Gods reign over the mortal world, ruling over all so that everything follows its natural course. Among them, our soulmates were caught in a fated tragedy, for Luffy, Sun God, was meant to rule when the sun shone on earth, while his desired lover Nami, Moon Goddess, must rule when the moon took place in the sky. Only in the fleeting moment between its rise and fall could they share a kiss or an embrace that did not last long enough before one of them disappeared.
It felt cold as winter, so frustrating, not being able to be with the one you so dearly loved.
Grab a huge heavy blanket while it's still snowing outside, I'll keep the fire going on this freezing cold day and I'll make you some hot cocoa, for the story of our two lovers today will need some healing hot drink.
"I fell in your arms tonight" the sun was shining at its highest point in the sky,
"I fell hard in your arms tonight...It was nice" He strolled across the frozen fields. Water dripped from the trees in his path as the heating sun melted the ice,
"I died in your arms tonight" He stopped abruptly. A shimmering hot aura enveloped him. In his hands, a crumpled handwritten piece of paper; a letter,
"I slipped through into the afterlife...It was nice" He was reading it aloud. His voice was as warm as his body,
"White light in your arms tonight...I lost sight in your arms tonight...It was nice" His skin was tanned, and his hair, white, floated in curly waves as curly as his eyebrows were too,
"And hey you, don't you think it's kinda cute that I died right inside your arms tonight, that I'm fine even after I have died, because it was in your arms that I died?" he smiled to himself and looked up at the sky "yeah, it's nice" he answered no one, though he hoped it would reach her he knew it would not. His body was covered only by a thin white robe around his waist and a strap that hung over his left shoulder across his bare chest. Sandals covered his feet and thin golden bracelets covered his arms. He sat by a lake, causing it to melt and returned to his reading,
"I cry in the afterlife" He frowned his eyebrows deeply,
"I cry hard because I have died and you're alive" he looked down but continued reading,
"I try to escape afterlife, I try hard to get back inside your arms alive" he held the letter so tightly that his knuckles were white,
"And hey you, don't you think it's kinda cute that I try to escape the afterlife, that I try to get back in your arms alive, that I died in your arms, that I fell hard in your arms?" He dropped the letter, its last words unread, forgotten in the now melted lake, the letter soaked, drowning.
He stood up with a gloomy face "no, it is not nice" he left the place, and the lake began to freeze again now that he was gone; the letter sank inside it.
He had known of his lover's desire for a long time "If I can't be with you I might as well die!" She had shouted at him once before disappearing. He had been frightened. If she did that, the balance of the whole universe would be broken. The night would no longer exist and the earth would die too.
Even though they loved each other so passionately, their duty came first. He hated it, but that was the way it had to be.
The only thing he clung to was the coming eclipse. It would only be a matter of time before the celestial stars would finish aligning and soon they would be able to spend the dusk together.
Among the tasks he had to perform was to roam the earth and make sure that his light and warmth kissed every creature and land in existence. Sometimes other gods created clouds and even rain, but his duty never went unnoticed. He was essential to life, just like Nami. Their balance was the blessing of the universe, and if they broke it, they would break everything within themselves.
As the shifting positions of the stars approached, Luffy grew impatient, holding up the letter he had written for her. It was a regular routine for them. She spoke of the night and he of the day. He warmed her nights and she cooled his days.
Soon his cloaked aura began to grow smaller, he had to cross the portal to the other side soon, but he had to see her before he left. He had to.
At last, he could see her crossing her portal on the other side. Her porcelain pale skin sparkled beautifully as the sky darkened. Her hair cascaded down along with the silver veil she wore. Her gown, a thin silver spaghetti-strap dress, clung to her body as if soaked with water. Her arms and ankles were adorned with silver bracelets and her aura glowed with silver lightning. Although it wasn't the first time he had seen her, he always gaped at the sight of her; she was gorgeous.
"Luffy!" she cried, running towards his closing gate as he stared at her dumbfounded. Her hair danced and her clothes hugged her body.
