Clarke

Stepping off the school grounds Clarke couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief at finally getting out of that detention and being free from Mr Pike and that weird talking idea he had made her and Bellamy do. It felt so good in that moment that Clarke just stood where she was at the side of one of the roads that looped around the school, it was the evening now so things were dark but in spite of that Clarke was still happy in this moment at being free.

Talking to Bellamy could be an alright experience for Clarke even when they argued with each other which was most of the time, it was at least an interesting experience but that had not been the case this time. Talking with Bellamy while Mr Pike was listening in had just been torcher because of Mr Pike they had no choice about being nice to each other but more than that they had both needed to be careful about what they talked about which was just anxiety inducing. It hadn't just been her either because of their thing Clarke had been able to tell that Bellamy had been just as worried about saying something they shouldn't say in front of Mr Pike as she had been.

Thinking about this Clarke looked over at Bellamy who was a few steps away from her and currently texting on his phone, they hadn't exactly walked out together but they both needed to walk this way so here they both were. Looking over at Bellamy now Clarke bit her tongue slightly as she tried not to do it but it was hard, Bellamy Blake was an ass most of the time but he was annoyingly good looking which was something Clarke tried not to think about.

There was Bellamy's bronze skin and is black messy hair to begin with which just on their own would have been great features to have but things didn't end there when it came to Bellamy's looks far from it in fact. At one time Clarke would have said Bellamy had boy band good looks but in the last year or so that had started to change, puberty had treated Bellamy well his good looks weren't that of a boy any more. Bellamy and her were the same age but with the height and muscled build Bellamy had developed he had a very different kind of look these days compared to the one he had once had and if that wasn't enough he looked great in his uniform.

Clarke would not have described Bellamy as a rule follower but he did take a similar position to the school uniform that she did, like her he did where a few small badges on the jacket but that was about it everything else was held exactly to how it was dictated in the rules. It annoyed Clarke but looking at Bellamy right now there was no denying it the school uniform made him look very dashing which was just a fact whether she liked it or not. Everything the grey jacket, the shirt, the tie and the trousers the boys at school wore all made Bellamy look great, he was the picture of desirability and that really annoyed Clarke.

Concerned Bellamy would be able to feel her looking Clarke pulled her eyes away from him in the hopes she would get away with this little lapse but it was too late. 'What's annoying you Princess,' Bellamy asked looking up from his phone now picking up on Clarke's feelings which was really exasperating for Clarke. Out of all the boys and men in her life why did Bellamy Blake get to be the one who got to have an inside track on the inside of her head, really why him of all people?

'It's nothing,' Clarke sighed looking back at Bellamy now rolling her eyes as she spoke from her exasperation 'it's just I have to call my parents to come get me and they're going to ask why I got a detention again.' This wasn't the truth but it wasn't exactly a lie either Clarke was not looking forward to calling for a ride but that was kind of the point, because of their thing she and Bellamy couldn't lie to each other so she had to speak in half truths.

Thinking Bellamy would just make some kind of flippant comment here Clarke made to get her phone from her bag and there for call her dad but to her surprise Bellamy asked for her to stop just as she pulled out her phone. Clarke didn't say anything in response to Bellamy's request but she didn't go any further with what she was doing either keeping her phone in her hands she just looked up at Bellamy and waited for him to say whatever it was if just out of curiosity.

'Come to mine Clarke,' Bellamy directed shrugging slightly as he spoke seemingly embarrassed 'tell your parents about this project we have for Miss winters, say we are going to work on it and they can pick you up from mine.' Clarke had not been expecting that so she opened her mouth to respond but Bellamy kept talking 'I'm sure Octavia would love to see you,' he added looking even more embarrassed now 'it's a while since you two hung out at ours.'

Unlike many of the people like her and Bellamy who had been born on Halloween almost seventeen years ago now Bellamy actually had a younger sister who Clarke would say was a friend of hers. They were better now but Clarke understood that she and everyone had been quite a hand full when they were little so many parents had decided one was enough but Bellamy's mum had been different. Bellamy's mum had gotten married when they were all like two so understandably another two years after that she had gotten pregnant and then Octavia had come along when they were all five.

