The following day the three of them headed over to the college and managed to track down Kevin's girlfriend, Channing. They were stood inside her dorm room, the boys dressed in their Fed outfits. Lacey had to admit, she'd definitely missed Dean in a suit.
"The last time I saw Kevin was, like, a year ago." Lacey focused back on the conversation.
"When her disappeared?" Sam clarified.
"Mmhmm. He stole his mothers car because he thought he was on a mission from God or something. It was crazy." Channing sounded less than impressed. To be honest, Lacey couldn't really blame her, she would have found that difficult to swallow too if she didn't know the things she did.
"Shut up!" Channing's roommate looked up from her laptop. "My friend Adam, who got addicted to Adderall but got a perfs on his SATs, so it was totally worth it, same thing!"
"Shut up!" Lacey wished she could say she was following this exchange but a lot of it had gone over her head.
"Serious. Mission from God."
"Look, Channing, we know Kevin was here." Sam interjected.
"No, he wasn't."
"And we understand if you're trying to protect him. But nobody can protect Kevin better than we can." Sam assured her.
"I hate Kevin. I wouldn't protect him." Channing scoffed.
"I thought you two had a thing?" Dean asked.
"Yeah, when he was going to Princeton." Lacey stared at her for a moment, not sure if she'd heard right.
"Wow. Just like that?"
"Yeah." Channing's roommate laughed.

"So why would Kevin come sniffing around here if not to see her?"
"No idea. Maybe we should split up, ask around, see if anybody's seen him?" Sam suggested.
"Yeah, Asian kid, yea high, at a university. That should be easy." Dean grumbled.

Lacey and Dean had walked around the campus grounds, asking students and professors alike, but none of them had seen Kevin. They were heading towards an outdoor Café where they were meeting Sam.
"You know I feel kind of bad." Lacey admitted as she linked arms with Dean.
"What? Why?" Dean frowned, looking confused.
"Putting all this blame on Sam. I was here. I didn't look for Kevin either. I'm not gonna lie, I didn't think about him, I could only think about finding you."
"Hey." Dean stopped walking and turned to face her. "You looked for me, Sam barely bothered to do that. You didn't give up, he did. If Sam had kept his phone on, he could have dealt with the Kevin situation. He called Sam. This one falls at his door, not yours."
"I just feel bad that he didn't even cross my mind. When we find the guy, I owe him an apology. And probably some of my Aunt Sophia's cooking."
"Oh and I don't get any of Sophia's cooking?" Dean teased as they walked into the café courtyard.
"Maybe. Or you can have something better." She winked at Dean. "Look, there's Sam." She walked off in the direction of the table he was sitting at. Dean watched her go in amusement, smirking to himself before following her.
"Don't judge us, we've got bubkis." Dean said as they sat down.
"Well…" Sam started before a waitress came over and put a plate down in front of him.
"And here you go."
"Thank you." Sam pushed the plate of burger and fries across the table towards Dean.
"Sweet mother of God. It's for me? Seriously?" Dean looked adorably happy.
"Check this out. So, I went through campus security archives around the time Kevin should have been here. Anyone look familiar?" Sam turned his laptop around but soon realised no one was paying attention as Dean took a bit of his burger, his eyes closed, a look of bliss spread across his face. Lacey was watching him with a look of amusement and joy.
"Dude, it's a burger." Sam rolled his eyes.
"It's a treasure." Dean corrected him.
"Hey so uh, where's mine?" Lacey asked, frowning at Sam.
"Here." Dean slid his plate of fries towards her.
"Oh, no, those are yours, you deserve them." She told him, sliding them back. Dean shrugged and smirked at Sam, looking pleased with himself.
"All right, so, what, Kevin comes all the way to campus and doesn't see his girlfriend?" Dean asked, nodding at the freeze frame of Kevin from the security cameras.
"I don't know, but I went to the computer lab and found the computer he was on." Sam said, turning the laptop back around.
"And?"
"And I found the website he was visiting, found his account username, hacked into the website, found when else this user name logged in, and then I reverse tracked the IP address back to the original user, Kevin, who has apparently been using the same wireless router for two months." Lacey and Dean stared at him blankly.
"That is spectacular work. Any chance we can get that in English?"
"Yeah. I think he's in Iowa, at a coffee shop."
"OK, then." Lacey raised her hand to get the waitresses attention. "Let's go find him. After lunch."

