Disclaimer: I do not own Hungry Heart.

Author's Notes: Good golly, folks! It has been a while once again. I know, I know. I did promise regular updates but believe when I tell ya I've flooded my notes with scenes and ideas for upcoming chapters. Right now, I'm in the middle of arranging these ideas so they fit in a particular chapter (My initial plan for this fanfic is for it to have 12-15 chapters. But we'll see about that.) Also, I want each chapter to portray gradual development between our Hungry Heart OTP/One-True-Pairing. Lastly, I'm having fun exploring different scenarios for KyoMiki pairing.

Round 5: Going Forward

They had the first five seconds in their hands and the next five stolen by circumstance. Kyousuke inwardly cursed his teammates for ruining the mood, and for stealing his chance. Miki was thankful for her quick excuse, pretending to brush a spider off of Kyousuke's shoulder.

When they had their second chance, it only took half of a second, and an eternity for Kyousuke to convince himself that it was real.

Kyousuke kept pushing himself to do it, and unexpectedly got a push—literally—from Esaka. The captain grew very impatient and decided to lend a hand to his kohai.

Abrupt, sudden and quick.

So abrupt that he accidentally bit her lower lip.

Sharp pain, blood, regret.

Miki winced, then tasted a surge of metal as the tip of her tongue reached for her lips.

Kyousuke's quick apology, on the other hand, did not make the situation less awkward for both of them. He silently wished he had the magic to kiss the small cut away for her.

"So much for their first kiss", Sakai remarked disappointingly from the background.

Kyousuke couldn't agree more.

But hey, at least he had the initiative.