"Nami!" He reached out his hand over her with his letter towards her. Their fingers brushed and Nami moaned as warm, hot fingers found her icy ones. However, as soon as that happened, he disappeared, leaving his note behind. She fell to the ground. The growing moon behind her. She began to cry, taking the still warm letter to her heart.
"Oh, Luffy..." She cried.
Luffy found himself on the other side after barely touching her fingers and dropped to the overheated ground. He hit it in anger. Again. Every day. Always like this. He couldn't take it. He took a deep breath. Soon, he tried to think. Soon they could be together. Side by side.
Nami's duty wasn't much different from Luffy's, but at night things were cooler. She paced, reading Luffy's letter with a smile. His words warmed her. He was right, they should think about the upcoming eclipse. She looked up at her star. The moon was almost full. Her smile grew as if it might make her star grow faster too. At least she longed for it.
When the longed day finally came, the two lovers ran towards each other. Their gates opened without restraint. They had six hours until they would be separated again. Luffy and Nami embraced roughly. His heat clashing with her cold aura. They wasted no time searching for each other's mouths. They kissed. Luffy's lips were fire and Nami's were freezing cold. She giggled clutching his cheeks with her hands. Water rolled down her body. Her icy core melted in his hands. They knew the dangers, she was made of an ice star and he was born and made of a flaming one. He could kill her. And she wouldn't care.
She moaned into his mouth and cuddled, caressing his body. He shivered as he felt her icy hands on him. He turned her around as he kissed her neck. His hands roamed all over her body and hips. She hummed as she danced with him in the dark, in the abyss. His chest pressed against her back while his hands ran all over her body making her moan in pleasure; his name part of her music.
She swayed her hips towards him seductively, bringing her ass close to his groin. He was melting, she was burning. Her hands on the back of his neck stroking his hair "Mmmm Luffy" She gasped and with the help of his hand, rolled back, facing him. They were dancing after all. She smiled hugging him as she let the god lay her down on the field with him looming over her "Oh, is the dancing over?" She said teasingly feeling his lips on her chest.
"Mmmm let's do any other kind of dance" his lips still on her icy skin. She sighed in a moan. They kissed each other's bodies and lips as Nami melted behind him. She rolled over him, wanting more, wanting to feel him inside her. When she took him, a halo of bright light lit up the darkness. As she rode him, she felt every part of her body burn and melt, disappearing into his arms.
"N-Nami" He was ready as she was. They looked deep inside each other's eyes; full eclipse.
They held each other and kissed like crazy, feeling the hours slipping through their fingers like sand. They made love until Nami couldn't hold on any longer.
Luffy held her in his lap as he caressed her.
"I fell in your arms tonight" she sang,
"I fell hard in your arms tonight" she moaned,
"It was nice" He chuckled
"I died in your arms tonight" He slowly stroked her hair looking deep into her eyes
"I slipped through into the afterlife" She murmured
"It was nice" He kept caressing her. Time was running short
"White light in your arms tonight...I lost sight in your arms tonight...It was nice" Her eyes clouded over with tears
"And hey you, don't you think it's kinda cute that I died right inside your arms tonight, that I'm fine even after I have died, because it was in your arms that I died?" He stood up, walking over the gates, or else she would disappear, he would disappear, everything would disappear. He walked up slowly, watching their fading and translucent bodies, beginning to fade away.
"I went and died in your arms that night. I fell in your arms tonight. Suicide in your arms." She whispered as she cried looking up to him, clinging onto his arms.
"Luffy...please" Her voice cracked, trembling. He stopped a few feet away from both gates.
She cupped his cheek, tears rolling down his face.
"A life without you is meaningless", she said faintly.
He fell to his knees with her in his arms, slipping through his fingers. The eclipse ended and both gates vanished behind them. He gasped and she smiled relieved in his arms. He smiled likewise.
Dying side by side was the best way to die.
