Chapter 30: Leon's Hallucination
I don't own anything. Resident Evil belongs to Capcom and Tomb Raider belongs to Core Design, Crystal Dynamics, and I think Square Enix. The only thing I own is the changes made to the stories of the Tomb Raider games/comics and Resident Evil games/comics/CG movies, the Government branch S.P.E.L.L., the person that has taken over Kathrine Warren's life, and Rose Warren. This story also will be bloody, violent, and have cursing. It's rated T for Teen.
Country: Russia, State: Siberia, City: Siberian Wilderness, Place: Near Kitezh, Area: Wicked Vale, Month: November, Day: Tuesday 28th, Year: 2000, Time: 19:14 KRAT…
"-where you die!" Leon stiffened up and looked around quickly for the source of the elderly woman's voice and the dry laughter that followed.
"Kat?" Leon asked looking for the blonde. "Lara?" He called out as the laughter died down and the world tinted green as he walked toward a tunnel entrance.
He found himself in a dark passage that seemed to have steam coming from the floor and possibly bubbling acid in shallow pools. The roots of trees sticking out of the walls, bent, twisted, and trembled as if alive, ready to grab him and strangle him like that creepy tree from the Evil Dead. It was like time-laps video of the roots growing. The walls pulsated as if they were breathing, maybe they would come alive and swallow him.
Out of fear, he kept to the middle of the tunnel, not wanting the walls or the roots to touch him. He turned the corner and yelled as he backed up and felt himself pushed back by a tentacle. Mutated Zombies lined the walls, looking like vampires that rotted away at the mouths, showing him their permanent fanged smiles. They all turned their heads to look at him, glowing red eyes shined with hunger.
"Fuck…no…" He shook his head. "They're not here…" He hissed as he looked up and walked forward with tense steps. "They can't be…real…" He said through clenched teeth as his heart rang in his ears.
Leon tried to ignore the undead eyes on him as he walked out of the tunnel. He was in a forest now. Bright green light, glowed all around him through the trees and dense fog that rose up from the snow on the ground. There was a reddish tinge to the bark of the trees, making them look a deeper brown. A blur of something moving fast through the trees on the right made him spin that direction with a jolt. He almost pulled his gun but stopped when he could see nothing through the fog.
"You're hallucinating, Leon…" Leon hissed as he hit the side of his head. "You could hurt Lara or Kat…try focusing…" He told himself as he took the right path as the left looked like too tight a grouping of trees for him.
He turned the corner and jerked to a stop at seeing someone who had been dead a long time now.
"Rookie…" Marvin's voice rang as his old superior officer walked past him and around the trees.
"M-Marvin?" Leon gasped as he slipped around the corner looking for the man.
But the Officer was gone, vanished.
"No…Marvin's dead…" Leon reminded himself. "He…I shot him…this isn't real…"
He took off at a run down the treelined path. He slowed down as he looked around, trying to figure out if he was going the right way.
"Kat!? Can you hear me!" Leon called out despite his swimmy head and the green, snowy atmosphere. "God…why the hell did we come here…" He frowned as he looked around the corner he had turned down, feeling lost. "Where…where is here?"
"Better keep your eyes open, Rookie…" Marvin's voice echoed, it was sounding as if it was coming from everywhere.
Leon hissed as he ran down a random path that the trees seemed to be leading him too. Then he saw him again. There was Marvin. He was pale now. Leon could see the blood on his uniform shirt.
"No…" Leon breathed as he froze into place.
"Don't hesitate. It'll get you killed." Marvin said as he walked away.
"Marvin…you…" Leon ran after the man. "He's not…here, not…" Leon stopped abruptly and shook his head. "I'm…I'm just seeing shit…not real. Remember…Kat…"
He lifted his head and saw something shadowy flash through the trees. He turned then turned again as he ran and stopped as he spotted Marvin just standing at the end of the path. He looked to be watching something.
"Marvin?" Leon asked as he slowed down. "Is this—"
The colors shifted to darker reds and blacks with a dash of orange. A creature of horns, yellow eyes, tall humanoid body, red blood, and black smoke gave a screeching roar at him. Leon yelled and fell back, hitting something on his way down, hearing a yell and gasp. Something glinted for a second. Then the creature faded into a puff of its smoke, vanishing.
Leon wheezed puffs of air out as he stared at the spot where the creature had been. "The…fuck was that…?" He slowly stood up and started walking again looking around for a way out of this nightmare that he was living, forgetting he was hallucinating.
He walked around a bend in the path, noticing it was very dark now. The trees were looking like they were alive and were going to grab him and rip him in two. "When did it…getting dark…What time I it?"
"I tried, Leon…" Marvin voiced sadly and tightly. "But I couldn't stop it."
"Stop it…" Leon hissed wanting this all to stop. "It…I…I wasn't alone…they…" He shivered as he tried to gain some of his mind back.
He turned the corner and shook his head slowly.
"No…" He breathed as he saw what was on the path. "Nononono…please…not here" He prayed as he walked forward into the west hallway to the doors of the main hall of the RPD.
The door opened and he saw a shabby Marvin vanish into the moonlight on the other side. The wind blasted Leon. He raised his arms. He didn't want to go forward. But he knew he had to. Marvin needed help, the other officer's needed help. He stepped through the door and blinked in confusion. He was back in the woods. Just the cold snow, trees, green fog that wouldn't be out of place in a haunted house at an amusement park.
