and was standing a breath away. His eyes were rolled back in his skull and a giant slit on his torso rose questions of his survival. Screaming in high pitch, he prestented an explosive device to the marines. Before they could react, the bomb went off. The violent blast evaporated the wounded human and sent the Grey Knights crashing downstairs, smashing on the ground hard with an echoing clank. While picking themselves up, once again the taunting voice pierced their thoughts.
Spreading around them was another incantating group, twice the size of the first encounter. As before, all of them were kneeling down, lost in the otherworldly mind state. But this time, a trio of cultists was standing at the front. One of them had her arms outstretched and head raised high. At that moment, it was made clear what was happening. The stationary heretic was a Psyker, trying to open a gateway to the Warp, unleashing materialized Daemons to the physical world. The Reivers unknowingly helped them by killing the praying mobs, effectively sacrificing them. A sudden uncomfortable silence replaced the repetitive recitations when all of the fiends collectively turned they eyes to the skull helmed warriors. At the sight of them, the two zaelots next to the still praying Psyker pulled out daggers and placed them to their necks.
However the cultist never got the chance as the commander opened fire on the trio
" Be gone plight" he said" I am the emperor's light " he was slashing through cultists as a daemon came running towards him. The commander turned and swung his power hammer " And I am the hammer!" He said as he brought the hammer down on top of the daemon's head. The commander then slumped to his knees finally giving in to his injures.
" Jingles come in" came the voice of Eckar over the coms, " Answer me damn it "
" Jingles here" soon came a reply
" The commander?"
" is dead "
" Prepare for extraction"
The last remaining Grey knight Jingles was teleported back to their ship the Baleful Edict, he just stepped off the teleporter " welcome back commander " Luna the tech priest said. Jingles soon joined Eckar and Luna on the bridge as as shuttle broke orbit.
" sir were getting a hail" Eckar said
" Ignore it we need to get to Titan for repairs" Luna scolded
" I can't its a inquisition signal" Eckar replied
" Shit " Jingles said " Put it through.
A hologram of Jessi soon appeared " Prepare for my arrival "
" Inquisitor your free to dock welcome aboard " Luna sighed.
The shuttle soon landed in the shuttle bay, Inquisitor Jessikah joined them on the bridge shortly after.
" What is he meaning of this " Jingles asked
" I need your help" Jessi replied
" Can't " Luna snapped " We need repairs "
" We can't deny a request from a inquisitor " Eckar said.
" The Tech Priest isn't lying lady Inquistor we really do need repairs " Jingles said
" Very well" Jessikah said " Get this ship repaired then we will head out " she said, the two marines and tech priest nodded " Now I must see the Apothecary " she left the other they priest skull with Luna " See if you can make something with it, she was a valuable friend"
And with that Jessi strode off the bridge.
