"Okay enough with keeping us waiting what did you get?" Wally asked excitedly.
"Relax, I had to do a lot of sending Pokemon to and from Professor Oak's after that." Brendan said.
"You can say that again, I never expected you to grab all your reserves for anything like this." Ash commented.
"It was fun working with everyone again, but I think sticking with a smaller team for day to day stuff was best for me." Brendan said. "But anyways, say hello to the newest team member. Come on out Hitmonlee!"
"Hit! Mon! Lee!" Hitmonlee said, striking several poses in a row.
"Snea!" Sneasel said, throwing a piece of ice at the fighting type.
"Sneasel!" Ash exclaimed.
"Hit!" Hitmonlee said, sending his foot at Sneasel, launching the ice type backwards.
"Hitmonlee! Wait, why am I angry? You just were defending yourself." Brendan said in realization.
"How about we let them fight?" Ash asked. "Both are new to the team, and we could definitely learn what they can do."
"What about me?" Wally asked.
"I don't know, you tell me how you'd like to help." Ash said.
"I have an idea, I'll be back." Wally said.
"Okay, so in the meantime, let's do this." Brendan said, grabbing Hitmonlee's Pokeball.
Just outside the city, in an open field.
"Sneasel let's do this! Use Ice Shard!" Ash called out.
"Hitmonlee use Blaze Kick!"
Sneasel sent out a shard of ice from it's hand, only for it to be melted as soon as it neared Hitmonlee's foot.
"Okay, so let's try something else then." Ash said. "Sneasel use Agility!"
"Hitmonlee use Rolling Kick!"
Hitmonlee shot his leg forward, barely missing Sneasel as the dark type ran out of the way.
"Now Sneasel use Thief!"
"Hitmonlee use High Jump Kick!"
Hitmonlee leapt out of the way, rising high into the air before slamming back down on Sneasel, knocking the Pokemon out.
"Well, that was over quicker than I had hoped." Ash admitted.
"Did I miss it already?" Wally said running up, holding Magnemite.
"Wally, what exactly was your plan with Magnemite?" Brendan asked.
"I don't know, its just with you bringing all your old Pokemon back, I figured inspiration would strike me if I had one of mine." Wally said.
"So you went with Magnemite? Rather than the Roselia you caught all on your own?" Ash questioned.
"I didn't say I knew what my plan was." Wally sighed.
"Well then, I guess we should get Sneasel back to the Pokemon Center to heal them." Ash said. "Wally, if you want to try your best against Hitmonlee give it a shot."
Back in Hoenn atop Mt. Pyre
"I said, get out of my way!" Jessie said, blasting ice at another two people trying to stop them.
"Do you think anyone is really trying to stop her anymore?" James asked.
"Not since the landslide." Meowth commented.
"What was that!" Jessie shouted angrily.
"Nothing Jess." James said. "We were just saying how your new powers have made our jobs much easier. Right Meowth?"
"Right, right." Meowth said.
"Good, now lets get these orbs for the boss so we can go home and fulfil our destiny." Jessie said, climbing up the last of the stairs.
"Looks like someone is already beating us to the punch." James said, looking at the top of the mountain.
At the shrine there was a being that had strange glowing red marks running across their body, along with several cybernetic limbs. Their head completely hairless, and they were holding up a small red gem.
"Hold it right there! Those are ours for the taking!" Jessie exclaimed.
"Oh yeah, and just who are you?" The being asked.
"Who are we?" Jessie asked. "Prepare for trouble."
"And make it double." James said, rushing up.
"To protect the world from devastation." Jessie said.
"To unite all peoples within our nation." James said, catching his breath.
"To denounce the evils of truth and love." Jessie said.
"To extend our reach to the stars above." James said, finally gaining some composure.
"Jessie." Jessie announced.
"And its James." James added.
"Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light!" Jessie said.
"Surrender now or prepare to fight fight fight." James said coyly.
"Meowth that's right!" Meowth finished.
"Team Rocket?" The being said in confusion. "I've heard of you losers, aren't you supposed to be in Kanto?"
"Who are you calling losers?! At least we don't look like a science experiment gone wrong!" Jessie shouted.
"Have you looked at yourself lately, where do you shop at the bottom of the ocean?" The being laughed.
"I'll have you know this look gives me power beyond your wildest dreams!" Jessie said, firing off an Ice Beam.
"Please, that's child's play." The being said, their arm opening up and shooting flames melting the ice.
"James help out!" Jessie demanded.
"Right! Dusknoir let's go!" James said. "Use Shadow Punch!"
"Really, you're trying that?" The being questioned, zapping Dusknoir hard enough to cause the mighty ghost type to fall to the ground. "Look I don't have time to deal with you three, I have revenge on a certain boy and his Pikachu that needs my attention."
"A boy with a Pikachu you say?" Meowth asked, only to see a blade pointed at him. "Hold on, our goals might be aligned!"
"Why would I go so low as to work with the likes of you?" The being asked.
"Did this boy have lightning bolts on his cheeks, a certain twerp is feel to him?" Meowth asked.
"What's it to you?" The being asked.
"We're on the hunt to take him down and steal that Pikachu of his." Meowth said. "How about you?"
"I want to make him pay for turning me into this hideous monstrosity!" The being exclaimed.
"Then hows about you come to Kanto with us, we have a knack of running into the kid, and I think we're long overdue for a fight." Meowth said evily.
"Very well, but I will be holding onto the Red Orb." The being said.
"Fine, looks more like a shard anyways. I'll be holding the blue orb." Jessie said. "Now come on team! Kanto awaits!"
Back in Kanto
"Ash, is everything alright?" Brendan asked, seeing Ash's entire body shudder.
"I'm not sure." Ash said. "It felt like something tried pulling me just now."
"No one else is here, it must have just been your imagination." Brendan assured.
"You're right." Ash said. "I'm probably just a little tired anyways."
