Deciding on a gift that appeared proper, yet not too in his face, but thoughtful enough was a hard affair in its own. Initially Talia wanted to gift Harry weapons, anything really, everything would have fit the pattern of the current times and she was even ready to throw a few free lessons if it was not for Harry's hate towards Snape. In all honestly, she was still debating the events that led up to Dumbledore's death and she was not ready to have a fight with the golden child of the era just yet, not until she had all her facts straight.
Talbott on the other hand opted for books and Talia just had to, while reluctantly, put a stop to that. While his idea was a good one, Harry was a teen, he was seventeen, a boy his age did not need such things. Especially not during a full-on war. While she saw the importance of a good book or two, Harry could not care less for them in his current stare.
"Something small then, significant enough but not over the top."
Talbott crossed his arms across his chest, Talia knowing full well he was going to shoot down her idea "What then? Jewellery?"
"Yes, something along the lines. But with a use." She argued, mirroring his gesture.
"We can't put a dagger in a necklace." He uttered looking her directly in the eye.
Smirking, she leaned closer "Can't we though?" her words causing him to roll his eyes.
She smiled, pulling back, however she still remained in close proximity to him "I'm just saying, if it contained a potion, a hex in case he needed it, that might come in handy."
Finally nodding, he wrecked his brain trying to come up with a good solution "Fine, alright, I see your point. We can do that. Though if it were up to me I would give him something of comfort, like the fire lights you gave me."
Pondering on it for a moment, she inclined her head, hair going in her face "Yes, that would be nice I guess. But I am still hexing it so that if he throws it towards someone it explodes."
"Fine." He relented eventually with a heavy sigh.
He understood her point of view, always having at least the slightest advantage was a good idea. And it made perfect sense, but in a way he still wanted for Harry to have something that would bring a smile to his face. The boy had been through a lot in his life and was more than likely to go through even more hardship. A light in the dark was not a bad idea.
Speaking of, he glanced at Talia, face softening despite his self-control. They both lost people during the last few days and while there was not enough time in between events for them to properly mourn, it somehow managed to bring them closer together. Talia returned with him back to their home and they both went to sleep in the same bed without taking turns. She leaned onto him more and he opened up slightly, both trying to maintain a balance as to not crumble.
"About the wedding…" Talia sighed the moment those words left Talbott's lips, her hand lifting to stop him from adding anything else.
"Can we not?"
Taking her hand into his, he removed it from his lips "It's Bill, we need to be there for him Talia."
Removing her hand, she turned around, wrapping her hands around her body "Yes I know." Rummaging through a drawer, she cursed seeing she only had two cigarettes in a pack that she left almost full "Munday I swear I will puncture your lungs!" she yelled, a laugh from within the house being heard. Lighting up a cigarette, she placed the last one in the pocket of her sweater before going to the window "Look, I have nothing against the wedding itself. What troubles me is the number of guests."
"I know what you mean." he mentioned walking over to sit next to her, Talbott placing himself on the windowsill "But then again we have no say in it."
"I know." She puffed annoyed, burning through the cigarette much faster than she would have liked "But at least I have you to complain to, at least you're listening to me."
"Always." He mentioned, reaching out to tuck a stubborn strand behind her ear.
Smiling at him, she asked "What are you going to wear?"
Chuckling lightly, he shrugged his shoulders "To be honest, I only have the clothes from out first date and something tells me they don't fit anymore."
Giving him a one over, Talia nodded her head "True, your shoulders are broader now, you have more muscle too." Glancing at him, she stifled a laugh when she saw his face "What? Did you think I wouldn't notice the changes in your body? Come on, stop lying to yourself. I stopped trying to do that as well."
Clearing his throat, he finally spoke, trying to evade the subject "What are you wearing then?"
Laughing, she actually took some time to admit she still had the polka dotted dress he gave her. The corners of his lips twitched upwards despite him trying to maintain a straight face "While you look stunning in that dress, I actually have something for you." He witnessed her forehead creasing as she gave him a funny look "You can thank Andre when you see him. Now" he added, lifting his hand to emphasize his point "it's not much, he is really struggling with limited supplies these days, but he called it the perfect murder dress."
"Great, I have a reputation I need to uphold now." Burning the cigarette bud to ashes in her hand, she turned her attention to him "Show me."
Once upstairs and in their room, Talbott reached under the bed to retrieve a box. Lifting the lid, Talia picked it up, eyes analysing it. From the looks of it, it was indeed a good murder dress. Enough fabric to grip her torso properly, the material stretchy and without sleeves that would impact any movement. It was long, black, however it still held some slight shimmer as the light hit it directly. It had a slit on one leg, perfect for movement, while the covered one could conceal a weapon without too much fuss. Cocking her brow, she looked at Talbott.
"Two things." He saw him tense slightly as she placed the dress back in the box "How does Andre know my measures?"
Talbott's eyes widened, her gaze far too piercing, him eventually giving it "It went something along the lines of this" he mentioned showing him how thin he thought her waist was, her shoulders, eventually Talbott cupping the air to exemplify how big he knew her breasts were, Talia doubling over in laughter "Please stop." He felt the heat reaching his face, burning strong as she continued to laugh "Well you're not the only one taking notes on how one's body is." He grumbled, Talia pushing the hair from her face, a smirk on her lips telling him she had him exactly where she wanted.
"Also, how come you choose cleavage? Because I know this wasn't Andre, you told him this didn't you?"