Octavia wasn't like her, Bellamy or any of the others she was a normal twelve year old but in truth Clarke had always kind of liked that about Bellamy's sister. Clarke knew enough people who had somehow been born with fully developed skill sets and had the whole prodigy thing going for them so it had always been nice to have at least one friend where she could do actual teenage stuff with. There was a bit of an age gap between her and Octavia but that had never really bothered Clarke, age in terms of years lived had always felt like an objective concept to her so stuff like that didn't matter to her much.

'Alright,' Clarke said nodding in response to Bellamy's direction thinking mostly of Octavia 'I'll do that, thank you for offering Bellamy.' She included that last part deliberately Clarke appreciated Bellamy doing this for her but she also didn't want him thinking that he could just order her around like they were anything other than what they were.

'Lead the way then, Clarke,' Bellamy smiled gesturing for her to walk ahead of him in the direction she knew led to his house probably making a deliberate point to use her name she thought. Clarke did walk a head though as Bellamy had gestured sadly it was hard to turn chivalry down so getting her phone to text her parents about what she was doing Clarke walked a head allowing Bellamy to catch up at which point they both fell in to a strangely comfortable silence.

Having finished her text Clarke let them walk in silence for a little while down the street that was lit up by street lights but at a certain point she just had to say something, the silence between them was comfortable and that made Clarke uncomfortable. 'So do you have any ideas about this project Miss Winters has us doing,' she asked deciding to go with a subject that should be safe for them, they did argue most of the time but they could be different with each other.

'I don't know,' Bellamy sighed stretching his arms as they walked 'I don't want to do anything like Shakespeare or anything like that, nothing depressing if we are going to do this I want the project to be fun.'

'Fair point,' Clarke nodded submitting to this point 'something mythology based maybe,' she ventured thinking of possibilities 'something with magic maybe, that's fun.'

'That could work,' Bellamy smiled as they paused to cross a road 'I can make a few recommendations there,' he added as they crossed over the road.

Getting to the other side of the road Clarke was about to respond to that but she stopped realising how easily she and Bellamy were talking, this kind of thing did happen but it was still weird for her when it did. 'Are we being nice to each other then,' Clarke said after a moments silent thought sensing a shift in Bellamy's mood as well, for Bellamy's part though he only shrugged as way of a reaction, 'o whatever,' she sighed seeing this rolling her eyes as she spoke. Things between her and Bellamy could be so difficult at times, sometimes she felt like she wanted to kill Bellamy she hated him that much but other times like right now he was easy to talk to and it felt like there connection was something that didn't need to be bad, the shifting around could be really jarring.

Thankfully though they weren't far away from Bellamy's so Clarke knew she should soon be able to distract herself from this with thoughts of Octavia and other things. Bellamy actually did live rather close to the school so it was only a short walk really, after Bellamy's mum died his step dad Kane as the man liked to be called had decided a change would be good so they had moved.

'Felt strange talking about us and not talking about, you know,' Bellamy began now apparently getting on to this subject himself 'I mean, I had to really watch myself there.'

'Yeah so did I,' Clarke admitted knowing she might as well speak freely 'I can only imagine what he would have done if we had.'

'Lock us both up probably,' Bellamy smiled joking around sarcasm heavy in his voice 'make us both an article of study, I mean really two teenagers that can feel each other's emotions and know where the other is what's not interesting about that.'

'Very true,' Clarke said smiling herself joining in with the sarcasm 'plus there is the whole prodigy thing we both have going on and let's not forget the dreams.'

'You know I've read some kids do develop faster Clarke,' Bellamy countered his voice getting a little more serious now 'like with talking and walking some start much faster than others,' he continued a slight edge of defensiveness to his voice now. 'As for the dreams,' he said moving on to that point now 'the brain is a strange mysterious thing and people really don't understand dreams a tall so there are a lot of reasons a person could have a strange recurring dream.'