Sam had tracked down where Kevin's IP address was pointing to so they drove out to Fairfield, Iowa. Dean pulled up outside an abandoned church and the three of them got out.
"A church? You sure this is right?" Dean looked unconvinced.
"Barista at the coffee shop swears he's seen Kevin ducking in here for the past few months." Sam told them as they walked up the steps. Lacey shrugged.
"I mean as far as symbolism goes, where better to hide from the King of Hell." Sam tried the door but it was locked.
"Kevin. It's Sam, Dean and Lacey. Open up." He called out. There was silence from the other side of the door. Sam shrugged and stepped back as Dean pulled out his lock picking kit. Lacey put up a hand.
"Or we could do this the easy way." She said before grabbing both their arms and phasing them through the door. As soon as they stepped inside they were sprayed with borax. Lacey stared down at her dripping jumper in dismay.
"Stop! Stop! Not leviathans. It's us." Dean barked at Kevin who was still pointing a supersoaker at them.
"What the hell happened to you guys?" Kevin asked, sounding pissed.
"Cliff notes? I went to Purgatory, Lacey tried to find me. Sam hit a dog." Lacey tried not to smirk at Dean's response.
"For real?" Kevin stared at them as Dean tried to wipe his face with his sleeve. "You want some towels?"
"Yes. Please." Lacey said. They followed Kevin into the main room which was covered in symbols.
"Who taught you all this?" Dean asked, looking around in mild amazement.
"I guess… God." Kevin shrugged.
"God taught you how to trap demons?" Sam asked, incredulous.
"Technically, yeah." Kevin said as he threw a couple of towels to them.
"Thanks." Lacey caught hers and started drying off.
"Wait, wait, hold on. Crowley kidnapped you. I saw that. But then you left a message saying you escaped. How?"
"Well, first he took me to a warehouse. There was a tablet there, like the first one."
"Wait, there's another tablet? So another word of God." Dean asked, interrupting.
"Yes."
"How many Words of God are there?"
"I just became a prophet like, a year ago." Kevin shrugged.
"Well, did this tablet have a name?" Sam asked.
"Demons."
"What about demons?"
"As far as I could tell, everything. Some stuff about hell gates.."
"What about hell gates?" Sam interrupted.
"There's one in Wisconsin. The tablet told me how to open it. There were ingredients for a spell."
"You showed the King of Hell how to open a hell gate? So that all the demons in hell could come out, all at the same time?" The three of them stared at him in varying states of shock and anger,
"What? No. I told Crowley I was opening a hell gate, but I was reading from another chapter, how to destroy demons."
"You son of a bitch." Dean grinned at him.
"Wait. Kevin? Where's the tablet now?"
"Safe." Kevin assured them.
"Safe where?" Sam pressed.
"Hey, as long as it's safe, okay? Were you able to read anything else off the tablet before you stashed it?"
"Only the stuff about closing the gates of hell. Forever."
"Come again?" Dean asked as they stared at him blankly.
"Banish all demons off the face of the earth, lock them away forever. That could be important, right?" The three of them exchanged looks before Dean answered.
"Closing the gates of hell forever? Yeah. Yeah, that could be important."

