Mary had never forgotten how her life had changed once the Mikaelsons came to Salem. For awhile, things had been better. People tended to leave her and her sisters alone, at least more than they had in the past. And she and Klaus had become close. They were different, yet they were also so similar. Somehow, they seemed to bring out the best in each other. And she could sense Winifred didn't like it. But for once, it didn't really bother her.

But she also remembered the day all that had changed. A man had come into town. He was a hunter of some sort, but she never did know exactly who or what had drawn him to Salem. All she could be sure of was that his name was Mikael. And shortly after he had come, Klaus and his siblings fled. The people seemed to respect Mikael at least as much as they had feared the Mikaelsons. So naturally, any safety she had been used to was gone.

The worst part hadn't been losing her safety. No. Even worse than that was how Klaus had shut her out. There was a part of her that would have followed him anywhere, maybe even turned so they couldn't be apart. But there was also a part of her that couldn't imagine leaving Sara and Winifred. In the end, it hadn't mattered. She just woke up one morning and found out he was gone. She had never really known why. And now that she had the chance to ask, she was afraid to.

She had no way of knowing Rebekah was tracking Hope's scent back to the house. It hadn't taken long for anyone to realize where she had gone. And they were worried.

"I don't like how easily they drew her in." Everyone felt it. Hope loved being there. But Rebekah had taken care of her when no one else could. She wouldn't lose her now.

"I know. But it's what she wants. And she's not blindly following them. She knows the truth." Elijah understood his sister's concerns. But he also knew Hope had to make her own choices.

But Klaus was more skeptical. "Does she? I doubt Winifred has told her everything. I doubt she's told her sisters what really happened. I want to believe she's safe. But I can't be sure."

Elijah frowned. "She should. It won't be easy, but they have the right to know. All of them."