Clarke knew what Bellamy was doing here, he did this sometimes the same she guessed she did he tried to arguing that developmental abilities at least weren't that different from normal teenagers. As for the dreams Bellamy might well be right she didn't know what recurring dreams he had but she did know he had them and that point about dreams just being dreams could be true but the other point wasn't and they both needed to know that.

'Bellamy,' Clarke began softly trying to reassure the anxiety she could feel coming off of him now 'you, I and everyone are a little different from that, that doesn't need to be a bad thing but we are different.'

Clarke knew Bellamy knew this really so it didn't surprise her when he let out a resigned sigh 'I know princess, it's just sometimes,' he paused shrugging but then he continued 'you know with everything, I try to pretend sometimes.'

'Yeah,' Clarke nodded making an effort to smile a reassuring kind of smile as they both turned a corner on to another street 'you remember what it was like when things first started happening with us all?' Clarke didn't want either of them getting too taken in by all this she knew from experience that would be bad for her and Bellamy both so she asked this question in the hopes it could push them both forward in the conversation a little bit.

'How could I not,' Bellamy smiled joking around with the memory 'to begin with all our parents probably just thought we were all developing quickly but then we all started doing stuff didn't we.' Having said this part Bellamy burst out laughing clearly enjoying the memories he was reminiscing about 'I guess it's understandable my mum freaked when I revealed I somehow knew how to disassemble and reassemble a gun.'

'Makes sense that we all started getting sent to evaluations,' Clarke smiled joining in with Bellamy's reminiscing 'even if we did all just get slapped with the labile of prodigy like that explains anything I guess it made our parents happy.' It was true, when they had all started being evaluated as children the testing hadn't really gone anywhere honestly she thought the label of prodigy was just that, a label that they were all slapped with because no one knew what was going on with them all.

'It might not have led to anything princess,' Bellamy countered using the nickname again 'but I think it was for the best, I mean you and I both made good friends because of those evaluations.' As Bellamy said this last part he paused his eyes meeting Clarke's in an awkward fashion 'even if that was how we first met in an actually real way,' he finally said after a long moment of silence addressing that little fact 'I think we each both had better first meetings with other people there.'

Clarke wasn't really sure what to say as way of a response to that, she and Bellamy had technically known each other since they were babies but there had been a time early on where they hadn't been within each other's orbits. That had changed when she, Bellamy and all the rest had started being evaluated for the skills they were developing though, Clarke and Bellamy had reconnected then and it hadn't gone well to say the least.

'I guess we have some complicated history then don't we, a troubled past,' Clarke said after some thought trying to play everything off with a bit of sarcastic humour but the moment she said the words Clarke immediately regretted it. The moment Clarke said the word past Bellamy looked right at her shock and anxiety clear as day to her on his face, she would have seen it even if she couldn't feel it as well, she should have seen it Clarke thought chastising herself internally. The word past was followed by the word present which intern was followed by the word future and the concept of the future when it related to her and Bellamy was something Clarke knew that both of them tried not to think about.

It wasn't like Clarke or Bellamy knew the future exactly it wasn't that simple for either of them but neither was the future as much of a mystery to the two of them as it was to normal people. Clarke didn't like to even think about it and she knew Bellamy was the same but when it came to things that were to come especially when it concerned the two of them they both had certain impressions of what was coming for them both.

Getting on what she knew was Bellamy's street now Clarke opened her mouth to say something, she didn't know what but she did know she should say something however before she had chance to speak to her relief her phone buzzed signalling she had a text. Quickly Clarke mumbled something about must check and then she pulled out her phone and as she did so she saw Wells was the one texting her with a question about where she was right now.

Wells was her best and oldest friend, like her and Bellamy Wells had been born that Halloween night but unlike Bellamy Wells wasn't a total ass half the time. Clarke's mum and Wells mum had become friends in the days after the berths so they had more or less grown up together and they were still very close, Clarke had other friends but Wells was her best friend.

'Who's texting,' Bellamy asked as Clarke hurried a response back to Wells, no doubt he was glad for the distraction from what they had just been talking about as well.

