CHAPTER 27:

Julia grabbed the handle of William's office door and pushed it gently. She looked inside and saw him with his head bent over a magazine on his desk.

"William?"

The young man immediately raised his head, immediately recognizing his lover's voice.

"Can I come in?"

William nodded, ashamed. In fact, he felt guilty for having lost his temper just before, when he had left Julia alone in the cafe.

The doctor closed the door behind her and peered into Detective Murdoch's office. An office that smelled of intelligence and genius. Literally. Posters and diagrams everywhere. What was more needed? It was really fascinating.

William got up slowly and walked around his desk.

"Excuse me for my behavior earlier. I don't know what I have…"

"Don't worry William. I understood your reaction…" began Julia. "I will accept the Chief Inspector's proposal."

"No, wait Julia! I don't want you to feel obligated to it. I reacted badly earlier, sweetheart. If you want to stay in the hospital, I will completely understand. There are no problems." said William, approaching Julia.

The young woman smiled as she watched her lover writhe in anxiety.

"So, first, you are very handsome." Julia smiled, taking both sides of William's jacket in her hands. "Secondly, I like it when you call me 'sweetheart'." she whispered, pulling him closer to her by his raven black jacket "And thirdly, I've thought enough, and I want to work here..."

William looked at her without saying anything, putting his hands on the young woman's hips and squeezing them lovingly.

"I will be very happy to see you every day… I really need it. And ultimately, I think it will be a wonderful experience. I'm going to do something different and finally I really like it." she smiled again.

The young detective smiled, his eyes shining with contentment and admiration for his woman.

"You are amazing."

He kissed her chastely, fully aware of the large bay windows that adorned his office.

"Go! Come!"

"What?" Julia wondered as her lover pulled her by the arm, straight to the door of his office.

He opened it and dragged her outside. They saw all the officers look away and hurriedly resume their work, as if they had not been fascinated by the interaction between the two young people, through the bay window. They weaved through desks and officers to Chief Inspector Brackenreid's door.

William opened it laughing, without even knocking, which startled Thomas who hid his Whiskey under the table, thinking it was his wife. He huffed in annoyance.

"Murdoch!"

"Sir! Julia accepts! She accepts the position of coroner." he smiled broadly, his face bright and mirroring that of the young doctor.

Thomas stayed put, trying to understand what his best detective had just told him, who was now all smiles. A big change from the last few weeks.

Finally, he stood up and smiled. He approached the young woman who had her hip held and squeezed in one of William's hands and extended a hand to her.

"Welcome to our team, Dr. Ogden."

Julia smiled back and gripped her new superior's hand tightly.

Notes: Yes! Julia joins their team! We're almost at the end of the story.