Sam and Dean stepped outside and Lacey took a seat in the pew across from Kevin. She swung her legs up, crossing them, her back straight against the arm.
"Kevin, I need to apologise to you. I should have been here for you the last year and I wasn't. I didn't even consider you and for that I'm sorry. I was distracted trying to find out what had happened to Dean and I dropped the ball on this one. Here." She pulled her phone out of her bag and tossed it across the aisle to him. Kevin fumbled as he caught the phone, almost dropping it.
"Put your number in there. Now we can keep in contact, if you need anything." Lacey said as Kevin put his number into the phone before throwing it back to her.
"Thanks. I'll do that." He nodded at her. Lacey got to her feet as Sam walked in the door.
"Hey Lace, mind if I have a minute with Kevin?"
"Sure." Lacey shrugged and grabbed her bag before heading out the door. She joined Dean on the church steps.
"You ok?" She asked. Dean was leaning against the railing, staring off into the distance.
"Yeah." He turned his head towards her. "Man, I don't know with Sam right now. He's questioning whether to shut the gates of hell or not." Lacey raised an eyebrow.
"I would of thought it was a given that we were doing that."
"Yeah, because you're normal." Dean huffed. Lacey chuckled.
"That's not the first word that comes to mind but I'll take it." Lacey blinked as the floor below them began to shake.
"That's not me." The two of them rushed inside the church as the floorboards began to break apart.
"We got company. Sam." Dean reached into his holdall and pulled out the demon knife, handing it to Sam before pulling out a large barbed machete. Lacey's eyes widened a little and Sam frowned.
"What the hell is that?"
"It's purgatory." Dean shrugged. The doors to the church flew open and two demons stalked in.
"Dean Winchester. Back from Purgatory." One of the demons commented.
"Spanky the demon. Yeah, I heard about you. You're the one who uses too much teeth right?" As the demons began to attack them Kevin used his water gun to squirt them with holy water. Lacey raised an arm at the demon advancing on her, flinging it against the wall, where Sam used the demon knife to kill it.
"Dean!" Sam threw the knife to Dean, who was struggling with one of the demons. As he despatched the last demon they heard a voice behind them.
"Hello, boys." Lacey turned to see Crowley and Kevin's girlfriend standing in the door to the church.
"It's always hello boys, the misogyny is showing, Crowley." Lacey tutted at him.
"Well, you are providing the only oestrogen in a sea of testosterone, just like Black Widow, you're bound to get overlooked." Crowley winked at her before turning away and going back to ignoring her. Lacey rolled her eyes at him.
"Dean. You're looking… well, let's just say purgatory didn't do you any favours. Where's your angel?"
"Ask your mother." Dean bit back.
"There's that grade school zip. Missed it. I really did." He turned to Sam. "Moose. Still with the pork chops. I admire that."
"Let Channing go." Kevin growled through gritted teeth.
"That's not Channing, Kevin. Not anymore." Dean told him.
"What an awful thing to say to the boy." Crowley said, sounding mock offended. "Of course it's Channing. Kev. Last time we danced, you stole my tablet and killed my men. Tell you what. Come with me now, bygones. And I'll let the girl go back to… What's-The-Point U."
"He's lying. You won't get Channing back. She's probably dead already." Crowley sighed.
"Will you please stop saying that? Let the girl speak.! He snapped his fingers and Channing woke up.
"Kevin?" She looked around, wild eyed.
"Channing?"
"What's going on?"
"There's a demon in you and you're going to your safety school." Lacey couldn't tell which statement upset Channing more.
"What!?"
"But it's gonna be ok." Kevin assured her.
"I..I just…I can't." Crowley shook his head.
"No, no, wait." Kevin protested as Crowley snapped his fingers again and Channing's eyes turned black.
"Okay. I'll do it." Kevin immediately told him.
"Kevin." Sam protested.
"Myself for the girl. But this ends. All right? No fighting, no nothing. It ends."
"Can't let you do that buddy." Dean told him gently.
"Or what? You'll kill me?" Kevin scoffed. "I'll get my stuff." He told Crowley, as he headed to one of the side rooms off the chapel.
"Chin up, gentlemen. I'm a professional." Crowley assured them.
"This ain't over by a long shot, Crowley."
"Really, Dean? Who writes your stuff? A marshmallow?" Crowley was getting impatient. "Come on, Kevin. Chop, chop. Kevin?" Crowley went to follow Kevin but Dean stepped forward, brandishing the demon knife. Crowley sighed and with a flick of his wrist, the knife began to glow red hot. Dean let out a grunt and dropped the knife.
"Ready, boys?" Crowley asked, as he followed Kevin into the other room. "Kevin?" Crowley and Channing opened the door to find Kevin standing on the other side.
"Kevin." Kevin pulled on a cord and a wave of holy water came down on the two demons.
"Guys, run!" Kevin shouted as Crowley and Channing screamed in pain. The four of them ran out of the doors to the church and towards the impala. As they climbed in Crowley and Channing, still sizzling, appeared at the church door.
"Find another meatsuit." Crowley instructed. The demon smoked out. As the impala drove past the church, Crowley snapped his fingers and Channing's head spun to the side, her neck snapping. Lacey closed her eyes, wincing and turning away.

Hours later, the day had dawned and the morning rush was just beginning. Dean pulled the Impala up to a gas station, the atmosphere inside was one of quiet defeat. Dean's phone rang. He answered it;
"Hello?" Dean shook his head before hanging up. "Wrong number. Automated jackass. All right, anybody want anything?" He asked, turning to face the three of them.
"I'm good." Sam said and Lacey shook her head. "Kevin? How you holding up?"
"Awesome. The King of Hell just snapped my girlfriends neck. How about you?" Kevin snapped. Sam and Dean exchanged a look.
"All right, listen to me. I'm sorry about your girlfriend, okay? I am. But the sooner you get this, the better. You're in it now, whether you like it or not. That means you do what you got to do. I'm hitting the head." He tapped his hand on the back of the seat before getting out of the car. Lacey watched him go before turning back to Kevin.
"I feel like I'm constantly apologising to you, but I really am sorry. I know we can't change what happened but we can make Crowley pay, which is always fun." Lacey told him.
"Yeah, I guess." Kevin shrugged and turned to face away from them, staring out of the window.