'Wells,' Clarke sighed looking up now having sent Wells a text about where she was and that everything was fine 'he was just asking where I am.'

'O the mayors kid princess,' Bellamy remarked mocking her as they came to a stop in front of his house 'keeping an eye on that influence are we.'

'Give it a rest Bellamy,' Clarke snapped not appreciating that one 'it's not like your living in poverty yourself, look where you live,' she added gesturing at the house to the side of them 'you live in a three floor town house.' It was true, there were several streets of well-built well to do attached housing around the schools and Bellamy lived in one of those town houses with his step dad and sister, Bellamy certainly hadn't started out with money but thanks to his step dad he did have it now.

'That doesn't change the fact that Wells is a big head because of who his dad is,' Bellamy countered right away his mocking smile turning in to a frown.

'O really,' Clarke laughed sarcastically ready for this 'if Wells is a big head what exactly is your so called girlfriend then, Roma is the most stuck up person I have ever met.' Roma really was very stuck up, her parents were rich and she had been lucky enough to be born with a stereotypical kind of beauty and she quite clearly thought that made her better than absolutely anyone. She even acted all stuck up around Josephine who's family Clarke knew for a fact was richer than Roma's and frankly Josephine was way prettier but Roma was still the same stuck up bitch to her friend the same way she was to everyone else.

'The only reason you two have a problem with each other,' Bellamy sighed rolling his eyes beginning to move to his front door 'is that you are both rivals to be queen bee.' As Bellamy said this part they reached his front door so he turned back around to face Clarke 'you might like to think of yourself as the smart one Clarke,' he continued wagging a finger at her annoyingly 'but you're not Clarke, you really are the princess Clarke, you're the queen bee that's the kind of girl you are.'

This statement had her a little stunned so Clarke didn't say anything as Bellamy opened the door and stepped inside but she soon thought of a response. 'Interesting tense there,' Clarke argued following after Bellamy 'it sounds like your saying I already am the queen bee there, is that what you're saying Bellamy?' It wasn't much of a counter point Clarke knew but it was enough of one that it should throw Bellamy off a bit and make him all awkward, at least that was what she had thought.

'Of course you are,' Bellamy admitted freely flexing his arms in a way that suggested this should be just obvious to everyone 'Roma hates you for it but you are the princess Clarke when it comes to the Primes.'

'You know I hate that people keep using that name,' Clarke sighed frustrated looking up at Bellamy as he shut the front door she wasn't sure what to say to that either so she went with the easy reaction.

Clarke probably would have said something else but just then a familiar voice called out and then Octavia appeared walking through an open door into the entrance hall. 'Clarke,' the small twelve year old with long brown hair called immediately sounding pleased to see her there rushing over and hugging her 'what are you doing here.'

'Bellamy and eye need to do some school stuff together,' Clarke said looking over at Bellamy who she could feel was concerned for his sister 'but also I wanted to say hello to you Octavia.'

'What we need to do actually O,' Bellamy began stepping forward slightly 'is talk about books and stories so you could help with that if you like.' Bellamy paused here briefly to allow his sister to process this suggestion however before she could say anything he took another step forward 'come on you two,' he said clearly trying to take charge 'let's go sit in the dining room.'

Clarke would have said something about being ordered about like that but she knew Bellamy would feel her annoyance at him so she didn't really need too, Bellamy would know she hadn't like that. Clarke had been here before so she moved on a head of Bellamy and Octavia moving through several doors to the back of the house where the dining room was which was made up of a large oak table and several old cabinets around the walls.

Bellamy did love to make a stink about the fact she came from money but it wasn't like any of this wasn't him coming from money as well, Bellamy's step dad Kane who she assumed as she sat down at the table was in his office upstairs right now was the town sheriff. In some towns Clarke knew that wouldn't mean much but it did in a town like Arkadia, the rich people in the town expected certain things from there sheriff and as a result when he delivered he tended to find people grateful. Also Kane Clarke knew had a security business on the side that he ran as well as being sheriff that did quite well.