He turned and shook his head. He remembered the pollen and how he was with Kat and Lara. "Where are they?" He looked down the path seeing Marvin's figure walking away. "Hey! Where are they!?" He yelled as he ran after the apparition.
Leon turned the corner seeing the scattered furniture, leather sofa, divider curtains, and emergency crates. He saw the open door to the escape tunnel and Marvin standing by it, holding his gun at Leon. Leon backed up holding his hands in the air.
"Marvin…put…please put the gun down." Leon gasped. "Don't make me the last one. I don't want to be a lone survivor from the force." He almost begged.
"Get out of the city. And forget this place." Marvin said then pointed the gun at his own head as the door behind him shut, finger curling on the trigger.
Leon shouted and shielded his eyes as the flash of the muzzle was brighter than it should've been. He didn't hear a gunshot though, he heard Kat's pained scream.
"KAT!" When he lowered his arms, breathless, he saw the wall before him and nothing else. A crack in it and heard the dry cackle of an old woman on the air.
"Where's Kat, you bitch!?" Leon yelled into the wind.
"Come and see…"
He snarled, remembering the witch that could be causing the hallucination and angry that she might have Kat. He stormed forward and pushed himself into the crack, forcing his way passed an unseen blockage. He stumbled into the snow and suddenly Lara was in front of him looking around at the snowy dark green forest.
She turned around then and seemed to see him before rolling her eyes, though she looked sick. "It's your fault."
Leon backed up as if slapped. "What?"
"Kat's trauma. The death's of all those cops." Lara shrugged.
He shook his head rapidly. "No…you're wrong…that's…" He swallowed as she turned away from him as if ignoring him.
The trees and ground vibrated under his feet. He looked to the trees. His eyes widened as he backed up from Lara. A house walked through the trees. A hut on black chicken legs.
"That's…not possible…" Lara breathed as she followed the passing house with her eyes. "It's…it's just a myth…"
"It's…those are chicken legs…" Leon couldn't believe it. "No way…"
"It's not…" Kat coughed as she struggled to stand. "It can't be real…"
"She's here." An eerily female voice called. "I'm sorry, Leon. There is no return." She said darkly. "You're going to rot out there."
"-going to rot out there." The witch said with a dry laugh.
Leon ran down the path, He believed Lara was ahead of him, he looked back hoping to find Kat following. He saw her. She looked sicker than Lara had and looked hurt, but he didn't see any wounds on her. He slowed down as he turned a bend and came to some ruins and a broken wooden bridge near a rushing river. He looked to Kat and saw her fall to her hands and knees and started to crawl forward.
"Kat!" He rushed over but saw something in the corner of his eyes.
He looked to his right at the sudden orange light. He gasped at the sight of fire and the Baba Yaga's hut amongst it. Looking like it was from hell.
"Dagon Ahk May Gott Ang Korl!" Baba Yaga yelled from her hut.
The hut stepped closer and fire flew at them from the hut's open doors. It hit what was left of the bridge and sent them all diving and screaming to the icy ground as they ducked.
"Shub Noor Go Awf An KA!" Baba Yaga yelled furiously.
Fire rained down from the doors but didn't hit anyone. The ground ripped open, and wolves came from it. They were undead with skin hanging off and had hell's fire in their eyes. Leon pulled his handgun with gritted teeth and pushed Kat behind him, she looked weak and hurt. He fired a few shots sat the undead wolves. When his bullet's hit them, they exploded in gore and smoke. He heard Kat's yell of pain and spun around to look.
He saw she was on her back, stabbing at an undead wolf that had a hold of her arm. He could see its teeth had contacted her skin and blood was soaking her coat sleeve. He saw her kick the wolf off herself and struggled to her feet.
"Kat?" He asked worriedly as he pointed his gun at the wolf, shooting it.
"KAR ZHO SHUGG CH'TOLLA!" Baba Yaga yelled from her hut making the wolves vanish and her hut once again moved forward.
They looked up at the hell house on bird's legs. It moved closer from the cave. He could somewhat make out the witch standing on the porch part of the house. She looked like she was in horns, feathers, and furs.
"No…" Lara shook her head. "This…Oh god…" She looked at Leon and Kat then back at the hut. "This can't…"
"Baba…Yaga…can't…flowers…" Kat tried to say, remembering the pollen vaguely, but felt her legs shaking, her heart racing too fast.
Leon looked at Kat seeing she was going to fall over. He gave up on holding his gun and holstered it before catching her and holding her up. "Flowers?" Leon asked confused.
The hut then jumped down and before the three, making them take several steps back.
"KORR AH CHAK LI RAH!" Baba Yaga shouted at them as fire raged at them.
They backed up from the house that stomped toward them, spitting fire. Baba Yaga waved at them, as if becoming them to enter her hut.
"Come." She crocked. "Your fellow Officers await you…"
"Not real…" All three gasped as they came to the edge of a cliff, where the river was.
"It's not…" Lara gasped as the house lifted a leg with its sharpened talons.
"I've got you Kat…" Leon breathed into Kat's ear as he felt his heel hit the edge of the cliff. "I…I'm not letting you go."
Kat looked back at Leon then the hut. "We…need to move…"
"No." Lara looked at the cliff and at Leon and Kat seeing Kat's eyes were fluttering. "No…"
They fell as the orange and green light of the world was interrupted by the three hitting the water. Lara on her back, Leon, and Kat on their shoulders. The world went gray for Leon…