Glancing to the side, Talia refused to take her eyes off him, delighted with his reaction. Despite the time spent apart and everything that happened in between, he still felt similar. Reluctant to say things, unwilling to admit others, shy and so appealing.
"You stopped hiding, as you should." He finally looked her in the eye, Talia lifting her chin up slightly "You never had to. I know you think those scars are ugly, but they're not, you are gorgeous even with them."
"Since when do you lay compliments at my feet like that?" she inquired squinting her eyes slightly.
"Actually this is me trying to make up for those time when I didn't."
Nodding once, she accepted his words and the dress, thanking him for it.
Once the wedding came around, Talbott with a few spells casted to fit his old clothes stood in front of the mirror, looking at himself one last time before he heard high heels clicking on the floor. Turning around his breath hitched as he looked at Talia, eyes inevitably taking her in entirely. She did a small twirl, smiling "Well if this is the night I go, my corpse will be gorgeous."
"Don't say that." He uttered, walking towards her "But you do look stunning." Gathering the courage to come face to face with her, she ran her hands across his vest, mind going back to their first date. Talbott leaned in, placing a kiss against her cheek, Talia closing her eyes for a moment. Before he could fully pull away, she circled his neck with her arms, pulling his lips against hers.
She loved the advantage of her heels as she reached better. Despite what women thought, for her it felt like power, as if they steadied her on the ground. Pushing him slightly, his back hit the wall before she steered him back inside the bathroom, a slight gasp tumbling from his lips when she closed the door behind them, a spell locking it in place.
Once they arrived Molly greeted them "Are you two alright, you're late."
"Fine, just a little wardrobe malfunction." Talia spoke, offering her a small smile and her best wishes for the young couple. Talbott nodded his head, running a hand through his hair for the hundred time that night, now with more vigour as Bill's mother looked at him with an all knowing look, Talia almost ready to kick his leg just to get him to act normal.
As they were told where their seats were, Talia's eyes cast at Charlie who was sitting there next to his brother's side as his best man. Him and her shared a small nod, Charlie smirking as he gestured with his head towards Talbott. Shaking her head, Talia smiled, Talbott just sitting down choosing to ignore the exchange that took place.
It went smoothly, beautiful as all wedding were supposed to be, Talia actually surprised they managed to arrange everything and in such a manner in just a few days. Magic was truly a wonderful thing to have at hand, she could not even imagine if they were Muggles. Probably could not even have gotten a proper bouquet.
Once they were inside the tent, Charlie made a beeline towards Talia, pulling her in a tight embrace "All good? You're too thin, what are you even eating these days?"
"Don't go there." She smiled as he picked her up, testing her weight in his strong hands "Is everything…?"
"Yes, don't worry, I got this. One less thing off your shoulders, I promise." Letting go of her, Charlie looked over at Talbott, the later expending his hand, offering his best wishes towards the family "So I guess she didn't manage to convince you?"
"Something tells me she didn't actually try that hard."
Both smirked as they looked at Talia, her just making a face at them as she turned to go get a drink and step outside. While it was good to see everyone gathered, both new and old faces, she still did not like being surrounded by so many individuals. Not like this, during such times. It was enough that people looked at her, whispering, asking questions as to who she was, some knowing, why the scars, why the murderous gaze she inevitably threw her way.
Hearing footsteps she turned around, Charlie stopping only when he reached her "Come on, we need you in there."
"No you don't. You got this." She smiled, a sigh leaving her lips as she went to hug him once more "I really miss you."
His strong arms wrapped around her, lips shaping in a smile "Now, now, people will think you're actually getting soft." Letting her go, the playful glint in his eyes was not lost on her "First dance, you and me. Now come on, Bill and Fleur are getting ready to have their first dance as a married couple and I need to hide behind you." Laughing, she followed him back inside the tent to witness the events, Talia deciding to not focus on the stares.
She danced as promised with Charlie, him telling her about what is going on in Romania, them exchanging information, two songs apparently not being enough to share every detail they wished to. Talbott eventually cut in, stealing Talia, her cocking a brow at him "What?"
"You don't dance."
Rolling his eyes, he leaned in slightly "True, but I can't have you looking like that and dancing with others all night. I'm far more steady on my feet these days."
Pursing her lips, she flashed him a brilliant smile "I know, I've witnessed it first hand."
"Now, how long have you been actually conversing with Charlie?" twirling her, she locked eyes with him once back in his arm.
"I have been using someone to send letters to him. You won't like the details."
Swaying softly, he pulled her closer to his body, whispering in her ear "Enlighten me."
Her hand travelled up his neck, thumb caressing his cheek when he looked back at her, Talia shaking her head "It's better you don't know alright?"
Searching her eyes, his brows knitted together "Did you use the Im…" her grip on him made him cut his sentence short, Talia's expression growing serious.
"Fewer people would suspect a Muggle sending letters."
A flash of light drew Talia's attention, her turning Talbott around to sit in front of him. A message, the Ministry of Magic had fallen, the minister was dead, they were coming.
Panic set in in a second, people beginning to make a run for it, Talbott taking hold of Talia's hand as he took out his wand "We need to go." Her eyes circled the tent, sounds of people leaving being heard "I need you to trust me Talia, we need to get out of here."
As if on cue Death Eaters made their presence known, a spell from Talbott's wand being launched in order to protect them. She saw Remus pushing Harry further away from the chaos, Charlie yelling for people to get out.
Pulling her closer to his chest, Talbott apparated them away just as a Death Eater locked eyes with him, a spell being launched their way.