'You see Octavia,' Clarke began once they were all sat down around the table 'the group me and your brother have been put on are going to need to do a project on a book and we are trying to decide what book we should use.' Clarke was aware there were other people in there group and they had a say what book they all did their project on obviously but there was nothing wrong with her and Bellamy finding something they could at least suggest to the others.

'We were thinking we wanted to come up with a book that has magic in it,' Bellamy added thankfully joining in with this conversation and not picking up with any others that might be on his mind.

'Cool,' Octavia smiled taking this all on board 'there is stuff like lord of the rings,' she suggested getting the ball rolling 'also there are things around witches you could use like the weird sisters books.'

'I love those books,' Clarke smiled referencing the weird sister's suggestion please by Octavia's idea just as Bellamy said he liked the lord of the rings idea. Hearing this made Clarke smile turn into a frown right away, turning to face Bellamy she opened her mouth fully prepared to argue her point but Octavia spoke first.

'How about those books, the down city chronicles,' Octavia said quickly her voice in a rush to speak as she know doubt sensed what was on the edge between Clarke and her brother. 'Those are great books,' Octavia continued still trying to stop an argument from starting 'and I know you both really like those books so why don't you do those.'

Once Octavia had said this part both Clarke and Bellamy locked eyes and glared a little bit at each other Octavia's suggestion was a good one Clarke knew but she didn't think either her or Bellamy would admit that verbally. The idea that her and Bellamy might like the same thing always made Clarke uncomfortable even if it was a book series she actually did really love so she was about to suggest something else but just then Bellamy's phone started to ring.

Clarke knew the ringing was coming from Bellamy's phone right away because of the ring tone and sure enough as she looked at Bellamy she saw him pull his mobile out of his pocket and put it to his ear. 'I'm at home,' he said after a minutes silence addressing the person on the other end who Clarke wasn't sure about right away 'no sorry,' Bellamy continued 'I'm not going to be able to come tonight.' That was enough for Clarke to have a pretty good idea who Bellamy was talking to and what he said next confirmed it 'I'm not sneaking out tonight Roma,' Bellamy said exasperation in his voice now apparently whatever Roma was saying was on the frustrating side.

'This isn't me planning a surprise,' Bellamy added in response to something else Roma was saying to him on the other end of the phone a moment later. Bellamy's conversation continued on after that for a few more minutes but then Bellamy said good bye and hung the phone up at which time he gave Clarke a rather challenging look, one she was entirely prepared to meet head on.

'Why are you even with her,' Clarke asked looking Bellamy right in the eyes as she asked the question, she didn't expect any real answer from Bellamy she hadn't gotten a good answer when she had asked in the past but she asked the question anyway knowing it would put him on the spot.

'Yeah,' Octavia said chipping in on this point 'of all the girls you could choose why her Bell,' Octavia didn't like Roma much Clarke knew so she guessed that reaction to her asking the question made sense.

'You're in no place to judge Clarke,' Bellamy countered not even addressing what Octavia had said 'you've only ever had one boyfriend Clarke and that was Finn, if you want to talk about Finn I'll talk about Roma.'

'I didn't know about him and Raven,' Clarke defended under her breath looking away from Bellamy now embarrassed 'if I had I wouldn't have done anything.' About a year ago now Clarke had ended up having a bit of a thing over that summer with a boy called Finn Collins however as it turned out he was already in a kind of secret relationship with one of her friends Raven.

'I believe you princess,' Bellamy said smiling a casual but also smug smile 'but I still don't think it's fair you judge my romantic choices.' Hearing this as well as feeling the sense of victory Bellamy was feeling sparked something in Clarke so she looked back at him ready to fight him on this however Clarke's phone ran this time drawing her away from the conversation.

It was her dad on her phone he was calling to tell her he was on his way now and to be ready, if her and Bellamy's attempt at doing their work together was going a bit better Clarke might have asked to stay longer but as it was she took the out. Once she hung up she told both Blake's her dad was coming and hearing this Bellamy disappeared leaving Clarke to chat with Octavia about some of their shared interests which honestly was for the better.

Bellamy actually only reappeared when it was time for her to go, having already said goodbye to Octavia Clarke stepped into the houses entrance hall with the intention of just walking out to her dad who was now waiting but Bellamy was there. 'What do you want,' Clarke sighed coming to a stop in front of Bellamy looking up at him, she didn't really feel like she felt up to them going at each other one more time.

'I just wanted to say goodbye,' Bellamy shrugged noncommittally trying to act all casual but Clarke could feel something more to it than that.

'Well good bye,' Clarke retorted rolling her eyes making to move around him now she didn't know what exactly Bellamy was feeling right now let alone thinking but she really didn't care to find out.

'I tried to be nice to you,' Bellamy spat clearly annoyed now turning on Clarke as she move to get passed him backing her against the wall 'I was trying to be the nice guy here, to make this all a good experience.'

'Well you failed to do that,' Clarke countered throwing that right back at Bellamy leaning against the wall just next to his front door as she glared up at Bellamy.

'You didn't even try,' Bellamy hissed through gritted teeth 'here I was trying to be the nice guy a girl like you always goes on about but I got nothing back from you.'

'O really,' Clarke laughed her laugh full of sarcasm 'did I owe you something then Bellamy, were you owed some kind of behaviour from me because for once you weren't a total ass.' As Clarke said this part Bellamy took a step back apparently disappointed with himself she could tell but Clarke didn't let up 'you didn't actually think I was going to act like one of the girls that thorn over you did you,' Clarke said taking a step towards Bellamy 'I'm not some girl you can just sweep off her feet.'

Now Clarke hadn't intended to finish speaking there, she had been meaning to start talking about stuff like toxic masculinity or something like that however she had made something of a mistake in her choice of words. When Clarke had talked about "sweeping off feet" she had just for a moment thought about just that her being swept of her feet by some generic kind of guy and that in turn had led to the slightest moment of arousal for her, which was a very bad thing when her and Bellamy were concerned. For a normal person the moment of arousal would have been gone almost instantly but it was different for Clarke because the moment she felt that emotion so did Bellamy which unfortunately sent the wrong message.

The effect of Clarke's moment of arousal was immediate, one moment she was glaring up at Bellamy and the next Bellamy had her pinned back against the wall kissing her and holding her tight. It wasn't just him, Clarke did kiss Bellamy back which made the kiss go deeper, as they kissed Clarke felt the desire Bellamy was feeling in his confused state and in such a situation it was difficult for her not to feel that emotion as if it were her own.

Clarke's little make out session with Bellamy only lasted about a minute though because she soon came to her senses and getting a hand free she slapped Bellamy across the face which thankfully broke the moment. 'Fuck princess,' Bellamy spat taking a few steps back as Clarke moved towards the door rubbing the side of his face 'that hurt.'

'Good,' Clarke spat back herself laying her hands on the door knob 'we've talked about this Bellamy, I don't like it when you do that anymore than you like it when I do that to you.' Sadly this wasn't the first time her and Bellamy had ended up more or less inhaling each other when one of them got a little confused thanks to their ability, puberty had come with some unfortunate down sides for the two of them. Clarke and Bellamy did not like each other like that it was just they could feel each other's emotions and that included arousal which was an emotion that could be challenging to deal with.

'Well I know you liked it just a little bit,' Bellamy countered still rubbing his cheek being contrary now 'I could feel you enjoying it.'

'You have a girlfriend Bellamy,' Clarke countered opening the front door choosing to move straight to this point 'also let me remind you half to time we are around each other we are one step away from killing each other.'

Bellamy didn't say anything in response to this so Clarke just left walking right out the door heading straight towards her dad, most of the time her and Bellamy hated each other, they might sometimes manage to act like friends but that was it. That kiss represented something between them that was a problem to be avoided, a problem that was no different than the hate that existed between them because both led down roads neither one of them wanted to go down.

Well I hope that last bit was a fun twist for you guys, Clarke and Bellamy can feel each other's emotions so I felt it made sense that stuff like that might happen. Please share your thoughts if you liked this chapter I would love to see what you thought if you did.
